Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome. It's day 19 of the West Asia war. A day where we've seen some rapid development, some
00:08would say even escalation.
00:11On one hand, you had the US bomb, the state of Hormuz, with perhaps one of its strongest missiles so
00:17far.
00:18On the other, you had Iran come out in full force to actually mourn the death of their leader.
00:24One after the other in these 19 days, we've seen heads of states and also several leadership in Iran collapse.
00:34Yet, Iran does not collapse. What exactly is happening there? And what is the game plan? What next in this
00:42war?
00:43Over the next one hour, we'll be cutting across live to our reporters who join us from the war zone,
00:49people who have seen it live, the impact, the extent of the war with their own eyes,
00:54and also with our reporters here in the studio to give us a sense of what's to come next.
01:00But first, let's take a look at all the other headlines at this hour.
01:06Iran holds a massive funeral for the slain security chief Ali Larijani.
01:12It vows a vengeance, also mourns the loss of Basij commander and Reina crew in central Tehran.
01:19Those pictures, absolutely spectacular of a country together and united, mourning its leader.
01:27Another big blow to Iran.
01:29Israel says it has eliminated Iran's intelligence minister, Ismail Khatib, in airstrikes.
01:35However, the Iranian authorities are yet to confirm his death.
01:41A big diplomatic win for India amid the ongoing West Asia war.
01:46The Russia oil-laden tanker bound to China has taken a U-turn in South China Sea
01:51and is now heading to India as New Delhi doubles down on imports from Moscow.
01:59While that happens, rupee has come down to an all-time low against the dollar.
02:05As the Iran war rages on, the currency has weakened to 92.54 per US dollar,
02:11surpassing last week's record low of 92.47 in global markets,
02:17grappling with the fallout from the conflict.
02:21After Bhupan Bora, another Congress Neta, Pratyut Bordoloy, jumped ship, joins the BJP.
02:28He has now been inducted by Imanta.
02:30Delhi is in Delhi.
02:32And also, Pratyut is likely to contest election from this poor Assembly constituency.
02:37Congress calls his decision unfortunate.
02:43A three-way fight for Tamil Nadu is now confirmed,
02:46which is the TVK declares that now the party will fight elections on 234 seats alone,
02:53finally ending the speculations of tie-ups with NDA or Congress.
03:00Relief of flyers ahead of the government crackdown in the hidden charges
03:04and also pushing airlines to prioritise passengers.
03:08It has now capped seat selection fee on flights,
03:11ordering airlines to ensure that 60% of the seats there are free of cost.
03:19Sarali Khan's Kedarnath visit now under scrutiny amid new rule.
03:24Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee says that
03:27Sarali Khan must submit proof of faith as Sanatani to visit.
03:31And the actor had, remember, visited Badrinath and Kedarnath Temple.
03:35In fact, she's not new to it.
03:37She's been visiting it every year.
03:40Hours after Norafati's song was officially banned,
03:44actor-dancer, Norafati has addressed the controversy now
03:49surrounding her song from the upcoming Karnada film,
03:51Keddie the Devil clarifying that she was unaware of the Hindi version
03:55that sparked the backlash.
03:58And as Aarandar, The Revenge hits theatres.
04:01Director Aditya Dhar has made a request
04:03asking audiences not to share spoilers after watching the movie.
04:07Meanwhile, the film has amassed 123 crore rupees globally
04:11from premiere and just day one bookings.
04:23All right, let's start with the big development at this hour.
04:26The Israel-Iran war has taken a decisive turn,
04:29one that leaves little room for de-escalation.
04:32Iran is now mourning the loss of Ali Larijani,
04:35one of the most powerful figures in its system,
04:38killed in Israeli airstrikes.
04:40Look at those pictures over there to understand
04:42how tall, how huge and just how powerful this leader was.
04:48Large crowds gathered in Tehran for his funeral,
04:52underlining the scale of the loss of Iran's leadership.
04:55Larijani was central pillar, remember,
04:57of establishment for decades.
04:59He worked closely with the Supreme Leader,
05:01Ali Khamenei, and also played a key role
05:03in the national security and foreign policy.
05:06His death comes at a time when Iran's top leadership
05:08has already been hit hard,
05:10with multiple senior figures eliminated in recent strikes.
05:13And yet, the country stands together and still at war.
05:21Tel Aviv now claims that it has also assassinated
05:24Iran's intelligence minister, Ismail Khatib,
05:27a key figure.
05:28The country's security apparatus and someone
05:30seem very close to Khamenei Jr. as well.
05:35Meanwhile, the biggest uncertainty in Middle East
05:39is not just what Iran will do next,
05:41but who is actually in charge?
05:43After a series of devastating strikes
05:45and eliminating key powerful centres,
05:48Iran's leadership structure appears shaken
05:50and opaque yet,
05:53standing on its feet somehow.
05:55So here are the 10 big questions that we've got for you
05:58and one that we will try to answer on the programme today.
06:01Number one, the obvious one,
06:03who is running Iran today?
06:05Number two, is the regime stable
06:07or fracturing from within?
06:09Number three, has the Revolutionary Guard
06:13become the real power centre in the country?
06:17And then the question,
06:18can Iran really sustain a prolonged war of this magnitude?
06:22What exactly is the cost of war that they are facing?
06:26Number five, what is Tehran's actual objective at the moment?
06:30What are they after?
06:32What's that one thing that will make this war stop?
06:35Then, number six, how far is United States willing to go?
06:40Because remember, constant escalations have been coming in
06:42from United States as well,
06:44at least three that we've seen in the past 24 hours.
06:47Number seven then,
06:48will this conflict spread across the region?
06:51So far, we've seen no more players jumping into it,
06:55but will they if it were to escalate further?
06:57Number eight,
06:57Is the nuclear threshold now about to shift?
07:02Number nine,
07:03what is really happening inside Iran amongst ordinary citizens?
07:07We don't know because no Indian journalist has got a visa
07:10to go and understand what's the reality in Iran at the moment.
07:14So that's in the dark at the moment.
07:16And then finally,
07:17what is the worst case scenario from here?
07:20Are we looking at a war that will not escalate,
07:24but keep at it?
07:2519 already,
07:27but how many more days will this war really take?
07:31The answer to all these questions
07:32is what we'll try to decipher on the program today.
07:35Joining us will be our reporters
07:38who know the story inside out.
07:40Joining me,
07:42joining me will be Shweta Singh.
07:44She joins us right there from Tel Aviv.
07:47Also, our colleague Ashraf is there in Lebanon.
07:50And even in Beirut,
07:51he'll be joining us very shortly.
07:53With me in the studio is Pranay.
07:55Also, Gaurav Savant,
07:57all of whom we've been covering,
07:58they've been covering different aspects of the story.
08:01But before we go into all of them,
08:03take a look at this report
08:04to understand how day 19 has been so far
08:08and what is likely to happen next.
08:18After the elimination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
08:21the top leadership of Iran is dropping like nine pins.
08:24In a fresh blow to Iran,
08:26top security chief Ali Larijani
08:29has been killed in an Israeli airstrike.
08:31Larijani was widely seen
08:33as the regime's de facto leader in the vacuum.
08:36Considered close to new supreme leader,
08:39Mujtaba Khamenei,
08:40Larijani was killed inside his daughter's home,
08:43north-east of Tehran,
08:44along with his son,
08:46Murtijal Larijani,
08:47his deputy,
08:48Ali Reza Bayat,
08:49and several guards.
08:52Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu
08:54announced about the military operation.
