00:07Hello and welcome to the first look at Total War Three Kingdoms.
00:10Today we're going to be playing through a single battle.
00:13It's 199CE and the events of the Three Kingdoms era are well underway.
00:18The tyrant Dong Zhuo is long dead, murdered by his adoptive son Lu Bu.
00:23He's one of the greatest warriors of the period,
00:26who is now threatening to combine his strength with Wanshu and overwhelm all opposition.
00:31However, Lu Bu sits in CRP, isolated from his would-be ally.
00:36The legendary commander Cao Cao senses an opportunity to strike Lu Bu down
00:40before his strength becomes too great.
00:43After months of long siege warfare and with the defenders starved of resources,
00:48Cao Cao now senses that time is right.
00:50Here, behind the walls of CRP, Lu Bu stands in the centre,
00:55preparing to fight against the approaching march of Cao Cao.
00:58Here we are on the battlefield. The final assault is about to begin.
01:02We have Cao Cao, the legendary commander, leading his men into battle.
01:07We're going for a two-pronged approach. Cao Cao shall lead his forces through the breach,
01:11while Yi Jin will march his forces to the gatehouse and smash through and take the main concourse.
01:17But before we move forwards, we need to lay the groundwork for our assault.
01:21We're going to raise their walls to the ground.
01:26With that underway, we're going to move our heavy spearguard up towards the front gate for the attack on the
01:30wall.
01:32Let's take a look at these heavy spearguard.
01:34They're currently in the turtle formation, using their tall shields together,
01:38with the flag bearers in the centre to protect from missile fire, which will greatly aid us in this assault.
01:44Lu Bu is holding his position in the centre of CRP, waiting for someone worthy enough to fight.
01:50In Three Kingdoms, there are unique items which can be given to your generals.
01:54Here we see Lu Bu's horse and weapon are unique to him.
01:57But should he be slain, you could loot his items and keep them for yourself.
02:02Here we have one of our generals under Cao Cao.
02:05Different generals can recruit different kinds of units.
02:08These two are leading their forces together.
02:10Yi Xin is a guardian type hero, our combat master who excels in the heart of battle, tanking and soaking
02:17up damage.
02:18While our strategist is not great in a fight, he is incredibly useful for debuffing enemy units
02:23and allows us access to unique formation types.
02:27The gap on the left is now wide enough for us to make our great assault on the settlement.
02:31Cao Cao and his retinue are going to move up.
02:33Cao Cao himself is a commander, and they excel at buffing up nearby allied troops rather than wading into combat
02:40themselves.
02:41So we won't be seeing him being the first to the breach. He's too valuable for that.
02:46We will instead be pushing up the Yellow Dragons. They are being supported by the Azure Dragons,
02:52a hybrid heavy spear and missile infantry unit.
02:55They will first hold back and fire over the walls with their bows,
02:58and once they've spent all their ammunition, they will join in on the front line.
03:04Let's move our heavy spears forward to climb the walls.
03:11Now is the time to press the attack.
03:13Getting the Azure Dragons firing, and now charging forwards with the Yellow Dragons.
03:17Is there a heart beating in that spineless body? Is there a brain inside that cavernous head?
03:26These heavy hitting axe units are a formidable foe for anyone they go up against.
03:30They will make very short work with these spears.
03:43Let's check up on the center attack. The settlement is now on fire from the barrage of arrows,
03:48and our men are getting over the walls, and getting stuck into the enemy.
03:58Yes! Back them!
04:05Cousin! We come to aid you! We ride with fury at our back!
04:10Our reinforcements have arrived. This huge mass of cavalry will be the perfect thing to break Lubu's men.
04:17We'll charge them into this spear infantry.
04:19They're going to knock these guys flying and destroy them around.
04:23Our reinforcements are led by Zhihau Dun.
04:26He was shot in the eye by an arrow in battle against Lubu.
04:30He pulled it out, his eye still attached to the arrow, and proceeded to eat it.
04:35And we're going to get him out of the fight and head over to Lubu, who we're going to challenge
04:39to a duel.
04:40Duels are a new feature for Three Kingdoms, where the two heroes will duke it out in single combat until
04:46one either dies or retreats.
04:48Duels can help you single out an enemy combatant, and take them out and turn the tide of battle.
