Just eleven months after Kevin Keegan's Newcastle suffered a season damaging 4-3 defeat at the hands of Liverpool, manager Kenny Dalglish takes the Magpies back to Anfield for this season's encounter. Another classic game followed.

00:00:00As well as the most potent attack, so not surprisingly tonight, it's an unchanged side from the one that started
00:00:05Sunday's FA Cup semi-final win over Aston Villa.
00:00:08Neil Ruddock has come through a late fitness test on a knee injury to resume at the back.
00:00:13So Jamie Redknapp's return continues in midfield after making his first start since November on Sunday.
00:00:19He's again preferred to Michael Thomas.
00:00:21It's the same formation, three central defenders with two wing-backs, two in midfield.
00:00:26And then Steve McManaman operating in his roving role in support of the two front players, Stan Collymore and 33
00:00:32-goal Robbie Fowler.
00:00:36Decisions, decisions, who to leave in, who to leave out.
00:00:38Kevin Keegan's recent team selections and his options for tonight have become almost a question of national debate.
00:00:44His main dilemma really concerned Fastino Aspria.
00:00:47And Keegan has kept faith with his electrifying but unpredictable Colombian star.
00:00:52Indeed, there's only one change from the recent first-choice line-up.
00:00:55Steve Watson replacing Warren Barton at right-back.
00:00:58So it's the usual 4-4-2 system that Keegan prefers these days.
00:01:03Aspria in tandem with Les Ferdinand up front, Peter Beersley, Robert Lee and Davi Ginola at the task of supplying
00:01:10the ammunition.
00:01:15It's the latest installment then in this dramatic championship finale.
00:01:19Liverpool have lost only once at home in the league this season.
00:01:22Newcastle lately have been struggling away.
00:01:25But Keegan's side are adamant that the pressure isn't getting to them.
00:01:30Well, let's have a look at the remaining fixtures now for the three clubs involved in the championship run-in.
00:01:39Newcastle then still have to go to Blackburn, home to Aston Villa.
00:01:43Away to Nottingham Forest and they wind up there at home to Tottenham.
00:01:47Manchester United have the Manchester Derby at Main Road on Saturday.
00:01:51And look at their last fixture there.
00:01:53Away to Middlesbrough, Ryan Robson's team.
00:01:56Liverpool, Coventry away, West Ham at home there.
00:01:59The Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.
00:02:02Everton the only league side to have won at Atfield this season.
00:02:06Middlesbrough at home, Arsenal away and then Manchester City to wind up their fixtures.
00:02:14Well, it's the firm belief of Kevin Keegan and his number two, Terry McDermott,
00:02:19that this Newcastle side is the finest club I've ever had.
00:02:22They've certainly pursued the title in cavalier fashion.
00:02:25But a round of only one win in the last five now, including three defeats,
00:02:30suggests they have hit a sticky patch.
00:02:35For Liverpool, of course, the double is still on.
00:02:38Their dismissal of Aston Villa at Sunday's FA Cup semi-final.
00:02:43Inspired by a double strike from Robbie Fowler,
00:02:46their man very much in form,
00:02:47has taken them through to a Wembley showdown with Manchester United.
00:02:51And they'll be straining every sinew tonight
00:02:54to keep alive their championship aspirations as well.
00:03:00Tonight's referee is Mike Reid from Birmingham.
00:03:04We had a check on the teams a moment or so ago.
00:03:07On the sub-bench night, Ian Rush, Steve Harkness
00:03:09and reserve goalkeeper Tony Warner for Liverpool.
00:03:12It was for Newcastle.
00:03:14Darren Peacock, who's lost his place in the team at the moment.
00:03:17Lee Clarke, he's been out since the arrival of David Batty.
00:03:20And Keith Gillespie, who can't get back in the team
00:03:23because, of course, of Fastino Asprea.
00:03:26A lot of speculation tonight
00:03:28that Hegan might have returned to the system
00:03:31that had operated so well for him earlier in the season
00:03:33with two players wide on the flank,
00:03:35Gillespie on the right, Ginole on the left.
00:03:37But he's resisted that temptation
00:03:41to keep faith with Asprea.
00:03:44Mike Reid, then, the man in charge tonight.
00:03:50And we're all set for what should be a cracking match.
00:04:01As Ferdinand has been talking in recent times
00:04:04about his partnership with Asprea
00:04:06and the fact that it hasn't really glossed up so far,
00:04:08but Keegan believes it can work
00:04:11and he believes that Asprea is the man
00:04:12who can win them the title.
00:04:13Many people are saying
00:04:15he's the man that's going to lose them the championship.
00:04:17Opinions clearly differ.
00:04:19but Kevin Keegan is standing by his man.
00:04:22I think Ferdinand's view is
00:04:23that he's so hard to read, really, Asprea.
00:04:27Such a flamboyant player,
00:04:29you don't quite know what he's going to do next.
00:04:32David Batty there, just behind them.
00:04:35A championship winner, of course, with Leeds
00:04:37and also with Blackburn last season,
00:04:38although he has just revealed
00:04:39that he didn't pick up his winner's medal.
00:04:41He played only four times,
00:04:43or five, in fact, including a Sam's appearance
00:04:45for Blackburn at the end of last season
00:04:47and he didn't feel that Warren hit a medal.
00:04:51Here's John Scales.
00:04:54But if I get one now with Newcastle,
00:04:56he said,
00:04:56I shall certainly cherish it.
00:05:00Asprea, well, what can we anticipate
00:05:01from him tonight?
00:05:03Biersley with a throw.
00:05:06He doesn't look comfortable
00:05:07playing wide on the right feet of Biersley.
00:05:10And Keegan will want him to influence
00:05:13the proceedings rather more
00:05:14than he has done in recent games.
00:05:24Albert and Howie have both come up
00:05:26from the back for the corner kick.
00:05:27Taken by Biersley.
00:05:29It's ricocheted wide.
00:05:31But the referee has ruled in favour of Liverpool.
00:05:36Mark Wright, who's done such a sturdy job
00:05:38at the back for Liverpool this season.
00:05:40Have he been out of favour, of course,
00:05:42during the last campaign.
00:05:43He's missed only seven games
00:05:45during this term.
00:05:47Indeed, he's back at favour too
00:05:49with England.
00:05:52David James, who pulled off
00:05:53some steric saves
00:05:54in the semi-final win
00:05:56over Aston Villa.
00:06:03Off goes Fowler.
00:06:05The man of the moment for Liverpool.
00:06:0733 goals this season.
00:06:10On by Jones.
00:06:12Now Climor.
00:06:13The goal for straight back
00:06:14is cross.
00:06:15It's a goal!
00:06:17Ronnie Fowler!
00:06:18What a start for Liverpool!
00:06:22Liverpool!
00:06:23The goal in the second minute!
00:06:27Cernacek had no answer there.
00:06:29It was a great cross by Collimor.
00:06:31Drew out the goalkeeper.
00:06:37Knocked on here by Jones.
00:06:41Collimor away from Watson.
00:06:43And you can see there
00:06:44Cernacek in two lines.
00:06:45But Fowler certainly wasn't.
00:06:49who really is an incredible
00:06:51predator around that six-yard box.
00:06:53Great work here by Collimor.
00:06:57The Anfield crowd
00:06:58were on their feet there.
00:07:00And Fowler steered it in.
00:07:09Derrisford to pump it forward
00:07:10for Newcastle.
00:07:11A stunning blow
00:07:12for Keegan's team.
00:07:18Robbie Fowler's
00:07:19in such irresistible form
00:07:21at the moment.
00:07:22Form that Terry Vanneval
00:07:23certainly couldn't ignore.
00:07:24He won his first
00:07:25count of course
00:07:26as a substitute
00:07:26against Bulgaria
00:07:27last week.
00:07:29And I'm sure
00:07:30we're going to see him
00:07:31in some guys
00:07:32in Euro 96.
00:07:38What a shot card
00:07:39to have up your sleeve.
00:07:41Albert, the Belgian.
00:07:45on by Vance.
00:07:46Here's Collimor.
00:07:48The manager who
00:07:48laid on the goal.
00:07:53The combination
00:07:54between Fowler
00:07:55and Collimor
00:07:56has been blossoming
00:07:57throughout
00:07:58the past few months.
00:08:00Bit of a shaky start
00:08:01by Collimor
00:08:01but once he'd settled in
00:08:03settled into the way
00:08:04that Liverpool play
00:08:04thinks
00:08:05he's looked
00:08:06an exceptional player
00:08:07as well as Fowler.
00:08:10Ginola.
00:08:12He has the lead.
00:08:16Astrid has got
00:08:16through the sector.
00:08:18On by Batty.
00:08:24Albert.
00:08:27Well it's not in
00:08:28Kevin Keegan's nature
00:08:29to settle for a point.
00:08:30There have been any doubt
00:08:32about how they would
00:08:32approach this Kane tonight.
00:08:33That's gone now.
00:08:34They will certainly
00:08:35have to attack.
00:08:40I don't think
00:08:40they'd be too
00:08:41dissatisfied with a point
00:08:42but
00:08:43certainly a defeat
00:08:44would be out of
00:08:45the question for them.
00:08:47They will want
00:08:48something from this game.
00:08:51Whereas Roy Evans
00:08:51concedes
00:08:52if Liverpool don't win
00:08:54they are as good
00:08:54as out of the
00:08:55championship race.
00:08:56Well they've
00:08:56got off to a
00:08:57pulsating start.
00:08:58Here's Ferdinand now.
00:09:00Good effort too
00:09:01and well held
00:09:01by David James.
00:09:05Cristino Asprea
00:09:07Ugarte's form has
00:09:08certainly dipped
00:09:08since his arrival.
00:09:12Although he has
00:09:13himself provided
00:09:13some wonderful moments.
00:09:15He's no doubt
00:09:15about his skill
00:09:18but it's his ability
00:09:19to fit into a team
00:09:20pattern really
00:09:20that's under-screwed in it.
00:09:26He's been away with
00:09:27the Colombian
00:09:27national team
00:09:28Asprea
00:09:31even then
00:09:32he was unpeded
00:09:32because he turned
00:09:33up late.
00:09:43Asprea
00:09:43has got through here
00:09:46Ferdinand
00:09:471-1
00:09:5110 minutes gone
00:09:54and Asprea
00:09:54has set up the goal
00:09:55for Liz Ferdinand
00:10:00well there's your
00:10:01answer
00:10:02those who are
00:10:03doubting at the two
00:10:04can work together
00:10:04some great skill
00:10:05here by Asprea
00:10:06and he had
00:10:07the trends of mind
00:10:08to pick out
00:10:09Ferdinand
00:10:10and it was a really
00:10:11sharp finish
00:10:13from the England
00:10:13striker
00:10:16on target for England
00:10:17last week
00:10:17and now
00:10:18for Newcastle
00:10:21and he's brought
00:10:21his team back
00:10:22level
00:10:26Liverpool
00:10:27one
00:10:27Newcastle

