00:00Stand up straight.
00:02You're growing up so much, you'll be bigger than your dad soon.
00:05Archie, we measured you.
00:06Stand there, turn around.
00:08We've always kept your effort in all of the kids,
00:10of how much they've grown over the years.
00:13It's just nice to be able to look back.
00:15Look, there's Sophie when she was nine.
00:17Tell you something, I didn't expect to see so many names on this, did you?
00:20I know.
00:22Childhood flies by in the blink of an eye.
00:25Look at Bonnie, look how big she is now.
00:27Before you know it, they've grown up and gone.
00:29Stand up straight.
00:30Wow.
00:31So I think Max is actually taller than me.
00:34But growing up in a relationship is a whole different kettle of fish.
00:38Right, who's next?
00:39We can grow together.
00:41I don't really want to separate the family.
00:44Or we can grow apart.
00:46And we have tried everything.
00:50I'm going to go, so you're just going to have to stop for a minute.
00:55Things will get better.
01:05I'm on the same track.
01:24You're the first day!
01:26or you are.
01:26I've been waiting eight years.
01:28I'm watching Tyrodill.
01:29I'll never forget the limit.
01:29one of the first signs that your family's growing up
01:33hurry up i've got to get to work is when you can't get in the bathroom
01:39grooming it really just used to be the girls they would spend ages in the bathroom but now
01:44it's the boys used to be like they were just typical boys you know weren't bothered if the
01:48flies followed them around you know they could go go for a few days without washing their face
01:53so just do an overcoat of uh deodorant now completely different nolan sue have noticed
02:01that their boys are growing up faster than they used to i won't name who this one is but
02:07got his aftershaves and then we've got this stuff natural moisturizing back to ha
02:15bedroom to bedroom it's the same story look at this one it's a full-on chemistry yeah
02:22you'd expect it if you're talking 17 and 18 year olds but you know we're not we're talking 12.
02:28we're all waiting don't even know that there we go look another one in the bathroom one's come out
02:33another one's gone in there was a time when your dad taught you how to shave and which deodorant to
02:38buy
02:38what is it but not anymore they're getting all this it's like anything they see it on tick tock
02:45instagram and then it'll be oh i need to try that oscar and casper may or may not be two
02:53of those
02:54concerned so personal agreement i changed how many times i washed my hair deodorant aftershave
03:03you have to change it all because you you start to notice them more as you get older because stuff
03:10happens
03:12your body starts to change and that means that you've got to do more i'm going to start wearing
03:18after safety i'll still watch the one that you use that giorgio or marnie or something yeah i'll
03:23have some giorgio or marnie eventually you hear a lot of negative things about social media but the
03:29boys are getting some good tips about personal hygiene and things so that can only be a good thing can't
03:33it what can you be doing in there not sure noel agrees can't wait any longer i gotta go to
03:39work
03:39i'm just going for the spraying go approach
03:51through more than 20 years the radford family has called morecambe their home
03:57righty they moved here when eldest daughter sophie was just seven
04:02i love it here i can't believe i blew the water in today
04:10morecambe was quite run down when i was a kid but as i've grown it's definitely grown with me
04:16and i love it now coming up here just clears the mind it's and obviously it's so beautiful to look
04:21at
04:21as well it's so lovely morecambe has always been part of my life i've been brought up here i've brought
04:28my kids into the world in morecambe i've met my husband here yeah i've done everything here
04:35i have a regular routine it's three miles each time sophie began weekly walks here during a difficult
04:41time in her life last year wasn't feeling great about myself my mum and sisters took me to amsterdam for
04:52my 30th just to try and cheer me up i will give you a burlesque worship today but what was
04:57meant to
04:58be a bit of fun backfired it's like a sexy dance isn't it it looks sexy i don't feel very
05:04sexy i did tell
05:06my family that i just wasn't feeling too good about myself i was struggling with day-to-day life it's
05:12just a
05:12bit weird and i don't feel comfortable in doing it it was quite a big thing for me thinking you
05:20know
05:20this is really not sophie like right i'm gonna stop because i'm getting a bit emotional she's not the
05:27sort of person that ever gets down she's always really happy smiley bubbly she never really said
05:33what was going on but she has seemed so much better since then cold i should have worn a jumper
05:40you have one in the back no i don't think i do to help sophie's recovery sue chloe and ellie
05:46are in
05:47the lake district planning her a surprise there's several different types of functions really and
05:52you've got a great outlook on the river labyrinth down there sophie and joe are just coming up to their
