00:03Wow oh my god families across Australia are drowning in clutter this is what we
00:14took out of your house for all of them the stakes are high and they're desperate for
00:24help clutter is anything that gets between you and the life you want to live Peter Walsh frees
00:33them from the stuff holding them back while Sheree Barber renovates their homes in record
00:41time and Angie Kent brings much-loved treasures back to life it gives me goosebumps it's the
00:55greatest transformation of their lives 25 year old Michael was born with cerebral palsy affecting
01:18his speech and ability to walk when he was just 14 his mum died suddenly from a brain
01:25hemorrhage and two years ago his dad was killed in a tragic car accident leaving Michael alone in
01:31the family home now his dad's best friend Anne is worried a new crisis is brewing Michael's a really
01:40fun-loving guy he's very positive happy-go-lucky but he hides a lot of his feelings it's a lot
01:49for
01:50a young person to suddenly lose my parents I know he's struggling because the clutter in the place
01:59has gotten a lot worse since his father has passed waking up and looking at the clutter going oh yeah
02:07that's not great I do feel embarrassed there's a lot of my dad's stuff around and so it can be
02:14quite hard to look at it brings up some you know good memories but also some painful for one to
02:21Mike
02:22he's having a hard time getting rid of stuff because I feel like he's lost a little bit and he
02:30really
02:30needs a fresh start memories of loved ones are precious but being surrounded by their clutter
02:45after they're gone can be paralyzing and for Michael the heartbreaking loss of his parents at such a young
02:52age means he needs our help to move forward with his life oh Michael guess what we're in the right
03:01place I can see clutter already hey may we come in of course okay let's do this come on guys
03:07let's go
03:11there's a lot of stuff in here Michael hello and right hello lots of clutter tell us about these rooms
03:20so this is the living room where I will watch TV and chill out uh-huh and uh occasionally get
03:26dressed
03:26yes okay so you've been in this house for 25 years I've lived here with my mum and my dad
03:34then they
03:35divorced and my mum moved out and when I was 14 she had a headache and then she just went
03:42to go lot lie
03:43down and then she passed away due to a brain hemorrhage and then my dad was struck by a car
03:50and that was
03:51instant to death for him I missed them more than anything in the world so you've had quite a bit
04:01of
04:01tragedy yes absolutely and so looking around this house how long has it been like this probably since
04:09since my dad passed away two years ago okay ever since then it has been quite quite hard to you
04:13know
04:14what wake up out of bed and go to work and and and to do everything okay so talk to
04:19me a little bit
04:20about your cerebral palsy so I did get the start-up from the cerebral palsy okay and my right hand
04:26can't
04:27really function as well as my left hand okay so you know it makes it harder for me to lift
04:33to lift
04:34so if I'm doing work if I'm moving stuff around I'm using up to about five times more energy than
04:39a
04:40normal person I used to have to wear the leg brace on my right leg but mum and dad raised
04:48me to just
04:48believe that I was normal like everybody else that there really wasn't anything wrong so I'm not
04:55physically as strong as everybody else but like I don't let that like affect me so this is virtually
05:04still my dad's house okay because there has been nothing that has really changed or has been added
05:10in the two years that he's been gone and how long have you been in Michael's life since he was
05:1712 okay
05:18really close friends with his dad and for me he's like a son I just love him I can't yeah
05:24it's hard to
05:25put in words I met Michael's father Scotty about 13 years ago and it was long after Scotty died I
05:35was
05:35going through a really rough patch in my life sorry and I swear to God I heard my friend Scotty
05:45say to me
05:45Ann get up off the couch right now my son needs you sorry and um I heard it again and
05:55not even five
05:56seconds later my kid was ringing me and I need a lift I'm stuck in the rain and I jumped
06:02off the couch
06:02from that moment it was like okay I have a purpose now Shree what are you thinking right now I
06:10can see the
06:11entry here I must say it's not very welcoming you've got a lot of clutter here I can see old
06:16fixtures and
06:17fittings old carpet and I must say I'm not so crazy about the yellow and ruby red color scheme no
