00:06Hello nomads and welcome to our short guide to Planet Nomads Closed Alpha.
00:11We tried to make the game as straightforward as possible,
00:14still it features somewhat complex mechanics that we want to cover today.
00:18In the next few minutes we will show you how to build your first vehicle
00:21and connect everything together with BuildVision.
00:25Also a few other cool tips and tricks for the best experience.
00:29Let's get to it!
00:31When you first appear in the game,
00:33there is a small pop-up window telling you how to access the tutorial.
00:37You can go there by pressing the F1 key.
00:40Here you see all key bindings you need to play this game.
00:44Other parts of the tutorial show you how to access more blocks,
00:47how to build a vehicle and finally put it all together with BuildVision, step by step.
00:53We will cover all this right now, but if you ever get stuck,
00:56just access this tutorial for a quick help.
01:00Now, let's build a small exploration vehicle.
01:03You already have all the needed blocks at your disposal here in the hotbar.
01:07Let's start by building a jack to place our vehicle on.
01:11Press 2, aim on the ground and press the left mouse button.
01:15Blocks build instantly.
01:17A vehicle needs a cockpit for you to sit in.
01:20Just press 3, aim on top of the jack and build it.
01:25Sometimes you need a better view of your vehicle.
01:27You can achieve that by pressing V, switching you to third person view.
01:32Now, we need some space to put our generator and suspensions on.
01:36For this purpose, we will use the basic full block under key 1
01:40and build four of them in the back of the cockpit.
01:43Now, for the suspensions.
01:46Those are very important to place right.
01:48Press number 4 and place them.
01:50You need to make sure they are aiming towards the ground.
01:54To change their rotation, just scroll the middle mouse button.
01:58Don't worry about them jumping in the upward position.
02:01It's for easier building on non-flat ground.
02:04After placing suspensions, we can finally put on wheels under number 5.
02:09They appear with bunch of arrows around them.
02:13We can change them later with build vision.
02:15For now, it is important that the two-sided arrow faces forward in the direction of the vehicle.
02:21Just rotate the wheel until you get it right.
02:25We're almost done.
02:26Only a generator remains.
02:28Place it in the back of your car behind the cockpit.
02:31Now, let's get it on the ground.
02:33Go to the jack we built at the beginning and with any block selected,
02:37click on the jack with the right mouse button.
02:40It will delete it and apply physics to your vehicle.
02:43You can now access the cockpit by pressing E.
02:46But your vehicle won't move just yet. Not yet.
02:49We have to power it up with the generator and set up the wheels.
02:54And now is the time for build vision.
02:56Press tab to access it.
02:57This will switch you into augmented reality where you can't build,
03:01but you can easily tinker with settings of various blocks.
03:05Let's see it in action.
03:06Aim at the generator and a circle with several options will appear.
03:11We won't go through all of them.
03:13We are now only interested in connecting electricity.
03:17Aim and click left mouse button on the second option,
03:20which is called connect electricity.
03:22The cursor will change and you can now make a link between the generator and a wheel.
03:27Aim at the front wheel and a small icon with a power cord will appear.
03:32Click on the icon and it should be connected.
03:35A green light should run between them.
03:38Do the same for the second front wheel now.
03:41You can do more with build vision.
03:43Let's take a look at those front wheels again.
03:46Aim at one of them.
03:47There are more options available than there are for a generator.
03:50For now, we will only tell the wheels which way we want them to steer
03:54and which direction they should turn when going forward.
03:58To do that, use these two icons.
04:01You can cycle through their different states just by pressing the left mouse button.
04:06Make sure to set forward or backward direction so that the upper arrow points in front direction.
04:12All wheels are by default without steering.
04:16To change it, use the other icon called steering.
04:19The double-sided arrow should also point to the front direction of your vehicle.
04:24This option tells the wheel how to operate when A or D keys are pressed.
04:30Make the same setting for the other front wheel.
04:34Once this is done, you can drive your vehicle around.
04:37Just press E when aiming at the cockpit, hop in and take it for a spin.
04:42If your vehicle doesn't behave like it does here on the video,
04:45try to fiddle with the wheel settings some more
04:48and make sure their steering and direction spin is set up correctly.
04:55Now, we will show you some techniques which may come handy when playing the game
04:59and building some more advanced stuff.
05:02Let's start with the building block catalog.
05:04We already showed you six blocks, but these are just a few of the many you can use.
05:09Just press B and take a look around.
05:11To use a block, just drag and drop it down to your hotbar with the left mouse button.
05:17You can also do that with a double click, which will put the block in the first free slot in
05:21the hotbar, if there is one.
05:23More advanced function is to hover over a block and press CTRL plus a specific number,
05:29which will transfer the block into the hotbar onto that position, no matter if it's taken or not.
05:35To filter blocks, just use the options on the left.
05:37You can also mark your most used blocks as favorites by pressing the right mouse button.
05:43They will be shown in the favorite filter on the left.
05:46Use right click again to remove the block from favorites.
05:51Now to building.
05:52Sometimes you need to build at a different angle than usual.
05:56It can be done easily by pressing the X button with the block selected.
06:00That changes the axis around which the block rotates, and you do that by scrolling the mouse wheel.
06:07You can cycle through different axes by pressing X repeatedly.
06:12There is also an indicator that changes its outline color while positioning new blocks.
06:17If it's green, that means the block doesn't collide with anything and is safe to place.
06:22If it is yellow, the block collides with the terrain.
06:25You can still place it, but know that it will be stuck in the ground.
06:29Red means that it cannot be placed because it collides with other objects.
06:34The terrain and your surroundings are fully destructible and can be shaped pretty much to your imagination.
06:39For this purpose, you have two tools hidden under the T key.
06:44The drill is best used to remove rocks and ground and the cutter is for trees and bushes.
06:52Press T again to cycle through them.
06:55To hide the tools, press H. This also works for blocks.
06:59And the last thing, if it gets too dark, you can press F for flashlight.
07:04We hope this guide contains everything you'll need while playing Planet Nomads Alpha.