08:59This morning we eliminated Ali Larijani.
09:02Ali Larijani is the boss of the Revolutionary Guards,
09:04which is a gang of gangsters
09:06that in practice runs Iran.
09:08Alongside him,
09:09we have also eliminated
09:10the commander of the Basij,
09:11the helpers of the gangsters
09:13who spread terror in the streets of Tehran
09:14and other Iranian cities
09:16against the population.
09:17We are operating there as well,
09:19operating from the air
09:21with the Air Force aircraft
09:22and with UAVs.
09:27This elimination comes
09:29days after Larijani challenged Trump
09:31and said that Iran will not
09:33let the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei go.
09:59The funeral of Ali Larijani
10:01and his son Murtijal Larijani
10:03will be held in Iran.
10:08The death of Ali Larijani
10:10removes a key architect
10:11of Iran's strategy,
10:12raising questions about
10:14who is next in line.
10:15However, Iran seems confident
10:17that their system
10:18will not collapse.
10:22Iran's Foreign Minister
10:23Abbas Arachi stressed
10:25that Iran's system
10:26is built on strong institutions,
10:28not individuals,
10:30and therefore cannot be destabilised.
10:35Iran is carrying out
10:37relentless strikes at Israel
10:39to avenge the killings
10:40of Ali Larijani.
10:41Iran fired missiles
10:42carrying cluster warheads
10:44at Tel Aviv,
10:45leaving a trail of destruction.
10:51With Iran's top strategies gone,
10:53the question now is
10:54who steps into the void?
10:56Bureau Report,
10:58India Today.
10:59Shaheed Dr. Larijani.
11:02So you hear that,
11:04brick, you know,
11:05like brick after brick,
11:06layer after layer
11:07of the leadership
11:08in Iran,
11:09we see in these 19 days
11:11has gone,
11:11yet the country stands tall.
11:13We don't know
11:14what is the state of affairs
11:15at the moment,
11:15but they are fighting on.
11:17So let's understand
11:18the situation now
11:19with our reporters.
11:20Let me welcome
11:21Shweta Singh,
11:22joining us from
11:22Tel Aviv, Israel.
11:24Ashravani
11:25from Behrut, Lebanon.
11:27Also with me in the studio
11:28is Gaurav Sawant
11:29and Pranay Upadhyay.
11:30Let me give the first word
11:31to Shweta.
11:32Shweta, at the moment,
11:34the latest development
11:35has been those visuals
11:37that we saw
11:38of the funeral
11:39of Larijani
11:40that took place.
11:41Never before
11:42have we seen
11:43such crazy pictures
11:44come out
11:45of the country.
11:47Is that,
11:48what exactly
11:49is the reaction
11:49you're picking up
11:50in Tel Aviv
11:51with the response there
11:52or to the funeral
11:53at the moment?
11:57Sonal, I'm in Jerusalem
11:58right now
11:59and in fact,
12:00the Palestinian territory
12:01in front of me.
12:03Israel has never
12:04been apologetic
12:05about what it does
12:06and when Larijani
12:07was killed
12:08and Israel
12:09made the announcement,
12:10the president here
12:11said that,
12:12and I would like
12:13to quote him,
12:14I will remind people
12:15about Ali Larijani.
12:16In 2006,
12:17there was the second
12:17Lebanon war.
12:18How did it start?
12:19by the kidnapping
12:20of two Israeli soldiers
12:21who were doing
12:22their patrol
12:22on the border.
12:23Ali Larijani
12:24that morning
12:25took a flight
12:25out of Lebanon.
12:26Now, he was
12:27the National Security
12:28Council head
12:30of Iran
12:31and it was always
12:34said that he went
12:35there to plan
12:35the operation
12:36with Nasrullah.
12:37So now,
12:38Israel is actually
12:40and the Israelis
12:41as well,
12:41I must tell you
12:43that they are
12:45completely standing
12:46in solidarity
12:47with their government.
12:49They feel
12:49everybody who has
12:50wronged them,
12:51this is the time
12:51to actually
12:53get rid of Hezbollah
12:54and all the people
12:56in Iran,
12:56they identify
12:57as their enemies
12:59who have been
13:00instrumental
13:01in kidnappings
13:02of soldiers,
13:03in terror attacks
13:04in Israel.
13:05So right now,
13:07it is just a matter
13:09of while America,
13:12I would say,
13:15thinks about
13:16what other people,
13:17other countries
13:18are thinking about
13:19Israel has never
13:20been apologetic,
13:21they are just
13:22taking whatever
13:23step they wish
13:25they find correct.
13:27Sunal.
13:28They have never
13:29been apologetic
13:30at the moment
13:30and that's what
13:31Shweta is also
13:32picking up from there.
13:33Let me also go to
13:33Ashraf at the moment.
13:34Ashraf,
13:34we've been looking
13:35at some reports
13:35of yours that you
13:37sent us a little
13:37while ago and we
13:39saw that you were
13:39right where all
13:41the action did
13:42happen and when
13:42I say that,
13:43I mean there were
13:44some very heavy
13:46bombings that took
13:46place right there.
13:47At the moment,
13:48tell us where are
13:49you exactly and
13:50what's the situation
13:51on day 19?
13:55Yes, Sunal,
13:56I'm actually for
13:57the last 15 days
13:58covering this war
13:59here in Lebanon,
14:00but this was the
14:01first day,
14:01Wednesday,
14:02when I saw some
14:02kind of a different
14:03scenario across the
14:05Beirut city,
14:06which is the capital
14:06of the Lebanon.
14:08At least 15
14:10aerial strikes were
14:12conducted by the
14:12IDF in the area,
14:14which is known as
14:15the safe area here
14:16in the Beirut.
14:17Four of them were
14:18where people were
14:19not told that they
14:20are going to target
14:21a specific building,
14:23but one building,
14:24which was earlier
14:24brought down by
14:26Israeli missile,
14:29that there was the
14:30warning given by the
14:31IDF,
14:31but on other
14:32four places which
14:33were surrounding
14:34that particular area,
14:38almost five
14:39kilometers to six
14:40kilometers,
14:40where the
14:41assassination has
14:43been carried out
14:43by the IDF.
14:44During last one week,
14:45we are seeing that
14:46the assassination
14:47operations are in
14:49full swing by the
14:50IDF, not only in
14:51Tehran and Iran,
14:52but also here in
14:53Lebanon.
14:54They are not
14:54targeting the
14:55Hezbollah leaders.
14:56Most of the
14:56leaders of the
14:57Hezbollah had been
14:57already wiped out
14:59during the 2024
15:00war, but now we
15:01are seeing that
15:02they are also
15:03targeting the
15:03leaders of
15:05Hezbollah with
15:06IRGC commanders
15:07because IRGC is
15:08working in
15:09coordination with
15:09Hezbollah, and
15:10also the leaders
15:11from the Hamas
15:12and other
15:14Palestinian-associated
15:15groups.
15:16So this is a
15:17change of strategy
15:19because there is
15:19a motive behind
15:20it.
15:21Israel thinks that
15:22this Hezbollah is
15:24at the weakest
15:24point because Iran
15:25is already in war.
15:26They could not
15:27help them to that
15:29extent what they
15:30were helping them
15:31earlier because there
15:31was a flow flow of
15:32weapons and
15:33everything from
15:34Iran to Lebanon
15:36when there was
15:37Bashar al-Assad
15:38governing Syria,
15:39but now the
15:40regime has been
15:40changed already in
15:41Syria by U.S.,
15:43and now that
15:44thing is getting
15:45difficult for the
15:46Hezbollah.
