00:00Chinese Grand Prix, lights out and away we go, much better start from Kimi Antonelli, Lewis Hamilton's coming right at
00:07him, and he's already past George Russell, we could get two into the first corner, side by side, Hamilton ahead
00:13of Charles Leclerc, Antonelli on the inside will try and hang this out, George Russell down in fourth, Gasly with
00:19Hadjar on the inside of the soft tyres, over the curve, goes Charles Leclerc, that could give George Russell, and
00:25Kimi Antonelli a bit of impetus to get going, and Antonelli manages to hold on to second,
00:30place, with the Alpina ahead of them, of Pierre Gasly, then George Russell, that was a late move to the
00:36left hand side, from Oli Behrman, they're going wheel to wheel, Hadjar's been squeezed out, Behrman's off the track, Hadjar
00:41says, oh, might have a little moment here, on the inside to get past the Haas, and he does it,
00:46oh, and then he spins, and then he sends Oli Behrman wide onto the runoff area, whoa, what a skirmish
00:54on this opening lap, and there's already a gap opening to Pierre Gasly, in fifth, there goes Kimi Antonelli,
00:59past Lewis Hamilton, down towards the hairpin, under braking, and can Hamilton fight back, not on this occasion, Antonelli has,
01:07and he now leads, on lap three, half a second gap, over Hamilton, there's George Russell, behind Charles Leclerc, there's
01:14George Russell ahead of Charles Leclerc.
01:16He stands at the moment, and they've gone through that detection point, but watch for George, here comes George Russell,
01:22what a boost, down the first part of the straight, from George Russell, he pressed the magic button there, and
01:29the car said, let's go, George Russell up into second place, it's start first, and Kimi Antonelli doing what his
01:35teammate did yesterday, pointing to the right, to try and cover off the fast starting Ferraris, so they said, let's
01:40go around the outside.
01:41Yeah, Lewis went to look to the, go to the middle of the two Mercedes, and then thought, okay, I'll
01:46just drive around the outside of you as well then, and he made that work, but Leclerc right around the
01:51outside, look, of Russell tried to put himself, of Antonelli, tried to put himself on the inside,
01:55and, but Antonelli just about had enough momentum to hang on to it.
02:00Just at the bottom of your screen, you might have seen Sergio Perez trying to find a gap that wasn't
02:05there, hence the contact with Valtteri Bottas.
02:09Leclerc got a good start as well, but he's got his teammate right in front of him, so he couldn't
02:13carry any extra speed in towards turn one,
02:16and that's why he had to eventually play second best to Antonelli, oh, that was tight, wasn't it, over the
02:24caravan, the rear just snapping as well,
02:26for good measure, as he tries to put his foot down. Let's see what it looked like on board with
02:29Max Verstappen.
02:31Yeah, not a great getaway, once again, cars overtaking him on the left and the right.
02:36How frustrating must that be? Once again, for Max Verstappen to see cars just appearing from either side and shooting
02:45past him.
02:46This is the gap that wasn't there for Sergio Perez.
02:49Oh, dear.
02:50As he spun his teammate round, I think, and himself in the process.
02:54Coincidence that both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris should have issues such as that.
03:00A coincidence? Yeah, just what can you say? And they're both out.
03:03Thanks, Ted. Lance Stroll could be out of this race. He might have kept the engine running. He's come to
03:10a halt.
03:11Make changes and improvements.
03:14Isaac Hajar's second pit stop in this race, and the front left didn't really want to come off, so he
03:20pitted at the end of lap one.
03:23Steve is Anthony here.
03:25So who are you really racing?
03:27Hamilton behind George Russell and Arvid Lindblad still keeping Charles Leclerc at bay.
03:32Colopinto manages to stay ahead of Ocon, but Hamilton goes through on George Russell, who is a bit compromised there
03:38by the Haas in his attempts to get past the Alpine.
03:41Charles Leclerc trying to go round the outside of Franco Colopinto, who got picked off by Lewis Hamilton down at
03:48turn eight when Hamilton did the same with George Russell in the sprint yesterday.
03:51Out of the corner. Charles Leclerc has got much, much better grip, and he puts that to good use, and
03:58he's up in two-third.
03:59Four-all did that.
04:00Need more power, mate.
04:02We own it.
04:03And then you've got Gasly still ahead of Max Verstappen. Ocon's going to fight this, though, down towards turn one.
04:10They're almost wheel to wheel. They're almost touching as Ocon swoops to the right-hand side and almost collects Pierre
04:16Gasly.
04:17Verstappen on the inside now with Pierre Gasly, pushing them out wide, makes his move through and up into eighth
04:23place.
04:23Yeah, it's a proper hard, vintage Max Verstappen move there.
04:28They need to look further into knowing exactly what it is, why it's happened, and then the next step we'll
04:34be trying to figure out how to fix it.
04:35Thank you. Thank you.
04:37Such disappointment for Lando Norris. Lewis Hamilton has just been passed by Charles Leclerc. George Russell, France is getting in
04:44on the act as well.
04:45We were to be the faster Ferrari, but Hamilton is now going to fight this one back again, Ant.
04:50Yeah, I thought that these two were going to really fight it hard, and look at that. Almost. Contact was
04:55contact, I think, momentarily there in turn two.
04:58And they got close on this very piece of tarmac yesterday, and Leclerc complained about that at the time. This
05:04gives Russell a chance now. Down towards turn six, Crofty.
05:07And Lewis Hamilton has the inside line, which might just save him for the moment. Runs George Russell as wide
05:13as he possibly can.
