00:00Beautiful performance.
00:01Thank you so much.
00:02What did you think when they called you and they asked you to be a part of the Oscar?
00:06To be a part of something like Sinners and the incredible cinematography
00:14and that scene in particular in the film, I was like,
00:18yes, I'm going to somehow make this happen, even though I'm not dancing at the moment.
00:22I know, you had a little surgery.
00:25Yeah, so I put my pointe shoes on a couple days ago.
00:28And how'd it go?
00:30I mean, it went beautifully, but I mean, physically.
00:33Fine.
00:33You know, I did like three steps.
00:38Three steps from Missy Coblin is like, you know, let's go.
00:42No, it was such an honor to be on this stage and to share this stage with so much incredible
00:46talent.
00:47And I'm just so proud of Michael B. Jordan and that he, yeah, took home Best Actor.
00:53Got to talk to you about Timothy.
00:55What's your message to Timothy?
00:56What do you want to tell me about that?
00:58You know, he knows.
00:59He grew up, he had the privilege of growing up and seeing it firsthand.
01:05And to me, it's really about educating people about the importance of it in our society and that it does
01:12play a huge role in it.
01:13And it impacts so many other art forms.
01:16And it's really about, I think, arts education and dance education and getting it to communities that wouldn't otherwise have
01:22access and opportunity to be exposed to it to show that we do care about it.
01:26And it is important.
01:27Such a part of New York City.
01:29It is.
01:29That is true.
01:30It's a part of just, I mean, the world and having an impact on culture and arts in general.