05:5910-year wedding anniversary and nothing tears you up more than a party so we're just looking for a
06:05venue really pretty isn't it i really like this do you yeah i do like it something like this i
06:11think
06:11so as well 10 years is a big achievement i can't remember our 10-year anniversary to be honest but
06:16there you go um but it is a long don't look at me like that you're digging yourself in a
06:22hole no this
06:23is really nice isn't it so i think it would definitely be fair to say that if there's any kind
06:29of party to be organized i'm definitely there the girls are scouting a venue for a 10th anniversary
06:34bash i like it and anything we all like sophie tends to like doesn't she the lakes is special
06:40because sophie and joe got married in the lakes so i feel like the venue would be nice to be
06:45in the
06:46lakes wouldn't it sophie met joe when she was just 13 years old joe used to work in the local
06:55tesco
06:56which was just down the road wasn't it whenever she'd have to nip into things yeah i think you'd
07:02have a bit of a flirt they started going out and then had days i think they've been together maybe
07:06a year because i can remember when joe proposed to sophie it was really cute wasn't it and you
07:11bought like a big bouquet of flowers and then put the card in it put the card in the ring
07:16yeah it's really
07:17cute but a wedding isn't just about the happy couple do you know what though i've got such good
07:24memories of my dad and sophie's wedding day do you remember he fell down the hill he literally rolled
07:30down it it was so fun yeah my mum was laughing her head up at him but yeah he did
07:36enjoy sophie's
07:39dinner 10 years is a long time in life as well as marriage i just think it's flown by but
07:46there's
07:46been so much that's happened in them 10 years as well though hasn't there we only had the 17 kids
07:52back
07:52then so we've had another five since we just had hallie so she was our first baby born after we
07:59lost
08:00alphie got lots of grandchildren we've lost noel's mom my dad i suppose ultimately life is about beginnings and ends
08:14nothing stays the same
08:18especially people they don't stay the same
08:23unfortunately sophie has been concealing a secret
08:27i've been bottling a lot up in the past year and i haven't told my family everything that's been
08:32going on other problems you know face the fact that marriage doesn't seem to be exactly what you
08:39want it to be and it's not resolving itself why haven't you told them i feel like because mum and
08:46dad
08:46have always got so much going on i don't want to burden them with my problems i am kind of
08:52reaching
08:52a point now where i've got to do something about it our marriage isn't working
09:10big events are commonplace in this family
09:18and when the radfords throw a birthday party the whole town knows about it so the girls are having
09:25a joint birthday party because i feel it's just 25. elodie's nearly two got all of the friends here today
09:33all of the family everyone here having a great time these days birthday parties have grown into something
09:43different gone of the days of green jelly sandwiches with the crusts off what and sausage and cheese
09:50on sticks that's disgusting these days parties are big business archie bunch back a bit his birthdays
09:58are really special aren't they yeah you do spend time as well planning it and thinking about it don't
10:03because you want that birthday to be a core memory for them right you ready
10:09bounty castle soft play birthday cake fighting all their friends yeah do as much as i could
10:20predictably noel doesn't agree and neither does harley kids birthday parties are like the after show of a
10:28oscar event invitation sent out goodie bags you become a babysitter for 20 other kids that aren't
10:34yours is it an expense you really need that's what i said to me i said can we not just
10:38do it at all
10:40i mean i i think you're dinosaurs like how can you not care about a child's birthday party
10:45you should have had princesses then shouldn't you instead of children stop arguing you lot
11:02on a birthday you can plan everything apart from one thing
11:19so who's excited for jump rush hitting one of morecambe's attractions are you gonna jump the
11:24highest i'm gonna jump the highest are sophie and her three children daisy april and leo let's go jump
11:33around sophie's definitely a big big family person kids come first sophie and joe come second isn't it
11:39come on making them happy and then it's uh things of herself size five two and two please
11:48you're not six no you're not all right are you gonna have a go i think i'll probably watch you
11:53all this
11:54time leo why don't you do that see how fast you can get across
12:01places like this are familiar to sophie me and joe met at like a laser tag thing called mega zone
12:09just around the corner from here actually
12:12but today joe isn't here
12:18joe has moved out for a trial
12:23this is like very raw it literally just happened
12:28he's living it with one of his family members just give each other some space and see how we go
12:34with
