00:13So the Department of Transportation and Philippine Ports Authority are preparing for the surge of passengers beginning with port terminals.

00:32inspected the Batangas Port Passenger Terminal as part of the preparations for the expected surge of travelers during the upcoming
00:38Holy Week.
00:39This is to ensure that port facilities are ready, including waiting areas, ticket counters, and security systems to accommodate passengers
00:46more efficiently and safely.
00:48According to Secretary Lopez, early preparations is crucial to prevent inconveniences and to ensure safe and smooth travel.

01:12During the inspection, strict monitoring of ferry fares charged by shipping companies were also discussed.
01:18The DOT are reminded that under a Maritime Industry Authority advisory, shipping companies may implement fare increases,
01:24but only up to 20% of the base fare, unless separate approval is granted by marina.
01:29Lopez also expressed gratitude that not all shipping lines increase their fares.
01:33Lopez also said that discussions on fuel subsidies are still being finalized, as global oil prices have not yet reached
01:40$80 per barrel.
01:41Meanwhile, the PPA expects even more passengers to pass through ports as Holy Week approaches.
