00:34Fourth-fastest coach in NBA history that reached 600 wins
00:37as you take a look at the active head coaches with the most career wins.
00:40Doc Rivers, nearly at 1,200.
00:42Not sure he's going to get that.
00:44Milwaukee's struggling right now.
00:45Steve better hug Steph a little bit harder than that.
00:49Start thanking him for a lot of those wins.
00:51Rick Carlisle hasn't won a game if 15 tries.
00:54They haven't won a game since the All-Star break, the A&M Pacers.
00:57And, of course, Eric Spoelstra, he's up there.
01:00With the Miami Heat, all those wins coming with the Miami Heat, of course.
01:04So, Steve Kerr doing a great job with the Golden State Warriors.
01:06Of course, in this season, it's been challenging, no doubt about it.
01:08I just mentioned 36 different starting lineups.
01:11Last season, they had 38 different starting lineups.
01:13It's a 13th consecutive game in which he has had to trot out a different five.
01:18But this matchup tonight is fascinating.
01:20Joe Mazzula, who's a Coach of the Year candidate against Steve Kerr.
01:23I love the chess match here between these two coaches.
01:25I mean, you've got to think about the story of Steve Kerr.
01:27You know, first-time coach comes into the Golden State Warriors and wins the championship his first year.
01:31It's really taken off since then.
01:33You know, the pairing of, you know, this ball-moving style this year has really struggled due to injuries.
01:39Like, it's hard for any coach.
01:40The best ability in basketball is availability.
01:43He's had to find a way to kind of hold this team together with glue.
01:47Meanwhile, on the other hand, Joe Mazzula's coming into the season where his team is struggling.
01:51They felt like they were not going to have a chance, at least that's what everybody else said.
01:55But he himself has found a way to get this team playing well.
01:57He's really, at this point in the season, they got all the role players playing well.
02:01Jason Tatum is back.
02:02Jalen Brown is playing at MVP level.
02:04And with all that being the case, they're tightening up the screws right now.
02:08They're trying to get ready to play until June.
02:10Yeah, Joe Mazzula's done a great job.
02:12He's won over 70% of his games his first four seasons.
02:14He's only 37 years old.
02:15He's done a tremendous job keeping that team together until Tatum got back.
02:20So, they're a step ahead of the Warriors as far as they got Tatum back.
02:24The Warriors will get Steph Curry back soon.
02:27But you can't say enough about what he's done to keep that team together.
02:30They've won a championship under him.
02:32So, he's a great coach.
02:34Steve's got four championships, you know, on his resume.
02:38But, you know, the last 10 games, the Warriors are 3-7, Celtics 7-3.
02:42So, kind of going in different directions until the Warriors get whole.
02:45Think about Mazzula, though.
02:46He took over for Ime Udoka and got rushed into that role.
02:49And they haven't skipped the beat.
02:51But both coaches have a great ability to connect with their players.
02:55Now, Joe Mazzula, he's got some idiosyncrasy.
02:59He's got some great post-game comments and things like that.
03:02But it works with his group.
03:03And Steve has always been great connecting with his players.
03:06And that's who he was as a player, was Virginia.
03:08Kind of a hard-head, quirky type of dude.
03:10But it works.
03:11A little quirky.
03:11A little quirky, but, I mean, you can't argue with the results.
03:15These guys are really playing well.
03:17They're playing very disciplined.
03:18Top five, offense and defense.
03:20What's he going to say about that?
03:20This is going to be a huge test for the Golden State Warriors here in the third game of the
03:24six-game road trip on the parquet floor.
03:27The Celtics are out there warming up.
03:28Where's the Warriors at?
03:30We've got about 10 minutes until game time.
03:33Let's get some layups up as we go out to Boston to the Gentleman Call of the Action.
03:36As always, here at NBC Sports.
03:37Talk about the difference between our coaching styles.
03:39What's going on?
03:40Where are the Warriors sat on the floor?
03:42Oh, there they are behind Fitz and Buki.
03:44What up, Fitz?
03:44What up, Buki?
03:45As we get ready for this tough test for the Golden State Warriors, the third game on the
03:48six-game road trip.
03:49But the other night, Fitz, it was good to see Christos Porzingis continue to get better
03:54in this system.
03:5530 points off the bench for the Dubs, including the three-block shots.
03:57That's a positive sign for the Dubs.
