00:00We can talk about the In Memoriam.
00:02The In Memoriam, that's the middle of the show.
00:05That's when I usually go get my, you know, second beer.
00:08They really went all out for a memoriam,
00:09considering all the big stars lost.
00:11Yeah, we lost a lot of Hollywood legends this year.
00:14Gene Hackman, Diane Keaton, you know, obviously Rob Reiner.
00:18Catherine O'Hara.
00:19Catherine O'Hara.
00:20We had Billy Crystal gave a very beautiful speech.
00:25Barbara Streisand performed.
00:27She was one of the times, by the way.
00:29She was one of the people that was a tie back in the day.
00:32Yes, it was. Barbara Streisand and Catherine Hepburn.
00:34They won a tie.
00:35Yes, who could forget?
00:38Have to be there.
00:40Barbara does not normally sing live unless you're paying top dollar.
00:44She doesn't even leave her house anymore unless it's for top dollar moments,
00:48which is good for her.
00:49So Robert Redford, I mean, she had described him
00:52as like one of the great loves of her life.
00:53And, you know, and he, of course, changed Hollywood
00:56by bringing independent film into the forefront with Sundance.
01:00So it was a really a huge loss for Hollywood.
01:02It was just cool to see.
01:03I always love it when they bring out the old legends.
01:05Yeah.
01:05Did you cry?
01:06Are you cryers?
01:06Of course.
01:07I was sobbing.
01:08And I think just the Rob Reiner moment,
01:10just considering how icky that has transpired,
01:14the way that him and his wife were obviously murdered,
01:16allegedly by their son.
01:17And it's just, it's almost hard to watch a little considering the details.
01:20And seeing all the careers, the actors, you know,
01:23when the curtain came up and we saw all the actors
01:25that were just mentioned in his biggest films,
01:27I got chills.
01:28I have chills right now.
01:29Why are you saying that?
01:30Their careers were completely changed by some of these movies.
01:33He had such a great sense of humor
01:34and made movies like The Princess Bride
01:37that is many people's favorite movie of all time.
01:39I mean, he just, he made comedies
01:41and he made them have wide appeal.
01:44And you don't, the Oscars is not known
01:46for having a great sense of humor.
01:48It's known for like, I'm crying, give me my Oscar.
01:51And then, you know, Rob Reiner was just a gem.
01:54He was just a light.
01:55He really was.
01:56And his wife too, you know, produced a lot of his films.
01:58And yeah, it was a tough part of the show to watch.
02:03Yeah, you know, watching that,
02:03that made me think about and kind of reflect
02:05on old Hollywood and how people are not stars
02:07in the same way that they were back in those days.
02:10And like the Barbra Streisens of the world and stuff,
02:12not that she passed away, but she was there
02:14just honoring them.
02:15That was beautiful to see.
02:16And it just made me kind of nostalgic for that era.
02:19Yeah, definitely.
02:20And it was such a unique way to do it too.
02:23They've never done it that way.
02:24I feel like we, I don't know,
02:25maybe it's the loss of like a disconnection
02:27between like how we feel about movies
02:29or how movies are making us feel
02:30or film and television in general.
02:33Like we, I don't feel as connected to the shows
02:35that I'm watching today as I did like in the past.
02:37Right, like all the more as you mentioned.
02:38It's social media, I think, changed everything.
02:40And streaming and just things come out
02:42and you talk about it and then you forget about it.
02:43And then you move on.
02:44It's the pace of it.
02:44And it's just the medium is very different.
02:45Right.
02:45And it's very different.
