00:01The greatest show on earth is about to begin.
00:07That is outrageous!
00:09And it's balls!
00:19I think I'm just gonna go
00:21Oh dear, oh dear
00:35That's a howler!
00:40Is this what Scottish football is about?
00:43Delicious!
00:44Oh what!
00:49Champions!
00:52This has been an absolute barnstormer!
01:01Hello and welcome to A View from the Terrace,
01:04the show that celebrates Scotland going to the World Cup.
01:08Yes, after defeating Denmark 4-2 on Tuesday night,
01:12we have qualified for our first World Cup finals since France in 1998.
01:17What a feeling.
01:19My name is Craig Telfer and today I am joined by two big bulky boys
01:24to talk about the highest of highs.
01:27Up first, what happens when you dress a toilet brush in Burton's menswear?
01:30It's Robert Borthwick.
01:31Hello Craig Telfer.
01:32He will razzle you.
01:34He will dazzle you.
01:35He'll bewitch you.
01:36He'll enrich you.
01:37He'll wow you.
01:38And then he'll pow you.
01:39It's Sean McGuigan.
01:40Hello!
01:42Guys, it is three days on since that historic night.
01:45How are you both feeling?
01:52Enjoy the show.
01:58Yes, Scotland have done it.
02:0028 years of hurt, gone after four stunning goals and an incredible night at Hamden.
02:06The three of us were there for it.
02:08How was it for you guys?
02:10Unreal.
02:11It was ridiculous.
02:12I've been to Hamden so many times.
02:14I've seen so many different games there.
02:15I've seen Hearts win two Scottish Cup finals there.
02:17I think that was up there.
02:18It was up there with it.
02:19What a night it was.
02:20And I can still hear your voice.
02:21You still have a voice as well.
02:23Absolutely done.
02:24It was the best game of football I've ever been to.
02:27Just in terms of the roller coaster you went through over the course of the game.
02:31Opening the match with an absolutely incredible goal.
02:34Playing pretty poorly for most of the first half and a bit of the second.
02:39Then pulling out the end for two incredible goals.
02:42I was going to say it was the best game of football I've ever been to.
02:44But I don't actually think that does it justice.
02:45It might be arguably the best night of my life.
02:49I know that seems ridiculous but I think when you think about all the best Scottish moments.
02:56It all feels like it happened yesteryear.
02:59Whether it's iconic goals or qualifying for the World Cup or winning a do or die game.
03:05It feels like those are things that previous generations of football fans have been able to enjoy.
03:10But actually we were able to tick off all three of those things across 90 minutes.
03:14It was sensational.
03:15Yeah, it was incredible.
03:16And I suppose if we're going to start by looking back at the match we have to start with Scott
03:22McTominay's goal after three minutes that kicked off the match.
03:25This was just a phenomenal goal.
03:27Ben Gannon clips the ball into the box from the edge of the area.
03:31And there's Scott McTominay rising to deliver just a breathtaking overhead kick.
03:36The air that he gets, like the amount of hang time as well, it's just a ridiculous goal.
03:41I know he scored a similar-ish one for Napoli when they won the Scudetto but this was so far
03:47and above it.
03:48I absolutely lost my mind.
03:50But there was a tiny portion of my brain thought, well they'd disallow this for high feet.
03:56Because his foot is literally eight feet in the air.
03:58If that isn't a high feet, I don't know what is.
04:00But thankfully they didn't.
04:00I liked his celebration where he was sort of running into the constant, like, calm down.
04:04Calm down.
04:04Sir, you have just scored one of the greatest goals in Scottish football history.
04:09I don't think anyone in that ground could be calm.
04:11And I was celebrating with just like strings around me, just screeching, just going, oh my God, oh my God,
04:16oh my God.
04:17Just touching people who are just going through the same sort of emotions.
04:21Just that sense of electricity.
04:22It was absolutely extraordinary.
04:24There was something else I really liked about the goal.
04:26And FIFA captured this incredible still image of the big man hanging in the air, getting his foot onto that
04:32ball.
04:33They posted it onto the social media.
04:34And it feels like that is going to become a defining image of Scottish football.
04:39It's going to be up there with, like, Joe Jordan selling it against Czechoslovakia.
04:43Archie Gemmel running away his hand in the air against the Netherlands.
04:46It's just a spectacular moment.
04:48Denmark and Greece will be spitting.
04:50Because, like, you know, Scotland have just come out of nowhere as I will win the group.
04:54So, and they've already seen it at the World Cup.
04:55And it feels like both of those teams are maybe better than us.
04:58But we've had the luck on our side.
05:00Oh, of course.
05:00And we've ruled our luck.
05:01We've defended well when we've needed to as well.
05:04But all of that just culminated in how it finished.
05:06And your boy, Lauren Shanklin, getting the goal as well?
05:08Listen, Steve Clarke said to himself, if you need goals, play Lauren Shanklin.
05:13It was going to be the most forgettable goal of that game because the other three were remarkable.
05:17But he did what, you know, Dykes and Adams didn't.
05:19He got himself in the right area and tapped it in from a yard out.
05:23I just, I'm delighted for him.
05:24I'm really, really happy for him because he's deserved this challenge.
05:27Funnily enough, of all the four goals, I actually didn't celebrate that one because I thought it was going to
05:31be disallowed.
05:32I thought, I couldn't quite see it, but it seemed to, like, swing straight in.
05:35And I thought, hmm, I think there might have been a foul in there.
05:38So I was very tentative when the referee spotted well.
05:41I was like, yes, there we go, now we're talking.
05:43I was in a classic Hampden seat, so a terrible view at the other end of the pit.
05:47I thought I'd gone straight in from the corner.
05:48I had no idea who'd scored it.
05:50Yeah, aye, it was wild.
05:52And we go from there to there when Patrick Dorgo equalises from Denmark minutes later.
05:57So, yes, as much as it kind of burst the bubble and as much as everybody was deflated.
