The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for upcoming assembly elections in 5 states - Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. Voting will take place in multiple phases, with Assam, Puducherry, and Kerala going to polls on April 6th, while Tamil Nadu and West Bengal will have elections in multiple phases starting from April 6th. A total of 824 assembly constituencies across these states will go to polls, with over 18 crore voters eligible to cast their votes. The EC has made necessary preparations for conducting free and fair elections amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