15:46But assessing the
15:47Hezbollah was not
15:49so much done by the
15:50idea.
15:51They thought that
15:51probably they have
15:52not that kind of
15:53weaponry with which
15:54they could respond,
15:55but we have seen
15:56during the last 15
15:57days of war, which
15:58started on 2nd of
15:59March here in Lebanon
16:00between Hezbollah
16:01and Israel, the
16:03quantum and the
16:04volume of the
16:05drones, the volume
16:07of the strikes and
16:08missiles and also
16:09those of high
16:10caliber are being
16:11fired on a regular
16:12basis towards the
16:13northern parts of
16:14Israel and many in
16:16the central parts of
16:17Israel.
16:17So that is worrying
16:18something among the
16:20Israeli establishments.
16:21But one thing is
16:22that the planning is
16:23the ground invasion,
16:24which has been
16:24started on the
16:27few days back.
16:28And this ground
16:29invasion is not
16:30first time done by
16:31the IDF in the
16:32Lebanon.
16:33In 2006, they
16:34were removed, IDF
16:36soldiers from the
16:37southern Lebanon
16:38with the intervention
16:39of France and
16:39US.
16:40Now they again think
16:42that probably this is
16:43the time when they
16:44should conduct the
16:45way operations they
16:46conducted in the
16:47Gaza here in the
16:49Lebanon to vanish
16:50and to degrade the
16:53Hezbollah here in
16:54Lebanon.
16:55All right, Ashraf and
16:56Shweta, stay on
16:57with that.
16:57I'll come back to you,
16:58but there's a breaking
16:58news coming in and
16:59this is an update
17:00from Donald Trump.
17:01So let's quickly
17:01dip into that and
17:02take that as well.
17:03We're now hearing
17:04that Donald Trump
17:06had doubled down
17:07on his allies
17:07amidst war.
17:09On Truth Social,
17:11he went on to say
17:12that, I wonder what
17:13would happen if we
17:14finished off what's
17:16left of the Iranian
17:17terror state and let
17:19the countries that
17:20use it.
17:21We don't be
17:23responsible, I think
17:23he says, we won't
17:24be responsible for the
17:26so-called strait.
17:28What would we get
17:29some of the non-responsive
17:31allies in Gair and
17:32Fast?
17:34Well, a bit, you
17:36know, it's Donald
17:37Trump's tweet or one
17:38can say his social
17:39post, so one has to
17:40read it with a pinch
17:41of salt and one has
17:42to also give it a bit
17:43of an understanding.
17:44But let me get that
17:45understanding with my
17:46colleague Gaurav
17:46Savant.
17:47Gaurav, what are you
17:47making of this latest
17:48update?
17:49So the American
17:50president is very upset.
17:51He's very upset NATO
17:52allies are not with
17:53him, he'd expected
17:56that the moment he
17:57gives a call, so
17:58whether it's United
17:58Kingdom or Japan in
18:00the Far East or France
18:02in Germany, they will
18:04send their flotilla,
18:05they will send their
18:05warships to protect
18:06the Strait of Hormuz
18:07and almost all of
18:08them, Japan, despite
18:09needing almost 80%
18:11plus of their energy
18:12needs through the
18:13Strait of Hormuz,
18:14would rather talk to
18:15Iran than send in
18:17their ships.
18:18South Korea is not
18:19keen, Britain is not
18:20keen, France is not
18:21keen, Germany is not
18:22keen and President Trump
18:23is feeling very left
18:24out.
18:24When I interviewed
18:25Ambassador John
18:26Bolton, former
18:27National Security
18:27Advisor of the
18:28United States just
18:29yesterday, he said
18:30this is where
18:31President Trump in
18:32his appreciation had
18:33goofed up big time.
18:34He should have
18:35spoken to all the
18:36allies first, whether
18:37it's NATO, G7,
18:39allies in Far East
18:40or even India and
18:41then mobilized and
18:42then gone in for
18:43this operation.
18:44He went alone,
18:46realized he couldn't
18:47do it, then sought
18:48help and now no help
18:49is coming.
18:50So he's very angry,
18:51he's very frustrated.
18:52All right.
18:53Pranik, quick
18:54word from you on
18:54this one.
18:55I completely agree
18:56with Gaurab.
18:57Definitely US
18:58President Donald
18:59Trump has reasons
19:00to be miffed with
19:01these NATO allies
19:02but there is a
19:02reason behind it.
19:03Look, you know,
19:04President Donald
19:05Trump came to
19:06office with a lot
19:06of complaints
19:07against NATO,
19:08US commitments,
19:09that how much
19:10US has done for
19:10these countries and
19:11how thankless they
19:13have been and
19:13there are other
19:14issues as well.
19:15Europe has priority
19:16towards the eastern
19:17flank of Europe in
19:19Russia-Ukraine war
19:19front and these
19:21countries are already
19:22stretched.
19:22So they are not
19:23keen to commit
19:24their military
19:25resources in the
19:26Gulf of Persia or
19:28the state of
19:28Hormuz and
19:29definitely President
19:30Donald Trump
19:30might be trying to
19:33make it a
19:33multinational effort.
19:34Just 35 years
19:35ago, Sonal,
19:36when US President
19:37George W. Bush
19:38Senior went to
19:40Kuwait against
19:40Saddam Hussein,
19:41there was a
19:42coalition of
19:42willing of 35
19:43nations and now
19:45it's only Israel
19:46and United States.
19:48Shweta, let me
19:49get you a quick
19:49comment over here.
19:50The way the war is
19:51going at the
19:52moment and
19:53Donald Trump's
19:53tweets, you know,
19:54one can say he
19:55changes his mind a
19:56bit too often at
19:58the moment and
19:59talks about whether
19:59or not he needs
20:00international support
20:01but it seems like a
20:02grumpy tweet, right,
20:03at the moment on
20:04what he's saying.
20:05Is that the sense?
20:07Is that the sense
20:08that you're picking up
20:09from where you are
20:10as well?
20:13You know, there's a
20:14lot of love for
20:15Donald Trump in
20:16Israel, as you
20:17would understand.
20:18There have been
20:18posters I've seen.
20:21We thank God
20:22and Donald Trump.
20:24So these are the
20:24posters that you
20:25will see on the
20:26streets of Israel
20:26and rightly so
20:28because at this
20:29time, Israel is
20:31actually addressing
20:32its enemies as
20:33Ashraf also put
20:34it.
20:34This is the time
20:35when Hezbollah
20:36can be actually
20:37finished once and
20:39for all.
20:39It can be pushed
20:40right behind the
20:42river litany
20:43which has been
20:44a long-standing
20:45demand of Israel
20:46and while France
20:48may stand up
20:49now and say
20:49that I think
20:51it is not correct
20:53to think that
20:53Lebanon can
20:54disarm Hezbollah
20:55but Israel is
20:57seeing it as a
20:58huge opportunity
20:59and all thanks
20:59to the American
21:00president.
21:01So one place
21:02where the American
21:03president has fans
21:05and friends is
21:06Israel right now
21:07because he has
21:09lived up to his
21:10promise of
21:11standing with
21:11Israel as far
21:13as attacking
21:14Iran for the
21:15stability of
21:17this entire area.
21:18So I think
21:19there are no
21:22two things when
21:23you talk about
21:24Donald Trump and
21:25Israel right now.
21:26Sunil.
21:27All right.
21:28Shweta, let me
21:28move on and
21:29Ashraf also continues
21:30to be with us.