12:34that what has happened um i don't really want to be going into it because obviously it is private and
12:42you know me and joe both see things very differently it's just not like it used to be if that
12:47makes
12:47sense we just we're grown apart when all you've known is a secure family unit striking out alone
12:55isn't easy i was a bit nervous actually coming out the door to come here on my own because obviously
13:01i've been in i've grown up in a really big family so i've never been lonely there i've spent half
13:08my
13:08life with joe so i've never been lonely there is that nice leo it can be quite hard sometimes to
13:15stay
13:16like neutral if you will uh in front of the kids having fun we need to keep everything as normal
13:27as possible
13:28it's quite hard to keep that in you have to put that front on don't you
13:36we have had a separation before a few years back now but we did actually end up coming back together
13:46i'm not really thinking about life without joe at the minute
13:51i'm just trying to stay positive and think of the kids yeah that's my goal at the minute
14:14what's going on
14:18something's tickled five-year-old ophelia
14:23oh her laugh is just it's contagious isn't it i really do love it when kids when something really
14:29tickles them and they're just laughing hysterically and they just cannot stop laughing
14:36why is she laughing at me i forgot what's wrong on the face what oh it's mommy's relationship with harley
14:44is super special i'm really proud of the feeling yeah i'm just proud of the character she's turning
14:50into what's funny daddy's face really had a feeling before we got together so i feel is not my biological
14:59daughter but a couple of months ago i did get parental responsibility for her and now i feel like she's
15:05blind
15:10harley has been in ophelia's life since she was only six months old it doesn't seem five minutes since
15:17ophelia's born never mind five years
15:24we've had all the big milestones of walking talking crawling
15:30starting nursery
15:32ophelia's next milestone is school but there's one thing millie and harley have to do first
15:38the final piece in the jigsaw is that we've applied for ophelia's surname to change before school begins
15:44it should come through any day now so millie and harley are changing ophelia's surname because
15:50chester and elodie are both passmore radford and ophelia's just radford let's go get your
15:56uniform just so ophelia will never feel different so they're going to get that changed all the same
16:03that's jumpers you need cardigans here she's seen mom sue do this many times but now buying
16:11school uniform is finally millie's turn so we need cardigans school shoes school t-shirts
16:19pe kit pumps it's just like a never-ending list isn't it lift your arms up how do you feel
16:26about
16:26starting school good you feel good do you feel excited yeah can't believe how fast she's grown up
16:33lift your arms right up all of the nursery reports have said how confident she is so
16:38i think she is going to thrive in school i think she's going to love it
16:44ophelia's ready but what about mum yeah that's your size
16:49she's been with me the whole way through motherhood and now she's leaving me to go to school
16:54are you buying all of them no and it is really sad
17:02i do think billy's going to find it quite hard when philia does start school i remember when chris
17:08started school and it was just such a weird feeling of him not being around anymore like 24 7 and
17:14you
17:14having to hand the care over of your child to somebody else do you feel sad i feel that you're
17:19going
17:20to school and leaving mummy no who am i going to have at home to annoy now you can annoy
17:27daddy
17:27yeah i can annoy daddy instead i'll do that then lift your arms up once more
17:34hello mr passmore back home it's rachel from solicitors
17:41i'm trying to lodge the application for ophelia's surname with the high court but there's been a problem with
17:47the form yeah i'm going to need a lot of name labels you might not want to get the name
17:55labels
17:55printed just yet i need you to come back to the office urgently please so that we can submit a
18:01new
18:02application to the court if you could give me a call i'd really appreciate that i'm unable to guarantee
18:07if the change could be done on time own up then whose fault is it harley millie and harley's
18:16disorganization has let them down again with two weeks till school time is running out hello is
18:25that the family lawyer i need an urgent appointment please
18:35as your kids grow up the hope is that they can navigate their way through life without needing
18:40parental help but six weeks into sophie and joe's trial separation can i order another coffee please
18:52mom and dad have had to be told i mean as a mom i definitely knew that there was something
18:58not right
18:58sophie she wasn't quite as bright and bubbly as what she would normally be and i did kind of think
19:05it
19:05was probably something to do with sophie and joe's marriage but you just hope that they'll be able
19:11to work it out thank you how are things going um my emotions have been very much up and down