04:00Well, Plante, you were saying Joe Mazzula and Steve Kerr chess match.
04:04Coach, I'll play you in chess and take away half your pieces and see how you're doing.
04:09It's a chess match.
04:11One team's got everybody on the board.
04:12But for the Warriors, I do think Porzingis is really a good story.
04:18He's going to start tonight.
04:19He's a former Celtic.
04:2130 points off the bench.
04:22That's why the starting lineup doesn't mean as much.
04:25But firepower and scoring, how they find 100 points tonight, Kay, that is going to be the
04:31challenge.
04:31It's going to be hard.
04:32It's like Magnus Carlsen against me, basically.
04:34The chess match.
04:35But, you know, you're thinking about Porzingis, his first game back here as a Warrior.
04:39You got the great fanfare.
04:40That was really cool to see.
04:41Mully, your first year in the league was 85-86, right?
04:45Correct.
04:46So the Celtics were the team back then, right?
04:49They were pretty much the best team in the league.
04:51100%.
04:51Talk to me about what it felt like when you're young in your career, coming out against one
04:56of the best teams in the league.
04:57If you play well against that team, how much confidence did you glean from that?
05:01Yeah, I think you always want to measure yourself against the best.
05:04And this Celtic team, like the history in Boston there, they're a championship contender.
05:09They've gotten healthy with Jason Tatum back in the lineup.
05:12But they still play an old-style type of game.
05:15You know, they're 19-2 when they hold their opponents, when they score 110 points.
05:21That's not a lot of points as we look at Chief there.
05:23What a dynamic center he was.
05:25But this is going to be a defensive battle, and they give up the least points in the paint
05:30in the league.
05:3139 points per game in the points in the paint.
05:34So finding shots, taking care of the basketball, it's going to be a tough game tonight for the
05:39Warriors.
05:40And Festus, I think Mully's leading it to something that's so different than the Warriors have had
05:45recently.
05:45We've talked about, hey, stop settling for threes and go inside.
05:49And that's against Washington and Utah and Chicago.
05:53That's fine.
05:54I think tonight, Festus, the first available open shot, you take it.
05:58Because if you wait with Boston's defense, a good shot may not come around on that same
06:04possession.
06:04Yeah, Fitz, Buki, I hear you the whole broadcast.
06:07Go inside.
06:08And right now, that's going to be one of the keys.
06:11But the way to do that, you have Brandon Pajemski, you have Guy Santos, and you have
06:15DeAnthony Melton.
06:16These guys are the best shot creators from the inside.
06:18And now you have Christos Bazingas, who's also a post-up matchup for the Warriors.
06:22So being able to move the basketball is going to be key.
06:25But being able to create rotation, make the Boston Celtics make mistakes.
06:29Great defense.
06:29They hold their opponents to the lowest points per game in the NBA, 107 points a game.
06:34You've got to make sure you make that defense work, make them get in rotations, make them
06:37confused so you can get to easier shots.
06:40And maybe if you start the game off that way, you can get easier shots later on in the game
06:44as well.
06:44Yeah, you almost got to be more creative against this Celtics team to get inside than most things.
06:50I think Guy Santos, Will Richard, Pat Spencer, all these guys, they can play well against
06:55this team.
06:55Boston's not going to make mistakes defensively.
06:57Yeah.
06:58Rebounding is going to be huge, though, Festus, because offensive rebound, this is one of the
07:02best teams in the league.
07:03All these threes being shot, all the long rebounds, you got to make sure you grab some of these
07:07rebounds defensively for sure.
07:09Buki, to beat this team, you got to play Messi, and Messi means you got to slow the game down,
07:15you got to disrupt their offense, you got to play with effort, get steals, second chance
07:19points.
07:19All those things are going to be important when you're going against a really good defensive
07:22team.
07:23And, Fitz, you can't beat yourself.
07:24The Boston Celtics, they take care of the ball better than anybody in the league averaging
07:28to 12.2 turnovers per game.
07:30So, it is imperative that the Doves take care of the basketball tonight against the Celtics.
07:34You guys have a good call out there in Boston.
07:36Yeah, now you hear the guys, and we're talking about it.
07:39This is a monumental task against an elite team that's top five in offense and defense.
07:45But it's also special in that there are a few iconic buildings in the NBA.
07:49Warriors artists played in one in Madison Square.
07:52There's always a buzz in the building when you come here.
07:55It's the winning tradition.