06:02See, as a continuation from Saturday into Tuesday, nothing had made sense.
06:07Everything was very, very silly.
06:09I still thought we had a brilliant chance of scoring a third goal.
06:12And thankfully that was the case.
06:14Yeah, definitely.
06:14And that third goal came 93 minutes from Kieran Tierney.
06:17This is, again, one of the all-time great Hampden goals.
06:21At that point, again, completely lost the run of myself.
06:24We talk about the celebration of McTominay in that moment.
06:27I think the Kieran Tierney celebration of him not knowing what on earth he'd just done or where he was,
06:33and John McGinn going mental probably mimicked thousands of people in the stadium.
06:37There was probably folk like, oh, my God, we've done it.
06:39And then the John McGinn's of this were all just flying down several stairs.
06:42He looks, like, stupefied.
06:44He looks, like, in a state of, like, catatonia.
06:46Just, like, saying that he can't quite believe he's done it.
06:48And then there's big John McGinn just pouncing on his back.
06:50And what a moment.
06:52And it's incredible to think that moment was usurped five minutes later with Kenny McLean.
06:58Kenny McLean scoring from the half-wheeling.
07:01As soon as the ball left his foot, it felt like everybody in Hamden had a sharp intake of breath.
07:08You can actually hear the intake of breath when you watch the goal back.
07:12It feels like it kind of laid a few ghosts to rest when you think about the goal that we
07:15conceded in Euro 2020.
07:17Just an incredible way.
07:19Patrick Schick's goal against the Czech Republic.
07:21An incredible way to seal your passage to the World Cup.
07:24Just seeing Hamden like that and hearing Hamden like that.
07:27I slagged it off about 30 seconds ago about the terrible seats.
07:30But seeing when it's like that on nights like that and everyone's together and it's all going absolutely mental.
07:35It's unreal.
07:36There was nervy moments through the game, particularly the bit that was really annoying me,
07:40when Denmark were o-laying us when we couldn't get the ball off them.
07:43That's when I knew we would win.
07:44I was like, let's go back and bite you.
07:46And I did.
07:47We had an amazing time in Hamden on Tuesday night.
07:49And I think it's fair to say that everyone in Scotland had an amazing time.
07:53There's a brilliant clip that was posted to Instagram from a pub in Glasgow where everyone is having the absolute
07:58time of their lives.
08:15The celebrations, the noise, everything about that incredible.
08:18I can't take my eyes off that dug.
08:20Yeah.
08:22The dug has no concept of what's going on here by the way as well.
08:27Celebrating something.
08:28You wouldn't understand what's going on.
08:30You've heard the expression limbs.
08:31Now you hear the expression paws.
08:34Sorry, that was just a wee joke.
08:37The last time I was in that pub was when Scotland laboured to a 1-0 win in the Faroe
08:41Islands.
08:42Lyndon Dykes scored a late goal.
08:43There was about eight people in the pub and all of us were just moaning for the entire game.
08:47That looks much better.
08:47Much better.
08:48And there's a great video as well.
08:49You mentioned Kenny Maclean's goal.
08:51There was a brilliant video that was filmed by the Tartan Scarf and posted onto social media.
08:55He was just looking to film the end of the game and get the reactions.
08:58Instead, he managed to film one of the all-time great goals that Scotland have scored.
09:09CHEERING
09:23Genuinely getting goosebumps watching that again.
09:26I think there's something magic about...
09:27You know, I'm not the sort of guy that loves folk who are filming games the whole time.
09:31I think the Tartan Scarf had a great excuse there.
09:33He was waiting for the full-time whistle and wanted to capture that.
09:35Seeing the entire bench emptying and running down the sideline, going to meet Kenny Maclean.
09:41Scott McTominay running off with the corner flag.
09:43Like, everything that's captured in that video is kind of what you want to see.
09:46I didn't see it at the time because I was celebrating.
09:48I don't know what I was doing at that stage.
09:50But it's great to see stuff like that.
09:52It feels quite un-Scottish.
09:54Like, you see scenes like a bench emptying and sprinting down the park.
09:59I saw that a couple of nights ago when Ireland beat Hungary.
10:00Unreal.
10:01But I've never seen Scotland do it before.
10:03So to see that and to experience it, it is magic.
10:05And this was brilliantly summed up by Al Laman on BBC Sports and his commentary.
10:10His description, the way he loses his voice when he's watching this go back.
10:15This is absolutely phenomenal stuff too.
10:16Scotland just needs to hold out for a few more seconds.
10:21My voice just needs to hold out for a few more seconds.
10:24As Hulman has it.
10:25He's surrounded.
10:26He pokes the ball back.
10:28Surely now Scotland will hold on to possession.
10:30It's McLean.
10:31He's looking to go for goal.
10:33From the halfway line.
10:35It's Chip Smith.
10:37Oh!
10:40Oh!
10:40Oh!
10:41Oh!
10:42Yes!
10:42Kenny McLean with the halfway line!
10:45Scotland 4!
10:47Denmark 2!
10:48We are returning to the World Cup!
10:51He's commentating that like he's walking over Lego.
10:54While he's doing it.
10:55Scotland!
10:56I'm going to...
10:56Kenny McLean!
10:59That's not to say anything negative.
11:01That is phenomenal commentary.
11:02It ties back into what we spoke about a couple of weeks ago with like club commentary.
11:07Ultimately they're just fans who have got microphones in front of them.
11:09I think Al Lamont summed up what the entire nation was going through when that ball was sailing through there
11:14and just dropping into the net.
11:15I love how wrong he was.
11:17Surely now we'll just keep possession.
11:18No, no, no.
11:19No, no, no.
11:20We'll try and score from 120 yards.
11:22You can hear Michael Stewart in the background just sort of quietly saying,
11:24pick it.
11:26Go on then.
11:27Why not?
