00:00The National Irrigation Administration, or NIA, is implementing various measures to prevent delays in the irrigation of farmlands.

00:07This in effort to sustain rice production despite the rising prices of petroleum products.

00:13According to NIA Administrator Eduardo Guillén, key strategies include adjusting the cropping calendar to conserve water,

00:22coordinating with irrigators' associations to monitor irrigation projects,

00:25and building hydropower dams and solar pumping irrigation projects as long-term solutions.

00:32The agency is targeting the construction of one dam for each of the 18 major river basins in the country.
