00:00Our golden moment, we're only going up, up, up from here and we're truly unstoppable.
00:04I love seeing a woman in country at number one.
00:06Talk about K-pop legends, BTS.
00:09BTS.
00:10Hey, it's Katzai.
00:11Hey, it's St. McCray.
00:12Hey, what's up? It's Serena Carpenter.
00:14Hey, BTS.
00:16This is my team star.
00:18Girl, we did it, baby.
00:19Hey, it's Meghan Trainor.
00:20And this is The Hot 100 Show.
00:23Welcome back to The Hot 100 Show.
00:26I'm Tetris and co-hosting with me today is my friend Kevin Woo.
00:28How's it going?
00:29Hello.
00:29I am so excited to be here.
00:32I have seen the show a lot and I can't believe I'm here.
00:35Well, dude, I can't believe you're here because of the night you had recently.
00:39Oh, my God.
00:40The Oscars, this guy was everywhere.
00:41How was that?
00:42I mean, what an emotional life for us.
00:44We had two Oscar nominations and won both.
00:48I know.
00:48It was so exciting.
00:49Best animated feature and best original star.
00:52And I mean, seeing you with all the Saja boys was also crazy.
00:56What a moment.
00:57The fans wanted it.
00:58So how was it to be with you guys?
00:59Oh, my goodness.
01:00I felt like it was a dream come true.
01:02Art imitates life.
01:03Life imitates art.
01:04Honestly, we just had an amazing night just all together celebrating the movie.
01:09But I love our Saja Boy moment on the carpet.
01:12Yeah.
01:12The fans went wild.
01:13And the girls winning.
01:15I mean, that was so good.
01:16With Song, with Golden.
01:17How was it at the parties and hanging out with the girls on the energy last night?
01:20Oh, my God.
01:21It was honestly so surreal to see everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio, Tiana Taylor just hold lightsticks.
01:28Yeah.
01:28And seeing Golden all together, it was a magical moment.
01:33Dude, well, we're so happy to have you here with us.
01:35We do got a chart to get to.
01:36So let's look at numbers 10 through 8.
01:38This is the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 for the week-dated March 21st.
01:46Opalite falls to 10.
01:54Harry's back up to number 9.
02:01Taylor grabs another Top 10 at 8.
02:10Hey, New York.
02:11So happy to see you guys.
02:12How are you feeling about the Top 10 so far?
02:14Love it.
02:15Lots of fun pop in there.
02:17I've got a nice Harry sandwich at the bottom.
02:20Yeah.
02:21Two Taylor Swift songs and Harry Styles with his huge week coming off his new number one album.
02:26It's a pretty exciting start to the Top 10.
02:29And I mean, speaking of Harry, I feel like so many people had things to say online about
02:33his performance at the Brits.
02:35So how did you guys feel about that?
02:37I thought it was so much fun.
02:38It very much gave David Byrne of the Talking Heads and a little LCD sound system.
02:44I love this new direction that he's going in.
02:46And it seems like he really wanted to pivot towards a little more dance and more choreography,
02:51which historically, the choreography hasn't been a major part of his background.
02:55But I love that he leaned into it and really delivered and gave it his all.
02:59And it was really fun to watch.
03:02And I mean, Kevin, you being a pop guy, how would you feel about the Harry Styles project
03:05in this new direction?
03:06Oh my God.
03:07I'm living for this disco era of Harry Styles.
03:09I've been listening to his album on repeat and it just makes me so happy.
03:14Yeah.
03:14I mean, it's a good project.
03:15And then Taylor Swift, I would say she has been killing it in the Top 10 repetitively.
03:21Opelight and The Fate of Aphelion.
03:22Do you think she's going to go anywhere anytime soon, guys?
03:25I mean, obviously, like these things are close to the bottom of the Top 10.
03:28So you kind of start to think, OK, I mean, it's kind of crazy that The Fate of Aphelion
03:31is actually above Opelight right now, just to show just how strong that song in particular
03:35has been.
03:36Obviously, it had, you know, months at number one.
03:38So it's been a massive hit, but to still stay strong.
03:40But here we are pretty much at spring break.
03:42This song came out in October.
03:44So a lot going on there.
03:45Of course, Opelight as well.
03:46People have been, you know, big fans of that.
03:48I think Elizabeth Taylor is now the new single.
03:51So maybe, you know, so as these two songs seem to start to recede, maybe we'll see Elizabeth
03:55Taylor come up pretty soon because obviously it's a new single.
