00:00you did not save money in the sales you spent it we both know that no more girl math please
00:05let's
00:06start calling it what it is buying something you weren't planning to buy just because it was 50
00:10off does not mean you saved anything you probably saw that same item at full price and didn't even
00:16look twice it but because it has a red sticker on all of a sudden you want it you only
00:21save money
00:22in this way if you were already planning to buy it and then you see it for less then yeah
00:26you've
00:26save money i feel like i used to get really tricked by sales and go crazy with the urgency of
00:31it like
00:31oh my gosh i need to add all of this in my basket before it sells out i need to
00:34have it at that price
00:35but i've slowly realized that actually it's a sales tactic and it's only in place to make you spend more
00:41money not help you save why would that help the organizations at all i feel like putting into
00:47practice my 48 hour rule when it comes to buying things really helped me to look at sales for what
00:52they were before you put that item in your basket because it's on sale wait 48 hours if it goes
00:58out
00:58of stock oh well so be it you've actually saved money if it doesn't i'm sure you'll realize that
01:03the urgency and the novelty wears off and you don't even want it i'll say again sales are made for
01:08you
01:09to spend not to save delete the sheen basket we are saving in 2026 take it from me an ex
01:15-spendaholic
01:16i managed to add 15k to my savings in under a year and here's how i did it first of
01:21all i stopped
01:21shopping on fast fashion websites no more sheen no more plt this is because one day i did a wardrobe
01:27clear out and i got rid of six bags of clothes from these websites right there and then i realized
01:33that i was looking at over a grand's worth of clothes that i was no longer going to wear i
01:38now
01:38only invest in pieces that i will re-wear and can mix and match with other things and i'm way
01:43more mindful of what clothes i do buy next i paid off any debt before trying to save i had
01:49a car loan
01:50and on that i was paying interest i couldn't save if i was also paying additional interest on that
01:55loan so i paid that off with the savings i did have first and then was able to save much
02:00quicker
02:01i was realistic with how much money i left myself each month i used to leave myself stupid amounts
02:06like 300 pounds a month inevitably end up dipping into my savings and basically saving nothing every
02:13month so now i leave myself a realistic amount every month and because i have changed my spending habits
02:18i'm able to not dip into my savings i set myself a realistic goal and a time frame so that
02:24i could
02:24enjoy seeing the figure add up every month kind of see it as a game you just take your energy
02:30and you
02:31put it elsewhere instead of scrolling through sheen think about your life goals think about where
02:37you want to be in five years and work towards that instead i was also mindful of not only clothing
02:43purchases but every purchase i want to make and i practice delayed gratification so for example
02:49i wanted to buy a brawn laser at home device yesterday i had it in the basket it's 300 pounds
02:57down from 600 pounds i sat on it i thought about it and i decided i'm not ready to make
03:03that investment
03:03yet so i didn't buy it rather than impulse buy think about what you're buying i also cut down on
03:09subscriptions where i could do you need netflix do you need spotify can you share with someone else
03:15if possible i cut down any unnecessary subscriptions massively and i don't want you guys to get this
03:21twisted this doesn't mean i missed out on holidays and fun stuff last year i still managed to go on
03:27two
03:27holidays so you can save and still go on holiday it just means making sacrifices like re-wearing outfits
03:34outfits that you already have
