00:02Newcastle United's Champions League adventure came to a bruising end at Barcelona
00:06but as attention shifts towards the domestic season with purpose and pride
00:11a heavy 7-2 defeat on the 19 and 8-3 loss on aggregate exposed defensive frailties
00:17and ended hopes of a memorable European run despite moments of promise
00:21including a first half double from Anthony Alanga
00:25Starting with the first goal where two players slip
00:27then we concede a set play
00:31then probably the big moments, the penalty
00:33so as well as we played in the first half and I thought we were outstanding in many aspects
00:38it was really a great representation of how we want to play
00:41we had too many individual errors within the performance to carry that great performance through
00:47because really if we had performed anywhere near or defended anywhere near the level we can
00:51I think we would have been leading at half time not trailing
00:54I didn't see a need to necessarily change how we were playing at half time
00:59I thought we were really, really strong
01:01but then of course we conceded another set play
01:03so the first four goals we're looking at it going
01:06in terms of how we play it's a strange sort of execution of the goals against us
01:14I don't think psychologically you can say that we recovered from the moment at half time
01:18that's what it looked like to me
01:19because second half we certainly didn't have the same energy
01:21and then when the game was effectively over
01:24we didn't react well to that moment either
01:27so it became a very, very difficult second half
01:30Freddie Howell, the challenge now is much mental as tactical
01:34the manager was quick to demand an immediate response
01:36urging his players to move on quickly
01:39and refocus on what lies ahead
01:41with the schedule offering little time for reflection
01:44the emphasis has turned to resilience and recovery
01:48ensuring that a painful exit does not define the remainder of their campaign
01:54I'm able to move quite quickly through things and the game
02:00and the review process to then think of the future very quickly
02:04now it's all about Sunderland
02:05it's not about what's happened today
02:06it's about learning from today and evolving and changing
02:09if we need to
02:10but it's about the next game
02:12and making sure we're mentally ready, physically ready
02:14for what's going to be a huge game for us
02:16and for the whole city
02:17so I think that's quite a good game for us
02:21to go straight into
02:22because there's no time for any other thought than that one
02:26Newcastle remain in a competitive position domestically
02:29with ambitions of securing a strong finish
02:31and pushing towards the upper end of the table
02:33central to that renewed focus
02:35at the time where Derby against Sunderland
02:37few fixtures carry greater emotional weight
02:40and how has underlined its significance
02:42to the club, the players and the city
02:45in many ways
02:46Newcastle's campaign now hinges on how they react
02:49a strong finish beginning with a victory
02:51in one of English football's fiercest rivalries
02:54would go a long way toward reframing the narrative
02:58that is possible
02:58and how this may be a big stip
02:58such a 혼 fidgetous
02:58and how a native
02:59hugging but how the family
02:59we had to要
03:00and how and how
