00:03Turn around, keep going, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, stop.
00:06Ah, yes, billowing tarps, yes.
00:09Ah, the power of PlayStation 4.
00:16Hello, my friends, and welcome back to PlayStation Underground.
00:18On today's show, an episode I am very excited about,
00:21we are playing Yakuza 6, The Song of Life,
00:23which is out on PS4 April 17th.
00:26Joining me for the program today is Scott and Jacob.
00:28Gentlemen, welcome to the program.
00:30Thanks for having us.
00:31Thank you.
00:31It is very nice to have you.
00:32I'm glad we're starting in the bright lights
00:34and dazzling of this district.
00:37Jacob, why don't you start us off?
00:39Tell me a little bit about what Yakuza 6
00:41is bringing to the table in April.
00:43Yeah, absolutely.
00:44So Yakuza 6, The Song of Life,
00:46is an emotional journey for the character Kazuma Kiryu.
00:51It's a moment where we get some resolution with his family,
00:56his adopted family, his daughter Haruka,
00:58who's currently in a coma when you first start off the game.
01:02And as you progress, you find out that she has a baby,
01:05and you find out that there's some mystery behind that accident.
01:11And it is now up to Kiryu to find out what that mystery is.
01:15It sounds like there's a lot going on
01:17just in the literal setup of the story.
01:20Oh, my. Hello.
01:22Scott, you decided to really just go ham right from the start here.
01:26because while he's discovering the mystery of his daughter,
01:28he's also beating up thugs and solving the danger to dating.
01:34Congratulations.
01:34Good job on that one.
01:36Holy smokes.
01:37So in Yakuza 6, The Song of Life,
01:39there's this social media platform called Troubler
01:43where it's up to Kiryu to go around and solve this town's crime problems.
01:50It's a social messaging board where people can post their problems,
01:53and naturally that's what Kiryu is good at solving.
01:56So he gets in there and he solves problems.
01:57He is a problem solver.
01:59Wait, I still have to wrap my mind around sort of the very dramatic story
02:05that starts this is that there's someone in a coma.
02:10There's a baby that we didn't know about.
02:12We're solving problems on social media.
02:15There's a lot going on here.
02:16Yes.
02:17But, Jacob, mysteriously, you told me before this recording
02:20that this is a great game to jump into if you've never played a Yakuza game before.
02:25Yes.
02:25And you're sticking by that.
02:26I'm absolutely sticking by that.
02:28I think that, of course, if people would like to start with Yakuza 0,
02:33that's probably a good place to go.
02:34But for those who want to just jump in to this,
02:39it provides ample background right at the beginning.
02:42We've got like 45 minutes of cut scenes lined up at the top of this thing.
02:45They explain everything that happened.
02:47Scott here spent a very large amount of time on text in a memory section.
02:55It is a synopsis of each game.
02:57but it doesn't quite spoil the nuance of each.
03:00Awesome.
03:00There's also an experience site we've built with comic books
03:06and motion comics that people can view
03:07as well as sort of a timeline and connections with each of the clans.
03:13It will help catch people up.
03:15So, yes, there's an abundant number of resources
03:18for people who want to jump in here.
03:20And that will not spoil a lot of the fun of the previous titles
03:24if they would like to jump into them later.
03:25That's fantastic.
03:26One of the things about Yakuza and the world
03:29that fans have discussed many times,
03:34it has an abundant number of sub-stories.
03:37It has an abundant number of minigames.
03:39Yes, of course, there's your main story,
03:41but each of the sub-stories is also lovingly crafted
03:46and has just as much detail and in some cases character development
03:49as parts of that main story.
03:52So I love that I was just about to comment on the exterior of this bar.
03:59And then Scott went inside the bar.
04:02I know what to do.
04:02So it's open world with interiors.
04:04Absolutely.
04:05So that's a new thing in Yakuza 6 is they have the dragon engine.
04:10And what that allows for, seamless transitions inside.
04:13Look how seamless.
04:14That used to be a load screen.
04:15You were outside.
04:17Now, baby, you better believe we're inside the bar.
04:19That's right.