00:10:3127
00:10:31for Liz
00:10:32Ferdinand
00:10:33this season
00:10:34and what a contrast
00:10:36now
00:10:36in the faces
00:10:37of those
00:10:38Newcastle fans
00:10:44and Ferdinand
00:10:45has now
00:10:46beaten his
00:10:47tally
00:10:47in all competitions
00:10:48with QPR
00:10:49last season
00:10:55no problem there
00:10:56for Pavel
00:10:58Sieracek
00:10:59up right
00:11:00with the header
00:11:02but all credit
00:11:03to Newcastle
00:11:04for the way
00:11:04they've responded
00:11:05here
00:11:05they've come back
00:11:06in such determined
00:11:07fashion
00:11:08and they have
00:11:08their reward
00:11:12Asprea
00:11:12whose art history
00:11:13laid off the goal
00:11:18Connemore
00:11:20forward by Watson
00:11:23header by Rada
00:11:24and then off
00:11:25Batty
00:11:27and Harry
00:11:28had to get in
00:11:29quickly there
00:11:30Vernon
00:11:30was doing
00:11:31impeded
00:11:31he's got no
00:11:33sympathy from
00:11:33referee Mike
00:11:34Reid
00:11:35the pace
00:11:36remains
00:11:37unrelenting
00:11:39McManaman

00:11:43three central
00:11:43defenders
00:11:45Phil Babb
00:11:46is still out
00:11:46injured by the
00:11:47way
00:11:50Steve Harkness
00:11:51would have

00:12:17from Watson
00:12:19James came

00:12:32looking to drive
00:12:33Newcastle on

00:12:41tonight
00:12:42here's Gino Leu

00:12:51as well
00:12:51but
00:12:53Ferdinand

00:12:57Rock Jones
00:12:58for Liverpool
00:13:03this has the
00:13:04makings of
00:13:04an extraordinary
00:13:05game
00:13:08Beardsley
00:13:10trying to tuck
00:13:10it through
00:13:11then to Asprea