07:56We just saw Robert Parrish walk behind us.
07:59Like, the greats are here, it feels like.
08:01So, you want to play well, put your best foot forward.
08:04And you kind of look at this game almost like the Houston Rockets game, where the Warriors
08:08played so well, had a chance to win it, found a way to get that win.
08:10You just want to have a good performance, keep this game close as long as possible, and
08:16see what happens in the end.
08:17You need a different recipe when you play without Steph Curry.
08:20And the Warriors have that on display against Washington.
08:23They went inside relentlessly, seasoned best points in the paint, our Kaiser Permanente teamwork
08:29in action.
08:30Maybe it isn't all threes all the time, man movement, ball movement, and it paid off.
08:34They were amazing against the Wizards, cutting, moving without the ball.
08:39They drove it in there, they used their ball screens to get in there, drive from one side,
08:43cut from the other.
08:44Guys who were working the baseline, they were exploiting switches.
08:48Chris Stapp's Porzingis was dominating.
08:50Okay, 68 points is great against the Wizards.
08:52If you can get anywhere close to like 40, 50 points in the paint in this game, you're doing
08:58something.
08:58But you don't want to be scared to drive.
09:00You look for any opportunity you can to drive.
09:02Never miss an opportunity to drive because they're not going to come around very often.
09:06Take the first open shot.
09:07Try to find a good shot.
09:08You're always thinking about your sought selection.
09:10But you are going to have to be a little more creative to score inside this game.
09:13You know, you always hear Steph Curry say, tune out the noise.
09:16When Jason Tatum went down in the playoffs, he's going to be out forever.
09:20The noise was that Boston was done as a title contender.
09:24You know who didn't listen to that noise?
09:26Jalen Brown.
09:27He decided, I'm the leader of this team.
09:29The four plays of the day, he became an MVP candidate.
09:33He's starting to drive.
09:35He'll pass the ball.
09:36Hey, we're still going to win.
09:37And he led them and kept them afloat.
09:39He's met the challenge head on.
09:41He's like, guys, we are not going to be bad without Jason Tatum.
09:44I'm going to keep us more than afloat.
09:47We're going to thrive.
09:48And I'm the head of this snake.
09:50And he's driving more this season.
09:52Best in the league there.
09:54Most drives in the league per game.
09:55And I feel like that's what's kind of helped him be this consistent.
09:59Every single game, meeting the challenge, consistently having big scoring games,
10:03letting the guys lean on him.
10:04It's been impressive to watch.
10:05And guess who came back 298 days later?
10:08Jason Tatum said, I'm not going to leave you by yourself.
10:11I'm back.
10:12And in five games, pretty good productivity.
10:14It's really impressive to see he's kind of changing the amount of time in people's minds
10:20that you have to sit out with an Achilles injury.
10:23Coming back this early, looking this good.
10:25If I'm the Warriors, though, I still want to test him defensively.
10:28Just to see if he's on you on the perimeter.
10:31Give him a few jab steps.
10:32Go the other, you know, just to see what he can do defensively.
10:35But so cool to see him back.
10:37Congratulations to him getting back this soon.
10:40Kalena, the first player to ever jab step in an open of a broadcast.
10:43I like that.
10:44Now, scoring against Boston.
10:46They allow in the last 10 games only 102 points per game.
10:49If the Warriors only had a 30-point score, like a Steph Curry or Jimmy Butler.
10:54Oh, wait.
10:55They did have a 30-point score.
10:57Kristaps Porzingis had 30 against Washington.
11:01The former Celtic comes back.
11:03He'll be in the starting lineup.
11:05They'll look for him relentlessly.
11:07Can you deal with the C's tonight?
11:09Monta and the guys are back in the studio.
11:11Coming up next.
11:12In an Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics.
11:14Fezzi, I'll start with you.
11:15Well, you've got to hit shots in this game.
11:16And the way you do that is by creating easy shots.
11:18Attack, penetrates the defense, gets second-side, weak-side shots.
11:22And most importantly, the basketball is everything!
11:25Take care of the ball.
11:27Celtics and the Warriors rely on 40% of their scoring comes from three-point range.
11:31Which team creates higher-quality three-point shots will win this game?
11:35That should be a lot of fun here as the Warriors get ready to entangle the Celtics
11:38on the parquet floor to see if they can do the unthinkable and upset the ball.