11:27Now Al Lamont wasn't the only person to lose their voice.
11:30Ali McCoyst, of course, one of the most celebrated broadcasters in the game at the moment.
11:35He wasn't able to make this match.
11:37He was in Las Vegas inexplicably, but he reported from this game he was buzzing with a capital B.
11:45Oh, man alive.
11:47Man alive.
11:49I'm absolutely, voice is gone.
11:53Buzzing with capital B.
11:55Buzzing capital B.
11:57Oh, man.
11:59I'm gonna die, Coke.
12:01What time was it there because there's nobody else in the pub?
12:05It's just a really lonely day or evening.
12:08We need to learn.
12:09Of course.
12:10You'll be getting to hang out in Las Vegas pubs at like 6 in the morning like Ali McCoyst.
12:14McCoyst is there until the World Cup.
12:17Robert, I remember a couple of years ago you missed out on a very important Scotland match
12:21because you're going to the cinema.
12:22Am I right in saying that?
12:23I went to see James Bond instead of the Israel game, aye.
12:26Oh, that was a 3-2 game when Scott McTominay scored an injury time.
12:29That's right.
12:29Well, you'll know exactly how these guys felt.
12:31This was a video that was filmed at a scary four gig.
12:34It looked like one of their technicians was watching the match while the band were playing live.
12:40Oh, man.
12:43Oh!
12:44Oh, man.
12:45Oh, man.
12:47Oh, boy.
13:05Oh, boy.
13:08Imagine going to the stagehand, like, my violin, there's no music coming to it.
13:11I don't care, Scotland, I'm going to the World Cup, fix it yourself.
13:14Imagine there's maybe people in the crowd who aren't really football fans.
13:18Gig was ruined.
13:19I think if there's a person who really captured the mood
13:22of how Scotland fans around the world are feeling, it's Michelle McManus.
13:27You know, Scottish pop singer, now a media personality.
13:29She was being interviewed after the game with Batman.
13:32I know, we were all saying...
13:33We've been waiting all this time.
13:34Oh, look at this. We've been waiting all this time.
13:36We've been waiting all this time.
13:37Was it ever in doubt?
13:39I mean, at the beginning, no, it was not in doubt.
13:41We were like, oh, three, one, easy.
13:42But as the night was progressing, we were just like,
13:44please, this is the torture of being a Scotland fan.
13:46It is the hope that will kill you.
13:48But no more, my darling.
13:49We're all trying to...
13:50We're all going to...
13:50We're all going to SkyScan, and they're now trying to pick flights.
13:52Are you going to America?
13:54Oh, I mean, I'll be going to America.
13:56And apparently, I'm going to Batman.
13:58There's a lot to unpack from this clip here.
14:01Well, Michelle McManus and Batman, did they go to the game together?
14:04Did they meet afterwards?
14:05Did they just happen to be drawn towards the Sky Sports cameras there?
14:08That boy's been out since Halloween.
14:10He's actually been home in the last couple of weeks.
14:12Great punt as well,
14:13bringing in Michelle McManus' world-famous single all this time
14:16and referencing it in comparison to Scotland
14:19finally getting to a World Cup final.
14:22I just...
14:22Why?
14:23Why is it just...
14:26Why is it just as Batman?
14:27Why is it holding the World Cup?
14:28I could have, maybe the idea of all those other Scotland shirts
14:30were in the wash.
14:31That's the only thing he had available,
14:33was just his Batman talks.
14:36He could have just been out of the mask as well,
14:39which is slightly too big for him.
14:40I'd actually have the mask.
14:41Well, can't he just wear the suit without the mask?
14:43I'll look stupid otherwise.
14:44He missed three goals because his mask kept slipping.
14:49Now, I think as well,
14:50we've looked at it from the more humorous side.
14:52I think we've got to look at it from the emotional side as well.
14:55And I think that Andy Robertson, the captain,
14:56gave it a really stirring post-match interview
14:59when he spoke about how much Scotland qualifying
15:01for the World Cup finals means.
15:03Today, I've been in bits.
15:06I know that the age I'm at and everything,
15:08this could be my last chance in the World Cup.
15:11I couldn't get my mate, Diogo,
15:13out of my head today.
15:16We spoke so much together about the World Cup.
15:21When he missed out on guitar because of injury, I missed out.
15:24Scotland never went and we always discussed
15:27what it'd be like going to this World Cup.
15:29I know he'll be somewhere smiling over me today.
15:32And, yeah, I just couldn't get him out of my head the whole day.
15:35I think it's amazing.
15:36You know, Andy Robertson is using Diogo Jota
15:38as his motivation here.
15:40But I think everyone, not just in that squad,
15:42probably everyone in Scotland,
15:43has stories about, right, we're going to a World Cup.
15:46Who's missed out?
15:47Who's not going to be there?
15:49You know, all the emotion and the inspiration you take from that,
15:52I think that it's replicated throughout the country.
15:55He has very eloquently put,
15:56he's brilliant, Andy Robertson, he really is.
15:59But seeing that emotion and understanding
16:01that it's not just him, it's everyone has those sorts of stories.
16:04I was kind of thinking about my grandad after the game last night
16:06because it was my grandad that started taking me to Raith Rovers games,
16:09my grandad that started taking me to Scotland games.
16:11And you're right, he was used to us qualifying for World Cups.
16:14He would have loved Tuesday night.
16:16There's a lot of great stories within the Scotland squad at the moment,
16:19but Craig Gordons is perhaps the most noteworthy.
16:23You know, if he does get selected to go and play the World Cup finals,
16:27he'll be 43 years old.
16:29What a story, what a journey he's been on.
16:31I think there shouldn't really be much of a question anymore
16:34as whether he should play or will play the World Cup.
16:37I think he absolutely should, and I think he will.
16:39What a story, though.
16:40I mean, his entire career, I know, like, you know,
16:43Dumbarton put something out the other day
16:45about, obviously, he was training with them
16:47when he was basically on the brink of retirement the first time around.