00:13:12toddling to the
00:13:12ground
00:13:13after crashing
00:13:14I think with
00:13:14Ruddock
00:13:17I don't know
00:13:18what he's saying
00:13:18but he's not
00:13:19happy
00:13:23can't be a very
00:13:24emotional
00:13:24Claire
00:13:24a volatile one
00:13:28Ferdinand
00:13:29the persistence

00:13:39to get there
00:13:39anyway
00:13:39he was still
00:13:40suffering
00:13:40I think

00:15:18Jamie Redneck
00:15:24but he's up
00:15:25for this one
00:15:25tonight
00:15:25is Peter Beardsley
00:15:28it would mean
00:15:29so much for him
00:15:30if Newcastle
00:15:31can't go on
00:15:32to win the title
00:15:34the second spell
00:15:35of course
00:15:36with the clock
00:15:36Conley Moore
00:15:37didn't make contact
00:15:37as Fowler did
00:15:41his speed
00:15:41of thought
00:15:42was simply
00:15:43electrifying
00:15:47the inviting cross
00:15:48curled over
00:15:49by Redneck
00:15:51and how tickling
00:15:52he changed feet
00:15:52then Fowler
00:15:55but it was a
00:15:55glorious chance
00:15:56squandered really
00:15:57by Liverpool
00:15:57McManaman's header
00:15:58where he felt
00:15:59maybe he should have
00:16:00had a header at goal
00:16:01rather than
00:16:01trying to set up
00:16:03Fowler
00:16:04we'll see it again
00:16:04in the moment
00:16:05I'm sure on the replay
00:16:07but nobody had
00:16:07picked up McManaman
00:16:08in that 18 yard box
00:16:10and in the end
00:16:11Cernerchak
00:16:11didn't even have
00:16:12to make a save
00:16:16McManaman's header
00:16:17which flew
00:16:18wide of the goal
00:16:23and then to defend
00:16:24it back on the line
00:16:27Fowler's let it go
00:16:28this is Redneck
00:16:31just over the top
00:16:36but a resounding
00:16:36finish to the half
00:16:37from Liverpool
00:16:40decoy run there
00:16:41by Fowler
00:16:43that would have
00:16:44called into the top
00:16:45corner
00:16:47but here's the
00:16:47moment again
00:16:50when McManaman
00:16:51arrived in the middle
00:16:52you can see he's
00:16:52totally unmarked here
00:16:56he's trying to pick
00:16:56out Fowler
00:16:59the more selfish
00:17:01striker would have
00:17:01got the goal there
00:17:04Collymore
00:17:05couldn't force his
00:17:06way through
00:17:08Payence as
00:17:08referee Mike
00:17:09Reid
00:17:11Daffy
00:17:11driven up towards
00:17:13Asprea
00:17:13now Gene Ola
00:17:15and Beersley
00:17:16is onside
00:17:20James
00:17:20had to come
00:17:21hurling out
00:17:22to deny him
00:17:23he was alive to the
00:17:23danger then
00:17:24David James
00:17:25Barnes
00:17:26on for a redneck
00:17:28rather
00:17:29now it's McManaman
00:17:32Barnes again
00:17:40there's the
00:17:41half-time whistle
00:17:42and it's been a
00:17:43breathtaking first
00:17:4445 minutes
00:17:45Bobby Ginala
00:17:46with a second goal
00:17:47for Newcastle
00:17:48after Les Ferdinand
00:17:49had equalised
00:17:50the early strike
00:17:51from Robbie Fowler
00:17:53it's been an
00:17:54exhibition relief
00:17:55attacking football
00:17:56from both teams
00:17:57Fowler with that goal
00:17:58inside the first
00:17:59three minutes
00:17:59his 34th of the season
00:18:01a great start
00:18:02for Liverpool
00:18:03but all credit
00:18:04to Newcastle
00:18:04for the way
00:18:05that they responded
00:18:06and it's all set up
00:18:07here for a splendid
00:18:09second half
00:18:09so stay with us
00:18:10the half-time score
00:18:11at Anfield
00:18:12is Liverpool 1
00:18:14Newcastle 2
00:18:14as a path to goal
00:18:16opened up for Rob Lee
00:18:18and no one from Liverpool
00:18:19apart from James
00:18:20could get to him
00:18:21in time
00:18:23McAteer
00:18:24a let-off for Liverpool
00:18:25right at the start
00:18:26of his second half
00:18:27Redmatch
00:18:30he's not afraid
00:18:31to shoot from Rob
00:18:32range as he's
00:18:33demonstrated so ably
00:18:35over the past
00:18:35couple of seasons
00:18:36but here was the
00:18:37moment when Lee
00:18:39rode the tackle
00:18:40and couldn't beat
00:18:41James
00:18:41who just narrowed
00:18:42the angle sufficiently
00:18:43then
00:18:43didn't give him
00:18:44too much to weigh
00:18:45back
00:18:46and he was unable
00:18:47to smuddle the ball
00:18:48as Lee threatened
00:18:49again
00:18:51makes that goal
00:18:52keeping by David
00:18:53James
00:18:56he follows in
00:18:57an outline of
00:18:57outstanding goalkeeper
00:18:59of course
00:18:59at Anfield
00:19:02Bruce Robillard
00:19:02the last of them
00:19:04it's Albert
00:19:05with the tackle
00:19:06on McAteer
00:19:17Keegan
00:19:17really has his team
00:19:18fired up for this
00:19:19match tonight
00:19:21they've taken some
00:19:22knocks from the
00:19:22critics in recent times
00:19:26and they've done it
00:19:28in style tonight
00:19:29here's Ginola
00:19:31has ever played
00:19:32with so much
00:19:32flair up for Nash
00:19:37Lee turning sharply
00:19:38as Breuer
00:19:42he's in the centre
00:19:44trying to hold him off
00:19:45but he hasn't succeeded
00:19:47Lee in the centre
00:19:48McAteer to clear
00:19:56he's had his best game
00:19:57for some time
00:19:59and out
00:19:59about the man's talent
00:20:01but his format
00:20:02just waved a little
00:20:03in recent games
00:20:05Keegan
00:20:05has stood by him
00:20:09with his skill
00:20:10and ability
00:20:11to take players on
00:20:13and certainly to score
00:20:14goals too
00:20:14as he's reminded us
00:20:15tonight
00:20:16that's Collymore
00:20:16great ball through
00:20:18McManaman now
00:20:20Fowler in the centre
00:20:25Sernicek forced him
00:20:26to conceding the corner
00:20:32terrific pass
00:20:33set by Collymore
00:20:34spotting the run
00:20:35of McManaman
00:20:37can't really see
00:20:38Fowler in the picture
00:20:39there
00:20:39but he was
00:20:40in the 18-yard box
00:20:41if McManaman could have
00:20:42pulled it back
00:20:44Redknapp
00:20:45with a corner kick
00:20:47Ronak is up there
00:20:51McManaman
00:20:51priming it through
00:20:53Sernicek save
00:21:00Liverpool in the top
00:21:01here again now
00:21:02Rock Jones
00:21:04way from Biersley
00:21:05this is Barnes
00:21:08McManaman
00:21:09reveling in this
00:21:10free roll again
00:21:14support from Barnes
00:21:15Fowler
00:21:17directly touched it
00:21:18by Robbie Fowler
00:21:21unfortunately for Newcastle
00:21:22Alvaire was there
00:21:24and he is so sharp
00:21:25Robbie Fowler
00:21:32Ronak has cut forward
00:21:33and also it was a free
00:21:34header at the end
00:21:35for John Scales
00:21:36the market
00:21:37the market was very sloppy