21:31But let me move
21:32on.
21:32We've understood
21:32all the latest
21:33developments that
21:34are happening on
21:34day 19 of the
21:36war at the moment.
21:36but let's move
21:37on to understand
21:38a little bit in
21:39detail about what's
21:40happening and what's
21:41about to happen
21:41next.
21:42Now, Iran's entire
21:43leadership has been
21:44dismantled in this
21:45war.
21:46In a series of
21:47precise strikes,
21:48Israel has
21:48eliminated key
21:49figures across
21:50Iran's political,
21:51military and
21:52security establishment.
21:54Why I'm stressing
21:55on them?
21:55Because their
21:55structure is a
21:56little more
21:56complicated than
21:58how you and I
21:58look at a
21:59country or an
22:00estate.
22:01We'll come back
22:01to that with
22:02Pranir also in
22:02just a minute.
22:03But let's
22:04understand the
22:04massive void at
22:06the very top that
22:07already exists.
22:08Here's a closer
22:09look at the top
22:10Iranian leaders who
22:11have been killed.
22:11There's the Supreme
22:12Leader, Ali
22:13Khamnani, Iran's
22:14highest authority of
22:15over three decades.
22:16He's been the
22:17ultimate decision
22:17maker on military,
22:18nuclear, foreign
22:19policy.
22:20His son,
22:20Mujtaba Khamenei
22:21has taken over,
22:22but he too has
22:24reportedly suffered
22:25major injuries as
22:26well.
22:26We haven't seen a
22:27glimpse of him ever
22:29since his entire
22:29family was wiped
22:31off.
22:32In fact, you
22:32see the entire
22:34city there,
22:35entire country
22:36flooding in.
22:37For the morning,
22:38we did not even
22:39see a procession
22:40come out when
22:40their big leader,
22:42that is Ali
22:43Khamnani,
22:44actually went on.
22:45So what exactly
22:45is happening,
22:46we look into
22:46those details as
22:47well.
22:47Then who else?
22:48Defence Minister
22:49Aziz Nazirudda,
22:51key figure,
22:52overseeing Iran's
22:53defence forces.
22:54He was amongst
22:55the first high
22:55profile officials
22:56eliminated.
22:57There is also
22:57the senior security
22:59officer, that is
23:00Ali.
23:01Sham Khani, he
23:02played a central
23:03role in national
23:04security strategy
23:05as well,
23:06coordinated Iran's
23:07regional posture.
23:08There is also
23:09the IRGC chief,
23:11that is
23:12Mohammed Pakpour.
23:13He also led
23:14the Islamic
23:15Revolutionary
23:15Guard Corps,
23:16the backbone of
23:17Iran's military
23:18operations and
23:18also regional
23:19influence.
23:20Then of course
23:21there is the
23:22armed forces
23:22chief there,
23:24senior intelligence
23:25figure,
23:25Saleh Asadi as
23:26well, all of
23:27them are leaders
23:29which in 19
23:30days have been
23:30wiped off.
23:31The military
23:32bureau chief,
23:33Mohammed Shirazi
23:34as well,
23:34the SPND chairman,
23:36Hussain Jabal,
23:37there is the
23:38former SPND chairman
23:40as well,
23:40Iran's security
23:41chief as well,
23:43Lari Jani,
23:44who we spoke
23:44about was the
23:45one who was
23:45practically running
23:46the affairs there
23:47but now Iran has
23:48confirmed and we
23:49saw those morning
23:50pictures there as
23:51well.
23:51There is the
23:52Basij commander
23:54Golub Reza,
23:55that we heard
23:56the news about
23:56that coming just
23:57a couple of
23:58hours ago.
23:58He led the
24:00Basij, a key
24:01paramilitary force
24:02used by internal
24:02security and
24:03mobilization as
24:04well.
24:04So in all,
24:05what is the
24:06point of telling
24:06you this entire
24:07list?
24:08The point is to
24:09say when all
24:10these leaders at
24:12key levels,
24:13political,
24:14security,
24:15also military,
24:16if all of
24:17them have been
24:19wiped off in a
24:21way in this
24:21war,
24:22who's running
24:23Iran?
24:24What's happening?
24:25How do they
24:25continue to fight
24:27still?
24:27Let me take that
24:28question to
24:29Gaurav Sawant.
24:30Gaurav Sawant,
24:30help me understand
24:31this.
24:31This is the
24:32question that is
24:33practically on
24:33everybody's mind,
24:34right?
24:35This is what
24:35Donald Trump
24:36also gets.
24:37So if I can
24:39say, you know,
24:39loses his temper
24:40over that we
24:41viped off,
24:42we've ensured
24:43that the entire
24:44leadership goes,
24:45etc.
24:45But the
24:45country still
24:46stands.
24:47It goes back
24:48into talking
24:48about those
24:49basic things of
24:50political science,
24:50right?
24:51That taking
24:52away the
24:52head of the
24:53country does
24:54not mean that
24:55you've managed
24:55to dismantle or
24:56taken over the
24:57country yourself.
24:58You know,
24:59Iran had
25:00wargamed this
25:01watching the
25:02operations in
25:04Desert Storm
25:042003 when they
25:05saw the moment
25:06Saddam Hussein was
25:08either taken
25:09captive, went
25:10out or
25:10subsequently was
25:11hanged, the
25:12country collapsed.
25:13So Iran has a
25:14very complex
25:14system.
25:15Even right now
25:16when America
25:17asks who do we
25:17talk to?
25:18Well, they have
25:18a president,
25:19Masood Pazishkian.
25:20Who do we
25:21engage with?
25:21They have a
25:22foreign minister,
25:23Sayyad Abbasar
25:23Aki, who's the
25:24supreme leader?
25:25Mujtabak
25:25Khamani.
25:26He may be
25:26injured but he's
25:27still there.
25:28They have a
25:28system in place,
25:29they have people
25:29you can talk to
25:30already in place
25:31and then they
25:32have such a
25:33complex system
25:34that there is
25:34one, a
25:35religious leadership,
25:36one, a
25:36political leadership,
25:37there's the
25:37majlis, there are
25:38those leaders and
25:39the moment a top
25:41leader is decapitated,
25:42the number two
25:42takes over and
25:43then there is
25:44already a system
25:44put in place and
25:45then they have a
25:46mosaic strategy.
25:47What is that
25:47mosaic strategy?
25:48There is no
25:49central authority
25:50that's giving
25:51instructions,
25:51instructions have
25:52already been given
25:53across 31 provinces,
25:55all commanders
25:56across 31 provinces,
25:57the moment they get
25:57those instructions,
25:58they are independent
25:59to act, looking at
26:00the target, they
26:01take down the
26:01target.
26:02That is how
26:02Iran is able to
26:04operate and
26:04operate very
26:05effectively even on
26:07day 19 despite
26:08this carpet bombing
26:09and they have
26:10multiple rungs of
26:11leadership who are
26:12in place.
26:12Ali Larejani, just
26:13before he was
26:14decapitated or
26:15killed, he had
26:15actually, the
26:16Friday earlier at
26:17the Alkut rally
26:18parade, he had
26:19issued a statement
26:19that every drop
26:20of blood, every
26:21leader killed will
26:22lead to more
26:23leaders rising, will
26:25lead to a bigger
26:25revolution and the
26:26people of Iran will
26:27realize that they
26:28have been fighting
26:29the evil forces as
26:30they put it, the
26:31Americans and the
26:32Israelis and they
26:33will continue to
26:34know that the
26:34Ayatollah was doing
26:35the right thing in
26:36protecting them against
26:38these forces.
