The slave trade was carried out in a variety of ways. Among the Africans who landed on the shores of the Americas, many were chiefs (royals) who invited to visit the ship as honorable guests. The slave traders first lured the chiefs and his entourage into their vessel, and then they brutally dragged the people attending the event into the ship and sailed off with the human cargo.