16:50He nearly retired in the summer
16:52and Steve Clarke told him not to.
16:53He said, you've still got something left in you.
16:55He's played 33 World Cup qualifiers
16:57over five different World Cup campaigns.
17:00Scotland put it to best themselves when they tweeted out
17:02saying no one deserves it more.
17:04I think of everyone in that squad, he is the one.
17:06He has been the sort of ever-present.
17:09And maybe not playing every time,
17:10but what a goalkeeper, what a performer.
17:13And honestly, I am so happy for him.
17:15It wasn't that long ago that he was brought on against Finland
17:17for, like, a kind of farewell performance at Hampden.
17:20But now, based on those two games,
17:22it almost feels ridiculous that there was some kind of discussion
17:25about who should be in goals for the Greece game
17:27and the Danish game.
17:29If you are a Scottish defender or any Scottish player,
17:32you want Craig Gordon behind you
17:33because he has such an aura about him
17:36that nobody else in, that we have to play in goals, has.
17:38You mentioned there the Greece game.
17:41Let's jump back to Saturday night.
17:43The three of us actually watched the game in the pub together
17:45and I don't think we were quite as a bully
17:48after that first hour in Athens.
17:51We were 3-0 down at one point.
17:53A real terrible performance.
17:55What were your thoughts going back to the weekend?
17:57I just enjoyed watching Tony,
17:59who was also with us, losing his mind.
18:02Get Clark out the door!
18:03Get him in the bin!
18:04He has taken us to two Euro tournaments
18:06and a World Cup, our first in 28 years, by the way.
18:11What's his legacy like then?
18:12I mean, I think it's secured now, to be honest with you.
18:15He's a modern great of Scottish management.
18:17A great? Take out the word modern.
18:19Take out modern. He's a great.
18:20Absolutely fair enough.
18:21And I think that, you know, he said it himself
18:24and I quite liked this in an interview after the game.
18:27He was like, you know, if I need to give myself some credit,
18:29I was like, you've got to sleep, right?
18:31Absolutely ram it down everyone's throat.
18:33But he justified and sort of defended.
18:35He's like, that's why I pick the same guys every time.
18:37Because it is a process that takes a number of years.
18:39It's not something you just do game by game.
18:41And he defended that.
18:43And it makes sense when he says it.
18:44You know, it's like, yes, I am very loyal to certain players,
18:47but this is why.
18:48It's for moments like this, Kenny McLean.
18:50Yeah.
18:50He's one of them.
18:51You know, this is why he does it.
18:53Steve Clarke can come across as quite a doer character.
18:56Seeing him go off his head at the end,
18:58seeing him sprinting down to join the rest of the players.
19:00We've just seen a side to him that we've never seen before.
19:02And it was great to see him completely lose the run of himself
19:05in the moment as well.
19:06If he's smiling, you know it's a special moment.
19:08Yes.
19:09And it's going to be a special moment next summer
19:11when we go to the World Cup.
19:13USA, Canada and Mexico won't know what's hit it.
19:16How are you feeling about the tournament itself?
19:20As a third seed,
19:22I would like us to get Canada, Iran and Curacao
19:27ending up with one point.
19:29A goal difference of minus five.
19:31But no, listen, why not?
19:33We are the luckiest team in the world.
19:34Let's carry that luck to the tournament.
19:49Oh, happy birthday to me.
19:54A big 40, right and a half.
20:07Can I eat it as well?
20:09Do you want me to sing the song?
20:11Jo, love is nearly 40
20:13I guess her hair is turning grey
20:17She'll be on the pension very shortly
20:21Oh, how she longs for yesterday
20:25Yeah, I think I might cry on my birthday
20:28It's like 20, it's just a wee bit too grown up for me
20:32In my head, I don't feel like I'm 40
20:35I'm trying to think what age my mum is
20:37Because I'm scared she's younger than my mum
20:39I don't want to say that
20:41I do wish I was 20 again
20:43because I know that it's going to come to an end soon
20:46She still runs rings round me
20:47and I'm half her age
20:49I'm Jo Love
20:50I play for Partick Thistle
20:52and I'm turning 40
20:53My name's Jennifer Ferguson
20:55I play for Partick Thistle
20:56and I'm about to turn 20
21:00Oh, this is old stuff
21:10Today they've gone for youth in their squad
21:12Joanne Love is already looking to a professional career in the game
21:16Of course I'm sure that would be any girls' room today
21:18They follow a career in football
21:20So hopefully
21:21This is the biggest stage we're going to be playing on this week
21:25So I suppose this is my chance to shine
21:27If it's something that I ever want to do
21:31I don't remember that at all
21:32But it was going to be my chance to shine
21:34No, I seemed quite carefree back then
21:37I'm so proud of how it's panned out
21:51When you're younger
21:52I remember seeing Jo on my TV
21:56You're always looking up to those players
21:58Because you want to be one of them
22:00I'm the most capped outfield Scottish player
22:04I have 191 caps
22:08I've won 15 league titles
22:11I've been to the Champions League quarterfinals twice
22:15At the moment I'm in and out the team
22:24Hopefully break out into the team and start more
22:28As time went on
22:30The game's become more professional
22:33It's changed so much
22:40There's a lot of pressure now on these girls
22:43To be doing the right things
22:45Training the right way
22:47Taking care of yourself off the pitch
22:52When I was younger
22:53We just really had a head coach
22:55And sometimes a physio
22:58If you were lucky
22:59I've got three coaches
23:01A goalie coach
23:02A physio
23:03And a sports scientist
23:06Most people that play football
23:08As their ambition is to go professional at some point
23:11We had done it for free for so long
23:14And it was just for the love of the game
23:19I do think that a lot of the younger players now
23:22Do take things for granted
23:23It's not their fault