11:55The day after St. Patrick's Day, where else would you rather be than a house inhabited by leprechauns?
12:02The Boston Celtics and the Warriors stop three on this six-game road trip.
12:08And the C's, one of the legit title contenders in the NBA, and a former Celtic will get a start
12:14tonight.
12:15Christoph Porzingis fresh off that 30-point performance against Washington.
12:20And the Dubs with a monster challenge.
12:22I love what you said, Kalena.
12:23This is the rocket game.
12:25This is the Denver game.
12:26See how long you can hang in there.
12:28Yes, embrace the challenge.
12:31See if you can put your best foot forward.
12:33Big challenge for Porzingis against his former team because they know him so well.
12:38This Celtics team, they are impressive.
12:40Top five on both sides of the floor.
12:43Offense, defense, one of only two teams there.
12:45Rebounding is going to be important.
12:47All the threes that are going to be shot.
12:49Both teams rely on the three-ball a ton.
12:51Got to rebound those long rebounds.
12:52Defensive rebound.
12:53Pick and roll defense.
12:54They run a ton of pick and roll.
12:55Inside attack.
12:56Throw it to Christoph's in there.
12:58You might get some isos.
12:59Never miss an opportunity to drive.
13:00But it will be tougher to score inside this game.
13:03Brandon Pajemski.
13:04D'Anthony Melton with Guy Santos.
13:06Draymond and Porzingis.
13:08Into Guy inside.
13:10And you see Keita challenging shots.
13:12There's a reason Boston is so good with their points in the paint defense.
13:17Derek White, Jalen Brown, Sam Houser.
13:19Jason Tatum and Nemius Keita.
13:22The Warriors tried to exploit that switch.
13:25They did so well.
13:26But you got the recovery there.
13:28Porzingis had two blocks.
13:29Sent Tatum and Keita away.
13:32The Warriors saying it's not going to be easy to score inside on us either.
13:35And then Porzingis running the floor.
13:37Perfect.
13:38He was fouled.
13:38That is a great sequence to set the tone for Porzingis.
13:43We're different now because I'm here.
13:46That's what Porzingis is saying.
13:47Keita thought he had an easy one.
13:49And Porzingis with that length going straight up.
13:52See how he kept his verticality without fouling?
13:55Timed that so perfectly.
13:56And then ran the floor after you make those great defensive plays.
14:00It's like, I'm going to ward myself, run the floor.
14:02And everybody on the Warriors is like, let this man eat.
14:04He deserves it.
14:04He missed the first free throw.
14:05So Porzingis, 13 of 14 from the line against Washington.
14:10And every time you talk to him, he gets into, I'm feeling great.
14:15I love fitting in.
14:16I like the personalities on the team.
14:18And it's like, the Warriors have been waiting for a big guy with talent for a long time.
14:22But what can he not do?
14:23We saw him dominate ISO game, dominate against Smalls, the back-to-the-basket game,
14:27pivot game, touch inside.
14:29And he runs like a gazelle.
14:31Come on now.
14:32Ben Taylor, 10-minus Petritus with Jonathan Sterling.
14:35Blowing the whistles.
14:36Hauser, good three-point shooter.
14:39He saw Draymond, smart play, just batted it to Pujemski.
14:43These teams will take more threes, two of the top three in the league.
14:47And Porzingis, okay, free throws are too short.
14:49They'll just hit a three instead.
14:51And he has set the tone.
14:52Cato was so far off of him.
14:54Porzingis is like, bro, you know me.
14:56You know him.
14:56You know better.
14:57And Pujemski with a beautiful steal took it away from Cato.
15:04Porzingis again.
15:07Kristaps kind of running back thinking, hey, I had that one.
15:10Well, it was a good idea because drilling against White probably wasn't a great idea.
15:13He fell over.
15:14He's like, okay, open shot.
15:15So who drives the most in the NBA?
15:17That gentleman, Jalen Brown.
15:19Yeah.
15:2019 drives a game.
15:22When before in his career, he never got to over 13 drives a game.
15:26So it's a big departure from his past.
15:28But they're relying on him more.
15:30He's like, I got to be consistent.
15:31This is the best way to do it.
15:35Draymond from deep.
15:36So Draymond Green with a three.
15:39Anthony Melton, you got to give him credit because he set that pin in screen.
15:42He's not going to get credit for that.
15:44They didn't want to close out to Draymond.
