England boss Thomas Tuchel has not spoken to Trent Alexander-Arnold after dealing his World Cup hopes a blow by leaving the defender out of a bumper 35-man squad for friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.Alexander-Arnold was a glaring omission in a group which contains a host of recalled names such as Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the final two games before Tuchel selects his squad for this summer’s tournament in North America.

00:00Trent Alexander-Arnold, he's played just once under you and with him not being in this larger squad,
00:05would it be fair to say that it's very unlikely for him to go to the World Cup?
00:11No, I know that it's a tough decision for Trent, as it is for Oli Watkins at the moment and
00:18for Luke Shaw.
00:20These tough decisions come with a job.
00:23It is a sportive decision that we stick with Jarrell Kwanzaa, with Tino Livramento and with Chad Spence,
00:34who all can play for us in camp on the right full-back position.
00:40I know it's a tough one, I know it's a big name, I think it's a huge talent and a
00:47big career,
00:47but I feel that I know what Trent can give us and decided still to stick to the players who
00:55were in camp with us.
00:56Let's go.
00:56So let's go.
