00:00We need de-escalation now. That's the message from Qatar as the U.S. and Israel's war on Iran
00:05enters its third week. Speaking to reporters on Monday, the advisor to Qatar's prime minister
00:11says he's not aware of any mediation efforts to end the current conflict. He also says Iran
00:16must stop attacking its neighbors and rejects Tehran's claim that it is not targeting civilian
00:22infrastructure across the Gulf. Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Dr. Majid Al-Ansari
00:27says Iranian attacks on Qatar have included cruise and ballistic missiles, drones, and
00:33even fighter jets. He says five different types of drones were used on Sunday alone.
00:38Iran is attacking our countries in an unprovoked way. These attacks are harming civilians.
00:43These attacks are killing people in neighboring countries. And there is no need for coordination.
00:50The only need here is for Iran to stop attacking the countries that are not attacking them,
00:54to stop attacking the countries of the Gulf, stop attacking the countries in the Arab world.
00:57Iran says it is only targeting U.S. interests in the Gulf. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas
01:02Aragchi has also proposed forming a committee to investigate who is responsible for attacks
01:08on civilian areas. But Al-Ansari says the reality on the ground tells a different story.
01:13Let me make it very clear. Since the Iranian attacks have started on Qatar, the threats and
01:19the attacks on civilian targets have not stopped. Including last Saturday when a missile with the
01:28trajectory towards the residential area was intercepted. In response to a question from
01:32Euronews, Al-Ansari says Qatar has also received strong support from European partners during the
01:38crisis. We're hugely appreciative, of course, of the European support in general throughout this
01:43crisis. As you have mentioned, you know, with the joint squadron with the United Kingdom,
01:47with the help coming in from France, from Italy, from other partners in Germany, other partners
01:51in Europe, we are working very closely with them. What is taking place right now in this European
01:57position is laying the ground for an important increase in our defense and security partnerships
02:07with Europe. And these are the times when you know your partners and your friends as assets.
02:15And this is what we have seen when it comes to Europe. Qatar says diplomacy remains the only
02:19path to ending the conflict. But with attacks continuing across the region, officials say de-escalation
02:25has to happen first. Adil Halim, Euronews, Doha.