19:21i would say more down than up so they're not really any better no not really no sophie's facing a
19:28dilemma do they get back together or split up for good what are you thinking i'm thinking all sorts
19:35at the minute my head's just crazy do i just keep going as we are or do we just end
19:42it it means
19:44i'd always thought you know you and joe were such a lovely um well this is it things when they're
19:48good they're really good and it does it goes on for a little bit but then it just goes back
19:54down
19:54again yeah you seem to just go round and round in the same circles there's only so many times you
20:00keep doing that isn't there you know it is really hard seeing you upset stuff if it's having an effect
20:10on on you you've got to think you know do i have to do something yeah definitely it's very very
20:17hard
20:18even thinking about you know coming out of a relationship after so many years everything
20:24that we've built together house children all of that you've literally got to think of everything
20:30so it is not an easy process yeah it's quite difficult
20:41of all of sophie's concerns there's one that's at the top of the list
20:46how it's going to affect the kids that's the reason why we haven't really done it
20:50yet that's my main concern i don't really want to separate the family the family unit's
20:57a massive thing for me i know but then it gets to a point doesn't it where you have to
21:01think
21:02is that the right thing yeah i know if you're not happy then that's rubbing off on the kids and
21:07they're not happy either everybody wants their marriage to work don't they they want the love
21:15story and you know the happy ending and everything but unfortunately sometimes you know it doesn't for
21:21whatever reason you can tell that joe absolutely adores you yeah but sometimes that's just not enough
21:28no we have tried everything so us separating permanently would probably be better
21:37i just don't feel like i've got any other option really but it also scares me yeah
21:57can you jump in the back please three in the front two in the back all right then
22:04noel is taking sophie and the grandkids out for the day
22:07see you later it's been a difficult few weeks for the family why are we going back for this one
22:13after sophie and joe made a big decision about their marriage i would say the start me and joe you
22:19know a little bit of like no let's not let's do it let's not but we've both come to terms
22:25with the
22:25fact that me and joe are definitely finally over now that's it we're better off separating and yeah
22:35quick question where do we actually go see a man about a dog so he used to say that to
22:40me all the
22:40time when i was a kid and then there was this one day he said it and i was like
22:43oh whatever i don't
22:44believe it and he came back with a tiny cocker spaniel it's called scooby i think we called him
22:48that because he looked a bit like scooby yeah the kids have only had a short time to come to
22:54terms
22:55with their parents separation what's filming picnic noel is hoping that getting them all out of the house
23:02will help them through this difficult time who wants to put the blanket down you're going to do
23:06leo here there's nothing worse when you have to tell kids some bad news some sad news uh because
23:12you're trying shelter anything like that away from them as much as you can but you know i think part
23:20of
23:20parenting is you you do have to do that there we go there we go so it has been quite
23:25a fair few weeks
23:27now since me and joe separated with the ages that they are i can imagine it's part half the kids
23:32to
23:33understand what's actually going on it's such a difficult thing but both sophie and joe will have
23:41told them everything's going to be okay both mom and dad will love them just as much as they always
23:47do
23:47it's no that there's still mom and dad at the end of the day still the children there's no difference
23:53it's just mom and dad are going the separate ways that's all it is
23:59sad you know as joe you know we've always got on with joe it's a good laugh but you know
24:03relations do break down don't they they won't be the first they won't be the last
24:07and this does happen but when it's as close to you as it is it's sad
24:16have you saved me anything oh yeah you've got a sausage roll a sausage roll
24:26the hard bit is definitely now you know because obviously it's still quite raw having the new normal
24:31you know it's just me and the kids it's going to be very different but i'm going to make it
24:36as
24:36enjoyable for them as i possibly can with the help of granddad might not work yet their family
24:43have made a good start to their new life together thumbs yeah yeah blow it there
24:59i've got to go
25:04plan just the courthouse please as soon as possible school starts on monday for ophelia so today is
25:11millie and harley's last opportunity to change her surname yeah it was my idea to get a name
25:16change it's your job to do it and you filled in the form wrong in the first place millie's making
25:21the long journey to the family lawyer in blackburn with a stop on the way at lancaster court to get