15:45He made it even tougher.
15:47You look at the last 10 in Boston allowing 102 points a game.
15:52That is far and away the best in the NBA.
15:54They allow only 107 as average.
15:57But from Feb 1, they're the best team in the league defensively.
16:00Jalen Brown will draw a foul.
16:02And we say they're so good defensively it's going to be tough to score inside
16:05because they're number one in the league opponent points in the paint.
16:08Joe Mazzula.
16:09The one area where they can give a little defensively is opponent three-point shooting.
16:14And they're kind of a little below average there.
16:17But I think that's by design.
16:18They'd rather make it tough to score inside, no easy buckets,
16:22give up a few corner threes here or there, just close out kind of secondarily.
16:26Because of that, teams make and shoot the fifth most threes against this team
16:31because they know, okay, it's going to be tough to score inside.
16:33But Jalen Brown, like, he's having the year.
16:36Everybody's been relying on this team, and he's been answering the bell.
16:39You mentioned St. Patrick's Day.
16:41He was actually – he participated in the Boston St. Patrick's Day parade.
16:45He was on one of the floats.
16:47Did you see me in that parade as well?
16:49No, I didn't.
16:50I wasn't looking for you.
16:51Jack Sparrow was there.
16:53I was right behind him.
16:55Okay, got it.
16:55You got it.
16:56Irish guy in Boston and St. Patrick's Day?
16:58Come on, man.
17:03Warriors with a couple threes and finding points.
17:06Very difficult against Boston.
17:08Melton missing that three.
17:09Porzingis kept it alive, but Derek White pushing it back.
17:15Jalen Brown, this is – where can I drive?
17:18Where can I penetrate?
17:19Five assists per game two.
17:21He doesn't just drive for himself.
17:23He can't play any better than Potenski just did.
17:25And the fact that Porzingis is there behind him, he went that direction.
17:28Porzingis is there like, okay, I've got to turn around and go the other way.
17:31Melton and open three.
17:33These are the ones, if you're going to have some incredible upset,
17:36you have to hit the ones where Celtic defenders are not near you.
17:40It's easier said than done.
17:47Tatum.
17:49298 days to come back from an Achilles injury.
17:52That's like a land speed NBA record.
17:55Well, Porzingis has dropped coverage there, and Keita set an amazing screen.
18:00He's Santos for three.
18:02For getting some looks, Porzingis the rebound.
18:05Now, Porzingis back to the line.
18:07It's the right idea.
18:08Like, you know you have to take threes.
18:10So, Porzingis is like, we're probably going to miss a good amount of these.
18:13Let's get to the offensive boards.
18:15Look at that screen.
18:15Keita, is he moving?
18:17Maybe, but they didn't call it.
18:19So, it's a Tatum three.
18:21He likes those.
18:22And this is Porzingis with the monster rebound.
18:25Made sure he had position there.
18:27He's fighting for it.
18:28They're not saying that was the act of shooting?
18:30It did look like that was the act of shooting.
18:31That's weird.
18:31Coach Kerr was up and at him with that one.
18:36Warriors are going to lay up anyway.
18:37Draymond to Guy Santos.
18:39The Warriors out-of-bounds plays have been absolutely spectacular the last couple weeks.
18:43Derek White just couldn't keep himself in between Guy Santos and the basket.
18:47That's rare.
18:48Houser out of the corner.
18:49Dropping in the three off the Tatum delivery.
18:53That's the thing.
18:54The Celtics have back another guy that's going to draw in the defense.
18:58Have the attention of the defense.
19:00Make them react.
19:01Tatum is that guy.
19:03Jamski on the kick out.
19:04Draymond for three.
19:05He got it.
19:06So Draymond Grains hit a couple threes.
19:08Kate is like, okay, wait a minute.
19:10I'm not closing out to this guy.
19:12Do I change that?
19:12They're probably not going to.
19:13But Draymond does have to shoot some of those.
19:16Maybe that will loosen up the defense.
19:17Maybe they get a little closer.
19:18He can drive the next one.
19:20Brown had that triple-double against the Warriors in Chase Center.
19:22Derek White.
19:23Steve Kerr loved him on the Olympic team.
19:27Just a do-everything type of player.
19:29One of the best winning players in the league.
19:31Good way to say that.
19:33Those things that help you win.
19:34Pajamski rimming out that three.
19:37Keita knocked it out of bounds.