04:20Oh, are we going to play a little darts alive?
04:21Let's play some drunken darts.
04:22I'm at six levels of alcohol.
04:24So I want to see what I can do here.
04:26Wait, really?
04:27So, yeah.
04:27This is one of those minigames in Yakuza 6, obviously.
04:31There's others as well.
04:34There's a batting cage sim.
04:36I love just the seriousness with Switch.
04:40Cosma takes everything.
04:44Nice.
04:44Very nice.
04:45See, most people when you play darts,
04:47they go for the bullseye.
04:48But what you've got to understand
04:49is that triple 20 is way better than bullseye.
04:51Okay.
04:52Okay.
04:52Now, why is that?
04:54It's worth more.
04:54I'm not really a darts expert.
04:55It's worth more.
04:57What's worth more?
04:5750 in the bullseye or triple 20?
04:59Do some math for me.
05:01Live.
05:02I mean, triple 20 would be 60, right?
05:06There you have it.
05:07I'm not like, I've got to see in math, but I can multiply.
05:09Part of me was hoping that the whole episode would stall out there
05:13as you tried to do the math in your head.
05:15But no, we soldiered on just fine.
05:17Let me go through a little bit.
05:19For the viewer that might really not be familiar with Yakuza,
05:23first of all, shame on you.
05:24Second, I'm just kidding.
05:25All are welcome.
05:26All are welcome.
05:28Yakuza has always combined kind of a very, like,
05:32classic crime dramatic story.
05:35A very, like, kind of not in some cases wide linear,
05:39in other cases just full open world gameplay experience, right?
05:43In terms of being able to kind of pick where you want to go,
05:47play mini games.
05:48It's very different in the open world sense, I think,
05:51than what some are used to.
05:52Because the focus isn't necessarily on having this gigantic map,
05:58but it's rather having, it's a smaller space,
06:01but it's really, really dense.
06:02There is a lot to do inside of that space.
06:06There's a lot of different people with a lot of their own problems
06:09that Kiryu runs into and helps.
06:12Or goes drinking and plays darts by himself.
06:16We're not solving a lot of problems today, but, you know.
06:19We've already solved two on Troubler.
06:20I think you have to, you know,
06:22when you're solving everyone's problems,
06:23you have to take a break and get a drink and play some darts.
06:27Oh, no. The legendary darts player, Paul Lim,
06:29had decided he wants a game like a darts.
06:31Nani?
06:32Nani?
06:33So this isn't one of those sub-stories.
06:38This guy is a real piece of work, Scott.
06:40I will go ahead and just, oh, I won't get through this.
06:42I'm too busy. I'm too busy.
06:44Oh, okay.
06:44I'm on PlayStation Underground here, guys.
06:45Come on.
06:46I can't play an all-time playing box.
06:48All right. Well, the legendary darts player,
06:50we can go talk with him later, I guess.
06:52I'll still be there later.
06:53Yeah, absolutely.
06:55But anyway, yeah, to your point, Jacob,
06:57it's an extremely dense play space is, I guess,
06:59what I was trying to communicate.
07:01Behold the density.
07:02And this game itself isn't just in Kamurocho.
07:04There's also Anamichi, right?
07:06So there's two separate places, very different.
07:09Kamurocho at Night is gorgeous in its own way,
07:11and it's sort of, I would say, like, glowy and gritty,
07:15while Anamichi is like this nice dark beach town with boats.
07:19Super sleepy port town.
07:21Super sleepy.
07:21It's very contrasting to what we're seeing with Kamurocho.
07:23On the surface it seems calm.
07:25Maybe there's something else going on there.
07:26Oh, my.
07:28Oh, my.
07:29But, you know, the way Kiryu kills time there is very different
07:33than Kamurocho 2.
07:34Yeah.
07:35Are you still three drinks in, Scott?
07:38I am still three drinks in.
07:39I'm going to burn some calories off right now.
07:40Okay.
07:41Great.
07:41Right outside the market.
07:43I want to take this in the market.
07:45No, I want to take this in the market.
07:46Okay.
07:46Wait, really?
