00:00they restructured kicker jake elliott's contract a lot of people thought maybe they'd bring in
00:05some competition for elliott in training camp because he hasn't had the greatest of seasons
00:10over the last two but is this signaling elliott's definitely back with no competition i think so
00:16because it's a it's a decent number it's around with four million dollars now that is guaranteed
00:21for him i'll be honest with you bill i don't like it um elliott has been awesome obviously for this
00:29franchise huge moments uh really steady for a lot of years but the last couple years have
00:35looked different for him and there it's it's been a little shaky and there's a chance that he just
00:41sort of gets back into his normal groove and and and he's rocking and this proves out to be
00:47no big deal but there is definitely another scenario out there where the trend continues from the last
00:52two seasons and and people are pretty agitated in the city because they've kind of committed
00:57themselves to a kicker that has shown signs that you know maybe he's not as steady as he once was
01:03and so i understand the need to identify contracts that can help free up cap space to to benefit you
01:10in other areas but personally i would have left it alone with elliott i would have i would go into
01:15the training camp with competition uh push him a little bit and and give yourself some options i mean
01:22as as good as he's been you can't be tied to the same kicker forever and if he's starting to
01:26show
01:26some signs like you know maybe you know maybe it's going to go in a different direction for him then
01:30i don't know why you would then turn around and guarantee that kind of money