23:25They don't know what's gone before them
23:31I think I'm approachable
23:38There'll be some girls come up to me
23:40And say what should we do now
23:57You know you can always go to her
23:59If you need something
24:01She'll be there
24:02And she'll give you an answer
24:19For the last two seasons
24:21I've thought about packing it in
24:28But last year my mum passed away
24:31It made me look at football
24:35In a different light
24:37And I feel like it
24:40It takes me away
24:43From real life
24:44So
24:47I want to just
24:50Do that for her
25:08To Jenna
25:09Happy birthday
25:10I'm sure this year's going to be your best year
25:14According to the internet
25:16Football is peaking around 26
25:18You've got plenty of time yet
25:21Hey Joe
25:22Happy 40th birthday
25:25You're a legend of the game
25:26And getting the chance to play alongside you
25:29And learn from you
25:29Has been incredible
25:31The future's yours to shape
25:32Here's to many more wins
25:34For as long as I can keep up with you
25:37If I can achieve
25:39Half of what you have achieved
25:42I'll be more than happy
25:44I hope we can play together
25:46For a few years yet
25:47Love from Jenna
25:49From Joe
25:52That's so sweet
25:54I'd say she's more a friend
25:55Than like a mother figure
25:57It'd be great if I could be in her shoes
26:00A few years down the line
26:02There's nothing better than being
26:03Out on the pitch
26:04And putting your boots on
26:06You really have to appreciate the moment
26:09I still love it
26:11There's no doubt
26:19Scottish shoeball is the coolest commodity on the planet
26:23And everyone wants their slice of the pie
26:25Including some of the biggest celebrities on the planet
26:29Just this summer
26:30In fact, Matt Damon
26:31The Hollywood superstar
26:32Was pictured holding a bonnie rigged rose shirt
26:35Of all things
26:36During a trip to a ski centre
26:38And it got me thinking
26:40It got me thinking
26:41I know a ski centre
26:42I know a ski centre
26:43Matt Damon
26:44Are you sure that happened?
26:45Yes, I am sure
26:46That he's pictured with a bonnie rigged rose top
26:49And I think it's time that we explore
26:51That bizarre intersection
26:53Of Scottish football and celebrities
26:54And that little bit
26:56Where they meet in the middle
26:57Now, we all support prominent Scottish football teams
27:00What about Heart of Midlothian?
27:01I think that we are probably quite well known
27:03Within Hollywood's elite
27:04Because of the hit TV show Succession
27:06Where Brian Cox's stupid kids
27:09Buy Hearts by mistake
27:10When he's in fact a Hibernian fan
27:13But I think obviously a lot of it was shot in Scotland
27:15Hearts is mentioned a lot
27:17It gives me the ick
27:18When Americans say Hearts
27:20Or Heart of Midlothian
27:21But at the same time
27:22I'll welcome their support and their money
27:24It might surprise you to know
27:25That Stenhouse Muir
27:26Actually have a number of big celebrity fans
27:29They've got Michael Palin
27:30They've got Marlon from Emmerdale
27:31And they have Isaiah Whitlock Jr
27:34Star of The Wire
27:35Star of Cocaine Bear
27:36And star of Goodfellas
27:37He was created as a doctor
27:39A small role
27:39But it's in one of the greatest movies of all time
27:42For a couple of years
27:43He used to share tweets about Stenhouse Muir
27:45On social media
27:46And no one ever really got to the bottom
27:48Of how and why he likes the Warriors
27:50And then he just dipped
27:51Then he just dipped
27:52I think his last tweet was in 2022
27:54So he's missed the recent big times
27:56So, I mean, really
27:58If you wanted to get into Stenhouse Muir
28:00You did it a wee bit too early
28:02It's the very opposite of a glory hunter
28:03Yes, I
28:04A misery hunter
28:05A misery hunter
28:06One of the ways that celebrities interact with Scottish football
28:10Is through charity matches
28:11We've got an excellent example here
28:13From September 2013
28:15It's Louis Tomlinson
28:16From pop boy band One Direction
28:19This is him being sick
28:20At a game at Celtic Park
28:37To be fair
28:38I've got a degree of sympathy for Louis Tomlinson
28:40Because I used to play for the Pine Bovel Select Team
28:43This is a group of people who used the website
28:45Struggling for numbers?
28:46Very much so
28:47I'd like to say it was more about the social aspect
28:49Than it was about the football
28:50I had held a flat party the night before
28:53I was very much worse for wear the following day
28:55I had no fit condition to play football
28:57And while Louis Tomlinson at least waited
29:00Until he was off the pitch
29:01Before being sick
29:02I actually did it in the centre circle
29:04I'll say this
29:05I did not make the second half
29:07In that match
29:08So you were so incapacitated
29:10You couldn't make it to the sidelines
29:11At least
29:12Did it just hit you?
29:13It just came to me
29:14But the funny thing was
29:15I do remember
29:15Being sick
29:16And getting past the ball
29:17And actually playing a really nice ball out wide
29:19For the oinger
29:21It all just happened so quickly
29:22But I think that was one of my final games
29:24For the football team
29:26Can I bring you the best example
29:28Of celebrities interacting with Scottish football?
29:31We're going to the fifth round
29:32Of the Scottish Cup draw
29:33In 2016-2017
29:35And one of the greatest pop stars
29:37This nation has ever produced
29:39Rod Stewart
29:40Doing the most iconic Scottish Cup draw
29:43Of all time
29:44Sir Rod
29:45Yes
29:45Would you please do the home ties
29:47Now
29:47And Alan
29:48Will you please draw the weight ties
29:50Ready
29:51Take your time
29:55Number four
29:56Don Firmland
29:58Athletic
29:59Getting down to the big boys now
30:02Shit
30:03Number three
30:06Celtic
30:09There we go
30:10This is brilliant
30:12I know this clip gets played
30:14A lot
30:15But I think there's so much joy
30:17There's so many different elements
30:19That make this hilarious
30:20I was actually watching this
30:21In a pub with Joe Sked
30:23Me and Joe were like
30:24Is he a bust?