06:23what's
06:23your style uh I could just uh a masculine style masculine okay that's good and what do you see
06:30here there's a lot of woodwork yes and a first prize is this your dad's yes what so he won
06:39first place for
06:40that bowl there so he was a woodworker by trade yes that is beautiful and where did he win first
06:46prize
06:46in the Royal Melbourne show oh wow so all of these things we're seeing around is stuff that he made
06:53yes
06:54absolutely is it important to you to have these still in the renovation yes absolutely what do you
07:01think your dad would want for you now oh he wouldn't want me to become my own person and to
07:08make this my
07:09own house and not my dad's house yeah yeah okay we've got a lot of work ahead of us what
07:15else do you want
07:15us to look at well if you walk down the hallway there you've got the master bedroom okay come on
07:21guys let's go come on good luck I'm nervous already let's go okay wow there is definitely a lot of
07:34stuff
07:34in here so was this your parents room yes and how long ago did you move in here about a
07:40year ago okay
07:41there's a couple of things I really want to talk to you about very directly yes how would you describe
07:46your state of mind depressed how do you deal with that just I just I'm able just to just kind
07:55of kind
07:55of block it out and then go on with the rest of my day okay for me there's this interplay
08:01between your
08:02physical environment and here yes yeah okay and at the moment your physical environment is in total disarray
08:12yes it's like a minefield yeah there are minefields everywhere here for you yes like you open a cupboard
08:18here and there's some of your stuff but then also some of my dad's be very hard on him it's
08:26hard on me sometimes yeah
08:27you open the door and it's like the ghost of Scott steps into the room you can feel it definitely
08:35yeah
08:36that's how I can imagine he's doing this every day these constant reminders of his parents traumatic
08:44passing are what I call malignant clutter and putting off dealing with it has left Michael with unresolved
08:51grief and feeling depressed which stops him letting go of these possessions so he's going to need help to
08:57break free of that negative debilitating cycle what's the future for you just live here maybe maybe start a
09:08family okay just live a very happy healthy healthy life I love that I love that like you have a
09:19dream
09:19yeah you have a dream for what you want yes of course then we're going to start packing up
09:23everything in this room let's get started let's do it awesome to help Michael feel the house is truly
09:31his own the living and dining room hallway and bedroom are all packed up so everything can be taken to
09:38a
09:38warehouse for sorting there's a lot of really delicate woodworking stuff hold this for a sec bubble wrap
09:47double wrap them so the frames the wood and the glass stays protected you got it yep done
09:59in the backyard Angie's hunting through a pile of unfinished woodwork projects I've spotted a
10:07beautiful old sundial that Michael's dad worked on but it is missing its stand and the weather hasn't been
10:12kind to it so I'm gonna give it some much-needed love to make it shine out the front Sheree
10:21notices
10:21the garden could also do with some TLC now your front yard I must say not looking so great I
10:27would
10:28love to tidy it up while I'm doing the renovation I know you don't drive so I've organized for Liz
10:33from
10:33great care to take you to the nursery to choose plants okay so off you guys coming up as the
10:50Renault
10:50team kick into gear go Peter is forced to slam on the brakes I want to be honest with you
10:57I'm not
10:57confident that there's going to be any change here Michael the family home 25 year old Michael has
11:10lived in all his life is being cleared of clutter and while his mum had moved out with her things
11:16before she died more than a decade ago his dad's belongings have been left untouched since he passed
11:22away two years ago I feel a little bit sad that I have to let stuff go but it's it's
11:31time for a
11:31change I think I'll be a little bit hard for him because it's always hard to let go of things
11:38especially
11:38things that mean so much to you with the last van loaded up the contents are taken to a nearby
11:46warehouse
11:48where the thousands of items are unpacked and separated into categories
11:54while Angie makes sure no treasures are lost in the process walk this way it's up to Michael with
12:01help from family friend Dan to decide what to keep donate or recycle here we go it's a big day