19:38That's still Warrior ball.
19:39Did you see that all-world contest with Jason Tatum?
19:42This is how you know that Achilles is working okay.
19:46And it was a help in the cover, too.
19:47He was initially on him.
19:49He was kind of cheating off and got back.
19:50So he can cheat off a little more than maybe other guys can because of that length.
19:55And since he's been back, they've been better.
19:57Like, last time we played this team, February 19th, they were 9th defensively.
20:02Now they're 5th.
20:03Last time we played this team, they're kind of struggling with their defensive rebounding.
20:06Now they're up to 7th there.
20:08They're like 18th or 19th defensive rebounding last time.
20:11Maymont kind of a heat-check three.
20:13Missed that short.
20:14But this is how long can you hang in the game.
20:17That's what the story is.
20:18This Tatum, after the high screen, hits a three.
20:24And you said it, you know, kind of matter-of-factly.
20:27We just need to keep reiterating.
20:29There's two teams in the league.
20:31Is Graymon unable to finish that?
20:32But a good take inside.
20:33Two teams that are top five offensive defense.
20:36GP2 to the steal.
20:38And it's the Spurs and the Celtics.
20:41And Melton's burying the three off the Peyton Steele.
20:44You've got to get super scrappy with it.
20:46You're one of the best steals teams in the league.
20:48You're one of the best opponent turnover teams in the league.
20:50You've got to use that against this team.
20:51It's going to be rare because they take care of the ball better than anybody else
20:53as Jason Tatum finally misses a three.
20:57That's the thing.
20:57It won't be Warrior missed shots.
20:59It's just getting shots up.
21:01Borzingis missing that three.
21:03That last possession where Draymond went tornado move and tried to finish inside.
21:07I love him being that aggressive and getting to a little more of his game sometimes.
21:11And Jalen Brown banging that home.
21:14Derrick White finding him perfectly.
21:16He's being guarded by Borzingis.
21:18So instead of getting the ball and trying to attack with a dribble,
21:21use your quickness and go back door.
21:22It was tough for Borzingis to stay with.
21:24That one deflected away.
21:26You see Boston creates turnovers.
21:28Kalena mentioned it.
21:29They only commit 11 turnovers a game.
21:32Fewest in the NBA.
21:36Tatum and look at Borzingis move his feet.
21:38Jalen Brown hitting a three.
21:41Yeah, you're helping off on the weak side.
21:43You kind of had to rotate over there.
21:45You reacted to Jason Tatum's threatening drive.
21:47But it is a six-point game.
21:49Okay start, but Celtics starting to make their move.
21:51Robert Parrish in the building.
21:53His book, The Chief, is out.
21:56And part of the greatest trade in NBA history for Boston,
22:01Kevin McHale in Paris for Joe Barry Carroll solidified a dynasty in Boston.
22:08Our BMW ultimate performer, 298 days.
22:12And Jason Tatum was back from a torn Achilles.
22:15And at 15, 12, and 7.
22:18And it just kind of gave you goosebumps, Wild.
22:21You think of an ACL like a Jimmy Butler.
22:23You think of an Achilles like Kevin Durant.
22:25But Kyrie Irving, these guys, oh, it's a full year plus.
22:29No, it's 10 months and he was back playing in an NBA game.
22:33It's wild.
22:34Other players are going, okay, you can come back this soon from an Achilles injury.
22:38And his minutes restriction is already up.
22:40He played 32 minutes in their last game against the Suns.
22:44He's averaging 20 points.
22:46Shooting percentages are going to come up.
22:47But he's just getting more and more comfortable from a legendary double zero,
22:52number double zero, Robert Parrish, to a legendary zero.
22:55Quinton Post checking in.
22:57Had a great game against the Knicks.
22:59Melton missing off front iron.
23:01It's been a struggle from three-point range early.
23:03That's not what the Warriors would like to see.
23:05Peyton Pritchard, who's a great three-point shooter, setting up Tatum.
23:08Rocks into a wing three.
23:10They're getting creative with their offense.
23:12That's a flare screen.
23:14And Jason Tatum, the defender, got screened just enough.
23:17And it's a high release point if you're late at all.
23:19He's going to get that off.
23:20And Boston, five of seven on threes.
23:25Raymond didn't settle there and got Pat Spencer a better shot.
23:28But you have to hit those.
23:29I mean, to beat Boston, the open ones have to go.