26:39Pranay, you know
26:40there is some more
26:40news coming in but
26:41before I go to that
26:42I just want to take a
26:43pause here, we were
26:44talking about this
26:45earlier on the
26:45program into why, how
26:47does Iran still
26:48function at this
26:49point, what exactly
26:50is the ground
26:50reality inside Iran
26:52and importantly, how
26:54does US know
26:55exactly where the
26:56leaders are?
26:57How do they know
26:58exactly how to
26:59target them, where
27:00they are, at what
27:01time?
27:02How does this
27:02entire security
27:03briefing work?
27:05Sonal, you have
27:06to make a
27:06distinction here
27:07between the US
27:08strategy and the
27:08Israeli strategy.
27:10Decapitation is
27:10largely being carried
27:11out by the
27:12Israeli forces.
27:13Israel has
27:14penetrated Iran
27:15like anything.
27:16They have built
27:16their own spy
27:17networks, they
27:18have used
27:19immigrants, they
27:19have used their
27:21local support
27:22system and even
27:23in the last 24
27:24hours, the
27:25Iranians, new
27:26and Iranians have
27:27cracked down on
27:28these spy networks.
27:30So Israel and its
27:32spy agency Mossad is
27:33known for its long
27:34drawn operation for
27:35the very patient kind
27:37of a network building
27:38and getting
27:39information.
27:39this is a very
27:40complicated structure
27:41where you get the
27:42technical intelligence,
27:43you get the human
27:43intelligence and you
27:44build up the
27:44collated information
27:45structure where you
27:46precisely know what
27:47are the movement
27:48patterns of a leader,
27:50what is the color of
27:51his car, what are his
27:52food preferences and
27:53how you can sneak into
27:54that information wall
27:56the Iranians have built
27:57so far.
27:58But, you know, taking
27:59forward from the point
28:00where Gaurav left, that
28:01you know, the complex
28:02structure, Iran is a
28:03theological strait, it's
28:04theocratic strait and
28:06you know, you cannot
28:06bomb an ideology out
28:08and that is the reason
28:09why Iran is still
28:10standing.
28:11Iran is facing this
28:12decapitation for long,
28:13for long, for past
28:14many years they have
28:15been losing their
28:16nuclear scientist.
28:17In last year's
28:1812-day war, they have
28:20lost their IRGC
28:21commander, they have
28:22lost their military
28:23chief, they have lost
28:24their defense minister
28:24and even at the first
28:26blow of this on 28th
28:28February 2026, they
28:29have lost 40 leaders
28:31in one go.
28:32But still, they are
28:32standing.
28:33So they have built a
28:34structure where there
28:35is a replacement
28:36strategy for every
28:37leader and as Gaurav
28:38was mentioning, there's
28:39a mosaic structure in
28:40terms of the decision
28:41making where the 31
28:43provinces have their
28:44own separate 31, you
28:46know, command
28:46structure and the local
28:48commanders are empowered
28:49enough to keep
28:51firing even if they do
28:53not get any instruction
28:54from the higher top or
28:55from the command
28:56structure.
28:57And this is how they
28:58have built the structure
28:58and that is the bigger
28:59question.
29:00What Americans are
29:01trying to do?
29:01Americans are giving
29:02kind of a support to
29:04Israeli operations.
29:05Israelis have
29:05penetration, Israelis are
29:07carrying out these
29:07decapitation and that's
29:09why you have heard
29:10President Donald Trump
29:10saying that even we
29:12ended up killing some
29:13of the leaders whom we
29:14thought could be
29:15replacement of our
29:16regime chain.
29:17So here we have to
29:18figure out that, you
29:19know, who could be the
29:20probable leader, who
29:22could emerge and whom
29:23we can talk to.
29:24So this is like U.S.
29:25fighting Israel's war at
29:28the moment, right?
29:29They are the ones
29:30fighting it on their
29:31intelligence, technical
29:32and, you know, you know,
29:34other intelligence that's
29:35coming in as well.
29:36But Gaurav, help me
29:37understand this.
29:39What is the one thing
29:41that will really make this
29:42war tick?
29:44At the moment, we see
29:46days when the war
29:47escalates.
29:48Then we see days where
29:49nothing much is happening.
29:50Then again, we see
29:51another, you know, day
29:53of action.
29:54This at the moment looks
29:56like a complete state
29:57where we don't know
29:58what's going to happen
29:59next.
29:59Have we seen, in your
30:01experience, have you seen
30:02wars like these in the
30:03past?
30:04And in a state like this
30:05where we don't know,
30:06where it seems like it's
30:07only going to stay more
30:09prolonged because Iran has
30:11a structure where it
30:12keeps feeding itself
30:13despite what you do to
30:14its leaders.
30:15What is the one thing
30:16that will make it tick?
30:17So as of now, either a
30:20regime change operation
30:21or America declaring
30:22victory and pulling out
30:23and neither appear to be
30:25happening right now
30:26unless Donald Trump
30:27suddenly decides to do
30:28so, by then, he would
30:30be hugely unpopular
30:31should he do that.
30:32But yes, you know,
30:33wars, it's very easy
30:35to get in.
30:36It's very difficult to
30:37have an exit strategy.
30:39Look at the Russia-Ukraine
30:41war, for example.
30:42When I got there in
30:432022 in February,
30:45it hadn't even started.
30:46Now it's 2026 March.
30:47The war is still on
30:49and often it escalates.
30:51You know, it flows and
30:52ebbs.
30:53That Russia-Ukraine war
30:53went on for, is going on
30:54for such a long time.
30:56The Iran-Iraq war, it
30:57lasted eight years.
30:59You know, America going
31:01into Iraq in 2023,
31:04that lasted decades.
31:05Going into Afghanistan
31:06lasted two decades.
31:08It just becomes a
31:09never-ending thing.
31:10It's almost like a
31:10quicksand.
31:11It sucks you in unless
31:13you have a very clear
31:13exit strategy.
31:15For example, Operation
31:16Sindhur.
31:16India had a very clear
31:17exit strategy.
31:18This is what we want
31:19to do.
31:19We've achieved it and
31:20we are out.
31:21That is what is called
31:23having a clear war aim.
31:25You know, there are
31:25principles of law
31:26where you have aim,
31:28you say what your aim
31:30is and maintenance of aim.
31:32You cannot keep changing
31:33your aim in war.
31:34That's exactly what
31:35India did very smartly
31:36during Operation
31:37Sindhur.
31:37But what is the aim?
31:39What is the aim here?
31:40What is US's aim?
31:41And this is the confusion
31:41in the United States of
31:42America and Israel.
31:44What is the aim?
31:45Is it a regime change?
31:46They spoke of it
31:47initially and then
31:48they said no,
31:49it's to ensure that
31:50the regime is weakened
31:51enough for people to
31:53rise.
31:53Now for people to rise,
31:54what will they fight
31:55with?
31:55Sticks and stones
31:56or will they be
31:57armed?
31:58And that is the big
31:59question.
31:59Is the United States
32:00or are the United States
32:01and Israel in the
32:02process of arming,
32:04for example,
32:04the minorities in the
32:05country, the Baluchis
32:07on the eastern flank,
32:08the Aziris on the
32:09Azerbaijan flank,
32:10the Kurds on the
32:11north flank,
32:12and Persians who want
32:13to rise against
32:14the regime?
32:15Are they being
32:16armed?
32:16Will somebody
32:16coordinate this?
32:18All of that we still
32:18do not know.
