00:00This has been on the discussion of quite a few European councils where you will recall that the process in
00:09the European Parliament was paused during the Greenland period and I think that was the right political signal to send
00:18then.
00:18Since then, negotiations have been going quite intensely with the negotiating team in the European Parliament, whom I thank for
00:29their work and simply goes in the direction of what we do when we do our job.
00:34So today in the International Trades Committee, by 29 votes to 9, strong safeguards were indeed added, including a sunrise
00:44clause and this is what will be set for a vote in plenary next week, after which there will be
00:52negotiations with Council before a final vote.
00:55So Parliament is living up to responsibility for bringing this deal to life. We are doing our job. We will
01:02do it properly as we provide stability, we hope, to our transatlantic partnership and a much needed predictability to our
01:12businesses on both sides of the Atlantic.
01:14So I'm very grateful to the Parliament's negotiating team for addressing real citizens' concerns in this regard, but we are
01:23keeping up our end of the bargain and moving.
