01:03What we want to create is an engaged
01:05audience that wants to keep coming back and that
01:07your friends, your social network
01:09is part of what's pulling you back into the world.
01:11We have a wonderfully connected community
01:13and that's something that makes Destiny
01:15just kinda magical, honestly.

01:50We want to create these community lightning rods
01:53of things that people are doing together.
01:55If players are responding really well to them,
01:57that's what we want to build more of.
02:08World events for the live game is a way for us
02:12to introduce new concepts to the players.
02:15Sparrow Racing has been on a lot of people's minds
02:18for a long time.
02:19Sparrow Racing is like our first experiment
02:21with how do we build something
02:22that the community can actually have a hand in
02:26its future fate.
02:31Being able to spin up Sparrow Racing
02:33I think is a really great example of an idea
02:35that pops up and foments from the community.
02:38we're able to take it and deliver it.
02:45If people love it, awesome,
02:47we can continue building on it
02:48and making it better.
02:49If people don't like it,
02:50we can get feedback on it
02:51and bring it back
02:52or just decide to scrap it
02:53and put our time, energy, and our people
02:55on something else.
03:00Sparrow Racing is a three-week event
03:03that is hosted by Amanda Holliday
03:04and it's available to all players of The Taken King.
03:07The speed will kill,
03:09but it's a good way to go.
03:37the festival of The Lost.
03:38You can do whatever you want.
03:41Sparrow Racing is a six-player
03:43free-for-all death race
03:44through enemy territory.
03:53We have two race courses,
03:55one on Venus
03:57and one on Mars.
04:03Campus Martius is a circuit
04:06through the buried city on Mars.
04:10The Mars is our easy track
04:12and the Venus one is our more advanced track.
04:17Venus is called the Infinite Descent
04:18because you're always going downhill
04:20and at the end you hit a teleporter
04:22and it brings you back to the top of the level.
04:31In Venus, there's a ton of shortcuts.
04:33You can shortcut through a waterfall,
04:36jump over an entire turn
04:37and then land right on a boost gate
04:39and take off.
04:41Nobody's really going to have
04:42a better Sparrow than anybody else.
04:43It's really about your performance on the track.
04:48The main skill that you will need
04:50is based off of you and how you drive.
04:54Boosting at the right time.
04:56Braking at the right time.
05:00Map knowledge is important.
05:02Knowing the race course is important.
05:03The more gates you miss,
05:05the slower you'll go.
05:06The more gates you hit,
05:07the faster you'll go.
05:10The main things you can do
05:11to upset your opponents
05:12is you push them out of the gate,
05:14you push them into fans,
05:16cause them to explode.
05:19Whatever you can do
05:20to make sure
05:21that you are the only one
05:22hitting the gate
05:22so that you get the boost
05:24and you end up taking the lane.

05:30something you haven't seen before.