12:09Michael's cerebral palsy and unresolved grief over losing his dad have meant his struggle to deal
12:15with this mountain of clutter but to achieve his dream of creating a home that's truly his own
12:21while still honoring memories of the past I need Michael to engage with this difficult task ahead of
12:27him Michael when we got to your house let's be honest there was clutter everywhere on the count of
12:34three I would like you to open your eyes and have a look at what that clutter looks like laid
12:40out here
12:40before you one two three open your eyes oh wow that's a lot first up CDs DVDs books and how
12:58many cords and
12:59electronics does one man need crazy music home goods decorative stuff I know your dad loved woodworking
13:07carving and so on look at this wow and a small amount of this was your dad's clothing yeah a
13:14lot of it is
13:15yours my friend and as well as the clothing 30 pieces of furniture oh wow 111 bins and boxes totes
13:26plastic
13:27containers to get all of your stuff from your home to here yeah far out what are you thinking it's
13:38just
13:38incredible how much stuff had been like gathering over the over the years percentage-wise I'd say close
13:45to 80 percent of this needs to go yeah you've had two years to process the grief of your dad
13:51passing but
13:52yet I see a massive amount of memory stuff here yeah and the concern is how we deal with that
13:59it felt
14:00like he's in here at the moment for me you feel he's present yeah in what way it's just like
14:06he's
14:07here with me Mikey to support us yeah help us along yeah we've got a lot to get through let's
14:13get
14:13started come with me let's go come on reducing the clutter is one part of the process another is back
14:21at
14:21the house with just two days and a tight budget to transform the outdated living room dining room
14:29and main bedroom Sheree and the team waste no time ripping out the old fixtures this place looks
14:37like it hasn't been renovated since it was built in the 1970s and that's a far cry from a 25
14:43year old
14:44bachelor's modern dream and as Michael wants to have it in a masculine style I'm planning to go bold
14:50yet sophisticated to start with I'm tackling the open plan living and dining room which was divided
14:56by mismatched flooring sorry moving the old worn out carpet now the floors in this property are all
15:03over the place some have got holes different color floorboards some are cut out and damaged so I want
15:09to put the floating floorboards across the living room dining room into the hallway so I want to increase
15:14the sense of space within the property yes next Sheree's adding timber moldings to the walls thinking
15:29coming about 150 off the edge there maybe do like a 400 millimeter box frame it top and bottom then
15:38we'll
15:38paint it up just add some like decorative charm once the moldings are in place I can paint over the
15:49dated yellow walls with the daring ultra masculine charcoal gray that's almost black it'll certainly
15:55give a really strong contrast to the crisp white ceiling and cornices the fingers crossed I'm not
16:01going too dark with his traumatic transformation go Oliver yep good back at the warehouse go Michael
16:12is rapidly culling go his dad's CD and DVD collection okay one of the speediest sorts I've ever seen and
16:21it
16:21appears Michael's having no problem letting nearly all of it go go go so Peter swiftly moves on to
16:31sorting through clothes many of these items also belong to Michael's dad go and again most go
16:39straight to donation and go with zero emotional attachment it's feeling a little too easy I'm worried
16:46he'll suffer huge remorse afterwards by letting go of stuff too quickly with so little reflection and I
16:53fear Michael is dealing with these grief related items just like his depression getting on with it but at
17:00the same time blocking it out speed versus change which do you think I prefer change change and I'm worried
17:13at the moment that the whole emphasis here is on speed there's only one person I'm concerned about as
17:21we process through this you what is all this stuff called we're dealing with clutter clutter you want
17:32to know another term for clutter decisions delayed which makes you a procrastinator you got it a
17:40procrastinator I'll get to that letter later so clutter is decisions delayed which are things done later now one of
17:52the
17:52problems when that happens is that it takes up a ton of extra energy that rang a huge bell for
17:59me because with your
18:00disability how much energy do you spend compared to me five times and what that leads to
