00:00Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has admitted
00:05that the Magpies must improve against Benfica
00:08in the Champions League at St James' Park
00:11as they look to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat
00:14on the south coast against Brighton and Hove Albion
00:17in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
00:22Yeah, I think I said similar after the Arsenal game.
00:25We feel like we need another game.
00:28We're delighted to play quickly
00:30and try and build momentum back in our performance.
00:33I felt reflecting on the Brighton game was mixed.
00:36So a lot of good in the game.
00:38Ultimately, it doesn't matter.
00:39We lost the game and we know we need to improve.
00:43We love these games.
00:44I mean, the Barcelona game here was so close for us.
00:48It could have been a very, very different outcome.
00:49And it feels that we've been in that position a lot this season
00:51where the results could have gone either way.
00:54We've been very competitive.
00:55We were competitive that night.
00:57It has a similar type feel under lights here.
01:00The atmosphere will be electric, I've got no doubt.
01:02I hope our performance mirrors that crowd energy
01:07that we're going to get.
01:09And I think if we're at our very best,
01:12you know, we have a good chance.
01:14And ahead of Newcastle's fixture against Benfica,
01:17goalkeeper Nick Pope has made clear that he is in a good space
01:21with his current physical fitness.
01:25Tough to say in October, I think.
01:27But, yeah, I feel in a really good space myself and my game.
01:32Body feels really good.
01:33So, yeah, I feel like I've built well off a good pre-season.
01:38And, yeah, happy with where I am.
01:39I think I've really concentrated on my training
01:43and the work I do with the goalkeeper coaches
01:45and just day in, day out,
01:47really kind of focusing on myself and my game
01:50and just honing them skills.
01:53Yeah, I think that's something that's always at the back of your mind.
01:56As an England player with a World Cup year,
02:00but Newcastle, I mean, it comes first.
02:04And without Newcastle, there's no talk of England.
02:07So, yeah, it's something that's just will always be
02:10or is at the back of my mind
02:11until, you know, you get close to the summer, I'd say.