32:20As of now,
32:21all we know is
32:22it's day 19 of
32:23operations,
32:24but do keep in mind
32:25we're still in
32:26phase 2 of these
32:27operations.
32:28and President Trump
32:29had said it could
32:30last between 4 to
32:316 weeks.
32:32So this is still
32:33week 3 moving
32:34towards week 4.
32:35There's still 2 more
32:36weeks to go if it's
32:38a 6 week long
32:38operation and it's
32:39likely to be much
32:40longer than 6 weeks
32:42because this is the
32:43time that you have
32:43that US expedituary
32:45marine unit that's
32:46en route to the
32:48Strait of Hormuz.
32:48If they're going in,
32:49whether to take down
32:50those nuclear facilities
32:52to get hold of that
32:52nuclear material or to
32:54take hold of
32:55Gharg Island,
32:56we still do not
32:57know.
32:57A lot of war plans
32:58are kept confidential
32:59but then it does
33:00appear to be from
33:01Israel's perspective,
33:03it's going great guns.
33:04Israel is getting
33:05rid of all its
33:06enemies the way
33:07it wants to.
33:08So Israel is
33:09pursuing this war
33:09the way it would
33:10love to.
33:11It wants America
33:12to continue staying
33:13here.
33:13Iran is desperately
33:14trying to spread
33:15the arc of fire
33:16so that there's
33:17pressure on America
33:18to stop.
33:19Iran will also
33:19not stop right now.
33:20So according to
33:21Gaurav Savan,
33:22this is only phase
33:232 of the war.
33:24We are yet to see
33:25what happens next.
33:26But hold on to
33:27that thought Gaurav
33:27because there's
33:28some more breaking
33:28news coming in.
33:29Let's take those
33:30updates as well.
33:32This is Israel,
33:34US upping the
33:34ante against Iran.
33:36We are now getting
33:36reports from Iranian
33:37media that part of
33:38Iran's South Parz
33:40petrochemical facilities
33:41have been attacked.
33:43Strikes continue on
33:44the Iranian energy
33:45facilities.
33:46The US previously
33:48had attacked Iran's
33:49Khark Island in the
33:50Persian Gulf,
33:51its main oil terminal
33:53remember.
33:53earlier, Israel had
33:55also targeted the
33:56fuel depot in
33:57Tehran.
33:58So this is up,
34:00you know, Iran and
34:01US upping their
34:02ante as well.
34:02Prane, let's get a
34:03quick update.
34:04What are you making
34:04of it?
34:05Really, there is a
34:07distinction between
34:07the US strategy and
34:08Israel strategy as I
34:09mentioned because
34:10earlier we heard that
34:11President Donald
34:11Trump was not keen
34:12Israel taking out
34:14the Shahran oil
34:15depot in Tehran
34:16because it does not
34:17lead to any
34:18tangible objective.
34:20and if the oil
34:20depots, because if
34:21you see the latest
34:22statement by
34:22President Donald
34:23Trump, he said
34:24that they have
34:25only taken out
34:25the military
34:26infrastructure in
34:27Khark Island.
34:28They did not
34:28touch the oil
34:29infrastructure and
34:29you know that
34:30how sensitive
34:31President Donald
34:31Trump is about
34:33the oil strategy
34:34and oil resources.
34:35But, you know,
34:36let me help you
34:37rewind this war
34:38and this conflict.
34:39What exactly
34:40Israel and United
34:41States are trying
34:42to do and what
34:43has happened in
34:43the map of
34:45West Asia in
34:46the last 10
34:46years.
34:47You know, in
34:48July 2016,
34:50Israeli Prime
34:50Minister Benjamin
34:51Netanyahu showed
34:52that map in the
34:53Israeli Kineset and
34:54there he said that
34:55you know how we
34:56are trying to
34:56change this
34:57landscape and
34:57thereafter you see
34:58successively in
34:592017, President
35:01Donald Trump was
35:01the first US
35:02president to visit
35:03Jerusalem.
35:04Thereafter we have
35:05seen that he has
35:06built the Abraham
35:07Accord, he united
35:08United Arab Emirates
35:10and Bahrain and
35:11have Abraham Accord
35:12with Israel, the
35:13new building of
35:14partnership between
35:15Israel and the
35:16Arab nations and
35:17there is a new
35:17architecture which is
35:18taking place in the
35:19region and it is
35:21part of that.
35:22So I would say
35:22that this conflict
35:23or this war was
35:24so announced, so
35:26well announced that
35:27it came with
35:28trumpets and
35:29bugles and
35:30everyone could see
35:30this war coming.
35:32Israel has also
35:33prepared, Iran has
35:34also prepared for
35:34this war for long
35:35and that's why they
35:36are able to map
35:38each other's strategy
35:39and they have
35:40worked out the
35:40moves and
35:41counter moves as
35:42in.
35:44Alright, that's a
35:46good perspective to
35:47understand this
35:48entire war with but
35:50remember this is
35:50day 19 of the
35:52West Asia war and
35:53strikes are now,
35:54you know, skies there
35:55as you see not just
35:56in the background
35:56behind me but
35:57actually are ruled by
35:58missiles far more
35:59intense than at the
36:00start.
36:01Tel Aviv is taking a
36:02direct hit, buildings
36:03are reduced to rubble,
36:05a train station is
36:05torn apart, civilians
36:07caught in the line
36:08of the fire.
36:08As Israel pounds
36:10Iran in a bid to
36:11dismantle the regime,
36:12Tehran is striking
36:14back with equal
36:16force.
36:16Overnight, Iranian
36:18missiles including
36:18cluster warheads
36:20rain down on
36:21Tel Aviv.
36:22At least two people
36:23are dead.
36:24Now, streets there
36:25littered with
36:26wreckage, homes and
36:27cars destroyed and
36:29in Behrut, the
36:30devastation is just
36:31as severe.
36:33Israel in fact has
36:34widened its offensive
36:36against the Hezbollah.
36:37An airstrike flattened
36:39an apartment block in
36:40central Behrut as well.
36:42You're seeing all those
36:42visuals over there.
36:45And just an hour after
36:46the residents were told
36:47to evacuate, that is
36:49where the airstrikes had
36:50come in.
36:51The regime is clearly
36:53under fire.
36:54Cities are under siege
36:56as well.
36:57Here's a report on
36:58Israel's relentless
37:00assault in Lebanon.
37:16A precise strike,
37:18a loud explosion
37:19followed by clouds
37:20of black smoke
37:21and a building
37:22turning into rubble
37:23in seconds.
37:24Is it?
37:25Is it?
37:28On day 19 of the
37:30West Asia war,
37:31Israel continued its
37:32attacks on Lebanon
37:33and launched strikes
37:34on the capital city.
37:40The airstrike
37:41flattened a 22-story
37:42apartment building
37:43in Bachora
37:44in central Behrut.
37:45The powerful strike
37:46destroyed the building
37:47within seconds.
37:51The Israeli army
37:52had warned residents
37:53to evacuate about
37:54an hour earlier
37:55before completely
37:56flattening the structure
37:57at daybreak.
38:06Asher Fani was
38:08right at the spot
38:08reporting from
38:10ground zero
38:10amid smoke
38:11and rubble.
38:13One of the
38:1422-story tall
38:16reading has been
38:17brought down
38:17by the idea
38:19of sporting
38:20as you can see
38:21now the rest
38:22of what is
38:22going on here.
38:24The two
38:25are going
38:28and the rest
38:29to bring
38:30the rest.