18:13is burnout yeah which leads to your state of mind which is depressed
18:22now I'm worried that you're focused on speed
18:28versus change yeah you're zooming through this and I want to be honest with you I feel like the only
18:35thing I'm doing for you right now is cleaning your house
18:40I'm worried that in a month or two months or three months you're going to be right back here
18:47I'm not confident that there's going to be any change here Michael
18:51and the problem is that if you don't deal with clutter you end up in this cycle cycle yeah
18:58possibly leading back down here yeah back to back back to depression so what are you going to do to
19:04break
19:06this cycle yeah it's tough but um what's tough just getting through the grief and you know and just
19:16trying to bring myself out of the uh the hole that I've gone into gone into okay that's an honest
19:23admission
19:24um it's about change not speed yeah let's keep going
19:30coming up Angie uncovers a unique treasure oh my god that's so special and Michael faces a difficult
19:38decision because your dad made it doesn't mean that you have to keep it
19:49as the renovation continues inside Michael's house outside the overgrown front garden is also getting much needed attention
19:59with Michael's cerebral palsy in mind we're making the new garden beds low maintenance
20:04with slow growing plants and thick mulch to keep the weeds away
20:14removing the weeds exposed the metal fence that's seen better days with the old paint flaking off
20:21it really should be repainted every seven to ten years to prevent rust
20:27so I'm using a spray gun to give it a bright new coat
20:30while making sure there's no wind so I avoid over spray
20:39at the warehouse
20:41Angie's keen to chat with Michael about photos and artwork she found amongst the clutter
20:46this photo here yes I'm guessing this is your beautiful father yes he had just come back
20:51from a night out and he called out to me Mikey let's take a selfie it's time to party and
20:57he loved
20:57the chat he loved the chat and that was basically about a week before he passed away oh really yeah
21:04would this be the last yes it did this is the last photo that that we took together oh it's
21:09a beautiful
21:10one look how happy he is and you know that you got to have a nice big chat with your
21:14dad that night
21:15absolutely what about this one so I was probably about seven that is my dad and that is my beautiful
21:23mom that's your mom do you have many photos together you three uh no no okay these are very very
21:31very
21:32special yes they are all right and this one over here is obviously your beautiful mama again what do
21:37you remember about her she was a very loving caring person so she took me to all all the appointments
21:44because my disabilities she was you know always there for me yeah and then can we have a little
21:52chat about these so I saw these randomly on the fridge yeah so my mum loved to just sketch things
21:59okay and then she put them up on the fridge so once she passed away my dad said to me
22:03goes oh I think
22:04that'd be good good if we kept them we'll leave them there as a good memory that's so nice so
22:09how long
22:10do you reckon they've been on the fridge for I'd say probably about 16 years maybe and they never
22:15never moved yeah oh my god that's so special Michael's memories are beautiful so I want to take
22:23extra care of these precious photos and artwork I'm going to pop them into these new floating frames
22:29after I've sprayed them the same dark shade of grey that'll match Marie's renault colour scheme
22:37I noticed there are a lot of guitars in your home yeah my dad ever since I was young he
22:43wanted me to
22:43play an instrument because he said look I can teach you how to play right-handed even though you're
22:48left-handed so that way you can strengthen up your right hand a little bit okay and then you know
22:53you
22:53can do all the main heavy lifting with your good good hand okay so in some ways music was not
23:00just a
23:00passion but it was kind of a bit of a guerrilla way of therapy and development for you as well
23:07along with helping Michael's cerebral palsy music was clearly a strong bond between father and son
23:14hopefully there are treasures here that can trigger Michael to reflect on the past and make well-considered
23:20choices me and my dad made this one come on are you serious
23:30so I did all of the carving and my dad did the remainder of the work how long did this
23:36take
23:37probably I'd say about six months so he
23:42this was my first guitar
23:45seriously I'm kind of speechless it's kind of a work of art so he did all that by hand so