25:27the new application stamped to add to the chaos of the day highly needs to get out of work get
25:32to me
25:33get the signs leave and get back to work and then i've got to get to blackburn
25:41i do feel really guilty that it's not being done in time for ophelia to start in school the name
25:46change i am worried that ophelia could find out one day that harley isn't a real dad right wait here
25:52i'll be as quick as i can harley are you in there i want to do that when the time's
25:59right i want to tell
26:00that the time's right well we both will tell everyone the time's right um and that's not right
26:04now so we've got a few years yet sorted blackburn as quick as you can please one down one to
26:19go
26:23back in morecambe what are you arguing over now it's rain stop play
26:27uh i'm the best cheerleader with everyone confined to barracks they're all annoying each other
26:33i'm much better than yours oh my god i'm the fastest i've beat you by two or three seconds each
26:43time me by a landslide all we're hearing in the house at the moment is i'm better than you at
26:48this
26:48i'm better than you at that he's never been wise i am the fastest he knows he's not i am
26:54kids at this
26:54edge not very good at being supportive how they sort of i think if they see somebody's weakness
26:59they're gonna jump on it so they just use that almost as a weapon against them start arguing with
27:04the other one i'm better at football than you all kicking off out here now hey me
27:14when there's only one of us around the kids seem to coordinate themselves what are you two arguing
27:19about they all seem to fall out at the same time she thinks she's smart i'm gonna fall out with
27:25this
27:25one these two are gonna fall out and the house just blends into chaos i'm in set one no she's
27:31not
27:31she's in set three and i'm in set two which means i'm smarter five x gnoll's had enough i'm definitely
27:38the best footballer soon as this weather's better gonna sort this once and for all no there's not even
27:43any doubt that i am the best he's been in circles mate
27:56well what's taking so long i don't know with harley back at work millie is running out of time to
28:02get
28:03to blackburn you need to hurry up if she misses the appointment ophelia will not be starting school
28:10as a pass more radford tell the drivers put my foot down you're on speaker
28:16hurry up put your foot down wait probably a good job he's not here
28:25hurry millie hurry
28:31thanks so much can you wait for me
28:36let's go go go the fastest i've ever walked the final hurdle millie has to overcome
28:45hi millie you all right here again it's rachel the family lawyer you always do things twice
28:50well when harley's involved yeah it's a nightmare rachel needs to check that all the documentation is now
28:57correct got the change of name deed for ophelia yeah basically renouncing her previous name yeah
29:05and replacing that previous name with the new one yeah harley's keeping his fingers crossed that a
29:12difficult conversation can be avoided because i've been there a whole life it does feel unfair that i've
29:18got to tell the truth one day that i'm not a biological dad and it will be like one of
29:23the hardest days in
29:24my life i have thought about so it's a million it does upset me because i don't want to upset
29:30ophelia
29:31but at the end of the day i am a dad still
29:36so you're happy with that correct yeah that's okay brilliant the name change is done so i hope
29:42a feeling is gonna enjoy school is she looking forward to it she's looking very forward to it
29:47yet i think she's gonna be a lawyer one day a doctor that'd be great if she was she'll love
29:53that
29:54that has been very stressful so i am so relieved we put our feet up now and it's all done
30:00in time
30:00but millie has just traded one problem harley for another my tax is gone i told it to wait for
30:07me
30:09well you're gonna have to get the train then aren't you i won't be on till tonight see you tonight
30:15then
30:24making a new start in life is never easy but it's what sophie's facing after her marriage has ended
30:33now she decided to take the next step sophie's posted that she's not with um joe anymore so now she's
30:41told
30:42everyone put it out publicly because now the whole world knows now i guess for sophie i guess now that
30:49she's put that on there it makes it now like official with joe at their house collecting more of his
30:56things
30:59sophie's staying out of the way at mum and dad's well you know you're always welcome here so anyway
31:04don't you yeah i know thank you you've always said that to be fair haven't you yeah if you won't
31:10stop
31:10over anything feeling lonely or whatever how are the kids do you know the kids are doing really well
31:20like really really good um they don't ask questions or anything like that they just sort of get on with
31:25it
31:26because you you and joe were not really getting on it was having a negative effect on the kids wasn't
31:30it yeah so i thought they'd have maybe struggled but no they've shocked me they've done really really