00:21:38there from Newcastle
00:21:40and Scales
00:21:41will feel he should have
00:21:41done better
00:21:42as his expression suggests
00:21:47not sure if Sernicek got
00:21:48the ball there
00:21:53and it's a goal kick
00:21:58relief for Newcastle
00:22:00there was a hitter again
00:22:00from Scales
00:22:01and it's actually Fowler
00:22:03in front of Sernicek
00:22:04who makes contact with the ball
00:22:06could have gone in mind
00:22:09here's Collymore
00:22:12good defending
00:22:14Steve Watson
00:22:18plays the ball back anyway
00:22:20with a free kick
00:22:21to Newcastle
00:22:22the Lions
00:22:23was flagging
00:22:24against Collymore
00:22:32Baffi
00:22:34we're going to recover
00:22:35Ferdinand
00:22:36Gino La
00:22:37how is he going here
00:22:42past the ball
00:22:44Gino La
00:22:46and deflected it
00:22:47with a great balance
00:22:48of David James
00:22:54here's a great ball there
00:22:55here's Bacmanema
00:22:56taking on Albert
00:22:58and the shot's a goal
00:23:00Fowler
00:23:022-2
00:23:0610 minutes
00:23:07set to the second half
00:23:09and another
00:23:10flowing
00:23:11beautiful move
00:23:12has been used to go
00:23:14for Robbie Fowler
00:23:15goal scorer
00:23:16extraordinary
00:23:18look how quickly here
00:23:20he's from
00:23:21from defence to attack
00:23:22McAteer
00:23:23the other line
00:23:24terrific pass
00:23:26off goes McManaman
00:23:27Newcastle
00:23:28backpedalling here
00:23:29and Fowler
00:23:30with that
00:23:30instinctive finish
00:23:332 for Fowler
00:23:342 for Liverpool
00:23:35and it's all square again
00:23:38Liverpool 2
00:23:39Newcastle 2
00:23:42another explosive finish
00:23:44by Robbie Fowler
00:23:46goal number 55
00:23:48for him this season
00:23:4927 now
00:23:5127 now
00:23:51in the Premier
00:23:56and this
00:23:56is Premier League
00:23:58football in England
00:23:58and it's most
00:23:59endearing
00:24:00Collymore
00:24:03trying to hustle
00:24:04his way through
00:24:04still Collymore
00:24:08I think he was pushing
00:24:09Howie in the end
00:24:11but another scare
00:24:12up on Newcastle
00:24:17and he was at full
00:24:19stretch here
00:24:19but he was certainly
00:24:20tugged by Collymore
00:24:23just listen to the noise
00:24:25now around
00:24:26Latfield
00:24:27Jamie Redknapp
00:24:30releasing McManaman
00:24:31who was onside
00:24:32and Sanicek
00:24:34so quickly to
00:24:35Thwart Mdendja
00:24:39Bensley for Newcastle
00:24:41oh super little
00:24:43pass there
00:24:43here's Lee
00:24:44Asprea
00:24:45he's tied his run
00:24:46Asprea
00:24:47yes
00:24:532 goals
00:24:54in 2 minutes
00:24:56and this
00:24:58astonishing match
00:25:00has swung back
00:25:01Newcastle's way
00:25:02yet again
00:25:03Lee
00:25:03with that perfect pass
00:25:06and the finish
00:25:07from Asprea
00:25:11just waited
00:25:12for his moment
00:25:12then
00:25:12released Asprea
00:25:15and the shot
00:25:16must be on
00:25:17David James
00:25:19Liverpool
00:25:20caught cold
00:25:22so often
00:25:23teams prove
00:25:24vulnerable
00:25:24when they've just
00:25:25scored
00:25:25and that was
00:25:26the case
00:25:26yet again
00:25:27Liverpool 2
00:25:28Newcastle 3
00:25:29Faustino Asprea
00:25:33his third goal
00:25:34the Liverpool
00:25:36since has moved
00:25:36from Parma
00:25:40and this game
00:25:41is living up to
00:25:42all the expectations
00:25:45Lee
00:25:46whose great awareness
00:25:48set up the goal
00:25:49for Asprea
00:25:58the man Kevin Keegan
00:25:59feels
00:25:59can win his team
00:26:00in the championship
00:26:02has come out
00:26:03trumps again
00:26:05Beresford
00:26:06here's McAteer
00:26:07run straight into
00:26:08Batty
00:26:09with an altercation
00:26:10between the two
00:26:12and he was caught
00:26:13in the face
00:26:15but he reacted
00:26:16very angrily
00:26:17and I think
00:26:17Mike Reid
00:26:18will just want
00:26:18to cut things
00:26:19down now
00:26:21in the quarter
00:26:22but tonight
00:26:23is Anfield
00:26:29there's a bit of
00:26:30an argument there
00:26:31McAteer
00:26:32getting involved
00:26:33in a scrap
00:26:33with David
00:26:34Dabby
00:26:36which I wouldn't
00:26:37wish on anyone
00:26:45I think he's
00:26:45sorted it out
00:26:46now Mike Reid
00:26:46he's well-respected
00:26:47by the players
00:26:52looks like he's
00:26:52going to have
00:26:53a blocked ball
00:26:53here
00:26:56doesn't look too
00:26:57happy
00:26:57this is David
00:26:58Batty
00:27:06once one way
00:27:07to resolve
00:27:08the dispute
00:27:09McAteer
00:27:10and David
00:27:11Batty
00:27:11did I say
00:27:13friends again
00:27:15Albert
00:27:17Berner
00:27:18Berner
00:27:19slipping away
00:27:20from
00:27:20Rudner
00:27:23because Howie's
00:27:24fast
00:27:24too long
00:27:25for
00:27:25even
00:27:26Asprea
00:27:35Berner
00:27:36here's Neil
00:27:37Rudner
00:27:44you can't
00:27:45remember
00:27:45seeking
00:27:45their
00:27:46third win
00:27:46over
00:27:46Liverpool
00:27:47this season
00:27:47and it
00:27:48won here
00:27:49in the league
00:27:49top
00:27:49and up
00:27:50at some
00:27:50james' top
00:27:56he's
00:27:57going to
00:27:57take it
00:27:57quickly
00:28:01McAteer
00:28:02but he went
00:28:03in hard
00:28:04McManaman
00:28:05fell off
00:28:09you simply
00:28:10can't relax
00:28:10when he's
00:28:11around
00:28:18his striking
00:28:18rate is
00:28:19quite phenomenal
00:28:20Robbie Fowler
00:28:27somebody said
00:28:28the other day
00:28:28could you
00:28:29criticise him
00:28:29in any way
00:28:30and the answer
00:28:30is well
00:28:31he doesn't
00:28:31score every
00:28:31time he
00:28:32shoots a
00:28:32goal
00:28:32but
00:28:34it's not
00:28:35too often
00:28:35that he
00:28:35misses
00:28:41and there's
00:28:41no question
00:28:42at all
00:28:42that Terry
00:28:42Menemals
00:28:43has it
00:28:43for England
00:28:45squads of the
00:28:46future
00:28:47and I'm pretty
00:28:48certain for
00:28:48Euro 96
00:28:49he's going to
00:28:49play a part
00:28:51run
00:28:56up
00:28:57Beresford
00:28:57and it's
00:28:58in a check
00:28:58to collect
00:29:00and he's
00:29:01managed to
00:29:01do so
00:29:07well he's
00:29:08found
00:29:08his record
00:29:08now
00:29:08is
00:29:08at the
00:29:0984 goals
00:29:10and 137
00:29:11senior
00:29:12appearances
00:29:12for Liverpool
00:29:13that takes
00:29:14some beating
00:29:15and of course
00:29:16he's worked
00:29:16so much
00:29:17for the
00:29:17master
00:29:17Ian Rush
00:29:18who's on
00:29:19the bench
00:29:19tonight
00:29:21Beresford
00:29:25Lee
00:29:26now
00:29:27it's