23:50no
23:51machines or anything definitely keep
23:54so I'm relieved that Michael's not blocking this out by speeding through it these stay or go keep
24:02but for the home to finally feel like his this guy a keep okay so this is a keep as
24:09well
24:11I worry now he's keeping too much that is a puzzle that my dad put together so I would say
24:18that is a keep
24:19I want to push you a little bit at the moment
24:24because your dad made it doesn't mean that you have to keep it because it's a great memory but
24:33compared to this in terms of importance which holds greater importance the guitar
24:38absolutely yeah and I keep talking about always kind of a hierarchy of value
24:43this stands right at the very top yeah yeah so can that go yes good let's keep going yes
24:52hopefully this is a step towards getting the balance right this stay or go keep okay
24:59with Michael keeping the treasures that mean the most to him and letting the rest go
25:04the tuning forks that can go okay and the harp go as well okay great so this is what's being
25:11kept
25:11here yeah this is now part of your home absolutely ready to keep going of course let's go
25:20coming up sheree feels the pressure there's a lot of painting not much time while letting go
25:38the paint crew are hard at work in the living area and main bedroom all right there's a lot of
25:44painting not much time the old bedroom that was originally Michael's mum and dad's was definitely
25:50stuck in the past but the wall color was a really good idea green is very calming so to modernize
25:57it
25:57i'm going a couple of shades darker all right here we go i also want to make sure the bedroom
26:07feels
26:07really comfortable underfoot the carpet that was here before had been here for about 30 years
26:13so we're laying a plush new carpet in a neutral gray to offset the wall color
26:28outside new bedroom furniture sheree ordered has arrived the old bed Michael was sleeping in was
26:35actually his dad's with a dark heavy headboard and side tables that desperately need replacing
26:41so i've chosen a beautiful light timber that's still a small nod towards Michael and his dad's
26:47shared love of wood it's actually a really good bed for this room isn't it because there's not much
26:51room on the side so the fact this bed's got drawers down the end i love it
27:01over at the warehouse angie is tackling a woodwork project of her own
27:07this sundial was left unfinished by michael's dad after he passed away so i really want to honor his
27:13memory by completing it the timber base needs restoring after years of sitting in a pile outside
27:20luckily the wood hasn't started to rot so i'm sanding it right back then giving it three coats
27:26of marine grade varnish to protect it from the sun and rain as the doll shows no sign of rust
27:33i can
27:33polish it up with metal cleaner to make it look as good as new to add a stand to the
27:39base i picked up a
27:40second hand bird bar it's covered in algae growth but it'll clean up a treat with hot soapy water and
27:47a little bit of elbow grease once done this will become the centerpiece of michael's renewed front
27:53garden and a beautiful reminder of his dad so michael we gathered all of the pieces of woodwork yes and
28:02we've laid them out here on the tables a lot yes the woodwork projects michael's dad scott spent
28:09decades building are perhaps the most difficult part of his legacy to deal with but i'm hoping
28:16michael can strike a thoughtful balance while choosing what to keep and what to let go of because
28:21if he goes back to rushing now he might regret his decisions forever okay so these items here uh that
28:29can go okay these guys that they can go okay this guy keep why because it was one of his
28:37puzzles that he would talk about all the time he would always say well how did i get it in
28:41there
28:41and how did he get it in there he ended up just weakening the hole and then he got a
28:47mallet and then
28:48he smashed the arrow through there he smashed the arrow through that hole yeah i think he did it with
28:53magic but okay i'll accept it anyway okay so this is staying yeah it's great to see michael so engaged
29:00i made this with my dad at his workshop good so this is a key yep and that speed mode
29:07is off
29:08that's got a lot of memories he threw it into our front yard and he forgot about it for a
29:13week and it
29:14was still there it was stuck right right in the ground okay so that is a keep okay but he's
29:18also making
29:19the tough decisions they really don't hold any significant memories to me okay so they can be
29:24donated okay good this guy uh donate i'm sorry what what's going through your head right now i just
