00:01It's the nation's favourite antiques experts
00:04Buying the wheel of a classic car
00:06This car dancing!
00:08And a goal to scar Britain for antiques
00:11The aim?
00:13To make the biggest profit at all
00:15But it's no mean feat
00:17There'll be worthy winners
00:20And valiant losers
00:21Will it be the high road to glory
00:24I feel like we're in a James Bond film
00:26Or the slow road to disaster
00:30This is Antiques Road Trip!
00:33Yeah!
00:36Greetings from the glorious lake
00:39A countryside trek
00:41Of pure tranquillity
00:44Careful!
00:46Gangster style
00:47Oh, God help us
00:49Indeed!
00:51It's round two with our latest pairing
00:53The ever dapper Danny Sebastian
00:54And the essence of elegance
00:56Margie Cooper
00:57It's like being on a bucking bronco
01:00Bouncing around in a 1991 Lincoln town car
01:04A bona fide low rider
01:06With hydraulics as lively as their banter
01:09Well, it's a head turner, isn't it?
01:10Especially with me and you suck, isn't it?
01:15On their debut rollout
01:17Danny got musical
01:19What a lovely ring
01:21And whimsical
01:22We want things quirky
01:24And that's quirky all day long
01:27While Margie went metallic
01:28That's got a chance
01:30I think I might have a crack at it
01:31140!
01:33But an auction experience trumped enthusiasm
01:35Oh, gosh!
01:38So, it's 1-0 to Margie
01:41In a best of five race
01:44You're not getting no more
01:45Alright, okay, right
01:46That's your lot, right?
01:48I hope we can still be friends
01:50That's the spirit
01:51Right then, a fresh £200 and the delights of Cumbria await
01:56Do you think we'll get to see, you know, the ponds?
01:59The ponds...
02:01The lakes!
02:02Yeah, well, the same thing, isn't it?
02:04That's a big hole with water
02:06He'll be calling mountains molehills next
02:09This expedition begins in Bonny, Scotland
02:12It's now winding its way through the Lake District
02:15Before a whirl across Yorkshire
02:17Drawing to a close in Derbyshire
02:20Onwards and upwards
02:22Only way to go
02:24On this trip, our merry pair
02:26Meander around north-west England
02:28Shopping all the way to Keswick
02:30But we begin with Margie in Kendal
02:33A historic market town
02:35Whose limestone buildings earned it the name
02:38Old Grey Town
02:40Its eponymous mint cake
02:42Was carried by Sir Ernest Shackleton himself
02:46On his great trans-Antarctic expedition
02:48Talking of great explorers
02:51It's Margie's heading to Sledore Hall
02:53Antique Centre
02:54Tucked inside a 16th century former manor house
02:57With just as much history as the antiques on its shelves
03:00All carefully curated by owner Andrew
03:02The only trouble is you need hours to look around
03:06And a sharp eye for treasures
03:08Oh, so much to see
03:10Oh dear
03:11It's part browsing, part detective work
03:15That's now like this
03:17Looking for things that are just going to sell at auction
03:19That's the secret
03:21Somebody who's doing up a house
03:23And wants to put a decent knocker letterbox on his house
03:28That's a hundred years old
03:31It's unbelievable quality
03:33Which is very difficult to get that quality in brassware today
03:36It's 75 pounds, which
03:39Is a bit top-heavy
03:41But, you never know
03:43I'm very optimistic
03:45Yeah, like that
03:46But I might see something better
03:47So I'll keep going
03:49See what else is knocking around, eh?
03:53Oh, look at that
03:55That's distinctive, isn't it?
03:58Vintage jewellery
03:59It's not something I tend to buy
04:00But it's so popular
04:02And as I'm trying to win a competition here
04:05I think this is the sort of stuff that can do well at auction
04:08One eye always on the end game, Margie
04:12Yeah, this is Urmani Bulatti
04:14Which sounds Italian, I think it's made up
04:17It's a Dutch company
04:18It started in the 80s
04:20Very, very popular
04:23All sorts of different art deco, Etruscan
04:25All sorts of different styles
04:27I just love an elephant
04:28Don't you love an elephant? I do
04:31Unforgettable
04:32Look how distinctive that is
04:34Someone's going to buy that, aren't they?
04:37No ticket price, but a trunk full of style
04:41Now, Kendall's a treasure trove of antique shops
04:44And just a hop, skip and a jump away
04:45Danny's heading to the Antiques Emporium
04:48What was he in for?
