00:06baby in Camden is to be extended for another year. Launched in May 2025, the scheme provides
00:13the unconditional grant to help with everyday expenses. Those eligible include people on
00:20universal credit, housing benefit and council tax support. Camden Council, which is funding
00:25the project, said that extra support was relieving financial pressure at a time when costs are
00:31rising. Camden is thought to be one of the first boroughs in the UK to offer this type
00:36of pregnancy grant, although a national scheme called Shure Start also offers a ÂŁ500 payment
00:43to low-income parents.
