00:00Following the 6.0 magnitude earthquake recorded on March 17, 37 kilometers southeast of Cuba,
00:05experts reported that the cause of the quake was purely tectonic and is linked to the activity along the Eastern
00:10Fault.
00:11This fault, approximately 1,000 kilometers long, that stretches from the Cayman Islands to northern Haiti,
00:17experienced the activation of one of its segments.
00:19Experts noted that since the major earthquake of February 3, 1932, with a 6.75 magnitude power,
00:25the energy accumulated in the section between Santiago de Cuba and GuantÃĄnamo has not been fully released,
00:33which keeps the seismic danger in the region latent.
00:35Furthermore, experts warned of the possibility of aftershocks and recommended that the public remain alert
00:41and avoid vulnerable structures while seismic activity continues to be monitored.
