00:04Hey everyone, I'm Pat Nagel, I'm also a designer on Hearthstone,
00:07and together we make Hearthstone's Tavern Brawls.
00:09So we're here today to announce a super exciting new brawl type called Heroic Brawl.
00:16This brawl is something, it's in a category we've never done before, which is very exciting,
00:21and it's meant to be a little bit more competitive than we normally make these brawls.
00:25So we're really interested in hearing what you guys have to think about it.
00:28So I'll go over a little bit of the details.
00:31In many ways it's like Arena, but unlike Arena, Heroic Brawl is constructed.
00:37So you'll use your cards, you'll make your own deck, your one deck,
00:42and then you lock it in and you do a run like Arena.
00:45And we'll track how many wins you make during that run,
00:48and the rewards you get will scale depending on how many wins you got before you lose three times.
00:54Like Arena, Heroic Brawl will have an entrance fee.
00:58It will be more than Arena.
01:00However, the rewards you get will be much better than Arena rewards.
01:05We think you'll be pretty happy.

01:10Yeah, it's going to be super awesome.
01:11And one of the other reasons we want to make this video is we kind of want to talk about
01:14the philosophy of Tavern Brawls,
01:15and sort of why we make the Brawls that we make.
01:17And I think the biggest, the most important thing that we do with Tavern Brawls,
01:21we really want to make sure that people are getting something new when they log in all the time.
01:25So the people that are logging in every week, every day, you know,
01:29we want to make sure that there's content there for them.
01:30And the Tavern Brawl is kind of like a nice surprise when you log in.
01:33And it's like, hey, it's this cool new mode that you can play that's different from Ranked Play or from
01:37Arena.
01:37It just helps to mix it up a little bit.
01:39Yeah, surprise is really big for us.
01:41And another kind of advantage of Tavern Brawls is that because they only last for that one week,
01:47we can be a little experimental with what we put into our Tavern Brawls.
01:52We can try different formats, we can target different types of players,
01:56and we know that, you know, even if we make a really bad one,
02:00it's only going to last, you know, until the end of the week,
02:02and then, you know, the next week we're going to have a whole new one.
02:05Right, and this Brawl is specifically meant to target players who want something a little bit more competitive,
02:11like a more competitive experience.
02:13So, the Brawl might not be for everybody this week, and that's okay, I think, that, you know...
02:19I think it'll be fun to watch.
02:21Yeah, it'll be fun to watch for sure.

02:22Like, I'm looking forward to, you know, going on Twitch and watching some of my favorite players play this thing.
