00:12Hello everyone. Today we're
00:13going to talk about Mario Nostrum,
00:15the new expansion for Europe on the Solace 4,
00:18where we add a lot of stuff
00:20related to naval aspects of the game.
00:22As you keep adding to a game
00:24or its life cycle, it tends to
00:25become slightly more complex.
00:27So we look into ways to reduce
00:29the complexity without making
00:31it feel less engaging.
00:33So, one of these things in Mario Nostrum
00:35is the naval mission system.
00:37We revamped how you create and give orders
00:39to navies, like you can give a
00:41blockade order to a fleet, and it will
00:43split up and put the ships of various
00:45sea zones all by itself,
00:47keeping the blockade as efficient as possible.
00:49Why have we done this? Well,
00:50you've all played large empires,
00:52it's kind of hard to micromanagement
00:54and everything at the same time,
00:56and it's not really what you want to do.
00:58You want to play as the king or as the queen
01:00or as the president of your nation,
01:02not as every single sea captain.
01:05Another awesome naval-related
01:07improvement is our introduction
01:08of sailors. We've had manpower before
01:10and manpower was stuff you added
01:12to your armies. Ships were just a
01:14cost of money, which was slightly
01:17unrealistic and unbalanced.
01:19So this time we added a sailor cost
01:21to each ship, where heavy big ships
01:23cost far more sailors, while a galley
01:26does not require as much sailors.
01:28This means that we can balance stuff
01:30so that you need to have a large coastline
01:32and a lot of naval tradition
01:33to give you more sailors.
01:35And we also introduced other aspects
01:37related to this, like allowing the
01:39Berber nations to raid for slaves,
01:42which you can use under galleys.
01:44We've also introduced the concept
01:46of pressing sailors while
01:47occupying enemy territory,
01:49to get the sailors from those things.
01:52And we've also completely rebalanced
01:54how the naval combat work.
01:56Marinostrum also adds aspects
01:58to the trade game. We introduced the
01:59concept of trade leagues, something
02:01we've had in previous versions of
02:03Europe-Bernizales, but never really made it
02:05into EU4. Now, merchant republics
02:08can invite small,
02:09what we call one-province minors
02:11into a trade league, and they will all
02:14protect each other while giving lots
02:16and lots of trade power to the leader
02:18of the league. Of course, there's also
02:20benefits to being inside the trade league
02:22if you're a small nation, as you get far
02:24more goods produced in your provinces.
02:26We've also completely
02:27revamped how espionage works.
02:30The bulk of that change is
02:31in the free patch. Now, instead
02:34of just sending a diplomat and having
02:35a random chance, and if you're going to be
02:37successful or not, now you're building
02:40up spy networks in other nations
02:42and you can actually reduce other nations
02:44spy networks in your nation.
02:46You do actions that are instantaneous
02:48and you get your rewards as they go.
02:50We also added quite a lot of new
02:52cool spy actions, like you can
02:54steal maps from other nations,
02:56you can try to increase the
02:58corruption of their government,
03:00and really play havoc with your
03:02rivals. In the free accompanying patch
03:05to Marinostrum, we've done quite a lot
03:08of map changes. There's been places
03:10of Europe that's been redrawn, tweaked,
03:12promises added, most notably
03:14in Ireland and Hungary. But the main
03:16map changes have been in Africa.
03:18It's been in the Zambia region,
03:20the lake region there. We also have
03:22the inner of Congo, and there's lots
03:24more nations there, making it more
03:26fun and engaging play in Africa.
03:29There's so many cool stuff that we're
03:31adding to Marinostrum, like
03:32unconditional surrender, a full
03:34timeline map mode, and
03:36the coolest of them all.
03:38My favorite features is the Condutieres.
03:41Condutieres we added to the game
03:42after I had so much fun playing
03:44with Expeditionary Forces
03:46in Hodgewine 4, where you basically
03:48have control over your own units
03:50as you're helping someone else without
03:52actually being involved in the war.
03:53You rent out a part of your army to
03:56another nation, they will pay you,
03:58you'll get army tradition, you'll be able
04:00to move that army about. This is
04:02stuff you can do when you have slow
04:03times, when you're at peace and
04:05recovering and you can't fight another
04:07war, you rent out your army to keep
04:09your tradition up and you keep
04:10fighting and get some money and have
04:12fun. Marinostrum will be released
04:15at the 5th of April for 14.99
04:17and you'll really be able to enjoy
04:19these great cool features now.
04:35and you're at the end of the day in