07:47Okay.
07:47This is a big thing in Yakuza 6 is you can take people
07:51inside the convenience store.
07:52Are you kidding me?
07:53Beat them up.
07:54That's right.
07:54One of my favorite heat actions right here is Essence of
07:57Electromagnetic Torture with the Popo convenience store,
08:00guys, helping you out.
08:02You can beat up this whole convenience store if you so desire.
08:28So that was amazing that we could actually just see that fight scene
08:31inside a market.
08:33All of it is very seamless, even the fighting.
08:35Oh, wait. Stop.
08:36I want to see the billowing tarp on that ceiling.
08:39Wait.
08:39Turn around.
08:40Keep going.
08:41Turn.
08:41Turn.
08:42Stop.
08:43Oh, yes.
08:43Billowing tarps.
08:44Yes.
08:45Ah.
08:46The power of PlayStation 4.
08:50Billowing tarps.
08:50And the lighting capabilities.
08:52Look at how great Kamurocho looks.
08:54Never looked better.
08:55It is actually.
08:56I will say there are a few games that can capture the sort
08:59of Japanese downtown nightlife as Yakuza.
09:04Now I would hope that there's not as much severe violence
09:08happening in real life downtown Tokyo.
09:11Let's hope not.
09:12Yeah.
09:12Let's hope not.
09:13But this is a fictionalization.
09:15Anyway, yeah.
09:16Scott, where are you going to take us today?
09:18What are you thinking?
09:19I've just been kind of cruising around town,
09:20but I think maybe it's time to hit the gym.
09:23Yeah.
09:23All right.
09:24After that pizza we had earlier.
09:25Yeah.
09:26Probably a good idea.
09:26Let's burn some more calories.
09:28Oh.
09:28I got another troubled mission right here.
09:30Let's save some people.
09:32I'm pretty powered up in this particular save,
09:34just so you know.
09:34If you think the combat looks like I'm crushing dudes,
09:37I kind of am.
09:37Okay.
09:38Just so you know.
09:39Tell me a little bit about the combat and how this compares.
09:41First of all, you just bloodied up that wall a little bit.
09:44So you just gave a poor city worker some more extra work.
09:48Tell me.
09:49Oh, my goodness.
09:50Okay.
09:50Well, didn't follow my advice.
09:52You wanted a bloody wall.
09:53Tell me a little bit about how the combat differs
09:55from previous Yakuza games.
09:57So the combat's been completely rebuilt for the Dragon Engine.
09:59You are essentially down to your one kind of legendary style,
10:03but the way you build Kiryu, and I'll show you that in a
10:05second, is completely free form and up to you.
10:07As you can kind of see when you complete these things,
10:09you're getting like five different levels of XP,
10:11and those are all different categories of how you can spend
10:14that XP.
10:15So if we go to our stats here, I can upgrade particular things
10:19with particular levels of those particular XP.
10:22I can spend my money on battle skills,
10:24which mostly cost the red.
10:25heat action type stuff to learn new moves,
10:27make the moves more powerful.
10:29And then you've got these social skills like sprinting
10:31and talking to girls and all these kinds of things that you can
10:33do on the side to make that power-up better.
10:36Scott, we kind of got interrupted,
10:37and I don't think I caught where your goal was.
10:40Where did you want to take us?
10:41I'm going to the Rise App Gym.
10:42This is an actual gym in Japan.
10:44And we are going to do some working out because Kiryu doesn't
10:47feel like beating up Thugs is quite enough of a workout here.
10:50I think that would be the ultimate workout, isn't it?
10:54Oh, I'm ready to train.
10:55It works like different muscle groups,
10:56fighting Thugs versus getting in the gym.
10:58Very specifically focused.
11:00Got to focus on the triceps.
11:02I like that Kiryu just immediately changed into his gym wear.
11:07Right?
11:07So what are we feeling today, guys?
11:09What sounds like jump squats?
11:10Never skip leg day, yeah.
11:12Jump squats.
11:13Okay. Let's do some jump squats.
11:15Let's give this guy a second to set up our jump squats.
11:19I want Kiryu's haircut.
