00:15Hey everyone Daniel Kizer here at E3 2017
00:17Getting ready to talk with Koji Iguirashi
00:19About Bloodstained Ritual of the Night
00:22A huge game here at E3
00:24That we're all excited about
00:25So Iguirashi-chan thank you so much for joining us
00:28Tell us what this project has shaped up to be over the last year since we've last seen it.
00:35So one of the biggest differences from last year, we also released an E3 demo playable last year as well.
00:42And one of the first things that people will notice is that the environments are all hand-drawn and everything.
00:49But in order to sort of speed up the process of developing,
00:53we decided to go for sort of this, like, procedure generation to add in the stains, add in some of
00:59the broken pieces,
01:01randomize a couple of the environment assets, and also, we've also adjusted a little bit of the motions in the
01:08game.
01:09So for those new to Bloodstained, talk a little bit about the main character and how her story impacts her
01:15progression throughout the game.
01:16Miriam is our main character, and she's an orphan who is cursed with this, slowly crystallizes her body,
01:23and she's able to use this sort of demonic power.
01:26And ten years ago, she was used as a sacrifice for this ritual,
01:32which a group of alchemists' guild was trying to resurrect sort of these demons.
01:37Fortunately, she was able to survive this ritual.
01:41Miriam woke up ten years later, and she found out that this person that also survived the ritual
01:47was her dear friend, G-Bell, who resurrected this demon-filled castle.
01:52And in order to stop him, she is going towards the castle and is going to face him.
01:59Can you talk a little bit about the skills that the player will have in the game
02:02as they're traversing the castle from their weapons to the skill set that they'll have when navigating the platforming aspects
02:11of the game?
02:13There's an ability, we have new ability and skills that we're able to use in this game,
02:19which are called shards in the game, which is a crystallized version of demon power in the game.
02:25And Miriam, the main character, is able to sort of obtain these abilities through enemies that appear in the game.
02:34So she uses that to maneuver the map, such as double jump and other movement skills that she's able to
02:43obtain.
02:43And it's also used for weapons and kind of like magic kind of ability for it as well.
02:50So let's talk a little bit about how Unreal Engine has helped you throughout development of this project.
02:56From the Kickstarter initially to now getting ready to release, what has it been like working in Unreal Engine?
03:02So one of the biggest advancements that we're able to utilize with Unreal Engine 4
03:07is that we're able to create this sort of high-quality environment assets very easily.
03:13and that was one of the biggest sort of advantage we had.
03:17And also, from the question from before, using procedural generation really helped us for this project.
03:25Okay, so have we had a release date announced for Bloodstained?
03:27When can we expect to get our hands on it?
03:30We are planning to release it in 2018.
03:34Fantastic. Thank you so much for your time.
03:36Have a wonderful E3.
