00:13And I think that the message that at least from my side I will share with the rest of
00:18leaders is that we have to be involved, engaged in a diplomatic solution, in a de-escalation
00:24of this war in Iran and in the whole Middle East.
00:28I do believe that this war is interconnected with the rest of the wars that we have witnessed
00:33over the last years when it comes to Gaza, also West Bank and of course what is happening
00:40in Lebanon.
00:42And that is why I think it's very important to stand for these principles, to be engaged
00:48and to be united.
00:49And I'm looking forward for this unity in the Council because I think it's very important.
00:57This is a very defining moment for the European Union and I think that we need to send a clear
01:02message to our citizens and the rest of the world that Europe is with multilateralism and
01:08is with international law and we are against this war.
01:11We are against this war because it's illegal, there's no reason behind it and it's causing
01:17a lot of damage.
01:17It's civilians, of course refugees and the economic consequences that the whole world, especially
01:25the global south, is already suffering.
01:33Europe is based on the principles of multilateralism, therefore of the shared decisions, not unilaterals,
01:41of international rights, of peace, of respect to a peaceful coexistence between nations and
01:49societies.
01:49And that is now what is what is happening once more in this case, in the war of Iran.
01:56A war that from the government of Spain, and I would say that from the whole of the Spanish
02:00society, from the first minute we have condemned, that we do not support, that we consider
02:05illegal and that, unfortunately, not only in terms of cost of human lives, of displaced and
02:12refugees, but also from the point of view of the well-being of our citizens, we have begun to
02:19suffer.
02:27Spain will defend, as it has defended, along with other nations and other European governments,
02:32of all political families, the need not to debilitate, but to increase and strengthen
02:38the green policies, which not only allow us to respond to that challenge that humanity
02:45is the climate change, but also allow us to defend the pocket of the citizens.
02:49Thank you very much.
03:15We have to first put in place
03:18the price of 90 billion euros
03:20which was decided in December last.
03:21It's a decision which was taken
03:23by the chiefs of the government.
03:25It must be implemented in order.
03:26And we have to increase
03:28our capacity of military production.
03:30It's what we defend for months.
03:31We have put the instruments in place
03:33because we know that we, for our security,
03:36and the Ukrainians,
03:37will need more and more
03:39of European production in the current context.
03:46I speak every time to Viktor Orban
03:48and I want to advance
03:50on the support of the Ukraine
03:51who needs it
03:52and that we hold our hand
03:54on the 90 billion euros to close.
04:02Several other countries
04:04of the Gulf
04:04have been struck
04:05for the first time
04:06on their production capacity
04:08in the same way
04:09that Iran had been struck
04:10in the morning.
04:11This escalation is inconsiderate.
04:13I was able to hear
04:14yesterday
04:14with President Trump
04:17and he, in the night,
04:19he called himself
04:20to stop all these bombardements
04:23and these attacks
04:23against civil infrastructures
04:25like gas, petrol
04:26but also eau.
04:28And I will say here,
04:29we defend the idea
04:30of a moratorium
04:31on civil infrastructures,
04:32on civil people
04:33in this conflict
04:34and a rapid escalation
04:36while the region
04:38enters in a period
04:39of religious fêtes.
04:40I think that
04:40all the spirits
04:41should calm
04:42and the fight
04:42should stop
04:43at least for a few days
04:44to try to give
04:45a chance
04:46to negotiations.
05:02Good morning.
05:03Good morning all the time.
05:04I'm glad to see you.
05:05I'm glad to see you today.
05:06I'm glad to have the opportunity
05:06to talk about many
05:08big international topics.
05:09I'm glad to see you today.
05:17I'm glad to see you today.
05:22I'm glad to see you today.
05:46I'm glad to see you today.
06:16I'm glad to see you today.
06:18the American President in the last night here has a sign that he is ready to come to a
06:24end of the negotiations. That is, that the Iran takes from his nuclear weapons program
06:31to end the terror and is ready to speak. If this is all in the next days possible,
06:36then we move in the right direction. But we will be still with these challenges
06:41and in this way I come back to what actually brings us together,
06:46namely the question of how we can achieve the European economy,
06:51that we have growth and that we also use the innovation potential
06:56that is in Europe we have to use. I have that yesterday in the
06:58legislation in Berlin so said and I will also say that today
07:02again the colleagues and colleagues here, we have to get a really big step
07:06forward and that is also the issue of the European bureaucracy.
