00:00The government continues to coordinate with the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board, or LTFRB,
00:06and the Department of Transportation, or DOTR, on the petitions for fare increases amidst rising petroleum prices.
00:13The palace says the LTFRB is currently conducting hearings to thoroughly study the need for a fare hike.
00:19However, the LTFRB's initial assessment indicates that a new fare hike for jeepneys is premature,
00:26as the provisional one-peso fare increase is still in effect,
00:30adding that it is considered sufficient to mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs on drivers and operators.
00:36It was pointed out that if any fare hike is approved, the LTFRB's priority will be buses,
00:42which have not yet been granted a provisional increase.