29:35have a chance to talk about this table how proud he was of it yeah this would definitely be a
29:40keep yeah
29:41i just remember scotty like his personality him you know all the craft work he used to do
29:48just his bubbly self i just can feel him in it almost yeah yeah yeah it's hard yeah
29:57emotionally the grief is a lot closer to the surface for ann but michael clearly also cherishes his dad's
30:03memory he was very very very proud okay so again this is a huge memory piece as well absolutely and
30:10is
30:10getting the balance right steak uh go no longer over representing his dad in what can now become
30:18michael's home last of all good shot of your dad keep okay good amazing job how are you feeling
30:25yeah good because all this stuff that i've kept is stuff that he would talk about all the time and
30:31every single story once you start telling it your face lights up you light up like a christmas tree
30:37there it is there and he steps right back in not as a ghost but as a really happy memory
30:45yeah there it is yeah okay we still have a little bit more to do that's good come on
30:52coming up as sheree's team race to make their deadline oh my god michael and ann are stunned by their
31:02declutter result i can't believe it
31:09as the renovation rubbish is being removed from the front of michael's house
31:15inside the team still have a lot to get done in a short amount of time
31:22to modernize the entryway's old curved style picture rails sheree's replacing them with the
31:28same square edge timber moldings as the living and dining room while this will tie together the spaces
31:33i'm cautious not to overdo michael's preferred masculine style
31:38so to offset the dark and moody living area i'm painting the entry and hallway a bright warm neutral
31:45and to make the dark colored living and dining room pop
31:49good lighting is crucial the two old pendants gave me a bad 1980s vibe
31:55so i'm replacing one with an eye-catching gold dome
31:58and the other with a sleek minimalist look
32:02so we're adding down lights and wall lights to show off the elegant new furniture and cabinetry we're
32:09installing as well as the old treasures coming back to the house
32:17meanwhile michael's fully engaged with culling the last of the clutter keep go
32:22good good making well considered choices be it for shoes artwork go bedding good table and chairs go or old
32:34furniture
32:35second couch go and go while angie tallies up how much is being donated to charity
32:47okay good finally it's time for the results of the huge effort michael and you have worked incredibly
32:56hard to go through a mountain of clutter that michael we brought from your house here to the hall

34:09talented father we've got tons and tons of clothes books dvds you're going to donate that and it is going
34:17to be the cash equivalent of five and a half thousand dollars which is a huge donation how are you

34:49for donation are loaded onto the charity truck while the items to keep are brought back to the house
34:55where peter finds the best place for them
35:00out in the new garden angie completes her sundial project
35:05as the inside gets a much needed clean and the bedroom is organized please tell me this is the
35:12laundry basket awesome one of michael's big problems he has a floor drove all over the place
35:25i must admit i've stepped out of my comfort zone trying to get this masculine style right
35:31i was worried it could end up looking a bit bleak but the beautiful pieces michael's dad created
35:38really helped the spaces come alive with a striking unique identity so i'm hoping this is exactly the
35:46kind of bachelor pad michael will be proud to call his own coming up oh my god oh wow the
35:58renovation blows
36:10michael and ann are about to see the renovated home for the first time i'm so so excited to see
36:16my new

36:55god
37:04amazing it's beautiful
37:08the living room is no longer the time capsule from when michael's dad passed away
37:14but a modern young bachelor's haven that retains happy memories from the past
37:20oh my god yeah wow incredible that is beautiful i could never have dreamed it would look this good
37:26serene you've done an amazing job thank you so much the tears say it all all right first of all
37:32i
37:32went the bold color scheme michael i really want this property to feel masculine what do you think of
37:36the color oh i think it's incredible you've actually got these gorgeous cornices and what the black does
37:41it actually makes them pop your walls were pretty plain before so we added these wall moldings just
