00:00I really hope that if there's one good thing that can come out of an awful situation,
00:10it's the general public awareness of the importance of taking up vaccinations where they are available.
00:15They remain one of the best public health tools available to us,
00:21and it is on one hand a very good thing that there are few people alive in this country today
00:27who remember the dark days where this country didn't have a national health service
00:33and didn't have vaccination available for common treatments.
00:37It's wonderful that we now live in a country where there are very distant memories
00:41of some of those everyday conditions being widespread killers,
00:44but there is also a real risk of a return to those Victorian conditions
00:48because of that misinformation, anti-science, irresponsible political positioning
00:53that we see in certain corners of even this house.
00:57So I really hope that politicians in particular will think carefully and responsibly
01:02about our shared duty to the public to help people be protected.