00:29:32Spree was
00:29:33up here
00:29:33with him
00:29:34he was
00:29:35crowded
00:29:35out
00:29:35Redknapp
00:29:36to McAteer
00:29:37looking to
00:29:38launch
00:29:39Liverpool
00:29:39now
00:29:42Fowler
00:29:43had no
00:29:43time to
00:29:43turn
00:29:45Jones
00:29:46to
00:29:46Contimore
00:29:47he's
00:29:47drifted
00:29:48out
00:29:48wide
00:29:49three
00:29:49three
00:29:50point
00:29:50right
00:29:50Spree
00:29:51didn't really
00:29:52get a tackle
00:29:53it
00:29:53off goes
00:29:53Corley
00:29:54Moore
00:29:54an ejection of
00:29:55pace
00:29:57and Watson was up to the
00:29:58task
00:29:58and now remember who's
00:30:02placed to replace it
00:30:02Warren Buck
00:30:04Harkness
00:30:08Harkness
00:30:09scales
00:30:10hopefully up to
00:30:11Rose
00:30:11Climber
00:30:13and the referee has won't prefer
00:30:22it was Beardsley
00:30:23who set up Lee
00:30:25and he's just
00:30:25waited for the moment
00:30:27before slipping it on to
00:30:28Asprea
00:30:29for Newcastle's third
00:30:32scales who played him on there
00:30:34and there is the familiar
00:30:36somersault of delight
00:30:38and celebration from Faustino Asprea
00:31:02it was a comfortable save for Pavel Cernicek
00:31:06it was a comfortable save for Pavel Cernicek
00:31:15just hearing that Leeds have now taken the lead in that other Premier League match
00:31:18being played tonight against Southampton
00:31:19and it's Brian Dean
00:31:21who has his name on the score sheet
00:31:23Leeds 1
00:31:24Southampton 0
00:31:25a match that Dave Mourington's team can
00:31:27ill afford to lose
00:31:28if they're to
00:31:30retain their Premier League status
00:31:33well Liverpool
00:31:34certainly can't afford to lose this one
00:31:36prepare to stay in the Championship race
00:31:38McManaman
00:31:39sweeping Liverpool forward again
00:31:41here's McAteer
00:31:42as ever
00:31:42driving down the right side
00:31:45McAteer's run
00:31:46opened up some room for him
00:31:48here's Redna
00:31:50a bit ambitious from there
00:31:55Rednapp who made his
00:31:56comeback as a substitute
00:31:57in Queen's Park Rangers
00:31:59in February
00:32:00after a lengthy hamstring injury
00:32:02forced him to miss 15 games
00:32:06then his first start
00:32:08on Sunday
00:32:13then he's seen a few games at his time
00:32:22call him on
00:32:28Deresford
00:32:29he's got Nesprea
00:32:32Nesprea
00:32:35Nesprea
00:32:35trying to set him on his way
00:32:37Nesprea
00:32:38was being bought
00:32:40no, Mike Rui didn't
00:32:49Robert
00:32:56Jones
00:32:58Jones
00:32:59way by Howie
00:33:02that goes Rednapp
00:33:04Markness
00:33:07Jones
00:33:08couldn't shake off Watson
00:33:09John Barnes now
00:33:12McManaman calling in the centre
00:33:14Jones again
00:33:16delivering the cross
00:33:17that goes
00:33:17calling on
00:33:20no real power at the head of them
00:33:21from Stan Collymore
00:33:28most of the attacking
00:33:29is coming from Liverpool
00:33:30but Newcastle are so dangerous
00:33:32on the break
00:33:33what such clearance
00:33:36Barnes
00:33:41now Rednapp
00:33:42on to McManaman
00:33:47here's McAteer
00:33:49the block from Beresford
00:33:52scales
00:33:55McAteer
00:33:56the deep cross this time
00:33:57Collymore almost off the end of it
00:34:00Binsley to chip it clear
00:34:04Asprea
00:34:05now Ginola
00:34:06big waved on by referee Mike Reid
00:34:09Ginola's pass
00:34:09just to on Ferdinand
00:34:18Asprea
00:34:19who fits in and out of the game
00:34:20but
00:34:20he's so lethal
00:34:24that he makes these tenic contributions
00:34:27score of Newcastle's third goal
00:34:29Beresford now
00:34:30Beresford short
00:34:34that's not his strongest foot
00:34:36he wasn't far wide there
00:34:43drifting on to his right
00:34:50McManaman
00:34:53now McAteer
00:34:57super school
00:34:57from the Irishman
00:35:00but Lee had recovered his ground
00:35:01there's McManaman now
00:35:06over the cross
00:35:07was over here
00:35:07Foul is pulled back
00:35:10into the middle
00:35:12out by Howie
00:35:14Jones
00:35:15tackling there with Watson
00:35:16and that's out of play
00:35:17for Liverpool
00:35:18pro
00:35:25John Bucks
00:35:28cut out by Ferdinand
00:35:29Lee
00:35:32he's getting stronger
00:35:33and stronger
00:35:33in this game
00:35:35Asprea
00:35:35trying to
00:35:36up-renew the right
00:35:37couldn't do so
00:35:38so it's McAteer now
00:35:40it was a good ball
00:35:43pull it
00:35:43pull it
00:35:43pull it all
00:35:49Liverpool
00:35:50three
00:35:51Newcastle
00:35:52three
00:35:5268 minutes gone
00:35:55and this without question
00:35:56is one of the matches
00:35:58of the season
00:36:00McAteer
00:36:01swinging over the cross
00:36:02you can see
00:36:03Surnacek really in two miles
00:36:06and the ever eager
00:36:07to Collymore
00:36:08is in there
00:36:09to snap up the chance
00:36:13goal number 16
00:36:14for Stanton Collymore
00:36:15this season
00:36:18and it really was
00:36:20such a well measured
00:36:21cross
00:36:21by Jason McAteer
00:36:23to pick him out
00:36:34the
00:36:34back
00:36:35back level
00:36:38no real emotion
00:36:40on the face of Kevin Keegan
00:36:41but he will be bitterly
00:36:43disappointed that his team
00:36:43have conceded the lead
00:36:44again
00:36:46McAteer
00:36:47to McAteer
00:36:48McAteer has continued
00:36:49his run
00:36:51away from the
00:36:52scampering figure
00:36:53of Beresford
00:36:53here's McManaman
00:36:57tackled
00:36:57in the box
00:36:58cleanly
00:37:00and in fairness
00:37:01there was no protest
00:37:01from McManaman
00:37:02only from the Liverpool fans
00:37:06Ferdinand
00:37:08got it
00:37:10caught by Esprit
00:37:11I think that's going to be
00:37:12a free kick
00:37:14now here's the challenge
00:37:15again by Beresford
00:37:19he dived in then
00:37:20Beresford
00:37:22and he was a bit
00:37:23lucky to get away
00:37:24with that
00:37:29McManaman
00:37:32batty for Newcastle
00:37:33Gino
00:37:34he hasn't been as
00:37:36intellectual in the
00:37:37second half