04:50Looking good
04:52An inordinate amount of antiques and collectibles
04:55All under one roof, courtesy of more than 45 traders
04:58This lot should keep our Danny busy
05:02Now, pottery is not really my...
05:05Ooh...
05:06Straight in!
05:08God!
05:09Now, look at that
05:12Ain't she a beauty
05:13Très jolie
05:14This is a 1950s bust
05:17Quite nice that it's got a signature on the back
05:20Not that I am familiar with it
05:24Plaster casts, especially busts
05:27trace their origins to ancient Egypt and Greece
05:30where they captured likenesses and served as artists' models
05:35Priced at 68 pounds
05:38These are getting more and more popular
05:41The whole vintage world has really taken off
05:43And this young lady is beautiful
05:47Reminds me just of our Margie
05:49Nice, that!
05:50Nobody puts Margie in a corner
05:52Right, keep looking
05:55Let's pop back to the lady in question
05:59And see if her rummaging has borne fruit
06:03Or not
06:06Isn't that beautiful?
06:08What a beautiful cup that is
06:09And I think that is the Minton Cup
06:13Beautifully hand-painted
06:15Look at that
06:15Probably nearly 200 years old
06:18Lost its saucer
06:19Part of a huge set
06:21And then you look
06:22The dreaded rivet
06:24Which does save the cup
06:26But it proves one thing
06:28That it's a highly treasured cup
06:30And somebody's thought it worthwhile
06:31Attempting to rivet it, which they have
06:33So that's Minton as well
06:35That is a different way of repairing
06:38Called Kintsugi
06:40The Japanese art of repairing pottery
06:42Leaving a golden seam where the cracks were
06:45And it's like a gilded epoxy resin
06:48Been done for centuries
06:50Look at that
06:51Put it all back together again
06:53Amazing
06:54King Zugi
06:57I would have given up on that, wouldn't you?
06:59I would have given up on that
07:01Turn a disaster into a decoration
07:05Right, I need to have a word with Andrew
07:08Because we need a chat
07:12Best buckle up
07:15Right, Andrew
07:16Have I had a lovely time in your beautiful shop
07:19Now then
07:20That's nice, isn't it?
07:22It's very elegant
07:23Yeah, so how much
07:25Could that be?
07:27£40
07:28Right, £40, right
07:30The other thing that I thought was a bit quirky and nice
07:33Was the knocker and combined letterbox
07:36Yes
07:37But it had a whacking price on it
07:39And where did you want to be on that?
07:43As little as possible
07:45What, as little as £30?
07:48That'd be fine, marvellous
07:49And then, it's a strange thing for me to buy for auction
07:53But I've seen this little Minton cup, beautifully decorated
07:57And then there's the plate that's got this King Zugi different repair
08:02Hmm
08:02So, fancying the cup, how much can that be?
08:06Erm, we'd do the cup for £10
08:10Right
08:10But we'd include the plate
08:12Oh, Andrew
08:14I never asked for that, did I?
08:16No
08:17That's very kind of you
08:19Margie's getting more than she bargained for with this generous deal
08:23£10 for the Minton cup and plate
08:2530 for the brass door set
08:27And 40 for the vintage choker
08:29That's £80 the lot
08:31Thank you so much, Andrew
08:32You're most welcome
08:33Many thanks
08:33Bye-bye, thank you so much
08:35Bye-bye, bye-bye
08:35Leaving her bundling out the door
08:37With £120 still in the coffers
08:41Let's see how Danny's getting on with his rummaging deeper in Kendall
08:46Just what I'm looking for for my hair
08:49Something like that
08:52Grooming, Danny style
08:54Back to business, if you please
09:00This is like a very early 20th century or Victorian bird alarm clock
09:07Seems to be a little bit faulty
09:08While I'm winding it up, the bell's already going
09:12It's a little bit tired, but it's £65
09:15So it's faulty
09:17That's triggered some alarm bells
09:20Off you fly, little bird
09:28Hey
09:29You're going to think I'm nuts now
09:31It's a nutcracker and shell
09:33Well made, heavy gauged
09:36Good definition
09:37Silver plated
09:39Novelty item
09:40I always find that items that are novelty type
09:44Sell well at auction
09:46Just sit your little nut in there
09:49Shut the lid
09:51Wallop
09:52Now I like this
09:54Ticket price
09:55Ooh
09:58£185 original price down to £110
10:02I'll be honest, I like it
10:03But I don't quite know if I like it enough at £110
10:08It'd be cracking at Christmas, wouldn't it?