03:58We know the appetite for Taylor music, for Taylor fans.
04:01And I think this is one of the ones, too, that we saw early on that people were kind
04:03of going towards.
04:04So, you know, it may be over for these two songs in the next couple of weeks, but that
04:08does not mean it's over for Taylor or this album in general.
04:11Never, ever over for Taylor.
04:13And talk about your new music right now, man.
04:15So how has it been to put songs out and get your fans' reaction?
04:17Oh my God, it's been such an amazing journey.
04:20You know, my fans have been following me since Yo Kiss, my K-pop days, and to see me now
04:25in film and animated film and just all across boards, it's like truly an exciting moment
04:30for me.
04:31And I've been working on new music and I can't wait to share the collabs and the new direction
04:37I'm going in, but it's going to be very, very fun for sure.
04:40Do you feel like now that you have this whole world that opened up to you from K-pop
04:43Theme Hunters, is that any of that, like some Sasha influence, your own personal music?
04:48Totally.
04:48I would say I'm in my villain era.
04:51Even in the new movie K-pop with Anderson .Paak, I play a villain.
04:54And I feel like that kind of shaped my new direction of the genre I want to be in.
04:58Okay.
04:59We definitely need to talk a little bit more about that movie.
05:01But let's jump back into the charts at No. 7-4.
05:05Golden rises a spot.
05:14As does Stateside to Six.
05:22Ordinary holds on to No. 5.
05:30American Girls debuts at 4.
05:38And there's 7-4 in Huntricks, of course, with Golden at No. 7.
05:43It's crazy that song was No. 1 for so long and then to still be hanging in the top 10
05:48all these months later, how does that feel to see the people continue to love it?
05:52Oh, my God.
05:53It's been a tremendous season for us.
05:57And to see Golden still in the top 10, crushing it, I feel like it's our golden moment.
06:02We're only going up, up, up from here.
06:04And we're truly unstoppable.
06:05And I feel like after the Oscars, I feel like it's just going to go higher.
06:08Yeah.
06:08I was about to say that.
06:09I can see it being number one or maybe a million next week.
06:12Let's see what happens after the Oscar win.
06:14How are you guys feeling about the chart?
06:16I love seeing Golden up there still, especially after interviewing the girls back in August, early September.
06:21I remember asking them, like, how long do you think it'll stay up there?
06:25And they were so humble about it.
06:27But I think this is exceeding all their expectations.
06:30And seeing their dreams come true is incredible.
06:32Did you see their performance last night?
06:34Oh, my God.
06:34It was insane.
06:35Oh, yeah.
06:36We all cried in the crowd.
06:37Like, it's just nonstop tears.
06:39So much pride in our culture.
06:43And even the opening intro before the girls came out, the homage to the film and the traditional
06:50hanbok that they wore and the performance, just chef's kiss.
06:53Well, now you got to tell me, did you get to keep one of those light sticks, though?
06:56We did.
06:57Yeah.
06:57I was like, I need one of those light sticks.
06:59I have a Sosaboi light stick and a Huntrix light stick and an Oscar light stick.
07:02Oh, wow.
07:03That's insane.
07:04And guys, I also am so excited about Pink Panthers and Zara Larsson.
07:08What a deserved top 10 here.
07:10How are we guys feeling about Stateside?
07:11It's so exciting for them.
07:13Obviously, this is, you know, Pink Panthers' biggest hit since Boyz Lire Part 2 a few years
07:17ago.
07:17And for Zara Larsson, this is just incredible.
07:20Like, she's been making music for over a decade now, and some of her songs that are
07:24currently charting are from that album cycle from a decade ago.
07:28And now, because of this remix, she gets her first top 10 hit.
07:32It's, you know, it seems like there could be some big things to come for Zara, and we'll
07:36just have to see what they are.
07:37It's very exciting.
07:37And then, of course, Alex, no stranger to this chart.
07:40We see him every week.
07:42But I do want to talk about this debut from Harry Styles.
07:45Are we expecting American Girls to be the one that got on the chart?
07:48Yeah, I think, I mean, obviously, it's towards the top of the track.
07:52I think it's number two, actually, after Aperture.
07:54There's a music video.
07:56Yeah.
07:56So, it seemed like there was the focus.
07:57The interest was there.
07:58Clearly, I mean, I feel like I also got to turn to, like, the resident Harry head up
08:03here.
08:03Is that what, what is it?
08:05Is it Harry heads?
08:06What are they?
08:06What's the group?