30:26And then he almost impersonates a heron
30:28With his arm moved
30:29And then screams the word
30:30Four
30:31You're left in no doubt
30:32This man has had a boozy lunch
30:33You've got Alan Stubbs here
30:35He's the straight man
30:36Throughout all this
30:37You know what I mean
30:38He's very much
30:39There sort of
30:39Mildly guffawing
30:40At Rod Stewart
30:41And you go
30:42There's a reason why
30:43Rod Stewart's headlining
30:43Glastonbury
30:44When Alan Stubbs was pumped out
30:45Of St Mirren
30:46After three months
30:47It's brilliant that Rod Stewart
30:48Has had, I don't know
30:49Twelve pints that afternoon
30:50But he's still better
30:51At the draw than Alan Stubbs
30:52He had six and nine mixed up
30:54Hopefully
30:54The great bit at the end though
30:56There's a bit where
30:57Alan McRae's concluded the draw
30:58Shake hands with Alan Stubbs
31:00Fives him
31:00Because he shake hands
31:02With Rod Stewart
31:03It's not even that
31:04He actually sort of goes like that
31:05To try and get his attention
31:06To get his hand
31:07Now we'll talk about Celtic's adventures
31:11In the world of rap
31:12This
31:13This is a video from
31:15October 2017
31:16And this is
31:17Gerry McCulloch
31:18From Celtic TV
31:19Alongside Mark Wilson
31:20Interviewing Coolio
31:22This is a man
31:23Who's our very special guest
31:24This afternoon
31:25To Celtic Park
31:26A gangster in paradise
31:29We have
31:29Ladies and gentlemen
31:30American rap superstar
31:31Coolio is here
31:33Coolio
31:33What brings you
31:34To paradise?
31:36Hey man
31:37I brought the gangster paradise
31:38To the real paradise
31:40The Celtic paradise
31:41Hell hell
31:41So why are you here?
31:43Because
31:43My boy Tommy man
31:45He's been telling me
31:45About the Celtics for years
31:47And I'm a fan through him
31:49And I wanted to
31:52I wanted to come
31:52And see it for myself
31:53Mark Wilson as well
31:54You know
31:55Doesn't say a single word
31:56On this
31:56But you can tell
31:57When Coolio
31:58Disguise him as the Celtics
32:00Mark Wilson's like
32:01What?
32:02Excuse me?
32:03Entry to get in there
32:03Incorrecting him
32:04It's not worth it
32:05Mark Wilson's sort of
32:06Just kind of like
32:07Bewildered
32:07I don't think he's ever
32:08Listened to gangster's paradise
32:09You know
32:09He's perhaps unfamiliar
32:11I'll see you when you get there
32:12Not sure of his body
32:13Or what
32:13That's why he's a wee bit
32:14Unfamiliar to him
32:15And on top of that as well
32:17Jerry McCulloch says
32:18Straight out of Compton
32:19Yeah
32:19You can tell that he
32:20Just inserts that
32:21In the conversation
32:22Because he's aware
32:23It's a phrase
32:24That he's heard before
32:25In rap music
32:25Coolio is from Pennsylvania
32:27It's literally the opposite coast
32:28It's 2,600 miles away
32:30It's like saying
32:31I'm from Algeria
32:31Now
32:32Kimmy Mallet
32:33Famed children's entertainer
32:34He has now turned his hand
32:36To vlogging
32:37And here's a clip
32:38That was posted on his
32:38TikTok page
32:39For Peterhead
32:40From 2022
32:43It's a fine and sunny day
32:46In Peterhead
32:47I'm in Balmore
32:49The lovely ground
32:51Of Peterhead
32:52Football Club
32:53Yes
32:54The Blue Toon
32:56This is a lovely day
32:57It's a great moment
32:58And the ground
33:00Is actually owned
33:01By the groundsman
33:02Yes
33:03Love it
33:04You can go on the pitch
33:05As long as you
33:06Take your shoes off first
33:08I just want to check
33:10Mr Mallet
33:11Did you have actually
33:12Permission to go on
33:13To the pitch
33:14Because there's
33:14There's no one else
33:15Around you
33:15I don't know if you
33:16Went there very very
33:17Early in the morning
33:18Before the groundsman
33:19Actually got there
33:19Had to wander around
33:20And disappeared
33:21Also Mr Mallet
33:22Are you suggesting
33:23Is he not wearing shoes
33:24I was actually hoping
33:25He would tip the camera
33:27Down and see his
33:28Big feet
33:28He's very very enthusiastic
33:30Though
33:31He's certainly very enthusiastic
33:32About saying the word
33:33Peterhead
33:34He's enthusiastic about
33:35Everything
33:35What if I told you
33:36That David Hasselhoff
33:37Was a Partick Thistle fan
33:39Would you believe me
33:39No
33:40Well Sean
33:41I have got something
33:42Right up my sleeve
33:43That is going to
33:44Absolutely knock your socks off
33:46This is David Hasselhoff
33:47The Partick Thistle fan
33:49Speaking to the BBC
33:50Back in December 2015
33:52When he was doing
33:53Panto in Glasgow
33:55Well I'm here at the Clyde Auditorium
33:57To meet Partick Thistle's
33:58Latest supporter
34:00No not him
34:01Him
34:02It's David Hasselhoff
34:03Don't you just love me
34:04He's Captain Hook
34:06Yeah we've got 18 shows left
34:07So you know
34:08We've been supporting you guys
34:10Over there
34:10At Partick Thistle
34:11We'll get some of the boys
34:12Come down and see the show
34:13You know
34:13Why Partick Thistle
34:14Partick Thistle is a team
34:15That's for the people
34:16You know
34:16It's like
34:17Night Rider was a show
34:18About one man can make a difference
34:20You can make a difference
34:21In your own life
34:22You make a difference
34:23In your own life
34:23You make a difference
34:24In someone else's life
34:25That's what the team's about
34:26I think
34:26The fact that John Barnes