00:37:37as he was in the
00:37:38first
00:37:42McAteer there
00:37:42stopped him creating
00:37:43any more damage
00:37:46bombs
00:37:47on for McManaman
00:37:51here's Redner
00:37:54Fowler
00:37:58Fowler
00:37:58Fowler
00:37:59so aware
00:37:59of his presence
00:38:00that
00:38:00Fowler taking the
00:38:02throw itself
00:38:02Steve McManaman
00:38:11Fowler
00:38:15up
00:38:15now Ferdinand
00:38:17Watson
00:38:18from Piersley
00:38:20who is the architect
00:38:21really of the third
00:38:22goal
00:38:22scored by this man
00:38:24Asprey up at
00:38:25Newcastle
00:38:28sound defensive work
00:38:29from Rock Jones
00:38:30and outscales for
00:38:31Liverpool
00:38:34but how do you
00:38:35obtain this man
00:38:35Faustino Asprey
00:38:37you just never know
00:38:37what he's going to
00:38:38pop up with next
00:38:40Fowler's touch
00:38:43it's a dry piece of
00:38:44skill for Fowler
00:38:45McAteer
00:38:49now Steve Howey
00:38:50just stepped in first
00:38:53the game swinging
00:38:54from one end to the
00:38:55other
00:38:57and the pack with the
00:38:58linesman flag to
00:39:00deny Liverpool
00:39:03McAteer was in a storming
00:39:04going down the right
00:39:05side
00:39:05there was his cross
00:39:08but late on the goal
00:39:09then
00:39:10and his cross
00:39:11there
00:39:12almost set up
00:39:12Collymore
00:39:18way by Roddick
00:39:19but only to
00:39:21Piersley
00:39:23away with pass
00:39:25don't see too many
00:39:25those from Piersley
00:39:26here's McManaman
00:39:30he's got a constant
00:39:32source of trouble
00:39:34to Newcastle
00:39:35as Steve McManaman
00:39:42Berdick
00:39:43he called back
00:39:44I think by Mark
00:39:45Reid
00:39:48yellow card
00:39:49for the England
00:39:50striker
00:39:55fuck the ball away
00:39:57pack a tear
00:39:59McManaman
00:40:02and we've got plenty
00:40:02defenders back
00:40:03there in Newcastle
00:40:06Ginola
00:40:07elegant before
00:40:08to a screer
00:40:09he's somehow held it up
00:40:10to deliver a perfect
00:40:11pass there
00:40:11to Lee
00:40:12Morawdick through the
00:40:13centre
00:40:16but he's not going to
00:40:17get the free kick
00:40:24Fowler
00:40:26just can't take your
00:40:27eye off this game
00:40:27for a moment
00:40:29Daffy
00:40:29to Beardsley
00:40:32it's Ferdinand
00:40:33setting off
00:40:34through the middle
00:40:34along with Esprit
00:40:36and it clear by
00:40:37scales
00:40:38to Jamie Redner
00:40:39now Harkness
00:40:40Barnes
00:40:41this is Jason
00:40:48McAteer
00:40:50looking for the
00:40:51run of
00:40:51for him
00:40:51also too
00:40:52was out there
00:40:52Ginola
00:40:57seems a long time
00:40:58ago now
00:40:59that Ginola
00:40:59came
00:41:00because of that
00:41:012-1 lead
00:41:01so much has
00:41:02happened since then
00:41:06communication there
00:41:06McAteer
00:41:07at Ginola
00:41:09spotting opinions
00:41:10to good at Bradley
00:41:27here's Watson
00:41:28now Lee
00:41:31still not Lee
00:41:36here's Watson
00:41:41the ball's gone out of play and Rana pointing there that there was a player down injured
00:41:50well has that covered a miskick drive
00:41:52John Barnes, I think because it was one of his teammates
00:41:55he had every right to pump the ball into touch
00:41:59well Keegon has seen his team throw away the lead twice that now
00:42:06Roy Owens with plenty of advice as well
00:42:09such an important going this in the race for the championship
00:42:15but Manchester United looking on with more than passing interest
00:42:23here's the moment when John Barnes was injured
00:42:25he was stretching there with Robert Lee
00:42:27he could fall rather awkwardly
00:42:35so Barnes being hopped off the field
00:42:39Ian Rush is the other outfield substitute
00:42:41who's already used Steve Harkness of course
00:42:46John Barnes who's been such a central figure
00:42:48for Liverpool this season
00:42:51maybe his England days are over now
00:42:53although Terry Venables I know he's still racing very highly
00:42:59but I don't think we're going to see Barnes in Euro 96
00:43:02we're certainly going to see more of him for Liverpool
00:43:05and indeed more of him in this game
00:43:07he's okay to continue
00:43:15coolier way by David James to Scales
00:43:19Liverpool 3, Newcastle 3
00:43:24McAteer to Scales
00:43:26on by Rednapp
00:43:33on by Rednapp
00:43:34on by Rednapp
00:43:35McManaman
00:43:37has pulled his cross back as well
00:43:39and spot this way
00:43:41and as Robbie Fowler arrived on the scene
00:43:45just can't rest for a moment
00:43:46with Robbie Fowler
00:43:49good persistence shown here by McManaman
00:43:53and well that could have gone anywhere
00:43:57that's Howie I think in the end
00:44:02corner for Liverpool
00:44:04relief for Steve Howie
00:44:06Rednapp taking the kick
00:44:10that was Runnett going in
00:44:15that's Breonna
00:44:18just casually stepped on there
00:44:2015 minutes remaining
00:44:29foul line
00:44:30from David James' pass
00:44:34and he's hoping to see if John Beresford
00:44:37there will be a corner there
00:44:39good distribution by David James
00:44:47McManaman
00:44:48wants to take this corner kick
00:44:51ushering McAteer away
00:44:54Berser was a bit close there
00:44:57Rednapp
00:44:59waste of journey for Ronek in the centre
00:45:03Asprea
00:45:07well I'm not too sure that was over the line
00:45:10it was so fast that that piece of trickery from Masprea
00:45:22here
00:45:23Neil Ruddock
00:45:24delivering one of those ankle passes
00:45:26to McAteer
00:45:28McManaman
00:45:31still involved in everything for Liverpool tonight
00:45:33Steve McManaman
00:45:34here's Scales
00:45:35McManaman again
00:45:36there's Collingwood got the other way
00:45:38but McManaman it's through
00:45:42Watson to the rescue
00:45:43McAteer
00:45:44Sinashek has just got back in time
00:45:47and Peter Biersley just calmed it all down
00:45:51that's composed defending by Biersley
00:45:57it really is a cracking guy
00:45:59John Vance
00:46:08Scales
00:46:14Philippe Albert