10:11How do you like that?
10:13Sorry
10:13He's here all week, folks
10:16It will all come down to negotiations
10:19Let's hope dealer Ollie is up for it
10:22There's the man
10:23What have you found?
10:24I've found like a little bust
10:26It's priced at £60, about £68
10:31But I did notice
10:33That there's a sign saying
10:34Anything over £20 is a 20% discount
10:39That's right, yeah
10:40About £55
10:42I mean
10:43I'm going to be cheeky
10:46Occupational habit
10:47Could you do any better?
10:48I could probably round down
10:49Should we go £50?
10:51I mean, could you do £45?
10:52£47?
10:54Yeah
10:54I'm happy with that
10:55And there's the nutcracker
10:57Nutcracker, yep
10:58Another one
10:59Now that's priced at £110
11:01I think we could probably
11:03Very lowest
11:04We'd probably do £75
11:06And what's the two of them come to?
11:09£122
11:11£122
11:11Do you want me to round down to £120?
11:13We'll like
11:14Go on, I love that
11:16£120
11:17Cracking discount
11:18£45 for the bust
11:20And £75 for the nutcracker
11:22And with £80 still to splurge
11:26And if I make a loss
11:28Do I come back and see you?
11:29I might not be here though
11:32Caveat emptor Danny
11:34Right
11:35Come on Margie
11:36We're off to auction
11:38Not just yet
11:40First, back to your pal
11:42To compare notes
11:43Well Margie, how's your day been?
11:45Quite good, I went to a cracking shop
11:47Ah, bought something that you might be interested in
11:50I bought a vintage choker
11:52By a man called Armani Bulatti
11:55Oh, it sounds revolting
11:59Cheeky
11:59I bought this lovely chalk bust
12:01Pretty lady
12:02Yes indeed
12:03And what really threw it for me was
12:06She reminded me of you
12:08She did, I thought
12:10What a melter
12:11Honestly
12:13Quit while you're ahead
12:15Get it?
12:16We cross into North Yorkshire now
12:19To the village of Ingleton
12:20On the fringes of the majestic Dales
12:24Once known for its collieries and mills
12:27It's said that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
12:30Had close ties to the area
12:32Our two antiques detectives
12:34Are here to investigate
12:35Lord's antiques and salvage
12:37There goes Holmes
12:39Followed by Watson
12:41Wow
12:41The game's afoot
12:44The way you look there's something
12:46Margie has £120 in her pocket
12:49And is on the scent
12:50Like a bloodhound
12:51Danny, with a more modest £80
12:55Is making a clean sweep of the scene
12:57Now I've just picked up a few items
13:00They're all of the same ilk
13:02They're all sort of Chinese
13:04What we have is a nice little
13:07Bronze bowl
13:09Not overly old
13:11It's got some Chinese writing in the bowl
13:14And there's also
13:16A little soapstone seal I suppose
13:19I suppose back in the day
13:21It'd be dipped into wax
13:22And then on a letter
13:24Wallop
13:25And it would form a seal
13:27It's in lovely condition
13:28On the top it's got a little
13:30Foo dog
13:31Quite a traditional Chinese animal
13:33Used to guard against bad omens
13:36Very nice
13:38And then thirdly I've got this little
13:40Snuff bottle
13:42Great how they paint these from the inside
13:44With a curved paint brush I mean
13:46Such craftsmanship goes into these little things
13:49They're very collectible
13:51The cogs are beginning to turn
13:53I'm just trying to wonder
13:55Whether we could put these three pieces together
13:57The little seal
13:588 pound bronze bowl
14:0022 pound
14:02And of course the little snuff bottle
14:048 pound
14:0438 pound in all
14:07Food for thought
14:08Let's put it back and keep on having a look
14:12Where next?
14:14The shop floor's your oyster
14:15Now where's your partner in crime?
14:19Oh
14:20Now that's caught my eye
14:22A leather saddle
14:2330 pounds
14:2430 pounds
14:25I used to ride
14:27And have a ponick
14:29What quality saddle that is
14:32I'm a bit tempted with that
14:34I'm going to put that on my list of maybes
14:37Yeah?
14:38Caught my eye
14:41Saddle up partner
14:43Speaking of partners
14:45Hey Marge, what do you think of vintage fashion?
