00:22for the sector from the Transportation Department to the tune of 2.5 billion pesos,

00:32President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Transportation
00:36to defer the approved price hike in public transport fares.
00:41According to President Marcos Jr., the fare hike is not timely.
00:45Filipinos continue to feel the impact of the crisis in the Middle East.

01:13The fare increase was supposed to take effect tomorrow, March 19.
01:17The approved hike included 1 peso for traditional jeepneys,
01:212 pesos for modern jeepneys and for ordinary buses,
01:25and 3 pesos for air-conditioned units.
01:28This following appeals from drivers struggling with soaring fuel prices,
01:32but the President offers assurance to transport workers.
01:35The government has begun distributing 5,000 pesos in cash assistance
01:40under the Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation
01:43or IECS program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
01:47Separate from this, a 2.5 billion peso fuel subsidy
01:51from the Transportation Department is also being rolled out.
