00:03Hi everyone, my name is Paul Kesselin, I'm a multiplayer producer over here at DICE on Star Wars Battlefront 2
00:07and we're going to take a look at Strike on Takadana.
00:10In the open beta we have our new game mode Strike which is kind of one of our smaller game
00:16modes
00:16and in this one you are attempting to take an artifact out of Maz's castle and extract it.
00:24Hopefully in this game mode people will be able to get a lot more of that close-knit gameplay without
00:30any heroes getting in the way.
00:31It's a bit more about troopers and the reinforcements that we have available.
00:34So it's again, it's a bit more infantry based, there's no vehicles so it's trying to have some really tight
00:41-knit gameplay allowing classes to shine.
00:43In Strike we have, it's an AV-8 game mode so 16 players will be running around.
00:48You see here some of the resistance troopers that we have, the four various classes.
00:52There's the assault class, the heavy class, the officer and the specialist.
00:57And some of their star cards.
00:58Star cards are a way for you to increase the level of customization for your character.
01:03So if you want to play as the assault class and you want, you really want to focus on having
01:08a great grenade.
01:09You know, this allows you to upgrade your grenade over time so it does more damage or maybe it has
01:13a larger explosion radius.
01:16You're trying to collect cards to give yourself more gameplay tools in your toolbox for each of your various classes.
01:21And the beta is just a sliver of what we have available.
01:24But we want to give players a taste of what they'll experience when the game launches.
01:28But without showing all of our available options.
01:32But this is really about letting you have a small taste.
01:35We want players to work together as a team.
01:38As you spawn in, we want to make sure that people are trying to pick the right classes that complement
01:42each other.
01:43That way you can get in there and try to work with, say, the officer, which is one of my
01:47favorite classes.
01:49Do they want to sit there and buff the team, try to get into that point, grab the artifact and
01:53get out of there.
01:56So ideally, and especially a lot of the close quarters areas, once you get inside the castle is where you're
02:00going to rely a lot on your teammates to make that stuff happen.
02:04This map is, again, very iconic based on the latest movie.
02:08And I think that players will be pleasantly surprised about how particular and how very attention to detail focused we
02:15are and bringing that area to life.
02:17In this scenario, we're not trying to recreate anything from the movie.
02:20So we're not having them steal, like, Ray's, the lightsaber that Ray finds, for example.
02:25We want to keep it a bit more not encroaching on the story of the movies because then, you know,
02:29we run into situations where,
02:31well, are we trying to retell the story of the movie? Are we not?
02:34This is more about having an authentic, believable world and then allowing people to play around in that area without
02:40being, you know, tying ourselves too closely to the story.
