00:00Barney, we're here at the soon-to-be-redeveloped Queen's Wharf site.
00:03How would you like to see it redeveloped?
00:05I would like to see it redeveloped as a holistic project
00:08incorporating the whole of the site
00:10and even little parcels of land over the two car parks at Beach End.
00:15I would like to see it really respect the access from the cathedral to the harbour.
00:20I would also like it to respect the original people of the land,
00:26saltwater people called the Awabakal people.
00:28I think we've got a great opportunity for something that really addresses
00:34their ownership or their occupation of the land for 60,000 years
00:39together with the heritage of the harbour.
00:43So Europeans come and from that point on,
00:46coal and things have been taken out of this river and out of this harbour.
00:51And I think there's a huge opportunity for the people of Newcastle
00:54to have something to really make a statement.
00:56I don't mean a statement just on local terms, I mean on international terms.
01:02We have cruise ships coming in, coal ships come in and out all of the time as well
01:08and we'll continue to do that for a long time.
01:10We have a great harbour, we have great beaches.
01:13So I can't see why we can't do that.
01:15And think outside the square.
01:17Don't think small things, small money.
01:19I think we've got to really think about big investment and that may come from developers,
01:25but let them say what they think they can do.
01:29And I think that way the people of Newcastle will gain something that is really a big impression,
01:36but also a really good thing for the longevity of the heritage in Newcastle.
01:41Is this a really good thing?
01:42Let me, let's continue to do this.
01:45Do a really good thing for the future,
01:45and it's a really good thing for the future.
01:45So, let's go.
