00:03Hello and welcome in this series of video presenting Umbra Gameplay Mechanics.
00:08I am Daniel Doloui, creator of the project.
00:12Today we will focus on two different features of the game, called Resource Opposition System
00:17and Elemental Effect Interaction.
00:19Umbra is an action RPG game without class restriction for your character building,
00:24meaning that you can use any weapon, armor or skill and play with them.
00:28If you want to do a wield axes and cast fireball, you are free to do so.
00:33Let's take a look at the interface.
00:35As you can see, there are four different resources in Umbra.
00:39The red globe represents your health, the yellow bar represents your rage,
00:44the green globe represents your stamina and the blue one represents your mana.
00:48Rage is gained by attacking enemies with melee weapons.
00:51This resource is only used for aggressive melee action.
00:54If you don't attack anyone for some time, your rage will automatically decrease.
01:00Stamina is used for sneak attacks, escape and traps.
01:04You gain a low amount of stamina every second plus a bonus if you haven't taken any damage for some
01:10time.
01:11Mana is used for magical and elemental spells.
01:15Mana based skills can be aggressive or defensive and trigger various effects such as buff, nerf or crowd control.
01:23Every skills are based on a single resource and each of their effects are very different.
01:30In order to balance the large amount of choice you have, Umbra introduced the resource opposition system.
01:37This is the way it works.
01:38When you perform a melee attack, your rage will increase.
01:42However, your stamina and mana will also be lowered and their regeneration rate will also be reduced.
01:48A similar process happens with all the other resources.
01:51That way, abusing from rage skill will reduce your mana and stamina and leave you defenseless in front of powerful
01:57enemies.
01:58This mechanics makes you responsible for your action in the game.
02:02It is up to you to find a way you want to play.
02:04But remember, there is always a price.
02:07The second system we are presenting to you today is called Elemental Effect Interaction.
02:12This system manages interaction between fire, water, lightning and ice.
02:17Fire skills usually burn and spread on the ground, dealing damage over time to enemies.
02:22If a fire skill is cast on water or ice, the effects may be reduced or even inactive.
02:28Frost skills can freeze enemies or slow them down.
02:31Frost is effective combined with melee attacks, triggering additional shatter damage.
02:37Lightning can spread in water, hitting all nearby enemies.
02:40It can also stun any enemy in a wet state.
02:43An enemy enters a wet state when it is under the rain or walking in a river.
02:48This system balances the gameplay and allows you to create helpful combos.
02:52If a frozen enemy is burned, he unfreeze and enters a wet state.
02:57You can then use a lightning strike and stun him.
02:59It also means that frost and fire are not very effective together alone.
03:04This mechanics can also be used with the level design.
03:08Lightning will be very effective in a flooded area.
03:11And frost will be more effective in a snowy mountain.
03:14As you can see, it's really up to you to imagine and create your own gameplay.
03:19We hope you enjoyed this video, presenting the very basics of Umbra gameplay.
03:23In the following videos, we will show you more of the exciting features we developed.
03:27Our Kickstarter campaign will start on May 13.
03:31So stay tuned and please spread the news with your friends.
03:34See you more than before we get through control.
03:34It's time to wake up to you and the comments!
03:34Not to any of the signs, memory of the grave.