00:46:19isn't a bad ball either
00:46:21Ferdinand
00:46:23with Hartniss
00:46:24Ferdinand
00:46:28fabulous block by David James
00:46:32that's what Coltie was out there money
00:46:36Ferdinand did so well then
00:46:39shook off Hartniss with his strength
00:46:40but he couldn't beat James
00:46:44who must have refused there to Ferdinand
00:46:47Ginola
00:46:52McManaman
00:46:53McManaman for Liverpool
00:46:56and Farrow
00:46:57Paul went the other direction there
00:46:59Biersley
00:47:01offside
00:47:03Ferdinand
00:47:03that must have been a tight one
00:47:08spotted by the eagle-eyed linesman
00:47:12Steve McManaman
00:47:14having to torment Newcastle again
00:47:17but they really are up for the task tonight
00:47:19Newcastle
00:47:20and they were so disappointed
00:47:22they only lost to Manchester United in that
00:47:24recent game up at St James'
00:47:29he said he felt like a ringmaster
00:47:30he said he felt like a ringmaster
00:47:31bringing the circus to town
00:47:32but the Lions and Tigers
00:47:33failed to turn up
00:47:37but
00:47:38threatening Newcastle again
00:47:47and away come Newcastle now with David Ginola
00:47:51McAteer's interception
00:48:06well played Steve McManaman
00:48:10he's been bubbling all over the field for Liverpool
00:48:14but this was
00:48:15well this was
00:48:15Pavel Cernicek's moment of glory
00:48:17check of pace there by Jock Vance
00:48:22he's got some 40-odd matches without scoring
00:48:27that was James
00:48:28with a splendid stop
00:48:29to keep up nice Ferdinand
00:48:32and stays at Liverpool three
00:48:35Newcastle three
00:48:37could have been about eight each
00:48:43McAteer
00:48:43Fowler
00:48:45we're inside the last 10 minutes now
00:48:47Steve McManaman
00:48:52Redknapp
00:48:55Fowler couldn't quite get his boot to the ball
00:48:57here's Peter Beardsley
00:48:58drilled out for Ferdinand
00:49:00Watson
00:49:06Beardsley's pass
00:49:07releasing Steve Watson
00:49:10that's good tracking back though by Steve Harkness
00:49:16pass
00:49:17for Robbie Fowler
00:49:22still Fowler is going all the way here
00:49:25and his shot ricochets off Steve Howe
00:49:28for a corner to Liverpool
00:49:30Newcastle want to bring on Derek Peacock now
00:49:35he's rather been
00:49:37out of the picture lately
00:49:38losing his place to Philippe Alvaire
00:49:45it's Howey he is coming on for
00:49:53this looks to be
00:49:54lip-tick slightly there as he leaves the field so
00:49:57I presume it is an injury to Howey
00:50:00they can't afford how many passengers at the top now
00:50:03with Liverpool going for the jugular
00:50:09here's the corner taken by Jamie Redknapp
00:50:15he's still got a challenge there
00:50:17which had the crowd roaring for a penalty
00:50:20Steve Harkness
00:50:21Barnes
00:50:29goal kick to Newcastle
00:50:37there
00:50:38Aaron Peacock who'd been a fixture of the team earlier in the season
00:50:40but once Alvaire had come back from injury
00:50:44he lost his position at the back alongside Steve Howey
00:50:51Harkness powerful header forward
00:50:53now they can't control it though
00:50:55now it's Berenswood
00:51:11it's a bit hard to see from that I don't think so though
00:51:13it was right across the face of the goal
00:51:16thinking maybe that Alvaire got a touch to it
00:51:21it's hard to see from that I don't think so though
00:51:26maybe that angle will tell us
00:51:27it didn't look as if there was a deflection
00:51:34the news of Steve Howey he has a slight hamstring pull
00:51:39hits his replacement
00:51:41looks like Ferdinand's got a problem there
00:51:45also the Liverpool player down
00:51:49John Barnes now
00:51:51McManaman
00:51:54now they've settled for some treatment to
00:51:58I think Neil Rudder
00:52:00indeed it is
00:52:04but this pulsating game really has
00:52:07ebbed and flowed
00:52:11and who could predict with any certainty whether there'll be a winner now
00:52:21and
00:52:24thanks good english
00:52:28you can still have six minutes
00:52:31to win the game
00:52:33he's told not for this three three
00:52:36and there's the confrontation between Ronak and Liz Ferdinand
00:52:39which left both players in distress
00:52:42you run it we'll look to run it off
00:52:57not a bad man to have it reserved Ian Rush such a wonderful servant to Liverpool
00:53:02down the years and how he would relish one more championship
00:53:06Liverpool remember haven't won it since 1990
00:53:10Newcastle had to go a long long way further back than that
00:53:13for their last championship success almost 70 years
00:53:22Redknapp
00:53:27McAteer
00:53:29getting a tackle there with Scales
00:53:32don't think they're all in the same wavelength
00:53:37but Rock Jones is about to go off
00:53:41on comes Rush
00:53:42but a lot of delivery will be going on
00:53:51as Ronek has returned
00:53:56Liverpool are certainly going for the win in these last few minutes
00:54:00the draw really isn't good enough for them
00:54:07who better to bring on that Ian Rush
00:54:10the master goal scorer
00:54:13he may be in the twilight of his career now
00:54:15but he still knows where the goal is
00:54:21345 goals for Liverpool
00:54:24from over 650 first-class matches
00:54:29Ginola with the cross for Newcastle
00:54:34now off goes McBadden
00:54:37Newcastle having to retreat here
00:54:40McAteer is wide of it
00:54:41this is McAteer now
00:54:44too close to Cernicek
00:54:46they have what, four or five players
00:54:48converging on the goalkeeper
00:54:52we're now into the last three minutes of the game
00:55:01David Batley from Derresford
00:55:03David Batley from Derresford
00:55:08Muscure colliding with Ruddock
00:55:15and the expression on his face will tell you
00:55:17that he is a judge to be the aggressor there
00:55:24so here's a real opportunity for Newcastle
00:55:31James supervising the racks ahead of him
00:55:47Mike Reid wanting that wall further back
00:55:51Ferdinand may be lining up a shot here
00:55:53Espriar

