00:10We are in the United Kingdom at the Silverstone Circuit crossing the borders between two counties and providing a fascinating
00:18challenge of fast sweeping curves, several tight sections, long straights and unpredictable weather.
00:27We're all set for the start of the British Grand Prix. Halfway through the 2024 season.
00:34Lights out, away we go. George Russell gets a good getaway. Lewis Hamilton tucks in behind. Watch out for Max
00:40Verstappen on the inside of Lando Norris behind.
00:43But George Russell comfortably through the first corner into turns two and three.
00:47And Verstappen has to keep a little bit of an eye on Piastri behind him. Lando Norris now putting pressure
00:52on Hamilton but runs a wheel over the curve.
00:54Yeah, Verstappen's got the outside line. That works really well for Max Verstappen. He gets in front of the McLaren.
01:00And he's going to have a chance of passing Lewis Hamilton immediately as well.
01:03Lewis checks the mirror down the Wellington straight here towards Brooklands and he doesn't need to go defensive.
01:08Verstappen though has made a crucial pass there on Norris.
01:10Yeah, that is absolutely crucial. It was a clean pass too after all the incidents they had last time out

01:15But Norris is not going to give up. Piastri is right there with him.
01:18I tell you what though, this is good pace immediately from the Mercedes.
01:21Both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton are easing away a little bit, if anything.

01:30And now they're into the adrenaline action of this Silverstone lap.
01:34Copse, Maggots and Beckett sweeping through the high speed.
01:37And look, Hamilton is able to stay really close in the dirty air, applying pressure to his teammate.
01:42And Verstappen's going with him.
01:43And then there's a slight bigger break to Lando Norris.
01:47Now let's have a look. Norris goes to the outside of Hamilton.
01:50Verstappen is on his apex.
01:52Norris is a little bit wide and then he just gets blocked in behind Lewis Hamilton on the inside of
01:57Turn 4.
01:57And it's a nice position for Verstappen to sweep around the outside.
02:00A lovely move from Max.
02:01Yeah, Lando just puts himself in a bit of a precarious position there with Lewis Hamilton.
02:06Nowhere near alongside to commit to that on the outside.
02:09He was just drifting wide and Max picked up the pieces nicely.
02:13Now let's see what's the contact here for Alex Albon.

02:18So it was in the melee with Hülkenberg, but it was actually Fernando Alonso that he hit.

02:40And then you see Max in the background drifting away from the top two.
02:44And if the Mercedes could put a gap here, they'd give themselves a bit of margin.
02:48Rain expected in seven laps, lasting for ten minutes.
02:51And if it's heavy rain, ten minutes of it is going to really change things.
02:56Charles Leclerc still keeping the pressure on the green Aston Martin as they head down

03:01And Charles Leclerc has a good dive down the inside this time.
03:04And Stroll didn't seem to fight that too hard.

03:15Norris is within DRS range of Verstappen.
03:17So he's choosing this time to try and close the gap and up the pressure on Max,
03:21who's three seconds away from the Mercedes.

03:31We saw so many battles last time out in Austria.
03:34And sadly it went wrong in the contact that happened between them.

03:41At the moment they're not fighting for the win.
03:42But who knows how this might work out as we go through the change in weather conditions.
03:46And for now Max is holding him off.

03:58And as we saw yesterday Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen both had issues going into this next corner in qualifying.

04:12If he can hold this through the high speed.

04:16But it will give him a chance into Stowe at the end of the hangar straight.

07:46When you're off the road at high speed there, you just want to get back to the track.

09:37We're back on board with Piastri trying to get past Lewis Hamilton.

09:42That is a bit of a risky area.
09:43But he will be into a very, very good zone as they go down towards Stowe.