08:07Just Harry's.
08:08The Harry's.
08:09Harry's.
08:09My fault.
08:09Hello, Harry's.
08:11Oh.
08:12Yeah.
08:12Is that the one that people feel?
08:14Clearly, they're streaming it very well.
08:16But, like, it's not the one, it's like a deep cut that people are kind of like, this
08:19one should have got some love.
08:20I think for me, I love American Girls and the video coming out, the day the album dropped,
08:26everything lined up nicely.
08:28I am not sure that was my first pick for what was going to go crazy.
08:32But next, I want it to be Pop.
08:35Pop is a good one.
08:36I do like that song.
08:37And how'd you guys feel about him on SNL?
08:39I feel like everybody was talking about it.
08:42He's so good at that.
08:43Like, I don't know.
08:44I feel like he can do no wrong.
08:45He's so funny in some of his sketches.
08:47He just, he's able to speak really well.
08:50I loved his impersonation of Sebastian Maniscalco that he did with Marcelo.
08:54It was so funny.
08:56And I thought he nailed it.
08:57I mean, and you've been getting your acting chops on.
09:00So talk to me about K-pop.
09:01Yeah, so I star alongside Anderson Paak.
09:04He filmed K-pop, which is in AMC theaters at the moment.
09:07And I play a villain.
09:09Yeah.
09:10What's the better role for me to play?
09:12I know, you're such a nice guy.
09:13I'm like, that is crazy to think about you doing a villain.
09:15So how'd you lock into that role?
09:17No, yeah.
09:18Anderson let me play around with it.
09:20He's hilarious on set.
09:21And he's just such a good actor and musician and director.
09:26This is his directorial debut.
09:27And he let me play around with it.
09:29And he let me breathe the life into the role I play K-pop.
09:33Nice.
09:35Okay, a little dry ice.
09:36Sleek visuals.
09:38Tight formation.
09:39And tight abs.
09:40We're going to jump back into the chart.
09:42Let's look at three to one.
09:44I Just Might is down to three.
09:53With Man I Need up to two.
09:57I Know You're Meant to be the man I need.
10:01And landing a third week at number one is Ella Langley.
10:05Drinking Jack all by myself.
10:09He's choosing Texas, I can tell.
10:12And there is our top three on the Billboard Hot 100.
10:16Man, Bruno Mars.
10:17I'm so obsessed with that album.
10:18Have you listened?
10:18Of course.
10:19It's on repeat.
10:20It's so good.
10:21How are you guys feeling there about Bruno?
10:23Yeah, I mean, obviously for Bruno, I mean, look, I just mind continuing that momentum.
10:26We saw Risk It All in the top ten last week.
10:28I know people are kind of looking at that, the little bolero kind of flair going through.
10:32But, I mean, Bruno has been one of those big comeback stories people were eagerly anticipating.
10:36You know, as the minute he announced the album was done, I just might, of course, already been a number
10:40one hit for three weeks.
10:41So, staying in the top three, you know, at a time when the competition is going to start to heat
10:45up a little bit.
10:46Obviously, Harry came out this week.
10:47There's some more things coming down the line that I'm sure we'll jump into in just a second.
10:50So, for Bruno to still be in that conversation and the song doing so well at radio in particular, Bruno
10:55has always been a radio monster.
10:57So, that has really, you know, been a big support to him.
11:00I mean, Bruno doesn't seem like he's going to go anywhere anytime soon.
11:02So, you know, I Just Might is hanging on.
11:06Yeah, now, I've got to say, though, I feel like Man I Need is that song that has been needing
11:11to be number one.
11:12Trying, trying, trying, but keeps peaking at two.
11:15Like, what's happening?
11:16Is she going to get her chance at the number one spot?
11:18I was thinking the same thing.
11:19I feel like, obviously, I much love to Ella Langley and I love choosing Texas and Bruno Mars, this new
11:24album cycle.
11:25So exciting.
11:26But Man I Need has just been around for months and it's so huge.
11:29I love that song.
11:31She had a big look at the Grammys and all these other award shows.
11:34I feel like I'm not sure what push she needs to get to that next level at number one.
11:38But I don't know.
11:40I'm pushing for her.
11:41I hope it gets there.
11:43It really is like a people's champ record.
11:44I know a lot of people, you know, just maybe don't even follow the charts that closely.
11:49How could you not?
11:50But, like, there's a lot of folks out there who are just feeling like this has to be a number
11:54one.
11:54This song is everywhere.
11:55This is the song.
