00:00Hello everyone!
00:01In this tutorial I'm gonna teach you how to sew a quilted bag step by step.
00:06Use three types of material.
00:08Top layer, the face, synthetic padding and the lining fabric.
00:14Complete the sandwich for quilting.
00:16Put the lining fabric on the table face down.
00:19Place the synthetic padding on it.
00:22Cover these layers with the main fabric face up.
00:25See what we got?
00:26In this way we completed the base for quilting.
00:29I have advice for you.
00:31Don't use stretched fabrics for quilting.
00:34Ok, sew these layers with thread using basting stitches.
00:38Don't pull the thread too tightly, just enough to fix the layers together.
00:42Next we need to mark the pattern for the stitching.
00:45Connect the corners of the rectangle crosswise with straight lines.
00:49Next we continue the pattern with straight parallel lines in step of 1 inch or 25 mm.
00:59This quilting requires a twin needle.
01:03I used two colors of thread.
01:05In my opinion the result is more impressive.
01:09Set your sewing machine to a straight stitch with a stitching length of 3-4 mm.
01:17Let's begin quilting.
01:19Sew the stitch along the pattern line slowly, keeping one needle in line.
01:23The second parallel line will be created automatically.
01:32So you need to stitch all the lines first in one direction.
01:38Then finish drawing the template and stitch the lines in the other direction.
02:00And that is the result.
02:01We are going to use this base to sew a bag.
02:04I fixed the pattern to the fabric using paper tape.
02:07This will ensure it stays in place and prevent it from shifting.
02:12Copy the shape of the main detail by the outline.
02:14I have left a link to the pattern in the video direction.
02:18Please download it, it is free.
02:21Coffee break, hi!
02:23And make a fixing stitch by this line.
02:25Try to draw exactly in the line with stitching.
02:46That is what we got.
02:48We need two such base details.
02:53Next we need to prepare the handles.
02:55I use the old pens for it.
02:57Draw the straps as a blank for the handles and cut out them.
03:01All neat measures you can see on the screen.
03:05Fork the straps in half and pin them.
03:09Make a stitch along the free edge.
03:11Simulons is 5 mm.
03:17Now turn it right side out and iron.
03:22Make fixing stitches along the edges.
03:27Step 4 inches or 10 cm from the edges and fold the middle part.
03:33Make a stitch in this place.
03:40We have two handles now.
03:42Prepare the back side of the bag first.
03:45Put the handle on the marked place like I showed in my video and make stitches.
03:50Then open the handle up and make stitches by the square line.
03:56Done.
03:58Cut out the detail by stepping from the outline in 3 mm.
04:12This is the back side.
04:15And now we will prepare the front side of the bag.
04:18Mark the place and stitch in there handle straight upside like in the video.
04:30Now prepare the pocket.
04:31I use a piece of old blouse and the main fabric.
04:34Just join face to face these materials and stitch along the line.
04:39Cut out.
04:45And turn the right side out.
04:50Iron the pocket.
04:52Make a stitch along the top line edge.
04:57Place the pocket on the base and stitch along its edge.
05:02Repeat the section sewing the flap.
05:05Remember all the details are in the pattern I left for you.
05:10Place the flap on the base and stitch close to the edge line.
05:15Open the flap up.
05:17And stitch again with seamolones about 5 mm.
05:24Set the buttons and cut out the base.
05:37Now we have two sides of the future bag.
05:43Prepare the lining.
05:44As you can see it's just rectangles which are the same size as a base.
05:49Also we need a zipper.
05:51Place zipper face side down and cover it with a lining.
05:55Make a stitch.
05:56Seem allowance about 7 mm.
06:02Open it, iron and turn.
06:10Then make a fixing stitch here.
06:19Put the second lining on the table face up.
06:22Cover it with a base plan.
06:23Then put the back side base on the slayers face down.
06:27Make the stitch along the zipper edge.
06:30Open the base and make a fixing stitching along the zipper from the other side.
06:38That is we got.
06:40The next step.
06:41Sew along the edge of the entire base.
06:44We are going to fix the lining in the base in this way.
06:56And this is the result.
06:58Just cut off the extra edges of the lining fabric.
07:11Also I decided to add such a long strap holders here.
07:19This is the last part of sewing the bag.
07:22We need to prepare such two rectangles.
07:24The base and the lining.
07:26It will be the bottom part.
07:28Put the lining on the table face up.
07:30Cover with the back face up.
07:32And then put the bottom base face down.
07:34Make a stitch here.
07:36Open the blank.
07:42Iron it and make fixing stitch here.
07:48Now join the three edges of the bottom with the base.
07:51Like this from both sides.
07:54See lining and the base are joining with this side.
08:02Then turn it right side out.
08:07And make a stitch here.
08:11Fix the layers of the bottom parts together by stitching along the edge.
08:24That is what we have now.
08:27Turn the blank inside out and join the front and back sides with the bottom detail like you see in
08:34my video.
08:38Fix with handle stitching.
08:47Now we need to stitch the edge with seam allowance about 7 mm.
08:48Prepare the strap.
08:49We are going to cover the cut edges with this tape.
08:54Attach the strap to the cut edge.
08:56Fix it.
09:04Now we need to stitch the edge with seam allowance about 7 mm.
09:20Make the same actions from the both sides.
09:27Turn out the strap and cover the edge with it.
09:30Fold it twice and fix with handle stitching.
09:44And done.
09:46See what we got.
09:47We made the quilting back at home by own hands.
09:53I hope there were not any difficult moments during the sewing.
09:57I tried to explain all my action clearly.
10:01Sorry for any grammatical errors or as well as pronunciation errors.
10:07I always try to voice over the video for you to best understanding the process.
10:12But it's still difficult for me not to make mistakes.
10:15Anyway, I hope you like the result.
10:18To have a good quilting result is much easier than you can imagine.
10:23Just do it on the training model blank before sewing the back and you will be in the best result.
10:28The video is finishing.
10:30Now you can sew it with your own hands.
10:32Thank you for watching and see you in the other tutorials.
10:35Bye!
