00:33Thus, the story of Resident Evil begins.

00:42Raccoon City Police Department's Starz Alpha Team
00:45loses contact with Bravo Team,
00:47who were sent to investigate the Arklay Mountains incidents
00:50and set out to find them.
00:52Following a zombie dog attack,
00:54they're chased into a mansion,
00:56the iconic setting for Resident Evil.
01:00Trapped in the mansion are team leader Albert Wesker
01:03and team members Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.
01:06Chris and Jill are Resident Evil's protagonists.
01:09Now, as you may already know,
01:10this mansion is full of zombies.
01:12The iconic backwards-glance zombie.
01:14Zombies hiding in closets.
01:15Zombies that suddenly spring into action.
01:17Yep, it's zombies, zombies, zombies.
01:19But that's not all.
01:20There's also a whole host of biological weapons,
01:23POWs, blocking our protagonist's paths.
01:26As you might have guessed,
01:27this is an ordinary mansion.
01:28In fact, it's an umbrella laboratory
01:30for creating biological weapons.
01:34Umbrella.
01:35A run-of-the-mill giant pharmaceutical corporation by day,
01:38biological weapons dealer by night.
01:41Chris and the other Alpha Team members
01:43find out about the T-Virus,
01:44a terrifying virus that turns infected humans into zombies.
01:49After escaping the mansion,
01:50our heroes discover that team leader Wesker
01:52is actually the diabolical mastermind behind everything.
01:56In fact, he's an umbrella agent.
02:00Except he's also trying to cut his ties with Umbrella
02:02and join another organization.
02:04He lured Alpha Team here to acquire BOW combat data,
02:07which he planned to give as a gift to this other organization.
02:11Just like in the real world,
02:12sometimes people in the world of RE
02:14need to go to Extreme Links to get a new job, too.
02:16Anyway, after overcoming various challenges,
02:19our heroes escape the mansion
02:20with the other members who survived.
02:22After they escape,
02:23the mansion is engulfed in a huge explosion,
02:25which is something of a serious staple.
02:27Next up is Resident Evil 2,
02:29which we'll cover right after we've gone one day back in time.
02:35July 23rd, 1998.
02:38Bravo Team, the team sent out before Alpha Team,
02:41were involved in an unfortunate helicopter crash.
02:44Incidentally, people say RE helicopters are always crashing,
02:46but there are lots of helicopters that don't crash, too.
02:50But yeah, this one crashed.
02:53Anyway, since somebody was injured in the crash,
02:55the team proceeded with their investigation into the area.
02:58One of the team members,
02:59Wonder Child Rebecca Chambers,
03:01one of RE0's protagonists,
03:02boards a stopped train.
03:04On the train,
03:05she meets the game's other protagonist,
03:06Billy Cohen,
03:07a convict who's been sentenced to death.
03:10Unfortunately, the train that the two of them are riding
03:12runs out of control
03:13and crashes into the Umbrella training facility.
03:16There, they find out about Dr. James Marcus,
03:18the creator of the T-Virus.
03:20Dr. Marcus was one of Umbrella's founding members.
03:24But he was assassinated by two of his underlings,
03:27Albert Wesker and William Birkin.
03:30After overcoming various obstacles,
03:32Rebecca and Billy escape the facility.
03:33And the story leads into Resident Evil.
03:43September, 1998.
03:45Two months have passed since Resident Evil's mansion incident,
03:48and Raccoon City has been transformed
03:50into a town of wandering zombies.
03:52Rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy
03:54and Chris's little sister, Claire Redfield,
03:56appear on the scene.
03:58These two are Resident Evil 2's protagonists.
04:00Both Leon and Claire meet characters
04:02who've changed their lives forever.
04:04Leon meets Ada Wong,
04:06a spy who's trying to get her hands on the G-Virus,
04:08a new virus developed by William Birkin.
04:10And Claire meets a little girl called Sherry Birkin,
04:12who, because she's carrying a G-Virus sample
04:14from her father, William,
04:16is being chased by everyone.
04:18After overcoming all sorts of problems,
04:21Leon, Claire, and Sherry meet up,
04:23defeat Birkin, who injected the G-Virus,
04:25and escape the laboratory.
04:27Which, naturally, blows up.
04:33Next up is Resident Evil 3.
04:36But, unfortunately, we've run out of time.

04:40that we'll have to cover the rest of the story in Part 2.
