00:00The threats. Good morning, Ginger. Yeah, the damage pictures here, Deborah, from about 40 miles north of Fort Worth, Texas.
00:05That's a Walmart distribution center. The roof was kind of torn apart, gusts nearby up to 68 miles per hour.
00:11Now, there were 55 severe storm reports that also included some big hail up to one inch close to that
00:16damage that we saw.
00:17But you also had some of these storm reports all the way up to Minnesota.
00:20This is near the Twin Cities where they were seeing that hail on the deck.
00:23Remember, hail comes from severe thunderstorms, meaning heat kind of fuels those.
00:27Today, we're going to see that later tonight, especially in this area, including Wichita and Oklahoma City, Omaha by tonight.
00:34And then tomorrow, we're going to open up the skies again. Little Rock gets into it.
00:37North Texas. So remember, right on the edge of Dallas, up to Jonesboro as well.
00:41Rebecca, wow, that hail.
00:42And Rebecca, Hurricane Gabrielle is doing the thing we love to see hurricanes do, stay far away from everyone.
00:47So right now, it's passing about 200 miles southeast of Bermuda.
00:51It's going to intensify because the waters are super warm out there, but it's going to keep on being a
00:55fish storm,
00:56meaning only for anyone out there. Now, obviously, Bermuda will have some large surf.
01:00You could even see some of those outer, outer bands, but overall, pretty good.
01:04We will even have some rip current risks from Florida right up through the Outer Banks into the Jersey Shore
01:09and Long Island as well.
01:10Gabrielle, not alone. That's the problem is we're right in the heart of when we're going to see Atlantic hurricane
01:16season be very busy.
01:17And so there are a couple of areas in the Atlantic we're watching for potential development to become depressions.
01:22And then the next named storms, nothing's concrete yet, but just two areas that we'll be watching.
01:27Your local weather now in 30 seconds.
01:30Welcome back to GMA. We've got a nice shot from Big Sky, Montana.
01:33They had their first little snow last week, which is totally normal for this time of year.
01:37A little bit of rain in the foreground, and they're about to warm up to almost 10 degrees above average
01:42by the midweek.
01:43So we will be seeing numbers like that.
01:45Today, though, the warmth is down in Midland or Austin, Dallas, all there in the mid-90s.
01:50Even a little bit around the Great Lakes and throughout the southeast, slightly above average.
01:53But look what happens in the northern Rockies from Idaho, Portland, Oregon, all the way over to Billings, Montana.
01:59Going to stay real warm by Wednesday.
02:01And then Friday, that expands into the northern plains.
02:04You see Minneapolis there, nearly 80 degrees.
02:07And yes, fall officially starts later this afternoon, so it's not looking necessarily like it.
02:11Next week, by the way, that warmth sticks around, likely warmer than normal from the Rockies up through the northern
02:17plains.
02:17Coming up, the latest on the cyber attack causing chaos at airports over the weekend.
02:22Also, the rush for sorority coaches, why some families are spending thousands of dollars to help their daughters get in.
02:28Actually had thunderstorms again this morning.
02:29We've seen issues at the airports.
02:31This is about 40 miles north of Fort Worth, Texas, because they had that gust up to nearly 68 miles
02:37per hour, ripping the Walmart distribution center's roof right there.
02:40Then the hail, up to one inch in diameter in Sanger, but it wasn't just there.
02:45There were more than 55 severe storm reports that extended all the way up to close to the Twin Cities,
02:49so you also saw hail there.
02:51Hail comes from those convective thunderstorms that have to rise with a lot of heat, right, and then get instigated.
02:56That's going to happen this afternoon and throughout the overnight in parts of Kansas and Oklahoma.
03:01That's where we have a level 2 out of 5.
03:03You saw we stopped it there like between 10 and 2 a.m.
03:05That's when the worst of those storms were coming through along the state line, but you could see them even
03:09earlier.
03:10Omaha, keep that in mind.
03:11And then Gabrielle, it's a hurricane just about 200 miles or so southeast of Bermuda.
03:16It will keep intensifying because there's really warm water out there, but it's also going to keep away from land,
03:22which we love.
03:23We also, though, do have high surf and rip currents, and Rebecca just got the National Hurricane Center update.
03:2870% chance for that next one to develop into our next tropical depression and get a name potentially later
03:33this week.
03:33Wow, and I'm sure you will continue to stay on that.
03:35Thank you so much.
03:37All right, so autumnal equinox happens this afternoon at 219 Eastern Time.
03:41New York City woke up with the coolest temp that we've had since last spring.
03:45It was 41 degrees at Central Park, but we're about to warm up to an average mid-70s today.
03:50We'll actually go a little bit warmer as we head into tomorrow and then even Wednesday, and there will be
03:56some rain coming through this week.
03:57Boston's going to be much, look at 82 above average next couple of months, because why not look at the
04:03fall ahead?
04:04October through December looking likely warmer than normal, especially in the southwest, but pretty much most of the nation seeing
04:11above.
04:11Let's get a check now a little closer to Haka.
04:13Okay, so let's look at Dallas this morning, getting a little sun in there after the storms.
04:17They even had a ground stop earlier this morning.
04:19Today headed up into the mid-90s, so eight degrees above normal.
04:23And we will see some cooling, but it's going to take a front that's going to cause more storms, and
04:26so you'll get those.
04:28Look at even tomorrow up to 97.
04:29Some of the other numbers are staying much more above average than fall would be.
04:34And speaking of, the likely warmer than normal sticks around as we head through next week.
04:39That's the big picture.
04:40Let's get a check now a little closer to home.
04:41Who run the world?
04:43Girls!
04:44GMA!
04:46See you, Milo!
04:47Nice to see you!