38:33The rest
38:34are going
38:35to bring
38:37This building
38:39which was targeted
38:40for last
38:40three days
38:41continuously
38:42with the missiles
38:43but today
38:43one of the
38:44bigger bombs
38:45had been
38:47penetrated
38:48by the idea
38:49aerial forces.
38:53It marks
38:54the fourth time
38:54the building
38:55has been targeted
38:56after three
38:56strikes on
38:57March 12
38:57failed to
38:58bring it
38:58down.
39:01Locals
39:01expressed
39:02the ragitation
39:02of the strike
39:03and condemned
39:04Israel.
39:17The Israeli army
39:18had earlier
39:19said that it
39:19was targeting
39:20the site
39:20accusing the
39:21Hezbollah
39:22of storing
39:22millions of
39:23dollars intended
39:24to finance
39:25its activities
39:25without providing
39:27evidence.
39:27We had
39:29earlier seen
39:30during last
39:30two weeks
39:31only the
39:32south suburb
39:33of Beirut
39:33was targeted
39:34which is
39:34being considered
39:35as a
39:36stronghold
39:36of the
39:38Hezbollah
39:39but also
39:40now the
39:40pattern
39:40has been
39:41changed
39:41by the
39:41idea
39:42of where
39:42the
39:43central
39:43Beirut
39:44is being
39:44targeted.
39:45During
39:45last
39:4612 hours
39:47three
39:47aerial strikes
39:48were carried
39:49out
39:49in Beirut
39:51where one
39:52building
39:52was also
39:53brought down
39:53to ground
39:5422 storey
39:55tall building
39:56and also
39:57we are
39:58seeing now
39:58in the
39:59other part
39:59not far
40:00from that
40:00place
40:01where
40:01another
40:02building
40:03has been
40:03targeted
40:03you can
40:04see behind
40:04me
40:04three
40:05storeys
40:05of these
40:06buildings
40:06had
40:07been
40:08struck
40:08with
40:09the
40:09missiles
40:10by the
40:11warplanes
40:11of IDF.
40:13Israeli
40:14strikes
40:14targeting
40:15central
40:15Beirut
40:15have become
40:16increasingly
40:16frequent
40:17in recent
40:17days
40:18with or
40:19without
40:19prior
40:19warning.
40:23With no
40:24signs of
40:24the war
40:24coming to
40:25an end
40:25the attacks
40:26may only
40:26intensify
40:27in the
40:27days ahead.
40:28With
40:29Ashraf Vani
40:29reporting
40:30from
40:30Beirut
40:31Bureau
40:31Report
40:31India
40:32Today.
40:49Let me
40:50go back
40:50to the
40:50previous
40:51breaking
40:51that we
40:52had
40:52got in
40:52this
40:52is
40:53about
40:53Iranian
40:53media
40:54reporting
40:54that
40:54parts
40:55of
40:55Iran's
40:56petrochemical
40:57facilities
40:57have been
40:58attacked.
40:59Gaurav,
40:59help us
41:00understand
41:00this.
41:01As I
41:02see,
41:03it was
41:03first a
41:04direct
41:05attack
41:06on the
41:06leadership.
41:08While that
41:08happened,
41:09one layer,
41:10second layer,
41:11third layer,
41:12all of them,
41:13we counted
41:13some 19
41:14leaders
41:14who
41:15this war
41:16has taken
41:17down and
41:18yet Iran
41:19continues to
41:20function the
41:20way they
41:20function.
41:21On the
41:22other hand,
41:22there is
41:23the
41:23Strait of
41:23Hormuz,
41:25which is
41:25where trade
41:26facilities
41:26are being
41:27sort of,
41:28you know,
41:28the neck
41:29there is
41:29being tightened
41:30to say
41:30that this
41:30is how
41:31we're going
41:31to control
41:31the war.
41:32And then
41:33there are
41:33these
41:33petrochemical
41:34facilities.
41:35Why are
41:36these
41:36petrochemical
41:37facilities that
41:38now we
41:38see under
41:39attack,
41:40which you
41:40say is
41:40phase two
41:41of the
41:41war?
41:41Why is
41:42this so
41:42important?
41:43This is
41:44escalation.
41:45Targeting
41:46petrochemicals
41:47is escalation.
41:48And this
41:48is Israel
41:49sending out
41:49a message
41:50to Iran,
41:52should you
41:52escalate,
41:53your
41:54refineries
41:54are next.
41:55You know,
41:56war,
41:56like an
41:57operation
41:57that a
41:58doctor would
41:59conduct,
41:59you cover
42:00health.
42:00So,
42:01there's no
42:02emotion involved
42:03in this.
42:03It's
42:04hardcore
42:04military
42:05operation
42:06that's
42:06currently
42:06underway.
42:07First,
42:08decapitation,
42:09you cut off
42:09the head,
42:10so that
42:10then the
42:11thinking power
42:12of a
42:12country
42:12goes
42:13down when
42:13experienced
42:14leadership
42:14is taken
42:15down.
42:15That's
42:15exactly
42:16what
42:16Israel
42:16and
42:16America
42:17did
42:17initially
42:18and
42:18they
42:18continue
42:19to
42:19do
42:19that.
42:19Two,
42:20they're getting
42:20rid of
42:21money power.
42:22You know,
42:22to fight a war,
42:23you need money,
42:24you need access
42:25to funds,
42:26you need,
42:26you know,
42:27all of that
42:28is now being
42:29the source of
42:29funds is being
42:30dried and
42:31then of course
42:33the man power,
42:34they'll go after
42:35the military power
42:36which they're
42:36systematically
42:36doing,
42:37taking down
42:37besiege,
42:38taking down
42:38all symbols of
42:39the state so
42:40that people would
42:40rise,
42:41taking down
42:41their artillery,
42:42their tanks,
42:44their armoured
42:44personal carriers,
42:45they've sunk
42:45over a hundred
42:46warships so
42:46that it doesn't
42:47remain a navy.
42:48Just yesterday,
42:49last night,
42:49a 5,000 pound
42:50bunker buster
42:52bomb was dropped
42:53for the first
42:53time in this
42:54operation and
42:54not one but
42:55multiple to
42:56take down
42:56missile silos,
42:58you know,
42:58sea skimming,
42:59cruise missiles
43:00being taken down.
43:00So it's literally
43:01a sign that
43:03America and
43:04Israel are
43:04falling simultaneously.
43:05Iran is doing
43:06just the same.
43:07They are also
43:08escalating,
43:09they are targeting
43:10oil,
43:10if their oil is
43:11targeted,
43:12they are targeting
43:12oil of Gulf
43:13countries.
43:14If their
43:14desalination plant
43:15is targeted,
43:16they are targeting
43:17desalination plant
43:18elsewhere.
43:19So it's
43:19absolutely tit for
43:20tat.
43:21One escalates,
43:22the other takes
43:23it a notch higher,
43:23the third takes
43:24it a notch even
43:25higher.
43:25That is how this
43:26war is being
43:26pursued.
43:27As far as
43:27the Strait of
43:28Hormuz is
43:28concerned,
43:29that is Iran's,
43:30if I may,
43:31their Brahmastra
43:32of sorts.
43:33If they choke
43:33it,
43:3420% of world
43:35oil and gas
43:35supply is
43:36impacted,
43:36as is the
43:37economy of
43:38all the GCC
43:38countries around
43:39the Strait of
43:40Hormuz.
43:41In case America
43:41is able to
43:42break through
43:42that chokehold,
43:44then America
43:44and Israel
43:45clearly have an
43:46upper hand.