05:14This time on the run down towards turn 14.
05:16Leclerc under pressure. Lewis Hamilton back up in the second place. For the time being, Lewis Hamilton is the lead
05:23Ferrari.
05:24George Russell is just hanging back once again, maybe cooling his tyres a touch after running so close.
05:30Has Charles Leclerc, though, now got the energy deployment at his disposal to get past Lewis Hamilton, who's going to
05:36force him the long way around the outside?
05:38Charles Leclerc says, thank you. I'll take that. No problems. And he'll move up into second place again.
05:44Hamilton towards turn six, and this isn't over yet.
05:47And he's not over because at turn seven, he's almost alongside Charles Leclerc.
05:51This is where Lewis Hamilton got past George Russell yesterday.
05:55This could be where Lewis Hamilton gets past Charles Leclerc today. It is. History repeats itself.
06:00But on the exit, Charles Leclerc has got that battery boost to get back ahead.
06:06Just being so plucky and just, yeah, overly aggressive.
06:10Here comes Russell now. I think Hamilton has used all of his battery this time, and Russell is massively on
06:15the attack.
06:16And the crowd absolutely loving that, giving George Russell a standing ovation as he manages to get past Lewis Hamilton
06:22and up into third place.
06:25A bit of argy-bargy with, right, what's happened here then?
06:28There's a tear-off on his visor. Doesn't seem to be under pressure from anyone else.
06:33He's just having trouble getting the car stopped.
06:35Oh, dear.
06:38They're just passing all the right places.
06:42He's able to make sure that he's not suffering any green and can reach the end of the race.
06:48Quick one, Crofty.
06:49Two seconds, Bernie.
06:50George Russell fancies second place in this race.
06:53Charles Leclerc might be powerless on this occasion to stop him, and it looks like he is.
06:57It's Mercedes back one and two.
07:00So he's just pitted the course.
07:01He just comes out of the pits.
07:03Here's Esteban Ocon coming at him in the turn one at a rate of knots.
07:09Colopinto just goes a bit wide on colder tyres.
07:11Now tries to close off the gap.
07:13Didn't see him.
07:13He didn't see him.
07:14Didn't see him coming.
07:16Oh, dear.
07:17That's going to ruin his race, going to ruin Ocon's race.
07:20And talking of races being ruined, Fernando Alonso's coming in to retire as we watch this replay again.
07:25I could see what Ocon was trying to do.
07:26No, it was a bit too late.
07:28It was a bit too late.
07:29I have no power.
07:33Give me something.
07:35Except they'll be usable.
07:37I come out of the last corner, I've got no power.
07:39Negative.
07:40We are looking into that.
07:43Who's gone even wider this time around.
07:45And whilst he might have power issues, Lewis Hamilton, his teammate has just handed third place back to him.
07:51But if he does lack power, Hamilton, on the exit of this corner, this is the one he talked about.
07:55Does that give Leclerc the opportunity to have another go around the outside, potentially into turn one?
08:01He's thinking about it.
08:02He's going to try it.
08:03Well, he is going to try it.
08:04The crowd roaring the two Ferraris around here.
08:07They're almost side by side.
08:09Hamilton, with that inside line, manages to keep ahead.
08:12You called it, Ant.
08:15Charles Leclerc looks like he's delivered it, Anthony Davidson, into the hairpin.
08:19Charles Leclerc goes past Lewis Hamilton, who I think saw it coming, and is now trying to fight his way
08:24back.
08:25And he's just going to lose out going into the final corner.
08:28Charles Leclerc back up into third place.
08:31What's Hamilton going to do in towards turn one?
08:33He's naturally going to be faster.
08:34Look how he's gaining, but not quite gaining enough.
08:37But as the corner then evolves, Hamilton can continue his momentum, and he's got Charles Leclerc back.
08:46I'm glad.
08:47Oh, well done, Charles.
08:49Oh, is Max Verstappen going a lot slower than you would expect?
08:52It looks like he is.
08:54Oh, no.
08:55Oh, for Max Verstappen, it's going to be a retirement.
08:58His first ever retirement here in Shanghai.
09:02Now, can he, though, get the car home?
09:05He's got power.
09:06That's what happened here then.
09:07There's no traffic around him.
09:08We've already seen a massive lock-up from Leclerc, as we know things are getting tricky yet.
09:12And it's as easy as that.
09:14The crowd you can hear in the background.
09:15Jimmy Antonelli, for the first time in Formula One, wins the Grand Prix in his victory in Shanghai
09:23for the young man who, at the age of 19 and 200 days, 202 days, is on top of the
09:32world right here.
09:34And Toto Wolff celebrating with his dad in the garage.
09:37George Russell comes home.
09:38It's a Mercedes 1-2.
09:40And stands for Lewis Hamilton, who will stand on the podium as a Ferrari driver for the first time.
09:48Yes, Kimmy.
09:50Come on, my son.
09:52Yes!
09:53Yes, man!
09:55We did it!
09:56We did it!
09:56We did it, man!
09:58Well done there, mate.
10:00First race win.
10:01This is one you're going to remember forever, man.
10:04We're still racing.
10:05Well done, Lewis.
10:06Solid race.
10:07Clare as mad as we wanted.
10:10Fantastic job.
10:12Fantastic job, guys.
10:13Really well done.
10:14Really good for the hard work.
10:15We've got to keep up, keep pushing.
10:18Back at Marinello, we've got work to do, but I believe in you.
10:21Let's keep pushing.
10:22For the Ferrari.