14:48I never mind vintage
14:49You used to be a model
14:50Is that vintage?
14:51Oh yes
14:52Is it?
14:52Yeah it is, yeah
14:53Oh look here Marge
14:55And you love jewelry don't you?
14:58I do a bit
14:58Anyway that's enough, you've seen enough now
15:02Let's keep going
15:04Helping or hindering?
15:05Difficult to tell
15:08Keep bumping into Danny
15:09Just get on with your own business Margie
15:11Sage advice
15:13But then
15:14He is rather hard to miss
15:16Now then
15:17That's interesting
15:18What do you think of that bad boy?
15:20I quite like this
15:21This is a cut glass sugar sifter
15:24To put icing on cake
15:26It's silver topped as well
15:27And that's got lovely decoration
15:29All cut glass
15:30So it's been cut by hand
15:32The real nice thing about this is
15:34There's not a dent or a dent
15:36On the silver
15:38Very early 20th century
15:40It's got a silver collar on that as well
15:42Priced at £30
15:45Everyone's going to want this in their kitchen
15:47I can see this flying at the auction
15:50You'll be looking for a sweet deal then
15:52Better find owner Bretter
15:54Right, there's the man himself
15:58I've got a sugar sifter
16:00Silver topped
16:01Priced up at
16:04£30
16:05Alright, okay
16:06Quite nice
16:06I mean is that the best you can do on that?
16:09Erm
16:10I'll do 20 on it
16:11Do you know what?
16:12I'll have that straight away
16:13I'm not going to mess about with that
16:14Now then I've got a bit of a complicated one
16:17It's three little oriental pieces
16:19The whole lot comes to £38
16:23So we'll say £34
16:25I'll take that as well
16:2620 for the sugar sifter
16:28And 34 for the trio of collectables
16:3150 for the lot
16:32Thank you!
16:33That's Danny down to his final £26
16:36Mwah!
16:38Margie, you're in bother with this piece at the auction
16:41Hear that Margie?
16:43Not quite sugar and sweet now, is he?
16:46This is an unusual table, isn't it?
16:49Isn't it lovely to see unusual?
16:52Very stylish
16:53Carved stone Persian table
16:56£125
16:56All this beautiful intricate carving
17:00Because Persia was very well known for
17:02It's wonderful works of art over the centuries
17:05And of course now it's Iran, isn't it?
17:08So this lovely pedestal
17:10That really is lovely
17:11And the circular base
17:14All beautifully carved in stone
17:16First quarter of last century, I would think
17:18Isn't that attractive?
17:21But let's see what price I can get that for
17:24And then I'll make my mind up
17:27That's the plan
17:28A price plan
17:30Go get him Margie
17:34Ah, Breton
17:35Now, I've seen a table
17:38It's £125 which makes it impossible
17:41What do you want to be given for it?
17:45£70
17:47I'll do 80 on it
17:4880?
17:49Thank you very much
17:51£80 for the Persian table
17:53A very decent discount
17:55But still puts a dent in Margie's budget
17:57Leaving her with just £40 to her name
17:59You've been really helpful
18:00No, that's great
18:01Thank you
18:01How did you get on?
18:04It's a bit heavy
18:06Is it a bit heavy?
18:07No, no, no
18:07I'll tell you what you do Margie, put it down
18:10Now, guard these with your life
18:14I will, thank you
18:15What a gentleman, what a gent
18:18Isn't he just
18:19The thought to tip his hat and open your door
18:22Back on the road, Margie's still adjusting to the left-hand drive
18:27I feel a bit odd in the passenger seat, I must say
18:30I feel as though you're veering over to the middle
18:32I mean, are we on the wrong side of the road?
18:34No, you're on the right side, you're on the left hand side
18:37No, I'm on the left side of the road, I'm not on the right
18:38You said to me, Margie, that we're on the right side
18:42We're on left
18:42You're giving me a headache
18:43Oh, I feel your pain
18:46Nighty-night, you two
18:54Next morning, it's payback time
18:57Shall we get across a bit, Margie?
18:59No, shh, be quiet
19:01Still getting on like a house on fire
19:04Oh my God, now watch the door on this side
19:06Oh, shut up
19:10Yesterday, between squabbles, Margie went on a shopping spree
19:13Picking up a brass door knocker, some mint and porcelain, a Persian stone table and a vintage necklace
19:20I just love an elephant
19:21Leaving her with just 40 of her £200 budget
19:25Danny also went on a buying bonanza, opting for a nutcracker, a silver top sugar sifter, a trio of trinkets
19:33and a small bust
19:34Ain't she a beauty?