11:21Yeah?
11:21Yeah.
11:22I mean, it looks real good.
11:24I would also say I want it,
11:26but I have a bit of a different style with haircuts now.
11:29That's true.
11:30Yeah. It's a little bit different.
11:34Ladies and gentlemen, you're seeing right here what makes
11:37the height of the Yakuza gameplay.
11:41This is our hero.
11:44Oh, come on, Scott.
11:46You know, I think one of the things missing maybe from some other
11:50games out there is what they do in their downtime when they're
11:52not saving the world.
11:53Right.
11:54And we're really trying to highlight that with going here.
11:56Jam.
11:57I love it.
11:58I love it.
11:59Still got my S.
11:59Still got my S.
12:00And the Yakuza games are famous for this, right?
12:03Yes.
12:03Having distractions aplenty, but not only tying them into the
12:08world itself and making it believable and fun, but also giving you
12:13some gameplay incentives as well.
12:15It's about balancing out sometimes the tonality of the game.
12:19The game hits upon some very serious emotional moments.
12:22It's a very heavy game.
12:23This one is a masher one.
12:25Right.
12:26And without moments like this, I think that moments like this serve to
12:30give the player a break from those.
12:32from the levity.
12:34Just a breath.
12:35A breath of sweaty gym air to clean out the emotional.
12:39Just like at the end of any of our days, right?
12:40We need to take a break.
12:40We go to the gym.
12:42I mean, I don't.
12:43But I'm glad you do.
12:44Yeah.
12:44I'm very glad you do.
12:46Yeah.
12:48Good job, man.
12:48Any of us should probably do that.
12:50But yeah.
12:51Hey, what are you saying?
12:52Hey, Jacob.
12:53What are you saying, sir?
12:54This episode is over.
12:55I always have a training evaluation.
12:58So that guy right there, he is a real person.
13:01He's an actual trainer in the Rise Up gym,
13:04in the actual Rise Up gym.
13:05Wait, really?
13:06Yeah, for real.
13:06They put him in the game.
13:09The little touches, the little realism touches are so great.
13:13All right.
13:14And then Scott decides that we're just going to skip through all
13:17this dialogue.
13:18Scott puts in hours and hours in this dialogue that he's skipping.
13:22It's my own dialogue.
13:24I'll skip it if I want.
13:25Fair enough.
13:25Fair enough.
13:26We only have so much time here.
13:28Yeah, I just wanted to kind of get through this because I wanted
13:29to be able to see that this man is going to give us a meal plan
13:31after we go through the process of working out.
13:33You understand, right?
13:34For health, it's not just working out that's important.
13:37You have to eat healthy too.
13:38You got to feed those muscle fibers.
13:41What are we promoting again?
13:42Is this a Yakuza video?
13:44Is this like a workout video?
13:46I don't even know anymore.
13:47It's funny to say that I actually really think that this is part of
13:50why people love it so much.
13:51is because it really each of these small little mini games has a huge
13:55amount of depth.
13:57They're actually not so small.
13:59They're almost games unto themselves.
14:00I was about to say even like the amount of like the UI,
14:05the different like the stuff in the gym,
14:09all the decorations of the environment,
14:11there's a lot going on there.
14:12There is.
14:13There's full arcades, of course.
14:15You have retro titles like Outrun.
14:17Space Harrier.
14:18You have full games like Pollo Pollo.
14:21Oh, my gosh.
14:22Yes.
14:22And there's even two-player on that.
14:24Oh.
14:24Are those thugs?
14:26You were called it with the thugs.
14:28Sometimes they're menacing men.
14:29Yeah.
14:30How does it decide whether they're menacing men or thugs?
14:32I actually, you never know what you're going to find on the
14:35streets of Kamurocho.
14:35Oh, Jacob.
14:36Oh.
14:38Right into the bicep.
14:39Oh, no.
14:41I wanted to use the bike.
14:42Me too.
14:43Get up.
14:44Kazuma-san, get up.
14:45You can do it.
14:47I got shanked.
14:49Oh, no.
14:49Okay.