00:56:28couldn't quite profit from it
00:56:29Redknapp
00:56:34off the head of John Parrishfoot
00:56:36there goes David Batley
00:56:39he's been so competitive in the midfield

00:57:57Surely a foul there.
00:57:59The free-kicks couldn't give up.
00:58:02Okay, says Esprit up.
00:58:03You caught me first.
00:58:07It's Liverpool's free-kick.
00:58:08More anxious moments still in store for Newcastle.
00:58:13John Barnes.
00:58:16McManaman.
00:58:19Beresford was so tightly marking him.
00:58:23Scales.
00:58:24Wide for McManaman again.
00:58:26Away from Beresford.
00:58:28It'll be a corner.
00:58:29We're in to Stockwich side now.
00:58:30Beresford.
00:58:37Beresford taking the corner kick.
00:58:42It's nail-biting stuff here now at Atfield.

00:58:51Guinello and Batley.
00:58:53It goes McAteer.
00:58:54Driving for the line.

00:59:02Clear by Beresford.
00:59:04Here's Watson.

00:59:38But here's Colleyball!
00:59:41Liverpool have won it.
00:59:43An amazing finish.
00:59:46And Keegan just cannot take it in.
00:59:51What a finale!
00:59:53Stan Colleymore!
00:59:54Stan Colleymore!
00:59:57Two for him.
00:59:58Two for Fowler.
01:00:00And surely now.
01:00:01Liverpool have the points.
01:00:04And are back in the title race.
01:00:07Stunning finish by Colleymore.
01:00:10Liverpool.
01:00:12Liverpool four.
01:00:12Newcastle three.
01:00:23And this has been a quite incredible match.
01:00:29What an advertisement for Premier League football.
01:00:33And just see here.
01:00:37The disconsolate faces of the Newcastle fans.
01:00:43What a bitter pill for them to swallow.
01:00:45You have to feel for them.
01:00:49Twice they've been in front.
01:00:52Fowler.
01:00:53Colleymore!
01:00:53On a hat grip.
01:01:01Steve Watson to pump it hopefully forward to Newcastle.
01:01:04Won by Ferdinand.
01:01:05Here goes Espriot.
01:01:07Roddick is there with him.
01:01:09Is that a nod by Espriot?
01:01:11The referee has given the free kick to Liverpool.
01:01:14Keegan furious.
01:01:21On you go, says Mike Reid.
01:01:25Maybe the calmest man out there.
01:01:28It's hard staying calm in the commentary box.
01:01:30I'm losing my voice here.
01:01:32Out there.
01:01:37Back off Barks to Harkness.
01:01:40It's all over.
01:01:42And Liverpool's championship aspirations are very much alive.
01:01:47Well, no wonder they're hugging each other there.
01:01:49Keegan and Evans.
01:01:51This has been a fantastic night's football.
01:01:54It's such a crushing blow though for Newcastle.
01:01:57Whose dream of a first league title in almost 70 years.
01:02:01Is turning rapidly into a nightmare.
01:02:03Two goals for Stan Colleymore.
01:02:05Two for Robbie Fowler.
01:02:07Liverpool have closed the gap to two points on Newcastle now.
01:02:11And celebrating I'm sure with equal elation.
01:02:14Will be Manchester United.
01:02:16Their three point advantage over Newcastle remains intact.
01:02:19And now Newcastle had only one game in hand.
01:02:22The odds are tilting the way of Alex Ferguson's team.
01:02:25After this dramatic result.
01:02:28Liverpool are certainly back in the frame.
01:02:30Waiting to pounce now on any slip ups by United.
01:02:34Five points behind them.
01:02:35But with a match in hand.
01:02:38Newcastle's character is under scrutiny.
01:02:40They were stretching irresistibly.
01:02:41For the finishing line just a few short weeks ago.
01:02:44But now clearly it will take another dramatic twist in this absorbing tale.
01:02:49For them to regain the initiative.
01:02:52The final score line from Anfield.
01:02:55On this astonishing night.
01:02:57Liverpool four.
01:02:59Newcastle three.