31:35well actually you know because they still see both of us you know they're not missing out on one parent
31:44and how are you it's definitely quite a mixture of emotions um emotional
31:51in some ways happy because you know it's come to an end but definitely up and down a lot throughout
31:58the day my anxiety has been quite bad the past few days um but it's bound to be up and
32:07down isn't it
32:08never been through this before so i don't know how long it'll go on for i think i just need
32:12to try
32:12and get into a really good routine of just like me and the kids now that's the thing it is
32:16it's your
32:16whole life turned upside down isn't it it is gonna be tough though i think sophie's at the stage
32:25where she's been brave and she's been bold she's done what she needed to do but i think she's now
32:31facing reality of what that actually means so it means an empty house financial worries and no partner
32:42you know we've had a few situations like this haven't we but this time is it's very different
32:47and now there won't be any going back i've got to just say you know enough's enough now it's not
32:55it's not very nice because obviously you marry someone to spend the rest of your life with them
32:57don't you and how's joe um and i'm sure you've had a lot of great times haven't you so it's
33:12hard
33:12seeing those times sound about the pain of the split isn't it i'm gonna go see you're just gonna
33:17have to stop for a minute
33:21it's getting to you a little bit isn't it no it is quite hard
33:31it just feels like everything's uphill doesn't it and you're climbing a mountain
33:33i just can't wait to feel happy and bubbly again yeah and a bit more normal and you will
33:40you will so definitely will so you definitely will you know you've just got to take it one
33:46step at a time haven't you yeah you know these hard days won't last for long will they and then
33:51you'll be back to your i hope lovely self put your whole future ahead of you haven't you
33:57mm-hmm but it will things will get better but yep
34:25on my way over i'll speak to you later it's been two days since nolan sue have heard from sophie
34:32and concern has been growing yeah normally we'd hear from sophie every day first thing in the
34:38morning and then when she gets home from work you'd hear from her again noel is making the 10 mile
34:43journey to check everything's okay you know this is really out of character you know since she's put
34:49it out there what's been going on and we've just not heard from her you know obviously this thing's
34:54been brewing and it's eventually it's come to a head and i i think it's harder than what sophie
34:59expected it to be it's you know it's a really difficult situation for them all to be in and
35:03it's a lot more tested than what she maybe thought it would be
35:16it has definitely been one of the most worrying times for one of our kids
35:20because normally i'm used to be able to give advice because i've normally been through lots
35:27of different things that the kids are going through but with this situation it's pretty alien to me
35:32because obviously we've not been through a marriage breakup i mean me and all have had issues
35:37over the years but you know we've always worked our way through them but this is totally different
35:42you can't just say oh they're just going to work their way through this because obviously that's
35:45not going to happen so giving advice on that has been quite hard
35:59so is she all right oh hunky dory she just wanted to take a couple of days to herself and
36:06you know get her head straight and get used to the new way of life i guess so um no
36:11she's absolutely fine
36:14so she said she'll ring uh mom later on and she says she'll ring her every day just to reassure
36:19that she's okay i'm happy now i've seen her she knows we're here for anything she ever needs and
36:24she knows that
36:30pat a cake pat a cake baker's cake try again ophelia is also beginning a new chapter of life
36:38bake me a cake as fast as you can high five you're too slow this morning is her first day
36:47at primary
36:47school let's get ready do you want to pack your pee bag first yeah right come on then yeah please
36:54yes please the five years of a failure's life i have witnessed walking talking crawling starting nursery
37:02and even bigger starting school i feel like she's going to like the real big world i feel like she
37:10gets that more of independence i think she'll love it go up your pee shorts you're like boy
37:18you're there it's time to be a grown-up right cheese for ophelia and harley she's been up since
37:26five o'clock this morning she'll love it how do you feel happy emotional they left it late but one
37:34thing has been sorted what is your name wait for it good girl i knew we'd get there come on
37:47missus
37:48it's really important to get a name change so i'm really glad we've managed to get that done before
37:53school come on then hello it is yeah she's very excited to meet you are you coming into school
38:01come on let's go i feel you went in absolutely fine just like a normal day she was yeah she
38:08was