11:56And, obviously, for it to be number two for so long is exciting because Olivia, you know,
12:00who would have guessed Livy Dean was going to be at this level.
12:03But just to follow that one spot short, potentially.
12:05It's tough.
12:05Like you said, it's like, you know, the radio is kind of maxed out at this point.
12:09The streaming, you know, there's no real thing behind it that's going to happen.
12:12There's got to be some sort of X factor, some sort of remix, some sort of viral thing that catches
12:17on.
12:17It just feels like it's going to need one extra piece if it's going to go all that way.
12:22I just don't know what it is, what it's going to be.
12:24Maybe when the tour starts.
12:26But, you know, I mean, there's got to be something out there.
12:29So, hopefully, they can figure it out and, you know, hopefully get her up there.
12:33And, of course, Ella Langley.
12:35This is insane.
12:36Three weeks at number one.
12:38I know she's got to be head over heels and happy about this.
12:41How are you guys feeling about her?
12:42I love seeing a woman in country at number one.
12:45I think we've seen some number ones on the Hot 100, the 200, where it's been country and more so
12:51men.
12:52But seeing the girls being represented is huge.
12:55Absolutely.
12:56And we saw something so historic a few weeks ago when Ella Langley was number one and then Megan Maroney
13:01was number one on the Billboard 200.
13:02And it was the first time in history that we'd had a country album by a woman and a country
13:07song by a woman at number one at the same time.
13:10So, I feel like it's such an exciting time for country music and women in country music in particular.
13:15And the fact that Ella Langley is still hanging on is just super exciting and gets me excited for her
13:21full album, which I think it's Dandelion, which comes out in a few weeks.
13:25So, yeah, stay tuned.
13:26And speaking of excited for a full album, we got a real big one coming out on Friday.
13:32Talk about K-pop legends.
13:33BTS.
13:35I mean, how excited are you for this project?
13:37Oh, I am beyond excited.
13:38You know, the guys deserve all the success and the fans have been really patiently waiting for this long-awaited
13:45comeback.
13:46You know, I feel like they've become more mature in their sound and not only their artistry, but as a
13:52team.
13:52And I feel like, you know, we have really special solo moments.
13:56And for them to come back together is just going to be the most powerful moment ever.
14:01And then you were talking earlier about, did you say humbug is how you say it?
14:04Humbug, yeah, the traditional Korean wear.
14:05I've heard that that's what they want people to wear to the shows.
14:08Ooh, amazing.
14:09So, Korea guys, everybody that's going opening week, wear your humbug.
14:12Yes.
14:13And I also have, do you guys know how to say the album name?
14:16I want to test all of you right now.
14:18Ooh, I might need a hint.
14:19You know, I saw the clip of you on Instagram.
14:23See, I was so nervous.
14:25I was like, it's Arirang.
14:27Arirang.
14:27Yes.
14:29You guys got to practice, all right?
14:31We're going to do this.
14:31Okay, we got to get up to Tetris' level because clearly he's, you know, setting the bar.
14:35Yeah.
14:35Yeah.
14:36Arirang, how do you guys feel the boys are going to do on the chart?
14:39Once the whole album's out, what's the Hot 100 Top 10 going to look like?
14:43Woo.
14:44I mean, look, I mean, obviously, like I said, the setup for this album, it's one of those things that
14:47it's like, you know it's going to be big, massive.
14:50Just how big is really that question?
14:53Because, I mean, it's almost kind of crazy to think that it's time for this because I remember when everything
14:58was announced that they would have to go on pause for several years.
15:00It felt like, man, 2026 is so far away.
15:03And it's like, oh, here we are.
15:04And it's about to drop.
15:05The anticipation is like nothing we've ever seen, you know, even for a BTS project.
15:10So it's one of those things that just like years of anticipation waiting.
15:14And we've seen, obviously, what Bruno, what Harry have done with their comebacks.
15:17I mean, this could be like the mother of all comebacks.
15:21You know, they've had Hot 100 number ones before, so don't be surprised if they're in the mix there.
15:25But it just feels like this thing could be a tidal wave.
15:28Like, I don't even know how big.
15:29The mother of all comebacks.
15:31I do love that.
15:32Well, thank you guys so much for hanging out and chatting today.
15:35And Kevin, I can't believe after your crazy weekend at the Oscars, you came and stopped by.
15:39So thanks.
15:40Always a pleasure, Tetris.
15:41Of course.
15:41Thank you so much.
15:42We'll see you guys next week.
