00:10For Battlefield Hardline
00:12we really set out to make
00:14a cop show you could play.
00:15Give it the boot Mendoza.
00:18Part of the thing that
00:19appealed to me about this game was like just going
00:21all in on this, this is a cop show,
00:24this is a TV show, these are our actors
00:25and we're gonna film it like a cop show,
00:28we're gonna write it like a cop show. The whole story was
00:29broken down into episodes
00:31just like a TV season would be
00:33and then each episode had a
00:36small cinematic and that would
00:38basically serve as a
00:40previously on for a TV show.
00:42Previously on Hardline
00:43That's Leo Ray, says he has information
00:45regarding the drug war that's plaguing
00:48Miami. One of the things I wanted to
00:50see is if humor could be a part of
00:51a Battlefield game again. One thing I really
00:54liked about the Bad Company games is they had a lighter tone.
00:56Over an hour. Maybe he got lost.
00:58There's a sign on the door that leads to the tank.
01:00How hard could it be? Hey guys, sorry,
01:02I got lost. There's an arc in each
01:04particular episode, but there is an
01:06overall arc and that's the structure that
01:08we followed exactly in this game
01:10as you would on any series television show.
01:12Just Nick. Marcus isn't welcome here.
01:14It's all about how the story
01:16is caught up. The way
01:18Colin Hennen, who's our cinematics wizard
01:20at Visceral, gets you in and out of the
01:22first person view, he made some super
01:24smart and really artful decisions
01:26throughout the game.
01:28With Hardline, we really try to do something different
01:30and I think we have a great creative team.
01:32We had great writers, we had great TV people
01:34on it. I looked at the call sheet and we had the
01:36table reads initially and it's a big cast
01:38and it's a fun cast.
01:39Apparently there's a drug war, sir.
01:41It's always amazing sharing stage with Benito
01:43and Kelly and Eugene and Nick.
01:45I think the ones where all of us were together
01:47were especially nice.
01:50The most fun thing we did
01:51on this shoot
01:53was before we shot and that
01:55was the tactical training.
01:57Your job is to keep looking this
01:59direction in case there's a threat
02:01from here. He's watching the front
02:03surveying everything.
02:10It's fun when you get to be the badass girl.
02:13Those are the only kind of characters I like to play.
02:16Badge! About!
02:17Does! Anything!
02:19You're getting to meet these characters,
02:21you're going to get a small amount of information
02:23about them but it's just the right amount
02:25that you know them, you can relate to them,
02:27you like them or you really don't like them.
02:29You have no idea who I am
02:31because if you did,
02:33you would not be stealing from me.
02:36And then you're able to jump right into
02:37the action of the game again.
02:39Hardline provides a very relatable story
02:41I think that's something that may be hard
02:43in some current military shooters
02:45is that the story is so convoluted
02:47because it goes into political
02:48and geopolitical dynamics.
02:50Here with Hardline story, it's all about characters
02:52so it's much easier to kind of get
02:54attached to them and to understand what's going on
02:56just very simply.
02:57What makes stories good are the characters.
03:00There are ten episodes in Battlefield Hardline
03:02and each one of them
03:04is a cop show you'll want to play.