07:09And the Commission is ready to use this momentum with us together
07:13and that is why I am very thankful that we can talk about these issues today.
07:15and that is why we can talk about these issues today.
07:29What are you doing today?
07:30What are you doing today?
07:45We are doing this on the opening of the seaways and them free to keep us
07:49but we do not do that in the laudation of the kampfhandlungen,
07:52but that we do not do that when the kampfhandlungen are finished.
07:56It is then also a international mandate that we don't have an international mandate.
08:01And so we have a lot of steps here before we can talk about such a thing.
08:08We have a long agenda today of course.
08:36very important topics like energy and single market but from my competences it is of course
08:43what is happening in the Middle East and Ukraine so first on Middle East the Iran's attacks on
08:50Qatar energy infrastructure create further chaos and it's clear that we need an exit from this war
08:58not escalation and that's why I've been also doing the diplomatic outreach to Iran to find
09:06different solutions to be very clear I talked to the minister before the execution of the Swedish
09:11citizens so I was not able to raise that but in my future calls I will definitely do that to
09:20raise
09:21all the issues that we have we have United Nations here today and we are also working closely with
09:28them to find a safe passage for the ships via the Strait of Hormuz because it's really a problem for
09:36especially Asia as well as Africa that the oil gas but also fertilizers and food does not move from the
09:45Strait of Hormuz because it's not safe at the moment then of course Ukraine we will discuss today and
09:54the big question in the room is the support loan how can we proceed with the support loan that was
10:01agreed already in December by the leaders and it's really really time to show our support to Ukraine
10:10because the war in the Middle East is connected to the war in Ukraine and unfortunately Russia is gaining
10:17from the war in the Middle East so that's why I mean exiting or ending this war is equally
10:25important to have a solution also for Ukraine that is not complete surrender to Russia
10:38well let's see I'm not very very optimistic but I know that president Costa is is really working hard to
10:47find find a solution also with Victor Auburn there are alternatives but let's see how this how this goes and
10:57and really I it also needs political courage from from all of us well if that helps to to you
11:13know have a safe passage
11:15also for for Hungary to say that they agree but they have already agreed that's the problem now they are
11:22taking their
11:23agreement back and we also have you know close in our treaties that we are you know cooperating in
11:31good faith and this is definitely not one of them but the question for us is how can we really
11:38you know
11:38force the implementation of the agreement that we made in December well foreign ministers are Monday
11:52they were very strong in in really pushing Hungary to agree and also provide solutions because if they
12:00have an issue with the oil their neighbor Croatia can also provide this oil so so it was a constructive
12:08approach but I guess you know in the time of elections people are not that rational
12:19as I said president Costa is working with solutions I was talking to him yesterday as well and and let's
12:29see how we find the passage out
12:52well yeah I don't have a crystal ball to just tell you when the war will be over what is
12:58important
12:59is that for all of us in European Union we want to see the end of this war we definitely
13:06see the
13:07chaos that is causing in the Middle East but also the ramifications it has for the rest of the world
13:1485% of
13:15oil and gas that goes via the strait of Hormuz goes to Asia and we already see problems there also
13:22the
13:22same with fertilizers that African countries need for example Sudan 54% of the fertilizers to Sudan come
13:31via the strait of Hormuz so we are working with our Gulf partners also with Egypt Jordan to really find
13:40uh you know a solution that the parties could end this war
14:03yes the discussions that we had on Monday with the foreign ministers were about our operation as
14:09leaders that is in the region already with the ships guarding the safe passage through the Red Sea so
14:16the discussion was whether there is a wish to also expand this to operate in the strait of Hormuz there
14:24was
14:24no such wish because you know the ministers were saying that we were not consulted somewhere he's been
14:31saying that we tried to convince parties not to start this war and we don't know whether the objectives of
14:39this war and and also there is no you know international law basis if you think about using using the
14:48force for example there are two cases which one is self-defense and the other one is under the UN
14:54Security Council resolution as there is no such thing at this moment the member states do not have an
15:02appetite to go to this war for the Iranian people we have always supported the Iranian people the civil
15:08society so that they can decide for their own future of course the regime has has been very
15:16oppressive there's a lot of human suffering for the Iranians but it has to be Iranians that are able
15:24to decide for their own future thank you
15:54for their own future thank you
16:00so
16:03thank you
