Smoke: intervista a Taron Egerton
Trascrizione
00:05Hello Taron, I'm Andrea from Italy from Movieplayer.it, compliments on the show, compliments for
00:10your terrific performance. So I really loved it. Thank you. My very first question is, you also
00:17serve as an executive producer on Smoke. So how did this dual role influence your work? I mean,
00:23is it difficult to be both the lead of a TV show like this and also have to have this
00:29double duty,
00:30this double responsibility? No, not really. And I guess, you know, I think
00:37when you're in that role, it's not kind of something that I feel I want to
00:45advertise or change the way that I would conduct myself on a set, for example. You know, I think
00:52it's, for example, if you're in a, if you're behaving in a produce, like a kind of producer
00:59on set with other actors, then it puts you, it somehow feels like you're shifting the status
01:05in a way that I don't think is healthy. Um, so really, I think it's more of a reflection of
01:13of having, um, I suppose, some creative involvement off offset and maybe, you know,
01:21being in a, in a conversation and a dialogue with the other producers about certain directions.
01:27Of course, I think this piece is very, very, very, um, altered by Dennis Lehane and ultimately
01:34he makes the creative decisions. But, uh, there's certainly conversations that we have around,
01:40um, I suppose, you know, people that end up being involved or certain directions with character.
01:48And, um, I suppose my EP credit is a reflection of, of that more than,
01:54more than anything that, um, is who I am on, on set.
01:59So, because of one of your co-stars, Anna Klansky, I was deeply traumatized at 11 by
02:04Michele Kalkin's death in My Girl. So, I was wondering, what's the biggest emotional trauma
02:10you've ever experienced watching a TV show or, or a movie?
02:15Oh, wow. I mean, you know, honestly, really, I think there's been several over, uh, you know,
02:24the course of my life. Um, but when Bambi's mum died, you know, that, as a kid, that, that,
02:34that really didn't mess me up. Um, that would have been a really early one. And then I do think
02:39about
02:40when, you know, when, um, Mufasa fell to his death in Lion King as an older person, as an, as
02:47an adult,
02:47I, I'm, I actually, I'm not so sure. I don't know. Um, I don't know. You know, there's things like,
02:56the thing that springs to mind, you know, there's a moment where, uh, um, when, when Jesse Pinkman
03:04shoots, uh, uh, Gus, uh, is it, is the character Gus, Gus Fring? Is that right? Or is Gus the
03:13Poyos
03:13Manos guy? You know, the, uh, the science guy, the, the replacement cook, a really lovely actor
03:19with the curly hair, the moment where Jesse, you know, Aaron Paul's amazing in that moment. And
03:24you can tell he's kind of fragmenting his own, his, his own spirit doing this thing. Um, uh, yeah,
03:32that's the, that's the thing that springs to mind. I'm not sure that would be the absolute thing,
03:36but that's the thing that springs to mind.
03:37Yeah. So watching your performances in, in smoke, um, I thought about, uh, years ago,
03:43at the Kingsman, the golden circle jacket, I asked you about being the, the new Wolverine,
03:48but we were talking, we are talking about 2017, uh, right after you say years later that you felt
03:55too old for superhero movies, but watching smoke, uh, I think that in fact, you could also be a great
04:02villain in a comic book, uh, movie. Oh, you think? Would you, yeah. Would you be up for it?
04:07Uh, yeah, I guess. Yeah. I think I would. I, I enjoy those movies, you know, I really do. And
04:15I,
04:15I, I, some of those, um, some of the Marvel films are superb, you know? Um, and I, yeah,
04:24I'm open to anything. I feel like every job is my last one. So, you know, I, I, my, I,
04:30my thing is
04:30I'm constantly battling, um, as some sort of imposter syndrome. Like I, I would, I would
04:36absolutely entertain the idea of doing one of those films. I think, you know, the thing that can be
04:41tricky about them, it seems to me is they're, they're big multi-film commitments and that is
04:46less appealing to me, but the idea of doing a turn in, in something, it'd be great fun. Yeah.
04:53Thank you very much. Kudos once again. And we're also waiting for Kingsman 3,
04:57by the way. Yeah, me too. Bye-bye. Cheers, mate. Bye-bye. Nice to see you.