19:35This put a mighty dent in his kitty, leaving him with just £26 for today's shopping shenanigans
19:44I'm over the moon with my purchases
19:45Are you really?
19:46Oh, I think I did exceedingly well
19:48I do
19:49I do love people with confidence
19:51I'm sensing a punchline
19:53How do you cope with disappointment?
19:56It very rarely comes about
19:59Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
20:01Joshing and shopping will resume momentarily
20:04But first, Danny's being dropped off at the village of Cartmel
20:07Tucked away on its namesake peninsula
20:10This medieval village grew up around its 12th century priory, founded by William Marshall, a soldier, statesman and loyal servant
20:19to five English kings who was hailed by many as the greatest knight
20:24Nowadays, it's become something of a foodie destination, boasting two Michelin-starred restaurants
20:30This is nice
20:31But our man Danny is here with just one thing on his mind
20:34Sweet treats
20:36Because, here at the village shop, they've put a quintessential British classic firmly on the map
20:42Sticky Toffee Pudding
20:43Simon Johns is one owner of the family-run business
20:48Hello!
20:49Simon?
20:49Yes it is!
20:50Danny!
20:51Nice to meet you!
20:52What a pleasure!
20:53Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding
20:54I mean, is it quite special to this area?
20:57Bit of a phenomenon, yes
20:59We've been here now in the 36th year, we started in 1989 when my mum and dad took over this
21:04little village shop and sub post office
21:07So they'd started making Sticky Toffee Pudding in a restaurant prior to this
21:11It was a time when people were going further afield to do their weekly shop
21:15So they started making ready meals, meals they'd made in the restaurant prior
21:19And the one that really took off was Sticky Toffee Pudding
21:21The origins of the pudding are a bit of a culinary mystery with several claims to its creation
21:28One such belief was as an antidote to post-war rationing, when comfort was craved
21:35Others trace its beginnings to Scotland, or even just across the pond to Canada
21:40Cartmel's version, however, helped propel it to national fame
21:44We never said we invented it, but they were the first ones to make it in a takeaway package
21:49A cold sponge, a cold sauce, heats up at home
21:52So the first people to retail a Sticky Toffee Pudding
21:5636 years later, it's everywhere
21:58Can I get to taste one?
22:00Absolutely
22:01The pudding has since become synonymous with the village
22:05And a culinary staple of the region
22:10So this is it, this is the original
22:12Original famous Sticky Toffee Pudding
22:14A little ice cream
22:15Mmm
22:17Come on, come on
22:18How bad is it?
22:21That's amazing
22:24We'll take that as a seal of approval
22:27That's divine
22:28Good
22:29No resting on his taste buds
22:31Time for Danny to learn how it's done
22:35As demand grew, the little village shop could no longer cope
22:38And production was moved to a nearby facility
22:41Danny's in the safe hands of baker Ian
22:44Who's been whipping up this sticky sensation for over 20 years
22:48How are you doing, you alright?
22:49Yeah, not so bad at all
22:50Nice hairnet
22:51So you're here to help, are you?
22:52I'm here to help today
22:53Right then, let's put you to work
22:54So, if you'd like to get the butter and the sugar, yeah
22:57And we'll sip it into this mixer here
22:59Chuck it all in
23:02That's it
23:02We'll shut the guard up
23:05It's like a big whisk
23:06If you get the egg
23:07Just tip it down this gap here
23:09Nice and slowly
23:12What's changed about the recipe?
23:14Nothing
23:16The recipe's the same now as what it's always been
23:18If you get the flour now
23:20The only difference now is the scale
23:22With the bakery turning out about 8,000 puddings every day
23:27That should keep Danny out of mischief
23:31I'll go and have a cup of tea and leave you to it
23:33Hey, two sugars, me and milk, please
23:35Just one sugar for me, please
23:39Just push her in gently
23:41And into the oven they go
23:43Steady on, that looks man-sized
23:45Open the oven!