34:27Is kind of in his flow
34:29He's trying to introduce him
34:30And he just pops
34:31Out the
34:32Out of that mess
34:33They go
34:34Arrr
34:35Totally disrupts introduction
34:36The immediacy
34:38With which
34:39He compares Partick Thistle
34:40To Night Rider
34:42It's probably my favourite part
34:43It's like
34:44It's the one thing
34:45That he knows
34:45To compare anything to
34:47He knows two things
34:48Night Rider
34:48Baywatch
34:49The third thing
34:50Singing on top of the Berlin Wall
34:51The only three things
34:53In the communism
34:55That's it
34:56Well you know something
34:57If you want to meet
34:58David Hasselhoff
34:59In the flesh
35:00May I suggest
35:01That you go to
35:01Fur Hill tomorrow
35:02Where Partick Thistle
35:04Are taking on
35:04St John's
35:05And there are a number
35:06Of big games
35:07Taking place
35:08Around the country
35:09Over the weekend
35:10But I think the biggest
35:11Is the top of the table
35:12Clash in the championship
35:13I was going to say
35:14It's the kind of
35:15Biggest and best game
35:16In the lower leagues
35:16It might actually be
35:17The biggest and best game
35:18In the country
35:18I think so
35:19I think so
35:19I'm really really
35:20Looking forward to this one
35:21It feels like it's
35:22A six pointer
35:23At the moment
35:23I mean there's six points
35:24Between the clubs
35:25Albeit Partick Thistle
35:26Have got a game in hand
35:27But it feels like
35:28It's a match
35:29They really need to win
35:30If they want to stay
35:31Keeping the pace
35:32With St John's
35:33At the top of the table
35:34I've been really impressed
36:04With Mark Wilson
36:34He didn't always
36:35They left it
36:36What are we saying for this one
36:37Partick Thistle
36:37Versus St John'son
36:38I'm going to take
36:39Partick Thistle
36:40I'm going to take Thistle
36:41I've really liked
36:42What I've seen from them
36:43This season
36:44But also I've always had
36:45A big soft spot for Thistle
36:46Anyway I'd love to see them
36:47Come up as well
36:48As St John'son
36:48I wouldn't be surprised
36:49If Thistle win
36:50However I just think
36:51St John'son are
36:52A better side
36:53And unless Thistle
36:55Can really play
36:55Above themselves
36:56I do fancy an away one
36:58We'll go from
36:59The Championship
36:59To the big game
37:00In the Premiership
37:01We'll go to the
37:02North East of the country
37:04Aberdeen versus
37:05Heart of Midlothian
37:05This feels like
37:06The game that has
37:07The most amount of
37:09Subplots
37:09Like this time
37:10Last season
37:11Aberdeen were in
37:12The same position
37:12That Hearts are in now
37:14And it was roughly
37:14At this point
37:15That they started to
37:16The descent started
37:18I'm not entirely sure
37:19That descent's finished
37:19But we'll see how it goes
37:20The fact that
37:21Hearts are unbeaten
37:22The fact that
37:23It's Derek McInnes
37:24Is returning to Pataudry
37:25The fact that
37:25Aberdeen have the
37:27Opportunity to inflict
37:28Hearts first defeat
37:29This season
37:29There is just so much
37:30To
37:30So much intriguing
37:32Elements to this game
37:33And on top of that
37:33Hearts have got a
37:34Really bad record
37:35At Pataudry
37:35We've not won there
37:36Since 2016
37:38How many likes
37:39Which bad is that?
37:39Abiola Dowda
37:40In our post-split
37:42Fixture 1-0
37:43Thursday night
37:44On the telly
37:46The big game
37:48Scoring a rebound
37:49From a free kick
37:50I think you're right
37:50There's so many
37:51Subplots in this one
37:52And I think that
37:53Whichever way
37:54It ends up going
37:55You'll be like
37:55I knew that was
37:56Going to happen
37:57Because of all the
37:57Subplots
37:58And that could be
37:58An Aberdeen win
37:59Or it could be
37:59A Hearts win
38:00At the same time
38:01I think that
38:01Obviously the comparison
38:02With Hearts and
38:04Aberdeen from last season
38:05Will keep going
38:05Until Hearts disproved that
38:08And I think this is
38:09A great opportunity
38:09For them to do that
38:10I think if you go to
38:11Pataudry and win
38:12Then you know
38:13Folk
38:13I get it's another
38:14Statement win
38:15We've beaten Celtic
38:15We've beaten Rangers
38:16We've beaten Hibbs
38:17We've beaten Aberdeen already
38:18It would just be
38:19Another statement win
38:20And keep the good run going
38:21So I think it's
38:22A really interesting game
38:23I think the weather
38:23Is meant to be horrendous
38:25So I'm very much
38:26Looking forward to
38:27Making a trip to
38:27Pataudry on Sunday
38:28Scores for this one Sean
38:29I think Aberdeen will win
38:31Because Hearts are just
38:32Rank against the Dons
38:33I'll go to a home win
38:34Yeah I'm going for
38:35An Aberdeen as well
38:35Robert
38:36What are you saying
38:37For this one
38:37That will be
38:38Hearts 3 Aberdeen now
38:39Before we wrap up
38:41This week's show
38:43Can I ask the two of you
38:45To take me on
38:46At a game called
38:47The Banker
38:48Yes
38:49We are competing for
38:50The Eamon Brophy
38:51Lone Wolf Trophy
38:53And after last week
38:55The league table
38:56Looks a little bit like this
38:57Sean you correctly
38:58Predicted that
38:59East Kilbride
38:59Would beat Stranra
39:00I correctly predicted
39:02That Glasgow City
39:03Would beat Montrose
39:04One point each
39:05Meaning it's still
39:06A two point gap
