00:01thank you very much lucius appreciate you playing that as always um
00:08you guys surprised when you woke up this morning that they actually had made a couple of moves
00:11or made a move i was surprised when i got home from dudley's last night
00:15who saw the report i was like okay i went to the phone so this thing was like around 11
00:20o'clock or
00:21so uh i mean i didn't see it i probably saw it at like i was 11 30 midnight something
00:26like that
00:27yeah yeah it was a late one for sure i was surprised i think it was uh nick harris and
00:32todd archer that were up into the wee hours break i think michauda was in that mix michauda absolutely
00:38he's always so he doesn't sleep right i don't think he's kind of nocturnal that he's a night out
00:42was duke on late last night was duke playing i think they're late again tonight right but they
00:46might be late tonight yeah i think we were watching some of duke yesterday i wasn't as surprised that
00:51they did something as they they were able to find quality that's where i think that's kind of where
00:56i'm looking at it right now and i'm like all right so a little bit of like again i'm watching
01:03the tape i'm looking at these players so i'm thinking well why what's wrong with kobe durant
01:10you know the first thing it i hate this because mickey does it you know why is he not good
01:16enough
01:17for you know why are they not signing him back why you know and you're like i don't want to
01:20be that
01:20guy but you wonder well they got a lot going on the rams they made a lot of deals yeah
01:28i just don't
01:29know why somebody else in the league didn't like step up here he was very under the radar i mean
01:33that was a player that we didn't even really register i mean that i mean shame on us really
01:37for not paying more attention on possibly kobe durant but yeah he was uh that's an underrated
01:42really good signing and kudos to the cowboys pro personnel department yeah he's a scheme fit as well
01:47i think they found a good one there and you feel much better now about a contingency plan
01:51with the health of like revel and bland than you did yesterday yeah absolutely yeah he's either
01:55really solid depth or he could start for you it's the biggest inefficiency in the nfl though is these
02:01guys that aren't household names can't make an impact with you with season ticket sales aren't
02:05going to create tv ratings but they're they're good players the teams go out and throw all their money
02:10at the impact guys and then they're like well i guess we got to fill the rest of our spots
02:14with budget signing so if you can allocate five to eight to twelve million bucks i think there's
02:19some really good production per dollar spent here in this range it is i had somebody on twitter
02:25there were some comments that were made and all that it's like oh look cowboys going out and getting
02:31actually players that can play you know i mean they're they're like you know that's they're not
02:37getting a ha ha clinton dicks no it's like no they're actually get a guy that you know if you
02:41watch
02:42you know kobe durant play you get a real appreciation of his game and how he how he is able
02:50to at 511 181
02:52pounds play as a really good starting quarterback and play and what i was talking about was playing the
02:59field no he's he's playing a lot of space i mean he's the they're running routes to his side
03:08where the receiver has more than a one-way go you're playing in a boundary corner you can you can
03:14squeeze those receivers into that sideline and keep the routes from materializing on you this guy plays
03:21well in the zone he plays well in man he gets his hands on footballs and the reason he gets
03:28his hands
03:28on the football is because he's in position to do so he is a he is a difficult guy he
03:34is a very
03:35very flexible player when it comes to his movement skill his feet and the way that he's able to
03:42pedal and turn and break all in one motion it's not there's no the smoothness that's tough there's so
03:49much smoothness to his game yeah it and i i didn't see him play personally it i didn't see him
03:56playing nickel so if we're if you're thinking well brought us what where where's he gonna play well i think
04:02he's outside and honestly they needed another outside corner because ready stewart's an inside
04:07player and i don't know how they got to be better ready stewart right they got to go get carroll
04:12or
04:12somebody like that right yeah i i would think so and and you'll have some options uh joseph hoyt
04:17has a mock draft i'm going to throw out next and they go ahead and get one of those guys
04:20just a
04:21little preview for that but i'm with you i think you need to get a true player that you feel
04:24confident
04:25can slide inside yeah i don't know that that's necessarily a rant okay i think you got the outside
04:29guy i think you really do i think you got the outside guy whoever the next guy is he needs
04:35to
04:35be able to go inside and play that makes you not i'm not delaying at 12 because i don't do
04:42you think
04:42he could kick in and do that i mean he's an outside corner we saw at lsu does he have
04:46that versatility
04:46in your opinion you know what's funny about delaying he's not going to test great no but that's not
04:53that's why i thought the patrick thing his numbers are going to come back here and go
04:57we really want a five three corner playing out there for us point out the bad plays when you
05:02watch him yeah like where what plays has he given up what nobody's throwing at him why because they're
05:07scared because nobody's open i there's a guy at iowa iowa defensive lineman i watched lewellyn
05:14have you seen him no this this guy lewellyn like an edge terrible testing numbers
05:21but again makes plays makes plays yeah makes a ton of plays you know the iowa kids but anyway