23:47That's it
23:48Once the oven's worked its magic
23:50There's just one final flourish
23:52Put your foot on the pedal
23:53The crowning glory of any self-respecting sticky toffee
23:57The sauce
23:58Yeah, that's a good one
24:00Natural
24:00You've done a good job
24:02I'm quite proud of myself
24:03You should be, you've got the job
24:06Well, you do suit a hairnet Danny, that's for sure
24:09Hey, don't forget to bag a pud for Margie
24:12The humble pudding's rise to fame is a testament to its irresistible charm
24:16And a sweet source of pride for the Laker Street
24:26Now then, back to business
24:28Margie's picked Danny up and they're off again
24:31All set to go
24:32I didn't forget you Margie, don't you worry
24:35And guess what?
24:37Don't tell me
24:38A wee gift for you
24:39Aww
24:40Is that for me?
24:42That's for you
24:42And I've got the biggest one that they could find
24:45Oh, how kind of you
24:47Sweet treats sorted
24:49Back to sweet deals if you please
24:52Their journey winds north through Cumbria
24:54And into the Eden Valley
24:56Landing in Penrith
24:58A former Cumbrian capital
25:00And one-time stomping ground of a young William Wordsworth
25:04Searching for inspiration of a different kind
25:07Ooh
25:07Danny has one last shopping spree at Eclectic
25:12Although, with just £26 to his name, it's less of a spree
25:16Hmm
25:16And more of a scavenge
25:20Perhaps a conflab with owner Peter would help unlock treasures
25:25Hmm
25:27Peter! What a lovely shop you've got here
25:29Thank you
25:30What's that little
25:33Cheroot there?
25:35So that is
25:35Amber and
25:37Is it gold?
25:38Little gold colour on it, yeah
25:40Oh, I put that on to
25:41There for you
25:44Hmm
25:47H&H
25:48It's got on it 18 carat
25:50I think that's a rolled gold
25:51I think it's just sort of layered over the top
25:54Of a base metal
25:55But it's in lovely condition
25:57Imagine back in the days, you know
25:59These were used by very exquisite ladies
26:02Holding a cigarette and
26:061920s?
26:071920s
26:08You know all the flappers?
26:10Maybe there's something like that
26:11Exactly, yeah
26:13Ah, the flappers
26:15Spirited women of the roaring 20s
26:17Who bobbed their hair, danced to jazz
26:19And left the stiff collars of the Edwardian era behind them
26:24It's nice with its case as well, isn't it?
26:26It is, yeah
26:27£35
26:28You've not quite got that
26:29What would it make at auction?
26:33Hmm
26:34I'll have a think
26:35Thank you very much
26:37Don't put it too far
26:39I'll leave it there for you
26:40That'll do
26:41Just there
26:44Let's leave Danny to it and catch up with Margie
26:48Happily motoring solo and kicking up some dust
26:53This is a like
26:54Very nice afternoon out with this beautiful car
26:59Oh, bliss
27:00It's bliss
27:02It's quiet, it feels
27:05Missing your sidekick?
27:07Yeah, he's very entertaining
27:11It's always something to talk about
27:14I'd enjoy the peace while it lasts
27:18Margie's final shopping destination is Keswick
27:22The Lake District's most northerly town
27:24Home to the musical stones of Skiddor
27:27An unusual lithophone that lets the hills sing
27:31Margie's tuning in to Willow House Antiques
27:35Armed with her remaining £40
27:38There's plenty here to keep her on her toes
27:43A bit tiring this antique job
27:46Have a little break
27:48Oh, that's nice
27:50Nothing like an antique chair
27:52A quick perch, then back to browsing
27:57Gosh, look at him
27:59He's a fine specimen
28:01Seen a few of those in the fields on the way up here to Keswick
28:06Sylvac
28:08Tend to connect Sylvac with all those sweet little rabbits
28:121930s sort of stuff, mass-produced
28:15The Sylvac company started in, I think, 1894, I think it was
28:21Very popular, but not that collectible
28:23Loads and loads of it
28:26Ticket price, £120
28:29I've never seen one before
28:31So big
28:33I haven't got enough money anyhow
28:35So I don't really know why I'm looking at him
28:38Charging on them
28:40Let's pop back to Penrith and Danny's Delvings
28:46Now, I've seen something outside that I quite like
28:49And it's this little hall chair
28:52Mahogany
28:53Obviously, the legs have been turned
28:55Looking underneath, you can see that
28:57There's no screw
28:59It's all block-built
29:01To secure the seat to the base
29:04There is
29:06A split in the seat
29:09But I don't think that really matters, to be honest
29:12It's just going to be more for decoration than actually seating
29:16It's got a good age
29:17It's priced at £45
29:20As you know, I've only got £26 left, so
29:25Not 100% sure
29:26Might have to sit this one out, eh?