38:09absolutely fine going and she really surprised me i thought she's not gonna let go of my hand but she
38:13did i'm confident that she's gonna be all right i'm not though i'm missing her already can you tell me
38:20about who's in your family chester and daddy and so there's three children that live at your house
38:33am i right
38:38do you want to get your running gear on
38:44faced with a tsunami of competitiveness in the house they're not running a tire noel has decided
38:51to act time to see who is on mouth and no trousers or skirts so we're gonna erase each other
38:59bragging
38:59rights are everything here even for those who should know better no point entering come second is there
39:05it's not about the winning all it's about taking part no it's all about winning all right stop watch
39:14right out of us four then what order is it going to finish in josh then me the max then
39:18dad wow
39:19dad used to run i know he did but i'm just getting into my prime now oscar as you'll see
39:25time to go big
39:26or go home well how long is it 100 meters one radford who wasn't expected to show just has oh
39:41you
39:42there i had to like drag myself out and do something for the kids i have kind of locked myself
39:48away a
39:48little bit i think because obviously everything's so different however i knew that this is the new
39:55start it's really nice to have sophie down it doesn't matter how old they are you know they're
39:59still your kids at the end of the day aren't they so and you and you worry about them no
40:02matter how old
40:03they are i think sophie's all cried out now i think the best thing we can do is just treat
40:08sophie and
40:08the kids normally it's really good for me because it gets me out the house and it gets me
40:14really doing something rather than just being cooped up at home right so what do you think you're
40:18going to do it in 100 meters i think i could probably do it in about 13 seconds you're going
40:22to do it in 13 13 yeah well okay usain bolt does it in nine i'm like nearly as fast
40:27well well
40:30hey mom's doing a warm-up class come on shake it check it check it while you do the
40:35today is about sorting out the arguing all the little ones are going to do their race and then the
40:41the older ones are going to do the second race in control of the stopwatch is tilly i'm the start
40:49the race lady and the end the race lady and the timer lady just remember if i cross first tilly
40:53knock
40:53a few seconds off that'll do you join us for the under 14's 100 meters classic some of the finest
41:03athletic specimens morgan has ever seen couldn't make it so we let this lot have a go instead
41:15go so the kids race leo archie daisy and casper they shot off daisy was winning
41:22was it casper and then leo and archie sort of lagging behind
41:30daisy no casper won that one i meant you
41:35who's this and then you you'll walk and run in with heidi we crossed that finish line though
41:42you did eventually it's the last event of the day the one we've all been waiting for
41:49the veterans race so at school i was very athletic yeah i was third in the district
41:54hurdles as well sophie how long ago were you last at school how many years
41:5915 years ago there's over 130 years of experience on that start line no hang on flag
42:08oh my god this is going to be one of the smoothest professional races that you are ever likely to
42:14see ready set go what was that extra word she said oh my god just be on time
42:24they are veterans after all let's give them one more chance the selfish has had such a tough time
42:30i think this is written in the stars that she's going to win this race
42:39hi
42:46josh's fastest ranford closely followed by max then there's a bit of a distance for me and then sophie
42:53she may have finished last but sophie is today's real winner i've come to realize that since having
42:59children i'm no longer a saint it's definitely really really nice to have such a unique and
43:06lovely family during such a difficult time so they can't make things right but they definitely do make
43:12everything so much better i was in front of you and then you both run into my lane when you
43:16are an elite
43:17athlete everybody else's lane okay it's hard to accept that you just plain lost
43:27my family they've literally just been there been there for me basically and that's all i've ever
43:31wanted that's good laugh though yeah it was good bye darling love you i think seeing her laughing and
43:36joking and having a good time has been really nice absolutely fantastic every single one of them in
43:42their own little ways as well so in conclusion when there's growing pain laughter is the best medicine
43:50oh my god who writes this stuff life was much simpler when you're a child next time when you scrolled
44:00your life is more i guess stressful josh has had a funny turn says he can't breathe i never would
44:07have
44:07guessed i'd have the problems i have now it's hard to say like oh i'm struggling he's stopped accessing
44:14life outside of the home that would qualify a diagnosis of agoraphobia i do hope that me doing
44:20this does give people courage to also open up and ask someone for help i guess the rapids are back