39:07Between us and the table
39:08I am still leading
39:09So this really is
39:11A big week for you both
39:13Otherwise
39:13That trophy's coming
39:15Back to mind for Christmas
39:17This week's stipulation
39:19Is the no plastics rule
39:21You can only pick
39:22From matches
39:22Taking place on grass
39:24In the SPFL
39:26So not that much
39:27To choose from
39:28But plenty of intrigue
39:29All the same
39:30Young Robert
39:31Will come to yourself
39:32First
39:32What are you picking
39:33For your team
39:34I am going to
39:35Take the three of you
39:36To fourth bank
39:37For Sterling Albion
39:39Against Elgin City
39:40And it will come as no surprise
39:41That I am going for
39:42Elgin City
39:43To win that one
39:44They have won
39:44Five on the bounds
39:45Sterling Albion
39:47Have been
39:49Atrocious
39:49Yeah
39:504-0 to 4-4
39:51Athletic at the weekend
39:524-0 to 4-4
39:53And I mean
39:55Alan Mabry
39:55Kind of feels like
39:56He's maybe coming to the end
39:57Now this could be
39:58The final nail in the coffin
39:59And I've got full faith
40:00In Elgin to get the points
40:02And get one point for us
40:03Yeah that's actually
40:04Quite a smart pick
40:06I'm going for
40:07Not so much a smart pick
40:08But perhaps
40:09The most obvious pick
40:10In the calendar
40:10I am going to
40:12Ibrox where Rangers
40:13Are taking on Livingston
40:14And I am backing
40:15The teddy bears
40:16To get the three points
40:18Here
40:18Look at Rangers
40:19Recent form
40:19I think they are
40:20Beginning to hit
40:21A bit of a groove
40:21Under Danny Roll
40:22They're not a fantastic side
40:24By any means
40:24They're still
40:25A very flawed
40:26Group of players
40:27But I think
40:27He's found a
40:28He's found a structure
40:29He's found a system
40:30That has maybe
40:31Unlocked them
40:31To get the best out of them
40:33And I think
40:33At Ibrox
40:34They'll have too much
40:35For Livingston
40:35So it's quite an obvious pick
40:36So that's why
40:37I'm backing Rangers
40:38For this one
40:39Sean
40:39What's the second pick?
40:41So I'm going for
40:41Inverness
40:42To defeat
40:43Queen of the South
40:44Oh okay
40:44Talk us through that one
40:45I mean Inverness
40:46Are still accumulating points
40:48I don't know if
40:49Their performances
40:49Had they been that good
40:50Recently
40:51Generally winning by
40:52A single goal to nil
40:53And I think
40:54This will be a hard game
40:55As much as
40:55Queen of the South
40:56Are sitting fifth on the table
40:57They are still a full time team
40:58In League One
40:59They're so inconsistent
41:00Queen of the South
41:01I was going to say
41:02That they are very much
41:03Hot and cold
41:03Under Peter Murphy
41:04But generally on
41:05The cold side
41:07They'll certainly look warm
41:08At best
41:09At points
41:09So I just think
41:10That Inverness
41:10Will have too much
41:11For them
41:11And this will
41:11Kind of underline
41:13Their title credentials
41:14Yeah fair play
41:14That's two very smart picks
41:16From the pair of you
41:17I'm going to
41:19Another very obvious pick
41:20In the Premiership
41:21Do you think we want the trophy
41:22Come on
41:23Come on
41:23And I'm going for
41:24Hibernian to beat Dundee
41:26The reason for this one
41:28Is
41:28While
41:29Hibbs
41:30Sterling
41:313-0 win
41:31Over St Mirren
41:32Last time
41:32But I know prior to that
41:33They hadn't been
41:34In great form
41:34They're coming up
41:35Against Dundee
41:36I don't think Dundee
41:37Are a particularly good team
41:38The last time
41:38We got a good look at them
41:39Was when they played
41:40Rangers at Dense Park
41:42And I know that's a match
41:43That I probably expected to lose
41:44But they just didn't
41:45Really offer anything at all
41:46And I think that's been
41:47The story of the season
41:49For the Dees
41:49So I'm expecting that
41:51To continue
41:51Three points for
41:52David Gray's
41:53Cabbage and Ribs
41:54One point for me
41:55Meaning I am
41:56One step closer
41:57To bringing that up the road
41:59Feels good
41:59Feels good
42:00Very confident
42:01Very confident
42:02You're just celebrating
42:04The inevitable
42:05Not winning though
42:06At the end
42:07Because you're like
42:07Oh I get to take it home
42:08For Christmas
42:08Don't need to get a tree
42:09Cheapskate
42:10Nah
42:10Listen
42:11See
42:1260 minutes into
42:13Scotland versus Greece
42:15We all thought
42:16That our luck had run out
42:17You know
42:18At the midpoint of the season
42:19We all think my luck's run out
42:21No no no
42:21It's not the case
42:23That's not what
42:23That's not what we're saying
42:24In this scenario
42:25We are Scotland
42:26Oh
42:26Yeah it's not that you're
42:27Like lucky or unlucky
42:29You're just very bad
42:30At this game
42:31You are terrible actually
42:32And down the stretch as well
42:33That makes me Denmark
42:34Think just
42:35I hit and form at the wrong time
42:38I don't know
42:39Take, take, take, talk
42:40Talk, talk, talk
42:41You talk a lot
42:41One last night
42:43For all
42:43J.C
42:44Is it gonna be the same
42:46Dear friends I met
42:48Who used to sit here
42:49Every minute
42:50I was a girl
42:51I saw her
42:52From the 70s
42:53I had a search
42:54But I made me
42:55I saw it
42:56And another camera
42:57Just ignore
42:57I saw it
42:58I saw it
42:59Will you
42:59I saw it
43:00For all
43:01To be continued