29:29Back to Plan A and Apollo with Peter
29:32Now then, Peter
29:34Hello, Danny
29:35Have you still got that cheroot?
29:37I have, yes
29:37I see this about
29:40£20 to £40 at auction
29:43And you've got it priced up at £35
29:48£25
29:49Can you do any better?
29:52£25
29:54Can you do a score?
29:55No
29:56Nice try, Danny
29:58£23
29:59I'll shake your hand at that
30:00I'll take that at £23
30:01Thank you very much
30:02A smoke-in discount
30:04And just within Danny's budget
30:06Leaving him with £3 unspent
30:08Very pleased with that, thank you
30:11Final buy in the bag for Danny
30:13Yes!
30:16That just leaves Margie with her musings in Keswick
30:20Crested ware
30:21Tea time?
30:22Or perhaps a tipple
30:26Right, now let's have a look in here
30:29And this looks like a piece of Murano
30:31Ah, it says, yes, put it on
30:33This is a piece of Murano glass
30:36And Murano glass is world-famous
30:39for its quality, its wonderful colours
30:42There's always a market because it's a bit of a magical name in glass
30:46glassware, Murano
30:48In the 13th century, glass making in Venice
30:51moved exclusively to the island of Murano
30:54Not only to protect the city from the risk of furnace fires
30:58but to guard precious trade secrets from prying eyes
31:03This is quite interesting, looks a bit like Donald Duck, doesn't it?
31:07Looks more like Daffy to me
31:09Lovely colours, sort of like rust and red
31:13£35, so if I can just get a little bit off that
31:16I think I've got a chance, don't you?
31:19Look at that, how pretty isn't it?
31:22Time to get your ducks in a row
31:24and hear what dealer Simon says
31:27So Simon, I've left the best item to last
31:30and the best shop to last
31:32Thank you very much
31:33In an effort to get on the good side of you
31:36Schmoozing done, Moola next
31:39£35, so what can we do?
31:41£25?
31:42£25?
31:43That's very nice, aren't you?
31:44£25?
31:45£25?
31:45£25?
31:46Not £20?
31:48Go on then
31:51Thank you very much indeed, Simon
31:53Watch and learn, eh?
31:54A mighty markdown to £20
31:56and shake your hand
31:58Thank you
31:58Thank you so much
32:00And that leaves Margie with £20 unspent
32:02Off you bounce, back to your dancing car
32:06and chatty chum
32:08So we're all set to go
32:09We're all set to go
32:10I may the best man win
32:12Are you up for it?
32:13Oh, Margie
32:16With the cream I've got
32:18Stop laughing!
32:20What are you laughing at?
32:21I'm going to be honest, Margie
32:22You're making me laugh too much
32:24I'm having too much fun
32:26You're putting me off
32:27Putting you off your game
32:29I've just sussed it
32:31Let's see who has the last laugh in the sale room, eh?
32:35But first, shut eye
32:43Look lively
32:44It's auction day
32:45Round two in our best of five bonanza
32:49Feeling lucky?

33:08Seats are filling up with bidders in the room online and on the blower
33:12Anything catching your eye, pooch?
33:15Today's Master of Ceremonies, it's auctioneer Ben Homer
33:17Going twice, gavels up
33:20Danny forked out £197 on five auction lots
33:25Choice pick, Ben?
33:27So the white metal nutcracker, it's a lovely thing
33:29It's very collectible, very quirky
33:31and something you can still use every day
33:35Margie also has five lots which cost £180
33:40Pick of the bunch?
33:41The brass letterbox and door knocker, art deco
33:44Very popular, door furniture like this of that sort of

33:52And here's our ever cheerful chums
33:55Take your seats and let's get started
33:58It's a busy salary

34:35I thought it would have made a little bit more than that
34:37Still, the sweet taste of profit
34:40I'd have thought it would have made about £35, £40
34:43It's profit though!
34:44You never know!
34:45Onto Margie's first lot
34:46The vintage choker with elephantine charm

36:13It's quite a nice piece
36:14Yeah, I know
36:15Quite decorative
36:15I think you're a bit drawn by the fact that she was
36:19Half dressed

39:00I think it was, yeah
