00:00Are y'all ready?
00:01Background and action!
00:03This is a real deal.
00:05Today we're at boot camp.
00:06One, two, three.
00:08You know, some of this stuff is really intense.
00:10You do it so many times your body's just like,
00:12I don't want to do this anymore.
00:14Let's not double. This is the best in the world.
00:18Let's go again.
00:19I love what we're making.
00:21I think we're making magic.
00:22But I'm beat, dude.
00:24I promise you're going to cut it if I barf on camera.
00:26Just cut it.
00:30This is how I select my crew.
00:43Today we're just shooting a river crossing.
00:45Part of the training montage, trying to get across a river.
00:48And this is foreshadowing the river crossing they do later in the film.
00:51Three, two, one, action!
00:5750 bucks he goes in, alright?
01:00Go!
01:00Go!
01:02Go!
01:02Go!
01:03Go!
01:07Alan is the machine on set.
01:09He works harder than anyone.
01:11It's really been awesome just to watch him work.
01:15It's definitely been a challenge.
01:16We've had some days so far that it's been rough.
01:19Alan is like such a sweetheart, such a professional,
01:22such an awesome bloke willing to help us as much as he can.
01:28All the cast want to experience the most raw, authentic version of Rangers as we possibly can.
01:40It's like camping.
01:44I feel super grateful to be here.
01:47I'm aware of the pressure of all of it.
01:49I like the process.
01:51I like figuring out and solving problems.
01:53And the commitment to the kind of rugged environment that we're in.
01:56The terrain and the locations look outstanding.
02:00That's the reason we're here.
02:0298% of this entire movie is outdoors and it's not easy locations.
02:08Every day we're just shooting big action, big set pieces.
02:10And there's always something really complex, physically.
02:14I just found out this water's coming from the glacial river.
02:21For this film, for the scale of some of the things we're doing, we've built it.
02:26We've built big mortar pans for the pyrotechnic events and explosions.
02:35About to let off some big explosions.
02:41Oh my god, that's a mushroom cloud.
02:50Today what we're shooting is 81 dragging Seven up the hill.
02:54Essentially we're making a movie about human connection and 81's lack of it.
02:58Because he's sort of suppressed everything down and built up this wall of armor.
03:03And Seven holds the key to unlocking that armor.
03:05And this is that scene, so it's quite a heavy scene.
03:08Great work, Alan.
03:09He's got to perform this, but also make it not look like we're helping it.
03:12And at the moment, he doesn't want our help.
03:14Which is awesome.
03:15I'm not going to hurt myself.
03:16It's going hard.
03:17You're going to be cool.
03:17No, no, no.
03:19All we're trying to get is a code word so we can establish how to give and how not to
03:23give.
03:23That's the scene.
03:25No place I'd rather be.
03:26Alan is a beast.
03:28And he's very critical of his own performance.
03:30We'll always look at a gag and go,
03:31Oh, it could be a little bit better.
03:32We could get, you know, 10% more out.
03:34Which has been great.
03:37This film is one that just about broke me.
03:44This man has been in every single shot.
03:47And this film has been brutal and punishing.
03:50And he has never, ever, ever once complained.
03:53There's nothing left from the tank.
03:54No!
03:55But I also love what I do, man.
03:58How many more tanks could you handle with that, Alan?
04:00I'm just going to shoot some just for fun.
