00:00The re-emergence, if you like, of the long balls and the time taken on corners
00:05and the massive impact the team at the top is having on set plays
00:11and then it's filtering down to others is something that's becoming a narrative
00:15because it's so obviously there.
00:18We've never seen so many teams take long throw-ins.
00:20We've never seen so many teams copy one other team in terms of the way they do corners and things.
00:25This is quite new.
00:26I don't mean teams being good at set plays.
00:28I mean, other teams starting to follow suit and copy what they're doing.
00:32So I think that set the narrative and set the tone because the team at the top is at the
00:37top
00:37mainly by doing a lot of those things we just said, good, well, you know,
00:41whether it be clever dark arts at the end of games, whether it be set plays,
00:45whether it be slowing things down, all those things.
00:49So it's just become something we've talked about.
00:52And also as well, I think there is an element of truth in the technical side,
00:58and level of football in some games has become a bit less.
01:01It's been more reliant on physicality and distance covered and turnovers.
01:06And also as well, I think because a lot of teams feel that they can't compete
01:10in a football technical match, we do see a lot of low blocks.
01:15We see a lot of teams making the game scrappy and making it elongated
01:18or trying to drag it out or set plays out and the ball out of plays up, all those things.
01:25I think there's an element of truth in it.
01:26I don't think the narrative comes from a cynical place of people trying to just upset people.
01:32Our eyes don't generally lie.
01:34And a lot of fans are going to football at the moment and leaving the games uninspired
01:39and not particularly happy with what they're seeing.
01:42And I think as somebody who watches a lot of games like myself,
01:46there's still been some great games, don't get me wrong.
01:49And there's still some really good players there.
01:51It's not a generational thing or it's just sometimes this happens in football.
01:57But I do think too many games are too cautious, too tactical, too overthought.
02:05The freedom and expression of players has dropped a little bit.
02:08It comes from pressure, you know, pressure for results.
02:11Yeah, yeah.
02:12All the managers are under such pressure to get results, whatever club you're at,
02:16whether you're trying to win the league, getting the Champions League, fighting relegation.
02:19So, yeah, I suppose the biggest question is most seasons you could say,
02:24how many teams do you really enjoy watching?
02:27And probably this season, there's not as many as there has been in others.