23:33Because the contested ones are a problem already.
23:35And they turn it over as Peyton Pritchard couldn't handle that.
23:38Bro, those are so rare.
23:40They have three turnovers.
23:41That's high for them in the first quarter.
23:43Well, they think of only 11 per game.
23:45Yeah, 100% right.
23:46Yeah, I mean, that was just a pass.
23:48That was unforced.
23:49It is a dead ball turnover there.
23:51You're not going to see them having a ton of live ball turnovers.
23:56Baylor-Shireman checks in.
23:58Two years at Creighton.
24:00Draymond off iron there.
24:01And the Warriors have pulled off considerably.
24:03Five of 17 shooting.
24:05Saw how far away Keita was from that Draymond three.
24:09At some point, he's going to eat up that real estate,
24:11get to the rest of his game.
24:12We saw him go tornado moves.
24:14So you've shown us.
24:16Baylor-Brown, think about that.
24:1719 drives a game.
24:19Melton played him well, but he's that good.
24:21So Brown and Tatum are rolling.
24:2411 for Brown, 9 for Tatum early.
24:26They go ISO a good amount.
24:28And one of the reasons is because their spacing is so good.
24:32Warriors just dying for a basket right now.
24:34Well, some way, somehow, slow this roll for the Celtics.
24:39Jason Tatum and Pat Spencer, what a great contest.
24:46Warrior energy level is really good.
24:48But they're running into a buzzsaw first quarter for the guys in green.
24:55Melton, working on Shireman.
24:57That's what D'Anthony did all game against Washington.
24:59That just wouldn't stay down.
25:01Extra opportunity, Pat Spencer for three, and he got it.
25:04And credit to Anthony Melton.
25:05Okay, the shot didn't go.
25:06He went and got the rebound and made something out of nothing.
25:09Well, I love that he told Quinton Post to move out of there
25:11so he can go ISO and drive in there.
25:13It was a great attempt.
25:14Warriors got it back.
25:15They're hitting the offensive glass.
25:16And you kick it out.
25:17Finally, Pat Spencer hits a three.
25:20Hayden doesn't look for his own offense very often.
25:22He stepped through, and great job by Quinton Post.
25:26You saw how much space he had to work with in there.
25:28It's all up to Quinton Post, and he did an amazing job.
25:31Pat Spencer hit one three.
25:33Not going to settle for that one.
25:34Quinton Post, an open look.
25:36Off back iron.
25:37The Warriors have had really good looks from deep.
25:40You don't mind any of them they've pulled so far, but only 5 of 15.
25:45Inland Brown right to the rim.
25:46That's body control.
25:47He just let GP2 overrun the play.
25:51And that's the drives we're talking about.
25:54They're smart drives.
25:54He's never out of control.
25:58Ramon, the pump fake.
26:00The drop-off inside, but there's Kato.
26:02GP2 couldn't go back up.
26:04They're privy to the little big man's ways.
26:08Clock at 5.
26:09Warriors have nothing going.
26:11Pat Spencer over Critcher.
26:13GP2 over Kato to tip that home.
26:16Yeah, scratch your head.
26:16It's worth it.
26:17Go ahead and scratch your head.
26:18It was a little bit iffy there, the dunk, but he got a running start.
26:22Kato just turned around as soon as his shot went up.
26:24So GP2 just climbed up his back.
26:27Skip pass out to Shireman.
26:29That's long and strong.
26:30Jalen Brown in for the rebound.
26:33Mayton Pritchard for three.
26:35Those are the backbreakers.
26:36Well, I said it.
26:37They're the fifth best offensive rebounding team in the league.
26:40Offensive rebounding percentage.
26:41And they're not a bad shooting team.
26:43They're one of the best shooting teams.
26:44Tenth in three-point shooting percentage, but they go get a lot of them.
26:47Warriors trying to respond with Peyton missing that three.
26:50You can see it's contagious.
26:52Everybody in green feels good shooting threes so far.
26:56Open six of ten.
27:02Payton right down the lane.
27:04Posted tall.
27:05GP2 batted into post.
27:07Every stop feels like you won something right there.
27:11Running it back.
27:12Draymond couldn't get the angle.
27:13Gary Payton.
27:14He had the D and the rebound.
27:16And 94 feet later, he guides it home.
27:19But the fact that Draymond was aggressive to score, even though he missed, gave his teammates a chance.