14:50I'm going to show up ultimate heat mode here because this
14:52plays a lot like White Yakuza's Beast mode where you're
14:55just going to automatically pick things up.
14:57And just.
14:59Ah.
15:01Yeah.
15:02Traffic cones.
15:04Whatever's lying around.
15:05Pick one of those up.
15:06That's a good workout.
15:07Oh, my God.
15:08Just the stuff that you can pick up is so great.
15:12All right.
15:13What's next?
15:14Did you just get an iron plate?
15:16You just got an iron plate.
15:17Those are sellable.
15:18Turn those into the pawn shop and make a little cash on the
15:21side.
15:21Gentlemen, please.
15:22So when you next go there, you can just pick up stuff on
15:24the ground and sell them.
15:27Realistic simulator.
15:28Absolutely.
15:30I wanted to show off the selfie app.
15:32Yes.
15:33Yes.
15:33Let's show that off.
15:34But there's a particular place I wanted to do it,
15:36which is inside the Millennium Tower because you can almost
15:38never go in here.
15:40Oh, yes.
15:41Fair enough.
15:43Where is Nishkiyama?
15:45He's somewhere in here.
15:47Is he downstairs?
15:49Scott, you're supposed to be obeying those.
15:53I don't believe you're.
15:54Maybe I'm not supposed to be down here.
15:55Here's the amazing thing.
15:56Oh.
15:56Had I seen that before, I would have assumed that this
16:01area was closed off because that's where your everyday
16:05developer would put a little object there.
16:07That's like where the wall is, right?
16:08That's a wall.
16:09You can't pass that.
16:10This is saying, please pass the wall.
16:12Yeah.
16:12But in this case, Kazuma just moseyed right past that.
16:16Well, it's not his first visit to this tower.
16:18To be fair.
16:20So you find these photos on the ground sometimes.
16:22You're going to find these photos of Yakuza characters
16:25that have been long dead.
16:27And if you take selfies in the right spot,
16:31you can kind of adjust his expression a little bit.
16:35Filters, that kind of thing.
16:36Yeah.
16:37Okay.
16:38So people can share these first off.
16:39But yes.
16:41Can I take a selfie?
16:43Didn't work.
16:44Okay.
16:44Oh, no.
16:44I don't think we got him.
16:46But sometimes the ghosts of those characters in the areas
16:49where you've taken those pictures will appear in the photos.
16:52You can check all your photos here.
16:53Oh, no.
16:54There he is.
16:54Look at that.
16:55Right on the right.
16:55Whoa.
16:57No way.
16:59Spoilers.
17:00Sam, who is another producer on this title,
17:02was telling me that that goes back to sort of the idea that the
17:05camera captures a soul.
17:06Yes.
17:07So there's a cultural context for that.
17:10That's happening.
17:10That's very much a thing for them.
17:14And I think it's little things like that when they're making it,
17:17it's also sort of making it the Japanese cultural experience
17:21when you're playing this game.
17:22Yes.
17:22Sort of.
17:23Did you just use the guy as the wrecking ball just now?
17:26Yes.
17:27Okay.
17:27And again.
17:29Besides just hurling people around by their shoulders when
17:32milling them about.
17:33The combat is so fantastic that you just pile-drived a thug or a
17:41dangerous man or whatever, menacing man, with a bicycle.
17:45Yes.
17:47The slow-mo there is fantastic, by the way.
17:49I love those stylish endings.
17:50Absolutely.
17:52They've gotten to the point with the development of these games
17:54that they kind of know what people want to see.
17:57I didn't get to show off the knife or the sword or the gun,
17:59but equally as brutally entertaining as all of that.
18:04You can bring a sword into the streets of Kamurocho.
18:07These thugs will do that.
18:09I'm afraid that these thugs will do that.
18:10but, man, I'm afraid also.
18:13Oh, is this person okay?
18:14Oh, no.
18:15What happened?
18:15Just had a long night.
18:17Oh, trouble.
18:19Is she sick?
18:19Oh, no.
18:20Can we get her some medicine?
18:21She wants a tar in her.
18:22I don't think I have that lady.
