00:00I still had a therapist, but I have to say...
00:03You're not that good at front.
00:05But I have to say, having friends...
00:07Was that me that said that?
00:08No, and feeling good friends is a wonder movie.
00:11Bounce it back, bounce it back.
00:18Facciamo un piccolo inventario.
00:20Tu e Tali.
00:23Va a gonfio dele.
00:25Gli affari?
00:25In espansione.
00:27Tony.
00:31Niente male.
00:32This show was in development for years,
00:35with both of you as producers.
00:38In this, if this comeback had to happen,
00:41it had to be with the both of you.
00:44There is no Tony without Ziva,
00:45and there is no Ziva without Tony.
00:47I certainly felt that way.
00:51Yes, and I can illuminate briefly.
00:57Please illuminate me.
00:58So, I was on NCIS for two years before Ms. DiPablo arrived and was forming this character.
01:14But it was once Cody arrived on the show that things really snapped into place.
01:24For the writing, for the whole concept of the show,
01:30Lauren Holley came on the show.
01:32So, everything elementally shifted.
01:36And I suddenly had this confidence about what I was doing,
01:43and I was able to, working with Sasha Alexander,
01:47I was building my way through.
01:51And she's so wonderful, and I had an amazing time with her.
01:54But when she was leaving the show, I was thinking,
01:56Oh my God.
01:57Like, without Kate, what's it going to be like?
01:59But Cody came in, and I felt a very strong connection.
02:04And then when Cody left, for the two years that I was there afterwards,
02:08I was like, gosh, I don't know.
02:12You know, two or three years.
02:14Whatever was left, I just kind of kept thinking,
02:18Maybe it'll come back.
02:19Maybe the...
02:19And Emily Wickersham was there at Cody's desk,
02:23and I was, I thought, she's wonderful and amazing,
02:27but I think I have to go.
02:31And so I left the show, and they did a beautiful favor
02:34by writing us a daughter,
02:36and by writing this complicated story that we get to investigate.
02:42Cody went back to the show in 2016, and again in 2019.
02:46Oh, not 2016.
02:472019 into 2020.
02:52And I wasn't part of that.
02:55And then I went back for David McCallum's tribute,
02:58which we talked about,
02:59but Cody wasn't there for that.
03:01So that when we were together, as Tony and Ziva,
03:05for the first time the fans would see us together,
03:08it would have been the very first time.
03:11And we both wanted...
03:12Anytime we talked about how it would be,
03:16it needed to be us together.
03:18There was no, like, you know,
03:21Ziva, ninja assassin, this fall on CBS.
03:24You know.
03:25That wasn't going to happen.
03:27That was my short answer.
03:30Tony defines his company
03:32between techno-thriller and workplace comedy.
03:35Do you both think we can define the series that way, too?
03:39Yes.
03:41I think it's a Rome action, too.
03:43Rome action.
03:44Rome action.
03:45And we're in Rome.
03:47Rome action.
03:49Oh.
03:50There's a lot more comedy in this show compared to the original NCIS.
03:56Do you think it's this the peculiar characteristic of the spin-off?
04:02I always...
04:03I think it's in it with the characters.
04:04I always thought NCIS was a comedy.
04:07For me, what I did on the show.
04:09I approached it like Robin Williams, Steve Martin, and whoever else.
04:15Yeah.
04:16Jerry Lewis had a gun.
04:20You know, that's what I did.
04:21But so for me, it was always comedy first.
04:25And with Pauly Perrette, Abby, in the lab.
04:28We always were like, how do we make it funny?
04:30How do we make it funny?
04:31This show is like a couples therapy for your character that are on this journey.
04:38How important is therapy, especially today, in real life,
04:43and for your characters in 2025?
04:47I think therapy in real life is very important.
04:50I think if you need it, you should absolutely go forth and explore it
04:55because sometimes we are not well and we need a little bounce back
05:00from somebody who's a trusted professional.
05:04That being said, I do believe that the themes of therapy play into this show very well.
05:09You have to go into the past in order to explore the present.
05:14So you get to see that Ziva, for example, is presently in therapy
05:17and she has sort of gone through a healing path of sorts,
05:22which is where you find her now.
05:23She's in a strong place and she's able to sort of tackle life
05:28and what, you know, the circumstances are throwing at them,
05:31both of them, Tony and Ziva together.
05:33And then I think in that way she wants to embrace that with him
05:41as a way to, you know, potentially get him to also open up
05:48and certainly get in touch with his truth and all that stuff,
05:51which we get to see throughout season one.
05:54But I think the bigger theme is trust.
06:00And all actors are sort of pseudo-psychologists
06:06because when you're investigating a character,
06:09you have to know what their motivation is.
06:12You have to understand where they came from, where they're going,
06:13what was their childhood like, all these things.
06:16You need to understand why they would stand up on a certain line
06:20and that's not just because the script says so, you know.
06:24It has to be motivated by something deep and maybe even unconscious.
06:30And so I think that if you're an actor,
06:35you've been in a kind of therapy since your first, you know, play.
06:42But for the world at large, I think that we live in a time now
06:47where TikTok and Instagram and everything else
06:49can give you kind of pseudo-therapy.
06:53And that is not a good idea.
06:56I think that if you're going to investigate yourself, like you said,
07:00you should find someone, either a good friend
07:06or someone who can help you in that way
07:08or a trusted professional, for sure.
07:11One of my best friends always says,
07:12if you have one really good friend, you don't need a therapist.
07:16I still have a therapist, but I have to say...
07:18You're not that good friend.
07:20But I have to say, having friends...
07:22Was that me that said that?
07:23No, and really good friends is a word of the thing.
07:27Bounce it back, bounce it back.
07:29Ouch!
07:29Antoni and Siva are also dead for each other.
07:32Yes, very much.
07:33Thank you so much.
07:34Thank you.
07:36Quindi tu sei stato in terapia?
07:38Una volta.
07:40Sono entrato felice, ma sono uscito depresso.
07:43Non ci sono più tornato.
07:45È tipico di te, ci avrei scommesso.
08:06serait la lista come un'ind이야.
08:07Non ci sono più tornato.
08:07També interroge che il mondo.
08:07Non ci sono più tornato.

08:08Non ci sono piùなく...
