Evan says Soto was a bit of a "crybaby" with his postgame comments after being bounced from the WBC.
Transcript
00:00And I'm pretty sure he was being serious when he said this.
00:02We got a little crybaby effort out of Juan Soto.
00:05A little crybaby.
00:06Did you hear what Juan said?
00:08I did not after his offer.
00:10We showed the world who's the best team in baseball.
00:13That's all I got to say.
00:15Did you?
00:17Really?
00:17How about let's swing the bat when pitches are close?
00:19Right.
00:21That's what I thought.
00:22It was a ball, dude.
00:23Of course it was a ball.
00:24It was a ball, but it wasn't a ball enough that you absolutely lay off.
00:28If you want to get on Juan Soto, here's where you get on him.
00:31He bounced into a huge double play in the fifth inning
00:34against the soft-tossing Tyler Rodgers.
00:36Right.
00:37That's a criticism.
00:38He did not come through in a big moment.
00:40But to get on him for spitting on a pitch that was a ball?
00:43Come on now.
00:43We are taught at the earliest age of baseball, one of the most basic things,
00:47if it's close enough, two strikes, protect yourself and swing.
00:50I'm sorry.
00:51No excuse.
00:52I'm not hearing it about bad calls.
00:53But he's got an elite eye, so he could just watch that one
00:56because he knew it was going to be a ball.
00:57And you also watched Juan Soto for an entire year as a Yankee.
01:00That's what he does.
01:01He's not going to extend.
01:02Don't want to cry about it then when it goes your other way.
01:04He didn't cry about the call.
01:06Okay?
01:06The quote was, we showed the world who's the best team in baseball.
01:10That's all I got to say.
01:11That is crying about the calls.
01:12Because what are you saying?
01:13You're saying you should have won the game.
01:14Why didn't you win the game?
01:15Is that how you take that?
01:16Of course.
01:16What else would he be talking about?
01:18Yeah, I take it as we're better than them even though they beat us.
01:21Better than them?
01:21That's how I take it.
01:22Better than the United States.
01:22I think his comment was, we are still the best team in the world despite losing the
01:27game 2-1.
01:28Look, and you can argue that because this isn't how baseball is supposed to be adjudicated.
01:33Meaning, how do you find the best team in a one-game series?
01:36That's not how baseball is.
01:37I heard this on your Rico, and you're so right.
01:39It's hard to judge this and judge teams based on one game out of, you usually get a series.
01:46Even if it's a three-game series, you'd be better off.
01:49But there's no way they can fit it, so they have to do these one-offs.
01:52Basically, the old school wild card, which doesn't make any sense.
01:55But let me argue with Juan Soto, who is a member of the New York Mets, and he's my guy,
01:58and I can't wait to see him in bed camp again.
02:01Paul Skeens was on a restrictive pitch count.
02:03He threw 71 pitches.
02:05If this was real, or real-er, and we're trying to prove the best team in the world,
02:11Paul Skeens is throwing 105 pitches.
02:13It's different.
02:14And so, I think Juan Soto showed you with that line how emotional this game was,
02:20how much he wanted to win, which I absolutely respect.
02:23And in answering it, he came off like a baby.
02:26You didn't prove you're the best team in the world.