18:23Oh, no.
18:24Okay.
18:24Can we help a sick person, Scott?
18:26We're going to try.
18:27Let's get down to the Popo.
18:29I like how immediately his voice got a sense of urge.
18:31We're going to do this.
18:32We're going to do this, guys.
18:34She's queasy.
18:34We're going to help out.
18:35You have four minutes, 50 seconds, Scott.
18:37I think I can make that happen,
18:38assuming some thugs don't stop me on the way to this Popo.
18:40But in another Yakuza first,
18:42you can just run right past those thugs if you want.
18:45Well, this guy is not going to help me shop.
18:47Oh, that's true.
18:48You have to clear that.
18:50Yes.
18:51Done.
18:52Done.
18:53Now is that a medicine?
18:54Is that an energy drink?
18:55That is an energy drink that would normally restore
18:57someone's heat.
18:58So of course it's going to make them less queasy.
19:00Okay.
19:00Great.
19:01Nothing makes me feel less queasy like a shot of stimulants.
19:05I was going to say, when I'm feeling nauseated, I pound as many energy drinks as possible.
19:11That really settles the stomach.
19:13That's right.
19:14Okay, lady.
19:15Here we go.
19:15You can have this tourner.
19:17Absolutely.
19:17Yes.
19:18We are helping the people of Japan one queasy stomach at a time.
19:23Clear.
19:24Wonderful.
19:25Beautiful.
19:26I think I deserve a meal for that.
19:27Okay. Great.
19:28Let's go to Wild Jackson.
19:29What do you say?
19:29Wild Jackson?
19:30Got to fill up that belly so you can get some of those experience points.
19:33That's right.
19:33Food is worth experience in this one.
19:35So you can kind of run around town and see what, if you're like, oh, I really need some
19:38green XP, then maybe you want to go order this wild avocado burger.
19:42You see on the left side over there, there's a belly where he digests all of his food now.
19:45Okay.
19:45So let's order a wild avocado.
19:47Looks like orange juice is on special.
19:49We'll grab that.
19:50We are recording this episode in California, and so the avocado is perfect.
19:54Yep.
19:54And I have a massive stomach at the moment, so why not?
19:58Orange juice and avocado.
20:00Oh.
20:00The guy is eating two burgers, two fried chickens.
20:04Yep.
20:04Two drinks.
20:05And one oolong tea.
20:07Okay.
20:08Oh, shoot.
20:08I forgot.
20:08I'm on a diet.
20:09I'm going to take a picture and send this to my trainer.
20:12Yeah.
20:12This is absolutely the wrong food.
20:14Wait.
20:14Really?
20:15Yep.
20:16Okay.
20:16Were we not supposed to eat all this?
20:17I was not supposed to eat a wild Jackson, wild fried chicken thing.
20:21This is off diet.
20:22This is absolutely off diet.
20:23Wait.
20:24This affects actually the XP he will now get back.
20:26Are you serious?
20:28I am not kidding.
20:29This game is unreal.
20:31How is this all happening in the video game?
20:34So remember I told you, if you're going to work out and everything.
20:38How do I get out of here?
20:39It's very important for your health and for your regimen that you stick to
20:42what the trainer gives you.
20:43Yeah.
20:44I guess so.
20:45Also, you know, of all the different dangers in Japan,
20:48it's the inside of a two-floor burger shop is the most dangerous.
20:52That's right.
20:53That's what stopped Scott in his tracks.
20:57Gentlemen, we have a couple minutes left.
20:59How do we want to end the show?
21:01I want you to show me the final boss is what I'm saying.
21:03Oh, absolutely.
21:04I'm just kidding.
21:04Don't show me that.
21:05I won't.
21:06Okay.
21:06But do show me something wonderful.
21:08Okay.
21:09For sure.
21:09I think we need to go talk to my trainer here to see how my wild avocado burger did.
21:15Let's see how that meal of yours was.
21:18Oh, he's not going to be happy.
21:20Oh, his face.
21:21Oh, no.
21:22His face.
21:22Look at that face.
21:23That's a face of a man that is not pleased with your results.