27:24Within nine, the Celtics playing an A++ game.
27:29All in NBC Sports Bay Area is brought to you by the Bay Area BMW Centers.
27:33And a look inside the Warrior locker room of Steph Curry presented the game ball for win number 600 in
27:40Steve Kerr's career postgame in Washington.
27:44And Steve doesn't show a lot of emotion sometimes.
27:47He was genuinely touched by that moment.
27:51And it put him in history because when you think of the fastest of 600 wins, our Kia player profile,
27:58the best coaches of all time, Phil, Pat Riley, Pop, Steve Kerr, and Red Auerbach in terms of games to
28:06get to 600.
28:07That's 34 NBA titles on that graphic.
28:11That's a legendary list there.
28:13Congrats to Coach Kerr.
28:14Amazing accomplishment.
28:16I love that Steph and the rest of the Warriors recognize it.
28:19He was so complimentary to the Celtics team.
28:23He's like, they're the best spacing team in the league.
28:25Look at the Warriors double-teaming them.
28:27That's one of the reasons they don't turn it over.
28:29That's one of the reasons they can go ISO and guys can attack off the dribble.
28:32Sometimes it seems like guys are starting at the half court line just to give people space.
28:36Luka Garza and Hugo Gonzalez checking in for Boston.
28:40Jalen Brown, he developed a lot of confidence against the Warriors in that game at Chase with a triple-double.
28:46And he's got Pajemski on him, a small defender.
28:47But you saw the space I was talking about.
28:49Everybody's outside the three-point line.
28:51Sometimes guys are moving, so everybody else is occupied.
28:53He's Santos for three.
28:55Off-fire there.
28:56Garza with the rebound.
28:57Garza, four-year college player.
28:59They've been with Minnesota.
29:03Jalen Brown is just a different player this year.
29:06Everything in the paint.
29:08He's seven of eight and has 17 in the first quarter.
29:12And then a little swaggy backpedal afterwards.
29:14You can tell how comfortable he is.
29:15That little fadeaway Jordan jumper.
29:21Warriors can go two for one to end the quarter here.
29:25Quinton Poe, shot clock at seven.
29:27A little show-and-go.
29:28Took his time and a nice finish on the baseline.
29:30Any chance you get to drive, you've got to pounce on it.
29:33Like Quinton Poe's did there.
29:35Show-and-go.
29:35So it's all the way up on the perimeter.
29:38Peyton Pritchard, if he had hit it after that move, start the bus and fly to Detroit.
29:42I know, right?
29:43Look at Quinton Poe's working to get the defensive rebound.
29:46I mean, that's what you need.
29:47That's the kind of fight you need.
29:49That's how you have to scrap it.
29:50Just stay within striking distance.
29:51Small defender on him.
29:53Pojemski, he's going to drive in there from the elbow.
29:55This is what he does.
29:57And then you come off the ball screen, kind of take your time.
29:59You know you have the space.
30:00They're always going to have the space with this team.
30:02Boston's fourth team foul.
30:05Close back out to Will Richard.
30:07A good look from three.
30:08Will off back iron there and Garza with the rebound.
30:12That's the other thing with Boston's great defense.
30:14They don't foul.
30:14They don't put you on the line very often.
30:18This has been nearly a perfect quarter for the Celtics.
30:2154% shooting, 6 of 11.
30:24And then how about Jalen Brown with 19 on 8 of 9 shooting.
30:30Well, a lesser player would panic after they lose it.
30:33As the quarter comes to an end, the heave is no good.
30:36But he's just poised under pressure.
30:38No panic at all.
30:39So you're at summer camp.
30:41You're about seven years old.
30:42Hey, Kalena, I'm throwing you at the deep end of the pool.
30:45That's what it's like playing the Celtics.
30:47And I can't swim.
30:48Oh, man.
30:49Is this the best team or the hottest team in the NBA?
30:52Through 12 minutes, it sure looks like it.
30:54Catch!
30:57Catch!
30:57Catch!
30:58Catch!
30:58Catch!
30:58Catch!

31:05Bacon Ate late.
31:06Get up with Wendy's for a Bacon Ate are made fresh for you, open until midnight or later.
31:11And they have the tribute video for Christoph Sporzingis, 99 games as a Celtic, a world championship.
31:17Average 20 a game and very popular still here in Boston.
31:22That was really well done.
31:23They definitely appreciate him.