05:26i didn't mean to digress that way lewellyn lewellyn but to me this i think you're gonna have to i
05:34i
05:34don't know i don't think bland wants to go inside i just we know he doesn't want to i don't
05:41if he
05:41doesn't want to i don't think you put him in there but is is are we looking for are we
05:46talking about a
05:46nickel corner are we talking about a hybrid nickel safety kind of player like are you even looking at
05:52a true corner in this scenario or are we looking at something a little bit more i think you're
05:56looking at a nickel corner you are yeah i think you are i think you are too if you find
06:01one of those
06:01safeties you know if caleb down slides to you at 12 but i think you've got a guy that can
06:06do that
06:06in toms and he played 250 snaps in the end slot last year so i think you've got that guy
06:11if the draft
06:13board slides to you and and maybe thenaman's there at 20 god willing or downs is there at 12
06:18and you decide that's where i want to go or bud clark's there from tcu at 92 a guy that
06:22has that
06:23versatility it's an option i agree but i think you need that true nickel cornerback to actually do it
06:28i think that's what they did with the gene in philadelphia i think the way that they address the
06:31the safety spot i i'd love to have one of the guys as mentioned i was mentioning like wheatley
06:37talking about wheatley from penn state another one i'd love to have a guy like that i mean the kilgore
06:42guy
06:42when you end up watching him from the gamecock absolutely sure need to watch him for sure all
06:47right i really do like what kobe durant brings to your dallas cowboys super happy about that one
06:52all right the matt hennessey one here's a guy that's kind of a backup offensive lineman that had to make
07:00some starts i watched him i watched him in a couple of games uh uh this past season and i
07:07watched him
07:08against the falcons and i watched him against the houston texans games he had to make some starts in
07:14he is a little bit better version into what you got rid of hoffman yeah hoffman a little bit better
07:21version and i say that because there's there's limitations with this guy i think he's a straight
07:28leg player i think there's times where he gets walked back okay into into the pocket um he's he's
07:37kind of one of those guys that can stay in front of his guy and he can get to the
07:42second level but
07:44you could pull this guy out of his stance like when you when you're when he's blocking you could snatch
07:50him and pull him and he's going to kind of stumble forward or you're going to like if you get
07:56your
07:56hands on him before he gets his hands on you and you want to pull him and to get around
08:01him i think
08:02you could do that with this guy but i think you could do with hop hoppin to me played with
08:06bad
08:07balance at times yeah i think that's totally fair so this guy's very similar in that regard but i
08:14don't think his balance is as bad as what hoppin's was in my opinion so i think this is a
08:21guy it's kind
08:21of a shield blocker when i say shield it's like snap and then he's just gets in the way okay
08:28he's
08:29not going to go out and it's like hammer he's not going to take this snap and step he's kind
08:34of a
08:34snap step and position and then play with your hands and try and kind of ride you wherever you want
08:40to go he's not a people mover no not at all but we're not going to you know move our
08:44feet and try and
08:45knock somebody off the ball wide zone kind of stuff right it's what he was a part of yeah well
08:49what he could do is his his footwork is good enough to where he can get out in space that
08:56way
08:56but he's so upright the way he plays i think that's why he has a problem when people walk him
09:02back into
09:03the quarterback because he's so straight-legged so that's something you got to kind of keep an eye on
09:08i think he could get overextended and i mean overextended not kick too far outside and oh he's in
09:16trouble and he can't get back i think he's got i think he's got that ability to like to get
09:21to where
09:22he needs but then when he starts to block you can see him get over the top of his feet
09:27and that's
09:28that's when you see guys pull him out of his stance you know it's not like a like this knee
09:33bender a guy
09:34that sits down on people a lot of problems if he can't do that yeah but he gets a little
09:39overextended
09:40the thing that i kind of liked about him too was his awareness on the twist stunts and things like
09:45that like when there was when there was something happening where it was an overload to one side
09:50playing center you could see him help to that side and then maybe the twist was coming back the other
09:56way the looper was coming back to him he never like buried himself into into the into the down guy
10:05he
10:05was always kind of like he was helping but aware aware that the guy so it wasn't sometimes you see
10:12these guys and it happened to bb remember him and booker were having so much problems with the twist
10:17stunts yeah what was bb doing he was burying his head into the side of the defensive and into the
10:24into
10:24the tackle and then here comes the looper and he can't get back right outside this guy has the ability
10:31to do that he's he's going to check he's going to hold and then when he sees he knows that
10:36looper's
10:36coming he's going to be right there and be in position to do it so really good awareness guy is
10:43a backup guy and but he's very very similar to what you had with hoffman uh but does he like
10:51to fight as
10:51much he he's one of those guys he looks pretty even keel to me i didn't see any extracurricular
10:57through the echo of the whistle guy he just seemed to kind of do his job and then
11:03walk back to the huddle and so a smart disciplined that's really what we're doing away guy that's
11:09what we're talking about right now yes sir thank you brian thank you