21:27With buckwheat noodles.
21:28Oh, you didn't have that.
21:29Sorry.
21:30Sorry, trainer-san.
21:32He was supposed to have what?
21:34Buckwheat noodles?
21:35Yeah.
21:36What are we looking at?
21:38This is his training regimen.
21:40The results.
21:40The results are in.
21:42Whoa.
21:43Man, oh, man.
21:44So all I have to do is eat two hamburgers?
21:47Oh, failed.
21:48But you still got an A at the meal plan.
21:50Hey, we made some gains.
21:52I see.
21:52Yeah.
21:53I would say it was overall gains, but it could have been an S,
21:55but if you stuck to the diet.
21:56If I stuck to the diet plan.
21:57Watch what you eat next time, Kiryu.
21:58Come on.
22:01You guys.
22:02I hope all the health people out there are listening here.
22:05weird.
22:05I can't even describe you the joy that I have from seeing just the
22:10absurdity of everything on this screen.
22:13So outside of this, yes, he's trying to track down the person who hit Haruka with
22:20their car and solving a lot of mystery in Onamichi, but this is really Yakuza.
22:25Yep.
22:26I mean, this is.
22:30Oh.
22:30We've reached into one of his friends from Yakuza 4, Sodachi.
22:35Who are you?
22:36See?
22:36This is how the game does.
22:37It's like, oh, in case you don't remember who I am, here's the primer.
22:41Okay.
22:41Perfect.
22:42Thank you.
22:43Man, where do I get that outfit?
22:45Because that's what I want to wear.
22:49It doesn't look like it's off the rack.
22:51It looks special.
22:51Yeah.
22:52It's special custom made.
22:54So as we wind down, you know, final thoughts.
22:58What can people really look forward to in Yakuza 6, The Song of Life?
23:03Drama, comedy, action.
23:05All of this.
23:06All of this.
23:07Everything you just saw is but a taste.
23:08We didn't even go to the Second City.
23:10Yeah.
23:10We didn't even go to the Second City.
23:11We didn't go look at the Cat Cafe.
23:14We didn't look at Onamichi-kun, right?
23:17Onamichi-kun.
23:18Onamichi-kun.
23:19Yeah.
23:19Who is a mascot for ramen.
23:22For the city of Onamichi.
23:24The city of Onamichi.
23:24The pride of Onamichi.
23:28So anyways.
23:29My text.
23:30My text.
23:31I'll skip it if I want.
23:31I love it.
23:32You're like, you know what?
23:33I got to skip this.
23:35Whatever, man.
23:37Oh, wait.
23:37Now you're going to fight?
23:38I thought you guys were friends.
23:39Oh, no.
23:40I skipped all that.
23:41Okay.
23:43We had to have one final fight before we end it.
23:45There we go.
23:46That was maybe the quickest fight possible.
23:50We did just come back from the gym.
23:51Actually, my real final question is, you know, I'm sure we've
23:55covered a little bit of this in the episode already, but maybe
23:58what's like the biggest new thing in Yakuza 6 that may be long
24:02time fans of the series?
24:04That has to be the Dragon Engine.
24:05Everything that has been done so far has been remade and iterated
24:08on from the PlayStation 2 original that they've kind of taken
24:11that base and built and built and built.
24:13For this game, they scrapped all of that and said,
24:15we're going to build this in a new engine, the Dragon Engine,
24:17and this is kind of the result of that.
24:19This is the first iteration of that engine.
24:21Which is fantastic.
24:22Looking really good.
24:23Everything's coming out amazing.
24:25And it's only going to get better from here.
24:27Scott and Jacob, thank you, gentlemen, both so much for
24:29joining us on PlayStation Underground today.
24:32Yakuza 6, the song of life, it's got drama.
24:34It's got comedy.
24:36It's got cats.
24:37It's got fights.
24:38It's got bicycles.
24:39It's got everything.
24:41That's right.
24:41Is coming to PS4 on April 17th.
24:44Yep.
24:44Sorry, Jacob.
24:44And a very health conscious message.
24:46And a very health conscious message.
