00:16When I was a kid,
00:17I was probably about seven,
00:19I had a...
00:21I had an annual
00:22of some kind, a space annual,
00:25and in it was
00:26an amazing
00:28orbital station that you could
00:30walk around.
00:32And I used to dream as a kid
00:33of being able to do that.
00:36And finally,
00:37I might soon be able to
00:40do such a thing in
00:41one of our amazing orbit stations.
00:44So that's what I'm looking forward to
00:46in the future for the game.
00:47Being able to get out of my ship,
00:49get into one of those stations and do what I imagined
00:51doing when I was seven years old.
00:53I love the idea of going down
00:55to a planet's surface, getting
00:58out of my ship.
01:00Maybe driving around in a buggy,
01:01that sort of thing.
01:02That, to me, is amazing.
01:05Because then you start to realise the scope
01:06and the scale of the real world that's out there.
01:09All of those distant stars.
01:11I think there's so much to do.
01:13I think I'm quite looking forward
01:14to being able to walk around space stations.
01:16I think there's a whole gamut
01:18of gameplay there that I think
01:20will be interesting to explore,
01:22meeting the contacts that you've only
01:24seen via the bulletin board interface.
01:28Yes, there's a lot we can do there.
01:30I would love to see players
01:31running around their ship
01:33and other ships dealing with emergencies
01:35and repelling borders,
01:37cleaning up toxic spillages,
01:39exploring derelict husks,
01:41that sort of mischief.
01:42What I want to see in future releases
01:44of Elite Dangerous would be more ships,
01:46more diversity in design
01:48and the looks of the spaceships.
01:51The ability to walk around them,
01:53particularly the bigger ones like the Anaconda
01:54and then in stations as well,
01:57meeting other players and all that sort of stuff.
01:59Fantastic.
01:59One of the things that we've implemented
02:01on some of the larger ships is based
02:03on a grid system of meter squares.
02:06So the cockpit is of a certain size
02:08and within that there's a lift shaft
02:10and that shaft will then channel down
02:13and be the same position throughout the ship
02:15on all the lower decks.
02:16Planning for the future where,
02:17on the one hand, you have something like a cobra,
02:22which actually is a giant vehicle
02:23with a huge ladder you get out of,
02:26or an anaconda, which in itself
02:28would probably be the size of a level
02:30in many of the first-person shooter games
02:33that I've played.
02:34I'd like for players to be able to get out of the ship
02:36and walk around the hangars
02:37because it's difficult to appreciate
02:39how big some of these ships are
02:41when you're flying them,
02:42but to walk around the hangar
02:44and stand underneath one
02:46should really bring that scale across to the player.
02:48I think what I'm particularly looking forward to
02:50is when you can actually get out of your ship
02:52and walk around.
02:53Just to be able to sort of look up
02:55into the station and realise just how big it is
02:59and how small you are,
03:02yeah, that's going to be amazing.
03:04What's really exciting is zero gravity.
03:07That's something you don't see in a lot of games
03:10and being able to sort of float around your ship,
03:12float through the corridors
03:13and float out of your ship
03:15and sort of climb around it,
03:16fix something on the outside,
03:18I think that would be really cool.
03:19I'd love to see that in the future.
03:21I'm really looking forward to zero-G combat,
03:24getting out of your seat
03:25and then being in an atmosphere
03:27that has absolutely no gravity.
03:29how is that going to work?
03:31I'm really looking forward to playing that.
03:33So I'd really love to see us explore
03:36some of the suggestions we've had
03:38from the DDF and from the community
03:40that we've had behind the game.
03:41I mean, we look at that every day
03:42and we get to see so many great ideas
03:44that frankly would be entire projects
03:46just on their own.
03:47One guy suggested radio stations
03:50you could tune into when you arrive in a system
03:52so you can hack into and listen to
03:54all the police transmissions around a system,
03:56things like that.
03:57I really hope someday we can explore those ideas
03:59and sort of build them out into the game.
04:01One thing I'd really like to see
04:02is space station destruction
04:04which I don't think we'll get
04:06but I do remember spending a lot of time
04:08in the original game
04:08shooting at stations
04:10hoping that I'll be able to destroy them
04:12and never actually getting anywhere.
04:13So I'd like to see that.
04:15I'd like to see giant space aliens
04:18that live in deep space
04:20and they eat asteroids
04:21and they eat spaceships
04:22and they have giant tentacles
04:24and big goggly eyes.
04:26So for me, I'm really looking forward
04:28to the planetary landings
04:29seeing these beautiful globes
04:32that we're flying past in Super Cruise
04:33at the moment
04:34and then being able to just
04:36pop down onto the surface
04:37I'm really excited about that one.
04:39So yeah, I'm really looking forward
04:41to doing the planetary landing expansion.
04:44It's a terrifying undertaking.
04:49It's just a whole new area of the game
04:51that we're going to have to bring up
04:52to an incredibly high quality
04:55but hopefully we've got long enough to do that.
04:58I love things like walking around
05:00inside the ship
05:00and the space station
05:01but the thing to me
05:02is going around
05:03seeing a distant world.
05:05That's probably the thing I'm very...
05:07I'm excited about the whole thing
05:08because I just love the idea
05:09the more...
05:11the more we put in
05:12the more I feel we need to flesh things out
05:14and so there is so much scope
05:17for where we go in this game.