37:46to make them look better and we've also installed all new gorgeous lighting so even though it's a
37:51really dark color it doesn't feel like a dark home i think the biggest change for me was taking out
37:57your
37:57grungy carpet that's been here for about 30 or 40 years yes and you've got these beautiful floating
38:04floorboards now and your dad's coffee table is the centerpiece of the room incredible it looks amazing
38:11yeah it does there's also the dining room which is an extension of this space turn around and check
38:15out your dining room oh wow wow wow that's so good i love it it's incredible
38:31the dining room continues the bold inviting theme ready for michael to entertain guests
38:39oh the plate yeah the plate on display well michael i want you to have friends over so
38:44you've got a beautiful dining setting there for six people you've got the dome light so it's a bit
38:48of mood lighting through there beautiful you've got a beautiful buffet so lots of storage again
38:53your little treasures are there and you've got the beautiful privacy curtains there beautiful
39:00the entry was another throwback to a bygone era with dreary yellow walls
39:06old furniture and gym equipment that made for a cluttered space
39:11so check out your new entry hall wow it's so good i love that
39:24it's so good i thought it would be nice to have the memories right as you walk in yeah all
39:44my dads
39:45would work as well yeah it's wonderful well we painted throughout we've obviously put the storage
39:51shelves it's really nice and bright now and it's a very different contrast to the black color incredible
39:57beautiful i think it's going to be an amazing new start for him with his dad's little memories here
40:04and there but also a new place that says mikey's home
40:10the bedroom was largely how michael's dad left it with his generation's furniture and style
40:17making michael feel like he didn't belong there
40:22oh wow that's incredible
40:32wow it's so beautiful that looks amazing oh my god i love it
40:40now it's been reborn with a modern sophisticated update fit for a 25 year old young man
40:48look at the furniture yeah the bed amazing oh the walls incredible oh and the carpet yeah the carpet
40:56curtains curtains the beautiful wood furniture stunning oh i'm glad you like it so we've painted
41:02throughout did this beautiful green color it's a very relaxing color which is really appropriate for a
41:08bedroom we put the wall moldings on for decorative effect we've got the same pendant
41:13light that's in the dining room beautiful to tie the rooms together we've got the beautiful block
41:18out curtains so they won't let the sun in if you don't want them to and this gorgeous bedroom
41:23suite and i chose this one because it's all made out of wood it's a little nod to your dad
41:28and here a bit of a nod to your dad as well oh incredible well this was your dad's room
41:34and your
41:34dad's home for me now it has your imprint all over it does it feel like your space yes absolutely
41:42i absolutely love it it's everything i could have ever wanted for it to feel like my home we still
41:48have
41:49one more beautiful space to show you you ready for another little surprise absolutely then let's do it
41:54the front yard was badly overgrown and a maintenance nightmare with weeds overrunning every garden bed
42:04it's the first time you've seen the yard wow wow
42:12now low maintenance plants and a thick layer of mulch promise less upkeep giving michael more time to
42:20focus on his hopes and dreams oh incredible i love it first of all have you noticed that your fence
42:27is
42:27a different color yeah it looks amazing we also did a big de-weeding of your garden you might remember
42:33it looked a little bit like a forest a little bit you went to the nursery and chose these plants
42:38they're
42:38all low maintenance so they'll grow beautifully and you'll have a really established garden that you
42:43won't need to sort of tend to too often and there's one special thing here as well ang well i
42:49love
42:49going through all the little treasures and i did find your dad's sundial at the back and i've given
42:56a little bit of a george so you can come out here and you've got a little piece of your
42:59dad out here
42:59still as well amazing what's it michael how have you found the week it's been an incredibly rewarding
43:05experience and i thank you so much for helping me through it living with cerebral palsy and losing
43:14both parents at a young age led to clutter taking over michael's home but with ann's support and the
43:22courage to engage with his past he's made space in his life for a bright new future