43:46Till then,
43:47Iran is as
43:48much in this
43:49fight.
43:49And can I make
43:50an observation
43:50here?
43:51Look at
43:52Iran's strategy.
43:52It is allowing
43:54its so-called
43:54friends of Iran
43:56to pass through
43:56the Strait of
43:57Hormuz.
43:58They don't want
43:59participation from
44:00other countries
44:00here.
44:01They are saying
44:01let's fight this
44:03war with Israel
44:03and U.S.
44:04We don't want
44:05any other
44:05partners and
44:06that's how we
44:07are going to
44:07keep the rest
44:08of the world
44:08happy,
44:09not jumping
44:10into the
44:10water.
44:11Is that
44:13the right
44:14assessment?
44:15So,
44:16countries like
44:17China and
44:17Russia stand
44:18accused of
44:19helping Iran
44:20and especially
44:20Russia.
44:21America has
44:22said so in
44:22as many words,
44:23not just
44:24satellite intelligence
44:25that is being
44:26provided by
44:27Russia but
44:28also whether
44:29it's drone,
44:30artillery,
44:30missile technology.
44:31There's a lot
44:32of assistance
44:32that is coming
44:34Iran's way,
44:35courtesy Russia
44:36which could
44:37actually be
44:38quid pro quo
44:39and thank you
44:40from Russia
44:41because the
44:41number of
44:41Shahid drones
44:42that Iran
44:43had provided
44:43to Russia
44:44when Russia
44:45needed them
44:45against Ukraine,
44:46Russia in a
44:47way is saying
44:47thank you and
44:48giving them
44:49that technology
44:50and more.
44:51So,
44:52Iran clearly
44:52is not
44:53isolated.
44:54The Shia
44:54world or
44:55whatever remains
44:55of powers,
44:57the Houthi
44:58rebels in
44:59Yemen,
44:59they've still
45:00not come
45:00into action.
45:01Should there
45:01be escalation
45:02and that is
45:03the next
45:03phase of
45:03escalation,
45:04so on
45:04God forbid,
45:05should this
45:05war expand,
45:06then the
45:07Houthi rebels
45:07will target
45:09Bab al-Mandab
45:10in that region,
45:11the Red Sea
45:12region would be
45:12on fire and
45:13another very
45:14crucial choke
45:14point would
45:15get activated
45:16and this is
45:16where Iran
45:17does as of
45:18now have a
45:19couple of
45:20aces up
45:20its sleeve.
45:21Again,
45:22should the
45:22Houthis be
45:23down,
45:24should the
45:25state of
45:25Hormuz,
45:25right now
45:26what is Iran
45:27saying?
45:27It's saying
45:28pay us in
45:29one,
45:29pay us in
45:30Chinese currency
45:31and that's
45:31a huge blow
45:32to the United
45:33States of
45:33America because
45:34petrodollars
45:35makes America
45:36very strong.
45:37If ships
45:39pass paying
45:39Iran in
45:40Chinese currency
45:42for their
45:43oil,
45:44then it means
45:44the American
45:45dollar will
45:46get weakened.
45:46So short
45:47term,
45:47medium term,
45:48long term,
45:49this war
45:49will have
45:50impact on
45:51America,
45:51on Iran,
45:52on the
45:52region and
45:53the world.
45:54And the
45:55world,
45:55it is day
45:5519,
45:56we've seen
45:56most parts
45:57of the
45:59impact of
46:00that war
46:00already but
46:01like Gaurav
46:02was saying,
46:02this is only
46:03phase two.
46:04We are now
46:04preparing for
46:05another phase
46:06and well on
46:07another few
46:07weeks of
46:08this war
46:08going on.
46:09So let's
46:09see what
46:09happens for
46:10the moment.
46:10Gaurav
46:10Saban,
46:11thank you so
46:11much for
46:11joining us,
46:12putting this
46:12entire story
46:13into perspective
46:14in the midst
46:14of all this
46:15war news,
46:16there's finally
46:16some relief
46:17coming in
46:17for India
46:18and it could
46:18finally be
46:19because of
46:20your airlines.
46:22Could finally
46:23be a sight
46:23for India's
46:24air passengers,
46:25some relief,
46:26for years,
46:27flyers have
46:27watched the
46:27cost of a
46:28simple choice,
46:29where to sit,
46:31quietly climb
46:32higher and
46:33higher and
46:34higher.
46:34Now in a
46:35decisive
46:36interpretation,
46:37in fact,
46:37in an intervention
46:38that has come
46:38in from the
46:39government,
46:39the government
46:40has now
46:40stepped in
46:41to clip
46:41the wings
46:42of the
46:42soaring
46:42seat selection
46:43charges.
46:44Under the
46:44now very
46:45powerful new
46:46directive,
46:46airlines must
46:47keep at
46:48least 60%
46:50of the
46:51seats free
46:52during the
46:53web check-in,
46:54which means
46:54that only 40%
46:55of the seats
46:56most likely
46:57to be covered
46:58by window
46:59and aisle
46:59and extra
47:00legroom seats
47:00etc.
47:01can have a
47:02price tag on
47:03them,
47:03an extra
47:03price tag on
47:04them.
47:04Until now,
47:05passengers did
47:06not have much
47:07of an option
47:07with barely 20%
47:08of the seats
47:09available for free.
47:10Most were
47:11forced to
47:11pay up
47:12or settle
47:13things in
47:13the middle.
47:14Now,
47:14there is a
47:15free share
47:15which has
47:16been tripled.
47:18Some also
47:20things is
47:21that why
47:21is this so
47:22important?
47:23Well,
47:23the reason is
47:24that on
47:24Indigo,
47:25for example,
47:26charges for
47:27specified seats
47:28can go up
47:28to 2,700.
47:30That's right,
47:302,700 is
47:31what sometimes
47:32you have to
47:32pay for a
47:33particular seat.
47:34A casa,
47:34it goes up
47:35even higher
47:36to about
47:365,000.
47:38Air India
47:38seat selection
47:40can cost
47:40you about
47:401,300.
47:41Air India
47:42Express,
47:42the charges
47:43go up to
47:43about 2,500
47:44or so.
47:45So look at
47:45those numbers.
47:46Indigo,
47:472,700.
47:49A casa,
47:495,000.
47:50Air India,
47:511,300.
47:52Air India
47:52Express,
47:522,500.
47:53Spice Jet
47:54also up to
47:55about 1,550.
47:57And for
47:57families and
47:58frequent flyers,
47:59these costs
47:59quickly add up,
48:00right?
48:01It's never the
48:01price of the
48:02ticket.
48:02You always end
48:03up paying
48:03so much more
48:04for this one.
48:04The government's
48:05message is very
48:06clear that
48:07basic seat
48:08allocation should
48:09not come at
48:10a premium and
48:11that if these
48:12are implemented
48:14effectively,
48:15this could make
48:16flying in India
48:17a little bit
48:17more affordable
48:18and just
48:19especially with
48:20the holiday
48:21season coming
48:22in.
48:24All right,
48:24with that,
48:25we're going to
48:26say goodbye for
48:27today and see
48:28you again tomorrow.
48:28If you have
48:29suggestions on
48:30what topics we
48:31must pick up on
48:325 Live,
48:32please do write
48:33into us in
48:33the comments.
48:34We read all
48:34of them and
48:35we'll go through
48:36them and see
48:36how to cover
48:37all of that
48:38in the program.
48:39Thank you so
48:39much.
48:40See you tomorrow.
48:40Bye-bye.
